    Are Session variables (in ASP.NET) the safest way to store data relating to whether a user is logged in or not? i.e. Session["LoggedIn"] = 'No' I know Session variables can be spoofed so I assume there must be a safer way. Any ideas for ASP.NET? Thanks!

    Hello, I just found out that I loose any reference to the session array if I create a new view and try to set a session variable in the controller. The array just comes out as empty. I actually try to use the session array to store the post vars from a multistep registration form. This was actually working when the php was spachetticode, but now that I dumpt everything in a mvc pattern, it is not functioning anymore. Can anyone explain what is going om here and possibly offer a solution om how to work with the session array? Thanks in adv, Richard

    Hi all, i have a simple JPanel bean in my projects, now i want to drag my panel bean class into my jframe. My panel bean class is like this: public class BeanPanel extends javax.swing.JPanel { /** Creates new form BeanPanel */ public BeanPanel () { initComponents(); Session session=HibernateUtil.getSessionFactory().openSession(); } This code seem to break the bean: Session session=HibernateUtil.getSessionFactory().openSession(); When i try to drag the class into my JFrame bean i had this error message: This component cannot be instantiated. Please make sure it is a JavaBeans Component If i comment it all works fine. What is the reason of this? Thanks.

    hi i have an application wherein i am accessing the Session object in the CommonCode.cs file that resides in the App_Code folder. But when the session object is accessed the application throws me an error: Session state can only be used when enableSessionState is set to true, either in a configuration file or in the Page directive. Please also make sure that System.Web.SessionStateModule or a custom session state module is included in the \\ section in the application configuration.     Im trying to get a form working in Internet Explorer. I see that when i submit this form in Firefox I can start a session and send my webbrowser to the right page based on that Session. In Internet Explorer however when i'm debugging the $_SESSION i retrieve an empty array back, this means that in Internet Explorer the session isn't started on my second page.   • Flex 3 / ColdFusion Session Issue?

    Alright so this is an odd one... I have an application built in ColdFusion with a lot of the interactivity done with Flex. When a user logs in, there are session variables, as well as the client session that is evoked. When you browse to any given Flex Application, the variables are read in a used accordingly... however, on Windows (it seems XP and maybe others) for some reason session information like USER are randomly undefined... Could this be an issue with the session timing out? Even if I force a logout and log back in, it doesn't really seem to fix the issue... mind you, I cannot duplicate the bug myself, but it constantly happens on PCs.

    I see the savepath has no value but does it default to something? Are the other values OK? I have access to the server and PHP files but how and what do I change? The specific issue - On page 1: session_start(); $_SESSION['uType']=$row['usertype']; //save user type to session print_r($_SESSION); //Prints the user type successfully On page 2: session_start(); print_r($_SESSION); //BLANK?? Observed: Page 1 displays the session data. However, there are NO cookies created anywhere on the browser? Page 1 does a require to display page 2. Page 2 does not contain the session data. Using FireFox as the target browser (looking at cookies with web developer add-in) How do I get the session to work across all pages? Thank You and yes I am a newbie at this.

  • ZF-Autoloader not working in UnitTests on Ubuntu

    i got a problem regarding Unit-testing a Zend-Framework application under Ubuntu 12.04. The project-structure is a default zend application whereas the models are defined as the following ./application ./models ./DbTable ./ProjectStatus.php (Application_Model_DbTable_ProjectStatus) ./Mappers ./ProjectStatus.php (Application_Model_Mapper_ProjectStatus) ./ProjectStatus.php (Application_Model_ProjectStatus) The Problem here is with the Zend-specific autoloading. The naming convention here appears that the folder Mappers loads all classes with _Mapper but not _Mappers. This is some internal Zend behavior which is fine so far. On my windows machine the phpunit runs without any Problems, trying to initiate all those classes. On my Ubuntu machine however with jenkins running on it, phpunit fails to find the appropriate classes giving me the following error Fatal error: Class 'Application_Model_Mapper_ProjectStatus' not found in /var/lib/jenkins/jobs/PAM/workspace/tests/application/models/Mapper/ProjectStatusTest.php on line 39 The error appears to really be that the Zend-Autoloader doesn't load from the ubuntu machine, but i can't figure out how or why this works. The question remains of why this is. I think i've double checked every point of contact with the zend autoloading stuff, but i just can't figure this out. I'll paste the - from my point of view relevant snippets - and hope someone of you has any insight to this.   • What's causing “Session state has created a session id, but cannot save it because the response was

    I'm getting this fault intermittently. I found this link which summarises fairly well what I was able to find on the Google: http://www.wacdesigns.com/2009/02/03/session-state-has-created-a-session-id-but-cannot-save-it-because-the-response-was-already-flushed-by-the-application/ Basically it says you can try setting the web config setting DisplayWhenNewSession, or try kicking the session state thing into life by getting the Session.SessionID in the Session_OnStart. But does anyone: a) have an explanation for this or even better, b) have a tried and tested fix I realise that I can't flush the response after doing anything that would affect the http response header. If I did this it would cause an error every time but this is intermittent. The SessionID should surely be created by ASP.NET at the beginning of the page response automatically, before anything in the ASPX page or the Page_Load (which is where all my flushes are called).

Created on page 1 Session["UserName"] = "WhatEver"; Then I do Response.Redirect("~/whatever.aspx"); and try to read to read the session variable in the Page_Load method of the new page string userName = Session["UserName"].ToString(); I receive "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." Why am I receiving this error and what can I do to fix the problem? I would greatly appreciate any help anyone can give me.

In my web.config I have <sessionState mode="StateServer" stateConnectionString="tcpip=127.0.0.1:42424" cookieless="false" timeout="20"> </sessionState> I have read a dozen articles on the the necessity of IHttpHandler and an IRequiresSessionState interface. I think the issue may be caused because I am requesting this information in Page_PreInit. I found a solution in a stack overflow article but I don't seem be using it properly to actually make this go. I am not sure what I am missing. Thanks in advance.
