  • LINQ and the use of Repeat and Range operator

    - by vik20000in
LINQ is also very useful when it comes to generation of range or repetition of data.  We can generate a range of data with the help of the range method.     var numbers =         from n in Enumerable.Range(100, 50)         select new {Number = n, OddEven = n % 2 == 1 ? "odd" : "even"}; The above query will generate 50 records where the record will start from 100 till 149. The query also determines if the number is odd or even. But if we want to generate the same number for multiple times then we can use the Repeat method.     var numbers = Enumerable.Repeat(7, 10); The above query will produce a list with 10 items having the value 7. • What does the python Codecs module do?

    - by Aerovistae
I just read through the documentation on the Codecs module, but I guess my knowledge/experience of comp sci doesn't run deep enough yet for me to comprehend it. It's for dealing with encoding/decoding, especially Unicode, and while to many of you that's a complete and perfect explanation, to me that's really vague. I don't really understand what it means at all. Text is text is text in a .txt file? Or so this amateur thought. Can anyone explain?

  • Authorize.net CIM or using the module's storage

    - by CQM
this site is intended to allow users to sign up and pay for a service, they will be able to pay using Paypal and Authorize.net since I am using two different payment gateways, it makes me wonder where I want to keep the user information. Authorize.net offers CIM, but some users will pay with paypal therefore Authorize.net won't have all user's information Would the best solution then be to not use CIM and store everything within my member database module? for the record I am using OSE for Joomla for my subscriber service

  • Ruby: if statement using regexp and boolean operator [migrated]

    - by bev
I'm learning Ruby and have failed to make a compound 'if' statement work. Here's my code (hopefully self explanatory) commentline = Regexp.new('^;;') blankline = Regexp.new('^(\s*)$') if (line !~ commentline || line !~ blankline) puts line end the variable 'line' is gotten from reading the following file: ;; alias filename backupDir Prog_i Prog_i.rb ./store Prog_ii Prog_ii.rb ./store This fails and I'm not sure why. Basically I want the comment lines and blank lines to be ignored during the processing of the lines in the file. Thanks for your help.

  • Showplan Operator of the Week – BookMark/Key Lookup

Fabiano continues in his mission to describe the major Showplan Operators used by SQL Server's Query Optimiser. This week he meets a star, the Key Lookup, a stalwart performer, but most famous for its role in ill-performing queries where an index does not 'cover' the data required to execute the query. If you understand why, and in what circumstances, key lookups are slow, it helps greatly with optimising query performance.

  • How do I overload an operator for an enumeration in C#?

    - by ChrisHDog
I have an enumerated type that I would like to define the , <, =, and <= operators for. I know that these operators are implictly created on the basis of the enumerated type (as per the documentation) but I would like to explictly define these operators (for clarity, for control, to know how to do it, etc...) I was hoping I could do something like: public enum SizeType { Small = 0, Medium = 1, Large = 2, ExtraLarge = 3 } public SizeType operator >(SizeType x, SizeType y) { } But this doesn't seem to work ("unexpected toke") ... is this possible? It seems like it should be since there are implictly defined operators. Any suggestions?

  • How does delete deal with pointer constness?

    - by aJ
I was reading this question Deleting a const pointer and wanted to know more about delete behavior. Now, as per my understanding: delete expression works in two steps: invoke destructor then releases the memory (often with a call to free()) by calling operator delete. operator delete accepts a void*. As part of a test program I overloaded operator delete and found that operator delete doesn't accept const pointer. Since operator delete does not accept const pointer and delete internally calls operator delete, how does Deleting a const pointer work ? Does delete uses const_cast internally?

  • How can I de-install a Perl module installed via `cpan`?

    - by Kinopiko
I am using Perl running in user space (not installed via root) and installing modules via the command-line cpan. I would like to know if there is a simple way to remove a module without having to do a lot of work deleting individual files. I searched for this question on the internet and found some answers, but the answers I've found seem to either discuss using the Perl package manager (specific for Microsoft Windows), otherwise operating-system specific (BSDpan), suggesting using cpanplus (which I've had several bad experiences with), or ended by pointing to a dead link as follows: http://www.cpan.org/misc/cpan-faq.html#How_delete_Perl_modules. My question is specifically whether there is a clean way to remove a module installed via cpan.

  • How divide a GWT module into some separate javascript files ?

