  • Installed Paragon HFS+ for Windows 8, now my pc won't recognize the external firewire drive

    I'm not incredibly knowledgeable about computers and I really need some help. Just got a Seagate external firewire drive this morning. I downloaded the necessary pc driver (Paragon HFS+ for Windows 8) through their website per the instructions that came with the drive. After installation, I restarted and the pc recognized the firewire drive just fine. About three hours into copying files from my pc to the firewire drive, it gave me an error and told me the files couldn't be copied. When I clicked to get out of the message, the computer crashed. After an hour of it trying to repair itself in safe mode, it restored me to an earlier version before the system crashed. Here's my current dilemma: The Paragon HFS+ is still showing up in my programs as installed, but the Device Manager is not recognizing the drive. When I try to uninstall and reinstall Paragon, it interrupts me with a message saying "The setup must update files or services that cannot be updated while the system is running" and basically gives me the finger. I have no idea what to do now, as it won't let me uninstall and reinstall Paragon, and I have no idea why it crashed my computer in the first place. Is there possibly another Mac - PC firewire driver I can try downloading instead? I really don't know what I'm doing and any help would be greatly appreciated.

    We need a script, marco or something in excel where we can take list like below interface Vlan100 ip address 192.168.1.3 255.255.255.0 interface Vlan101 ip address 192.168.2.3 255.255.255.128 interface Vlan102 ip address 192.168.2.130 255.255.255.128 interface Vlan103 ip address 192.168.3.3 255.255.255.240 etc... and produce a list like below ospf 1 undo silent-interface Vlan-interface100 undo silent-interface Vlan-interface101 undo silent-interface Vlan-interface102 undo silent-interface Vlan-interface103 area 0.0.0.0 network 192.168.1.0 0.0.0.255 network 192.168.2.0 0.0.0.127 network 192.168.2.128 0.0.0.127 network 192.168.3.0 0.0.0.15 so it will need to take an ip address/subnet mask and convert them to network number/inverse mask. I believe I can handle the Vlan manipulation with a substitution so no need to spend time on that.

    When I started working at my current job I developed tendinitis in my wrists. Luckily that cleared up when I started using a Microsoft ergonomic keyboard. The problem is that where I work is moving to more security. We will need to stick a card into a slot to log into our PCs. They bought a bunch of new keyboards with these slots built in. All regular keyboards. Is there something like the Microsoft Ergonomic keyboard that comes with such a card slot? Thanks.

  • Setting up WAMP to run on a LAN

    I've installed WAMP on a Windows 7 PC, and it is running fine locally, as localhost. I want PCs on the LAN to be able to view the local server. When they load my PC's IP address in their browser, they receive a "You don't have permission to access / on this server" error. I followed this guide, but the issue remains. To recap: I've added an inbound exception to Windows Firewall for port 80 for Private and Domain connections. I've edited Apache's httpd.conf to include: Listen 80 Listen 192.168.0.5:80 < Directory "c:/wamp/www/wordpress/" allow from all < /Directory I've edited httpd-vhosts.conf to include: < VirtualHost 192.168.0.5:80 DocumentRoot "C:/wamp/www/wordpress" < /VirtualHost Any ideas?

  • server dosnt produce syn-ack

    I have a small program that take packets from the nfqueue . change the ip.dst to my server dst (and ttl), recalc checksum and return the packet to the nfqueue. The server and the client are linux and apache web server is run on the server and listen on port 80. i open telnet in the client to fake ip on port 80 . the packet is changed by my program and sent to the server, but the target server (the new dst ip) get the syn , but dosnt generate syn-ack (the server also belong to me , so i can see that it get the syn with checksum correct , but dosnt generate syn-ack). if i do the same , but with the real server ip as the dest, the tcp handshake is done correct (in this case i just change the ttl and checksum. The change that i did to the ttl is just a test to see that my checksum calc is ok). i compare the sys's , but didnt find and difference. Any idea? Ps. i saw this topic : Server not sending a SYN/ACK packet in response to a SYN packet and i set all flags the same , but this didnt help. Thank you

But even if only 8 columns are shown, there are plenty of other properties (as foo | gm is showing). What is causing this function to show only this 8 properties? I'm actually trying to build a similar function that is returning complex objects from a 3rd party .Net library. How can I control what is displayed, keeping the actual object available?   • Ubuntu network card problem.

    Hello folks, Several days ago, I installed Ubuntu 9.10 onto my Acer Aspire 3100 laptop, running it alongside Widows Vista as a dual-bootable system. Creation of the Ubuntu boot CD went fine, and the installation onto my hard drive was flawless. Ubuntu opens and behaves as I would expect, except for one little problem. For reasons unknown to me, Ubuntu is not communicating with my laptop's networking hardware, and I have no internet connectivity, it works fine under Windows Vista. Up in the right side of the Ubuntu desktop, I click on the network icon and it does not show a wireless connection at all. At home, where I use a dialup modem, I also see no means of getting online. My modem is an HDAUDIO Soft Data Fax Modem with Smart CP,manufactured by CXT (Conexant Systems Inc., file version 4.0.13.0, and the driver version is 7.58.0.0). I am an advanced computer user, but I am not a programmer. I seek a solution that is user-friendly for normal people, something equivalent to a driver that I can easily install or activate that will allow Ubuntu to see my hardware and get me connected. Can anyone help me over this hopefully-little glitch My processor is a Mobile AMD Sempron Processor 3500+ at 1.80 GHz, 1.50 GB RAM, and a 32-bit Operating System.

