• Folder path before project

  I am trying to get a folder path in my C drive that I did not want to hard code with my program. I know that I can use string path = System.AppDomain.CurrentDomain.BaseDirectory; However its give me : C:\FACE\Camera\Camera\bin\Debug . Which I want to only have C:\FACE\ as I want to initialise something in the FACE folder but outside of my Camera folder. I do not wish to hardcode the file path. Is it possible to do it?   Hi, We are doing the following in the Application_Start (Global.ascx.cs) for a WCF Service hosted by IIS 7.0 (integrated pipeline). var mapperConfigurations = AppDomain.CurrentDomain.GetAssemblies() .SelectMany(a => a.GetExportedTypes().Where(t => typeof (IMapperConfiguration).IsAssignableFrom(t) && t.IsClass)) .ToList(); The web-service has 8-10 assemblies in its bin folder and each of them have multiple implementations of IMapperConfiguration. After an IIS Reset, no mapper configurations are found (found this using debug.write). However, this behaviour is inconsistent and at other times all implementations of IMapperConfiguration are found. When exactly does IIS load assemblies and what is wrong with this code? Thanks

  I'm currently looking at structuring my teams projects into a consistent manner that properly utilises packages and is easily version-controlled (via SVN). I'm interested in any 'best practise' with regards to project structuring and how to use consistent packaging without lumping everything into a gigantic com.domainname.projects folder structure whilst maintaining that package structure. I'm also keen to use the src/bin/lib folder structure within each project. I guess I'm asking 'how do you do it?' and 'why?'. Sorry if this is a bit abstract for Stack Overflow but you guys give the best answers I've found.

• Rails: Creating subfolders in model?

  I'm going to have a ton of subclasses, so want to organize them under a subfolder called stream. I added the following line to the environment.rb so that all classes in the subfolder would be loaded: Rails::Initializer.run do |config| ... config.load_paths += Dir["#{RAILS_ROOT}/app/models/*"].find_all { |f| File.stat(f).directory? } ... end I thought this would solve the issue in which by convention the model class is namespaced into an according module. However, when I try to call one of the classes called stream in the stream folder, I get the following error: NoMethodError: undefined method `new' for Stream:Module from (irb):28 from /usr/local/bin/irb:12:in `<main>' Here's the model for the parent and one child: class Stream end class EventStream < Stream end Any idea what the issue is?

• Validating parameters to a bash script

  I'm a total newbie to doing any bash scripting, but I came up with a basic one to help automate the process of removing a number of folders as they become unneeded. #!/bin/bash rm -rf ~/myfolder1/$1/anotherfolder rm -rf ~/myfolder2/$1/yetanotherfolder rm -rf ~/myfolder3/$1/thisisafolder This is evoked like so: ./myscript.sh <{id-number}> The problem is that if you forget to type in the id-number (as I did just then), then it could potentially delete a lot of things that you really don't want deleted. Is there a way you can add any form of validation to the command line parameters? In my case, it'd be good to check that a) there is one parameter, b) it's numerical, and c) that folder exists; before continuing with the script.

Error using ==> urlread at 111 Error downloading URL. Your network connection may be down or your proxy settings improperly configured. If I substitute https to http, it works, but I get "301 Moved Permanently" page with the above https-link. The link in browser works properly in both cases (redirecting http request). The site does not require any authentication. May be there are other ways than urlread?

  I have some xml files, which are used in my application. They are stored in the same folder with application , in subfolder DATA: "C:\MyProject\DATA\". But after i install the program f.e. "C:\Project"(DATA folder- "C:\Project\DATA" i got the error: "folder C:\DATA is not found". What i need to change to make things working after deployment. Why it looks for the DATA folder on 1 level higher?

• Mac OS X: getting names of changed/written files

  I remember having a command line tool on an older Mac OS X version (Tiger?) that told me the name of every file that was written to (or read) by any process on the system. It used fseventd (? or something like that). Is there something like that for the newest Mac OS X (10.6)? It should be run in a terminal window and then I can use the system as normal. Let's say I type cat /etc/passwd, the output of that program would be similar to /bin/cat /etc/passwd I can't use lsof because I can't get the timing right. Is this clear or do you need more information?