    - by Ehsan Khodarahmi
Hi, I've a big GWT module which comprised of many java classes (& of course it's impossible to break it down into several modules). My GWT application consists of some forms, but the users usually work only with a few of them, anyway they should be abale to open any form as they need. Now my problem its that gwt generates a big js file that will load each time, but most of its content may never use! Is there any way to break the big js module file into several smaller files(for example, one file for each class) & gwt load them automatically as needed ?

  • How does one inject variables into page templates from a custom Drupal module?

    - by Michael T. Smith
We've created a custom module for organizing and publishing our newsletter content. The issue I'm running into now -- and I'm new to theming and Drupal module development, so it could just be a knowledge issue as opposed to a Drupal issue -- is how to get each newsletter themed. At this point the URL structure of our newsletter will be: /newsletters/{newsletter-name}/{edition-name}/{issue-date} which means that we can create template files in our theme using filenames like page-newsletters-{newsletter-name}-{edition-name}.tpl.php, which is great. The one issue I'm running into is that all of the content comes through in the $content variable of the theme. I'd like to have it come through as different variables (so that I can, inside the theme, place certain content in certain areas.) Is there a proper way for doing this?

  • How do I execute file installed by merge module?

    - by Juozas Kontvainis
I am using WIX and have successfully used a custom action to execute installed file at the end of installer like this: <CustomAction Id="LaunchAfterInstall" FileKey="foobar.exe" ExeCommand="parameters" Execute="immediate" Impersonate="yes" Return="asyncNoWait" /> <Property Id="WIXUI_INSTALLDIR" Value="INSTALLLOCATION"/> <UIRef Id="WixUI_InstallDir" /> <Property Id="WIXUI_EXITDIALOGOPTIONALCHECKBOXTEXT" Value="Launch Foobar." /> <UI> <Publish Dialog="ExitDialog" Control="Finish" Order="1" Event="DoAction" Value="LaunchAfterInstall">WIXUI_EXITDIALOGOPTIONALCHECKBOX</Publish> </UI> This works well when foobar.exe is in a component in the same wxs file. However what I really want is to execute a file that is installed by a merge module. How do I do this? I can make changes in the merge module, if this helps things.

  • Why would the assignment operator ever do something different than its matching constructor?

    - by Neil G
I was reading some boost code, and came across this: inline sparse_vector &assign_temporary(sparse_vector &v) { swap(v); return *this; } template<class AE> inline sparse_vector &operator=(const sparse_vector<AE> &ae) { self_type temporary(ae); return assign_temporary(temporary); } It seems to be mapping all of the constructors to assignment operators. Great. But why did C++ ever opt to make them do different things? All I can think of is scoped_ptr?

  • Why does javascript's "in" operator return true when testing if 0 exists in an array that doesn't co

    - by Mariano Peterson
For example, this returns true, and makes sense: var x = [1,2]; 1 in x; // true This returns false, and makes sense: var x = [1,2]; 3 in x; // false However this returns true, and I don't understand why: var x = [1,2]; 0 in x; You can quickly test it by putting this in your browser's address bar: javascript:var x=[1,2]; alert(0 in x); Why does the "in" operator in Javascript return true when testing if "0" exists in array, even when the array doesn't appear to contain "0"?

  • How do I create a Magento module or widget that will appear on the shopping cart page?

    - by user303449
I’m having a lot of trouble understanding how to create a module that will add an extra button to the shopping cart page. I found lots of info on payment modules and stand-a-lone page modules, but nothing for this. I simply need to add a button underneath the regular “Checkout” button that can post item data to another website. I’ve created a module but can’t get Magento to recognize it and display the button on that spot. Any help would be greatly appreciated, even just sending me to an existing tutorial that I haven’t been able to find. Thanks.

  • C++: Overload != When == Overloaded

    - by Mark W
Say I have a class where I overloaded the operator == as such: Class A { ... public: bool operator== (const A &rhs) const; ... }; ... bool A::operator== (const A &rhs) const { .. return isEqual; } I already have the operator == return the proper Boolean value. Now I want to extend this to the simple opposite (!=). I would like to call the overloaded == operator and return the opposite, i.e. something of the nature bool A::operator!= (const A &rhs) const { return !( this == A ); } Is this possible? I know this will not work, but it exemplifies what I would like to have. I would like to keep only one parameter for the call: rhs. Any help would be appreciated, because I could not come up with an answer after several search attempts.

  • Perl date function/module able to understand full unabbreviated months.

