• (Windows 7) Shared External Drive Permission Issues

  So, say I share my system (C) drive through windows (E.g. properties -> Sharing -> Advanced Sharing -> Share this Folder). I can then access this drive at \\Comp\C on another networked computer - all is well. However, if I insert a removable (USB) disk, say "E", and proceed to share it the same way, when I attempt to access \\Comp\E (either directly or through browsing) I get an error: Windows cannot access \\Comp\E You do not have permission to access \\Comp\E. Contact your network administrator to request access. Now, the permissions (Advanced Sharing -> Permissions) are set with "Everyone" having read access (same as the internal drive), so this doesn't make a lot of sense. Also of note, I have an SSH server on my computer (through Cygwin) and even through SSH (logging in as an administrator user) I cannot access /cygdrive/e (although /cygdrive/c is accessible). As a final note, the drive is of course accessible on the host machine (E:\), and also at \\Comp\E on the host machine.

• How do I fully share a Hard Drive on my Local Network?

  I have 4 computers connected to a router (DD-WRT) My main PC is Windows 7 (Home Premium). This machine has 2 Hard Disks: HD1 is used for my OS and the other (HD2) is used to store files. My 3 other machines are 1. Ubuntu Destop that I use to learn about linux, 2. A Mac OSX laptop, and 3. A netbook running windows 7. How do I easily share HD2 with my other machines? I would like all my machines to have full access & permissions to HD2 however I would like to RESTRICT access to only PCs that are connected to my router (either via LAN and WiFi) --- btw, I know this is not very secure due to WiFi vulnerability , however, I currently MAC address restrict WiFi connections my router. Extra Info: I have already tried to use the Windows Folder Sharing feature: i.e. I right click over the icon of HD2, and click on the Sharing Tab, but in sub-window labeled "Network File and Folder Sharing", the "Share" button is grayed out. I can click on "Advanced Shared" but that just takes me to a screen in which I have to set certain permissions. What is not clear to me is: How do I set a criteria that shares HD2 with all computer connected to my router?

• Write Null/Nothing value with Databinding

  I have extended a MaskedTextBox component to add some functionality. The text property of the extended MaskedTextBox is bound to a DateTime? property and the format of binding is set to a time format of "HH:mm:ss" (i.e. 24hr time). So that this masked text box will capture the display a time. The extra functionality I have added is to make the component readonly unless the component is double clicked or the enter button is pressed (the back color of the control helps to inform the users if the component is locked/readonly or not). When the enter button is pressed I also suspend the bindings so that bound data is updated the users input won't be lost. The information is then written back to the value and databindings resumed when the user presses the enter key again. This all works fine up to here, with values written and displayed as would be expected. However, I also want to write the null or nothing value to the DateTime? property if the user hasn't entered any text (or invalid text but let's just stick with no text) when enter key is pressed to submit the new value. Unlike with other valid entries in the MaskedTextBox, with no text entered when i execute: Me.DataBindings("Text").WriteValue() (when 'locking' the MaskedTextBox) it then branches to the bound properties Get method as I step into each line of code in the debugger (as opposed to the Set method with other valid entries) How can I write this null/nothing/"" value to the DateTime? property when no text "" is entered into the MaskedTextBox?   Hello, I am currently working on a project which involves three different websites with a lot of common functionality. At the moment the common functionality is placed in a different website full of user controls. The problem is sharing the user controls across the multiple websites. Looking around on SO and other websites, the only solution seems the be using virtual directories. As this is a workable solution (we us this at the moment) it doesn't seem as a "clean" solution. Which "best practices" exist on sharing common functionality (including the GUI/HTML) between different site? Is it (for example) possible to create a single Web Application project and deploy subdirectories (each with their own web.config) to different production environments?

• HREF link that targets nothing, does not want to use hash or void(0)

  I have a link that I want to be able to click to trigger a piece of jQuery code. Currently I have <a href="#" id="foo">Link</a> and $('#foo').click(function(){ // Do stuff }); which works well. But, I have always hated using hash in this way. The page flickers and the hash is added to the page url. One alternative is to use <a href="javascript:void(0);" id="foo">Link</a> but I also dislike seeing that piece of code in the browser status bar. It looks tacky. What I'd rather have is an explanatory javascript placeholder that does nothing, like <a href="javascript:zoom();" id="foo">Link</a> which actually works, but throws an ReferenceError in the javascript console since there are no such function. What's the minimum definition of a function that does nothing? Are there any other alternatives? Should I just skip the link and use something like <span id="foo" style="cursor:pointer;cursor:hand;">Link</span> instead?

• IE6 secure and nonsecure error - nothing in Fiddler/no iframes

There are no calls to http://, there are no iframes in the page, fiddler and httpfox both show only requests to https:// - what else can i check? • Visual Studio 2010's Build Command: It does nothing

  I am running php5, however as soon as I call session_start() the script hangs and nothing happens. Is anyone else experiencing this problem, or am I doing something incorrectly? I am using session_start() on index.php and for some reason sometimes it'll fail. No warnings, no errors, no notices, not even after prepending error_reporting(E_ALL) and ini_set('display_errors', TRUE) before session_start() do I see anything, it just plain dies.