• resource embedding in asp.net

  I have a project which needs to generate PDF documents. I am using iTextSharp. I have a pdf which needs to be read and then appended to. To read the pdf document, I'm using PdfReader(), which accepts many forms, but I can't figure out how to reference a pdf in my webapplication to PdfReader. My host does not allow Binary Serialization (apparently that's bad), so I don't think I can load from an embedded resource. I've tried just using PdfReader("report.pdf"), but it keeps throwing an exception telling me that the file isn't found. I've tried putting the file in the bin directory, root directory, in the same directory as the class, but this still doesn't work. It works if I use a fully qualified path to the pdf document, but I can't use that when I upload it to my hosting provider. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I should do this? Thanks

• Creating a folder inside Mac OS App

  I want a an app that is "self-contained" (I don't know if i use the right word. "putting the app into trash bin will remove everything" is what I meant). But the app requires some resources to run. I usually put those resources into a folder. I want to move those resources into the App folder ( package contents). Can I do that? Is it a good practice to do that? When I test the app directly running from Xcode, the App runs fine. But if i run it from finder, the app will say fails to create resources folder because permission denied. I checked the app's folder permission - User(me) has read/write access. I am wondering what is causing this different behavior. The last option is to use Application Support folder, but I don't want to leave trails when user deletes the app. Can someone help me out here?

The definition is recursive so I cannot see any shortcuts except to calculate everything before the millionth number. How can you fast calculate millionth number in the serie?   I thought by placing these two lines that it would prevent the page from being cached but this is not the case between the head tags: <meta http-equiv="pragma" content="no-cache" /> <meta http-equiv="cache-control" content="no-cache" /> As already mentioned this is on server that doesn't support PHP (or any server side language, well, that's not true, it has cgi-bin folder that supports perl scripts but I don't know perl and have no time to engage in it.) What else could I do to prevent the page from caching? It caches on Firefox and IE (and not so much in Chrome or Safari.)

• Where should I store my App specific config files in WPF

  Background : I have some Application Data. i.e. the Database, come important config files. This data is vital for the application to start else it is exited. Problem : Where should I store this data. i.e in which folder and where. Right Now (This is wrong) it is stored in a folder in Debug/App_Data. But is causing issues in git and when we publish the App the data is not found. So where can we store this folder ? Present Structure is "WpfApplication2\WpfApplication2\bin\Debug" These Files need to be present when the app is started. So they need to be a part of the app itself.

• Best memory settings for eclipse 4.2 (STS 3.1) on Windows 7 64 bit?

  I apoligize in advance if this question is indeed too subjective as SO warns me. My workstation has 8 gb of ram and runs windows 7 64 bit. I use the Spring tool Suite (3.1) but as soon as i am starting to open and modify the spring config (.xml) files, STS becomes incredibly slow. I already tried switching off "build automatically" and to increase memory settings but no luck. When i incorporate it into a larger script though the variable never seems to get created for some reason, so for example this doesn't work: DBPASS=</dev/urandom tr -dc A-Za-z0-9| (head -c $1 > /dev/null 2>&1 || head -c 8) sed -i s/oldpass/$DBPASS/ mysql_connect.php If i manually set the variable though everything is fine.. can anyone see why?

  I have the following bash code, which is copied and pasted from "bash cookbook" (1st edition): #!/bin/bash VERBOSE=0; if [[ $1 =-v ]] then VERBOSE=1; shift; fi When I run this (bash 4.0.33), I get the following syntax error: ./test.sh: line 4: conditional binary operator expected ./test.sh: line 4: syntax error near `=-v' ./test.sh: line 4: `if [[ $1 =-v ]]' Is this as simple as a misprint in the bash cookbook, or is there a version incompatibility or something else here? What would the most obvious fix be? I've tried various combinations of changing the operator, but I'm not really familiar with bash scripting.