    I've installed Ubuntu 10.10 on an old laptop with only 756 MB of RAM, Pentium M 1.6 processor. I'm using Google Chrome 11.0 (dev channel) for web browsing, and it appears to be using up most of my memory and processor time. Does anyone know of a better browser than Chrome on Ubuntu, for an older computer like mine? I'm new to Ubuntu, so there may also be tweaks I can make to my existing system to have it perform better. But right now it's pretty slow when I've got ~5-10 tabs open. Related question: memory-efficient web-browser

    I am trying to create a bridge with ThreatStop, IPS and block a few ports. This bridge will sit in front of my servers. All is working apart from the IPS. I have read the documentation on configuring IPS, I have something configured that it hasn't complained about and nothing is logged so I believe that it isn't working. Is it possible to set-up IPS on a vyatta bridge? Also is it possible to read the logs/events with Snorby? I have also posted this on the Vyatta forums

    A common practice is to use non-preallocated virtual disks. Since they only grow as needed, it makes them perfect for fast backup, overallocation and creation speed. Since file systems are usually based on physical disks they have the tendency to use the whole area available1 in order to increase the speed2 or reliability3. I'm searching a filesystem that does the exact opposite : try to touch the minimum blocks need by an aggressive block reuse. I would happily trade some performance for space usage. There is already a similar question, but it is rather general. I have very specific goal : space-efficiency. 1. Like page caching uses all the free physical memory 2.     I have a PC behind NAT. I want to host a web server on it which is accessible from the internet. I cannot open any blocked ports nor do i have admin rights on the computer. But it has a teamviewer client running on it 24*7 to which i do have access(no vpn installed). I can accesss this client from anywhere using teamviewer. I want to know if somehow i can use teamviewer to get a ip/hostname that is accessible from the internet and host a webserver. Also is it possible to get an ip if i get admin access but without opening ports.

  • Writing to external drive runs out of space prematurely

    I have a USB 2.0, 500 GB HDD. I am writing a bunch of data to it, that I previously recovered from the drive. I have formatted the drive in exFAT, since the drive will be used with Windows and OSX. At first, I tried using Windows explorer to move the files over to the drive (about 160 GiB worth) but after copying about 30% of the data (according to TeraCopy), Windows Explorer reported the drive as out of space, and that it was completely full. WinDirStat only showed the size of data that had been copied over... Where did this extra space go? Why is there a 300+ GiB discrepancy between the usage reported by the files and what Explorer sees?

  • Monitor does not work past certain resolution.

    I have a Macbook 5.1 with Snow Leopard, and a Samsung SyncMaster 2253BW that I use for an external monitor. I connect it to my laptop via a DVI-to-MiniDisplayPort adapter. Whenever I try to set the resolution of the monitor to 1680x1050, its maximum resolution (at least the only one that fills the entire screen), the screen flickers once or twice before claiming there is no source attached. I've had this issue since the first time I tried to connect the two, however for some reason for a brief period in time the monitor would successfully display at full resolution. All lower resolutions work fine too, it's just at 1680x1050 that the problems occur. Any ideas as to why this is happening? Thanks.

  • iTunes randomly plays songs while importing, and can't be stopped

    I'm importing a gazillion songs over the network into iTunes. Every now and then, it starts playing the song it's currently importing. And because iTunes is basically frozen up during the import process, I can't actually stop it. Then it will suddenly jump to another song a bit later on. Pretty irritating. Is it a known issue?     I've got a Mac running Apple Mail and a bberry, both checking the same mail accounts. One account is pop and two accounts are IMAP. The Mac is asleep during the day. While out and about, I'll check my mail on the bberry, read the new messages, and leave them in my inbox. When I come home, I wake up the Mac, and Mail syncs with the server. The filtering rules are not applied to messages that are previously read via bberry. Can I apply rules to 'read' messages? I've tried to select emails in the inbox and then apply rules to them, but that doesn't move the message.

Presumably, this triggers the termination of the other services and Trunk is actually doing its job.So, coould this just be a timing issue and we need to increase the tolerance level (i.e restart count) or do we need to address the 0xa08990002 error in vmd?

  • How to copy password from Mono-executed KeePass2 to xterm on Linux?

    I use KeePass2 to access username/password information in a Dropbox file. This allows convenient access from multiple devices. I can't seem to copy a password to the clipboard on my Linux 2.6.27.41-170.2.117.fc10.x86_64 system, however, in order to supply the password to a prompt in an xterm(1). I've tried both Ctrl+C/Ctrl+V and highlighting and mouse button 2 clicking. The KeePass2 program on the Linux system is executed by Mono. How can I copy the password to the xterm(1)? [Aside: I think we need a "KeePass" tag.] ADDENDUM: My mouse buttons were misconfigured: button 2 wasn't set to "copy". Sorry for the false alarm.

I'm trying to upgrade to 8.1 preview, so I downloaded the 64 bits ISO of Windows 8.1 preview (french):fr_windows_8.1_preview_x64_dvd_2358804.iso My I start the setup from the media, the setup does not propose me to upgrade and keep my applications. Only Keep personal files only and Keep nothing are available. When I read the technet page Supported Upgrade Path, upgrading and keeping everything should be proposed. Why can't I upgrade? Do I missed something?
