  • How do I change all shared libraries used in my programe to static libraries in windows?

    The shared library is causing much trouble for me, and disk space is far less expensive than the trouble itself. How can I convert all shared libs(.dll) to static libs(.lib) and make my programe use them instead of using shared libs? Note some .dlls are not directly refered to by my programe,e.g. my programe requires libpng,and libpng requires zlib.dll. Is there a solution that wraps up all these cases?

  • Port forwarding + shared connection with Ubuntu

    Because my wireless router's ethernet ports are defective, I set up a shared wireless connection from my laptop (which has wifi) to my eMac (which does not) via a crossover ethernet cable. The laptop is behind a router as 192.168.1.131, and the eMac is behind the laptop as 10.42.43.1 . The laptop is running Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic). I achieved the shared connection through NetworkManager Applet. I right-clicked on the network icon at the topright, went to Edit Connections, selected the Wired connection named "Auto eth0", clicked "Edit...", went to the "IPv4 Settings" tab, and selected the Method "Shared to other computers". The eMac can now access the Internet. Now I want to enable port forwarding. There's a game I want to play that needs port 6112 forwarded (both TCP and UDP) in order to host games. I set up the router to enable port forwarding for 192.168.1.131 (the laptop), but port forwarding still isn't available on the eMac. I suppose I need to pretend my laptop is a router and configure port forwarding on it, indicating that incoming connections to the laptop (192.168.1.131) should be forwarded to the eMac on the shared connection (10.42.43.1 ). Thus, packets coming into the router on port 6112 would be redirected to the laptop (by the router), then to the eMac (by the laptop). My question is, how would I do that on Ubuntu (in light of NetworkManager's presence)? Also, if I can't get this to work, does anyone mind hosting a comp stomp? :D

    I have followed the steps found here, however, the share is not mounted on boot. The share will mount if i run 'mount -a' after booting. Why would the share not mount on boot? 1 - Set up a Virtual Machine and install OpenSUSE 11.2 2 - Create a shared folder on host (HostFolder) 3 - Setup the shared folder in Virtualbox Via the Virtual Machine details or via Devices Shared Folders... 4 - Install dependencies for running the Virtualbox installer You need to install the right development kernelpackage for your machinetype (use 'zypper search -i kernel' to see what's installed) sudo zypper install make gcc kernel-source kernel-hosttype/default-devel 5 - Run the Virtual Machine and go to Devices Guest Additions This mounts an iso image in your OpenSUSE guest. 6 - Open a root terminal and run cd /usr/src/linux make oldconfig && make prepare && make scripts && make dep cp ../linux-obj/$HOSTTYPE/default/Module.symvers . make prepare A commenter on previously mentioned thread says this step is unnecessary but it doesn't work without on my system.   • Can't open shared drive after disconnecting vpn

    I use a VPN to connect to my office network. On my local network I have another WinXP machine that shares a printer and a few shared folders. While I'm connected to my work VPN, I can access the shared printer and folders on the other machine just fine, and vice versa. Once I disconnect the VPN, I can't access the local machine any more, and the other machine can't access my machine. The network itself seems ok - I can ping the other machine, get to the internet, and get on to a web server shared by the other machine, but I can't get to the shared folders or printer. If I reconnect to the VPN, my access is restored. I'm guessing this is some sort of authentication thing, but I don't know what. Any ideas? Update This problem is bothering me again, so here's an update. Depending on when I first access the WinXP machine, I either have this problem, or the opposite problem. After a reboot, if I (for example) print, then connect to the VPN, I can't access the machine while on the VPN. If after a reboot I connect to the VPN, then print, I can't access the machine off the VPN. In both cases, if I enable/disable the VPN again, I can access the machine again. Thanks

  • Convert Public Folder to Shared Mailbox

    Due to a change in company policy, all existing Public Folders (PF) have to be phased out in favour of shared mailboxes. Unfortunately, they don't seem to have any procedures or guidelines for this migration and I can't find much online either. I've already migrated one of our public folders so far as a sort of test case. Because we still use Exchange 2003, we can't create real shared mailboxes as we would in 2007 or 2010 (With New-Mailbox -Shared ... in the Exchange Shell). Instead, I simply created a new account on the AD and assigned it a mailbox. I then set the PF's permissions to read-only to keep it in a consistent state and copied the entire folder to a local PST in Outlook 2010, from which the folder was in turn copied to the new mailbox. Permissions and Folder Visible were set for all users and the migration was successful. While this works, the whole procedure feels very hackish to me and not at all efficient. I'd welcome some input on automating or at least streamlining the process. Additionally, we are unsure of what to do with our mail-enabled Public Folders. Several of these are nested under other PFs, some of which are also mail-enabled. Preserving folder structure is a key requirement and this seems impossible at first glance. I've considered creating dummy accounts for all the email addresses from our mail-enabled PFs and then setting up automated rules to forward messages to a subfolder of the new shared mailboxes, but I am not familiar enough with Exchange to know if this is even possible. Further points of concern are the Calendars and Contact lists in our public folders. I suppose I'll be forced to create new mailboxes for every one of these we have as well, then set up share permissions for their Calendar and Contact items, but would be happy to be proven wrong.

