    i have used html in my java class and in one case i have used username.Username is a variable which gets values dynamically. in one case its value is 'rg@bg' but here instead of d name i m getting d url which it is directed to in my jsp. how do i ensure tht d value of username comes on d display page as it is. i have tried "@"+username. didnt work

    Ok so I want to conditionally add this line of code; <!--[if ! IE]> <embed src="logo.svg" type="image/svg+xml" /> <![endif]--> Using: document.getElementById("logo") .innerHTML='...'; In a if()/else() statement and it don't write it! If i get rid of the selective comment ( <!--[if ! IE]><![endif]-->) and only put the SVG ( <embed src="logo.svg" type="image/svg+xml" /> ) it work! what should I do?     Given this HTML: <div class="OpenIDSelector">some text</div> Why does this JQuery selector match it on some browsers and some pages, but not on others? $('.OpenIdSelector) NOTE: I ran into this problem and solved it myself, but it was annoying and I didn't find it on StackOverflow already, so I'm posting it as a Q&A pair so someone else won't waste an hour like I did.

    Please, have a look at: http://twitter.github.com/bootstrap/base-css.html There are many examples like this one: if you look closer to the block borders, you can see that the gray block is under the white one. Using the browser's developer tools you can see that both boxes have an inherited z-index: auto; I can't reproduce this effect on my website (without using z-index). So, my question is: Why is the gray block under the white one?

So say for instance that I want something to happen when a visibility of a div changes. At the same time when the image is clicked it opens up a new tab and tries to load the image that is being downloaded.     I have a scenario where a user is emailing another user in an HTML based web app. For the To: field, the user may select one of a pre-defined list of emails OR enter their own ignoring the pre-defined options. What would be the best way of doing this from a UI point of view? I've looked at editable select boxes using jQuery but none seem to let you enter your own option. Is there some other UI mechanism that would work here?