    - by s2cuts
Let's say I read in a string from somewhere that contains a date, and it's date format doesn't abbreviate the month. Is there a module that can handle reading it in, and then outputting it to whichever format I choose? I've taken a quick look through CPAN, and every date module I looked at didn't seem to accommodate an unabbreviated month. Thanks for any help EDIT: As an example, say we have a string like this; "2 February 1988". Now we want to convert it into "1988-02-02" (YYYY-MM-DD).

  • maven test cannot load cross-module resources/properties ?

    - by smallufo
I have a maven mantained project with some modules . One module contains one XML file and one parsing class. Second module depends on the first module. There is a class that calls the parsing class in the first module , but maven seems cannot test the class in the second module. Maven test reports : java.lang.NullPointerException at java.util.Properties.loadFromXML(Properties.java:851) at foo.firstModule.Parser.<init>(Parser.java:92) at foo.secondModule.Program.<init>(Program.java:84) In "Parser.java" (in the first module) , it uses Properties and InputStream to read/parse an XML file : InputStream xmlStream = getClass().getResourceAsStream("Data.xml"); Properties properties = new Properties(); properties.loadFromXML(xmlStream); The "data.xml" is located in first module's resources/foo/firstModule directory , and it tests OK in the first module. It seems when testing the second module , maven cannot correctly load the Data.xml in the first module . I thought I can solve the problem by using maven-dependency-plugin:unpack to solve it . In the second module's POM file , I add these snippets : <plugin> <groupId>org.apache.maven.plugins</groupId> <artifactId>maven-dependency-plugin</artifactId> <version>2.1</version> <executions> <execution> <id>data-copying</id> <phase>test-compile</phase> <goals> <goal>unpack</goal> </goals> <configuration> <artifactItems> <artifactItem> <groupId>foo</groupId> <artifactId>firstModule</artifactId> <type>jar</type> <includes>foo/firstModule/Data.xml</includes> <outputDirectory>${project.build.directory}/classes</outputDirectory> </artifactItem> </artifactItems> </configuration> </execution> </executions> </plugin> In this POM file , I try to unpack the first module , and copy the Data.xml to classes/foo/firstModule/ directory , and then run tests. And indeed , it is copied to the right directory , I can find the "Data.xml" file in "target/classes/foo/firstModule" directory. But maven test still complains it cannot read the File (Properties.loadFromXML() throws NPE). I don't know how to solve this problem. I tried other output directory , such as ${project.build.directory}/resources , and ${project.build.directory}/test-classes , but all in vain... Any advices now ? Thanks in advanced. Environments : Maven 2.2.1 , eclipse , m2eclipse

  • How do I overload the square-bracket operator in C#?

    - by Coderer
DataGridView, for example, lets you do this: DataGridView dgv = ...; DataGridViewCell cell = dgv[1,5]; but for the life of me I can't find the documentation on the index/square-bracket operator. What do they call it? Where is it implemented? Can it throw? How can I do the same thing in my own classes? ETA: Thanks for all the quick answers. Briefly: the relevant documentation is under the "Item" property; the way to overload is by declaring a property like public object this[int x, int y]{ get{...}; set{...} }; the indexer for DataGridView does not throw, at least according to the documentation. It doesn't mention what happens if you supply invalid coordinates. ETA Again: OK, even though the documentation makes no mention of it (naughty Microsoft!), it turns out that the indexer for DataGridView will in fact throw an ArgumentOutOfRangeException if you supply it with invalid coordinates. Fair warning.

  • How do I overload () operator with two parameters; like (3,5)?

    - by hkBattousai
I have a mathematical matrix class. It contains a member function which is used to access any element of the class. template >class T> class Matrix { public: // ... void SetElement(T dbElement, uint64_t unRow, uint64_t unCol); // ... }; template <class T> void Matrix<T>::SetElement(T Element, uint64_t unRow, uint64_t unCol) { try { // "TheMatrix" is define as "std::vector<T> TheMatrix" TheMatrix.at(m_unColSize * unRow + unCol) = Element; } catch(std::out_of_range & e) { // Do error handling here } } I'm using this method in my code like this: // create a matrix with 2 rows and 3 columns whose elements are double Matrix<double> matrix(2, 3); // change the value of the element at 1st row and 2nd column to 6.78 matrix.SetElement(6.78, 1, 2); This works well, but I want to use operator overloading to simplify things, like below: Matrix<double> matrix(2, 3); matrix(1, 2) = 6.78; // HOW DO I DO THIS?