    HI every one ,I have account with one of the hosting company, and i did my project in asp.net and I used MySQL for the database. the hosting company is not giving me the full privileges to create new user or to create new stored procedure!!! this is what they said for me: Due to the shared nature of our environment we had to make some modifications to your procedure (namely the definer). We also had to review your procedure to determine if it would be compatible with our environment. While your procedures will work (via phpMyAdmin or some other interface), it is unlikely they will be accessible via the Connector/.NET (ADO.NET) that your application is likely using. This is due to a security restriction with how that connector works in shared environments. http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/connector-net-programming-stored.html "Note When you call a stored procedure, the command object makes an additional SELECT call to determine the parameters of the stored procedure. You must ensure that the user calling the procedure has the SELECT privilege on the mysql.proc table to enable them to verify the parameters. Unfortunately, giving read privileges on the mysql.proc table will give you access to the data of our other customers and that is not an acceptable risk.   • How to install 32-bit libraries using Debian Testing

    Question: What is the way to determine, ahead of time and without doing a full install of 64-bit Debian Testing NETINST, when Debian Testing has 32-bit libraries available and fully working and installable so that the following command works without broken package errors?: apt-get install ia32-libs ia32-libs-gtk The errors that occur when 32-bit libraries are not available, still in some broken state, or whatever is broken are detailed below. I already have concluded that "Just install Stable" is my stop-gap measure for now, but I would like to know the answer to the above question so as to avoid a lengthy installation process only to run into these problems at the very end. Details: I downloaded the 64-bit Debian Testing netinst a couple of days ago. This was "Jessie" built 20131014-06:07 via http://tinyurl.com/lejpa. This is weekly testing build. Yes, I know I should expect problems, and I did. I managed to get it completely installed and was able to invoke into GNOME, but not get past the 32-bit library problem. The problems starts when I attempt to install the 32-bit libraries via: apt-get install ia32-libs ia32-libs-gtk that returns: root@breath:~# apt-get install ia32-libs ia32-libs-gtk Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable distribution that some required packages have not yet been created or been moved out of Incoming.   • Windows 7 libraries missing from start menu?

    I was trying to stop an annoying error where renaming a new folder in Windows 7 (Starter OEM via Toshiba) would bring up the dreaded "cannot find item" error. I was lead to uninstall Windows update KB980408 with the added registry fix. Well, now the problem is still unfixed, but worse, all the libraries have vanished from the right side of my start menu! This is a pretty aggravating state of affairs, and I've already tried a system restore, adding back in some registry keys, changing preferences...the smash. Funnily enough, libraries are still in explorer and I can see that according to preferences they are displaying, but...nada. Any suggestions?

I get the following error: checking for Qt... configure: error: Qt (>= Qt 3.0.2) (headers and libraries) not found. Please check your installation! So I install the following package thinking this would solve the problem. sudo apt-get install libqt4-dev I was thinking that the libqt4-dev would install the headers and libraries.     We're interested in moving from a source control system that supports the concept of shared or linked files. A shared file means: a file modified in one project, is automatically updated changed in every other project that uses that same file. It does this without a developer having to request it, reverse-integrate it, ask for it, or even want it. We're trying to see if any other commonly used source-control systems can meet our needs, and include linked or shared files. My limited research shows that: Team Foundation Server doesn't support sharing files Subversion doesn't support sharing files (including Externals) CVS doesn't support sharing files (including Modules) Anything else? (besides our current source control product, obviously) References Subversion and shared files across repositories/projects? How to share files between CVS projects? Will TFS ever support shared files for projects under source control?

  • Why does one loop take longer to detect a shared memory update than another loop?

    I've written a 'server' program that writes to shared memory, and a client program that reads from the memory. The server has different 'channels' that it can be writing to, which are just different linked lists that it's appending items too. The client is interested in some of the linked lists, and wants to read every node that's added to those lists as it comes in, with the minimum latency possible. I have 2 approaches for the client: For each linked list, the client keeps a 'bookmark' pointer to keep its place within the linked list. It round robins the linked lists, iterating through all of them over and over (it loops forever), moving each bookmark one node forward each time if it can. Whether it can is determined by the value of a 'next' member of the node. If it's non-null, then jumping to the next node is safe (the server switches it from null to non-null atomically). This approach works OK, but if there are a lot of lists to iterate over, and only a few of them are receiving updates, the latency gets bad. The server gives each list a unique ID. Each time the server appends an item to a list, it also appends the ID number of the list to a master 'update list'. The client only keeps one bookmark, a bookmark into the update list. It endlessly checks if the bookmark's next pointer is non-null ( while(node->next_ == NULL) {} ), if so moves ahead, reads the ID given, and then processes the new node on the linked list that has that ID. This, in theory, should handle large numbers of lists much better, because the client doesn't have to iterate over all of them each time. When I benchmarked the latency of both approaches (using gettimeofday), to my surprise #2 was terrible. The first approach, for a small number of linked lists, would often be under 20us of latency. The second approach would have small spats of low latencies but often be between 4,000-7,000us! Through inserting gettimeofday's here and there, I've determined that all of the added latency in approach #2 is spent in the loop repeatedly checking if the next pointer is non-null. This is puzzling to me; it's as if the change in one process is taking longer to 'publish' to the second process with the second approach. I assume there's some sort of cache interaction going on I don't understand. What's going on?

What am I missing? I have setup numerous copiers to scan to folder in a Windows Server 2003 environment. First time user on SBS 2008. I feel so inadequate!

    I am using Cluster Shared Volumes on Windows Server 2008 R2 with Hyper-V. The different volumes available have different sizes, and are physically located on different disks on the SAN. These volumes defaulted to labels such as C:\ClusterStorage\Volume1. I know that it is not possible / recommended to change where the CSV mount points are (C:\ClusterStorage), but I want to change the rest of the path to be a more useful name than "Volume1". In the Failover Cluster Manager, under Cluster Shared Volumes, I can see these CSVs, and they are working just fine. When I go into their properties, I can see a list, which has the mount point listed, but the entries are not modifiable. How can I change the mount point of a Cluster Shared Volume in Windows Server 2008 R2?

    In Windows Server 2008, I have a shared folder. For my username: NTFS permission (read/modify) Share Permissions (read/modify) Result when trying to access the share: I can traverse directory and read files, but I cannot write files. When I try to examine my effective permissions, it says "Windows can't calculate the effective permissions for [My Username]". The folder is owned by the Administrators group (the default), and NTFS read/write permissions are granted to my username, which is a member of the Administrators group. I notice that to make any changes to the folder locally require me to acknowledge a UAC prompt. Why does that prompt appear? I also tried creating a new group, giving it full NTFS permissions, and full control in the shared permissions, and added my username to the group. The result is even worse... I cannot even traverse the shared folder directories or read anything at all.

    I'm unable to access a Windows 7 (Windows 7 Pro 64-bit) shared folder from an old Windows 98 box: I tried with: Turning on file and printer sharing Turning on public folder sharing Turning off password protected sharing Sharing the folder with read permissions to Everyone Lowering the encryption to 40-56 bits. The shared folder works fine using it from Windows XP, and even from Linux with CIFS / Samba, but when I try to use it from Win98 with: NET USE X: \\SERVER\SHARE an user / password dialog pops up. I entered the administrator's user / password from my Windows 7 box, but it doesn't work (incorrect password). The same Win98 machine works fine accessing a Windows XP shared folder, so it looks like a Windows 7 networking issue. Any ideas?

    OK, this is doing my head in. Not your usual Win7 sharing problem. Just built a win 7 comp to go onto my home lan and be accessed by all on the network, mostly running XP SP3. Installed it as a single HD+DVD system, got it happy, then added my storage drives, set them up in the right order and letters, rebooted, and shared them. Couldn't access the computer at all from any XP machine. Set the pasword thingy in win7 to NO, and now I can "see" all four shared drives from any machine, but can access only two of them. Please tell me whats going on as I've done nothing different from one drive to the other, just installed and set up drive letters as normal, then shared the damn things. The odd thing about it? the two 1.5T drives that have a lot of data on board are accessable, the two nearly empty 500G ones are not. ANY ideas? Cheers, Colin

And I want to run the program on server C. So using caspol I can allow the executable to be ran remotely. that means from B I can run \C\shared\my.exe What I want to do is from A run \C\shared\my.exe on B. SysInternals\PsExec.exe -u username -p password -accepteula \\ServerC -i 0 -d -w \\ServerB\Nightly\Server \\ServerB\Nightly\Server\server.exe The user has all the necessary rights. But, the -w (working directory) options apparently wants a path relative to the server I point to. Any idea?

So using caspol I can allow the executable to be ran remotely. that means from B I can run \C\shared\my.exe What I want to do is from A run \C\shared\my.exe on B. SysInternals\PsExec.exe -u username -p password -accepteula \\ServerC -i 0 -d -w \\ServerB\Nightly\Server \\ServerB\Nightly\Server\server.exe The user has all the necessary rights. But, the -w (working directory) options apparently wants a path relative to the server I point to. Any idea?

  • Windows7 access to Printer shared with XP ?

    I have, at home, an eeebox running with XP 24/24 with an attached printer (Canon IP5300) installed as shared. We have a few other laptops and PC, all with vista, that can access and print on the shared printer without problem. We just received a new Dell computer with Windows7-64 on it, but it fails to connect the shared printer. I tried connecting the printer with its USB cord directly to the Windows7 PC and the required driver was automatically downloaded and installed. I could then access the printer specific properties, etc. But if I connect it back to the XP computer, the windows7 PC still refused to connect to the remote printer although it now have the drivers. The windows7 is a family pack. By the way, I also have an old canon scanner still perfectly working with XP, but for which I can't find compatible drivers for windows 7. Do I have to buy a new one ? Any help would be welcome.
