Why do I get a security warning in visual studio 2008 when creating a project?

PowerPoint.Application not raising events in C#

I have a simple application written in C# and .Net 2.0 that displays several PowerPoint 2003 files in a loop. (It is going to be used for a information board in our cafeteria) The application works fine on my development machine but when I deploy it to another machine the events I have registered for SlideShowNextSlide and PresentationClose are never fired. Read Excel 2007 file (.xlsx) in C#

My code was quite sufficient for reading xls file in C# (using Microsoft.Jet.Oledb.4.0) but when I tried to read Office 2007 (xlsx) file, it didn't work. I searched and found that it could be read using Microsoft.ACE.Oledb.12, I tried and it worked. Can anyone tell me the difference between the two ? and why xlsx file can not be read using Microsoft.Jet.Oledb.4.0 Provider.

An observation on .NET loops – foreach, for, while, do-while

It’s very common that .NET programmers use “foreach” loop for iterating through collections. Following is my observation whilst I was testing simple scenario on loops. “for” loop is 30% faster than “foreach” and “while” loop is 50% faster than “foreach”. “do-while” is bit faster than “while”. Someone may feel that how does it make difference if I’m iterating only 1000 times in a loop. This test case is only for simple iteration. According to the "Data structure" concepts, best and worst cases are completely based on the data we provide to the algorithm. so we can not conclude that a "foreach" algorithm is not good. All I want to tell that we need to be little cautious even choosing the loops. Example:- You might want to chose quick sort when you want to sort more numbers. At the same time bubble sort may be effective than quick sort when you want to sort less numbers. Take a simple scenario, a request of a simple web application fetches the data of 10000 (10K) rows and iterating them for some business logic. Think, this application is being accessed by 1000 (1K) people simultaneously. I am attempting to install Team Explorer 2008 on a Windows Server 2008 box, without success, which is why I am here. There is a separate installer package to install the VS2008 Shell that is compatible with Windows 2008, but it fails too. Has anyone else been able to install Team Explorer 2008 on Windows Server 2008?

Can isdigit legitimately be locale dependent in C

In the section covering setlocale, the ANSI C standard states in a footnote that the only ctype.h functions whose behaviour is not affected by the current locale are isdigit and isxdigit. The Microsoft implementation of isdigit is locale dependent because, for example, in locales using code page 1250 isdigit only returns non-zero for characters in the range 0x30 ('0') - 0x39 ('9'), whereas in locales using code page 1252 isdigit also returns non-zero for the superscript digits 0xB2 ('²'), 0xB3 ('³') and 0xB9 ('¹'). Is Microsoft in violation of the C standard by making isdigit locale dependent? In this question I am primarily interested in C90, which Microsoft claims to conform to, rather than C99. Additional background: Microsoft's own documentation of setlocale incorrectly states that isdigit is unaffected by the LC_CTYPE part of the locale. The section of the C standard that covers the ctype.h functions contains some wording that I consider ambiguous: "The behavior of these functions is affected by the current locale. Those functions that have locale-specific aspects only when not in the "C" locale are noted below." I consider this ambiguous because it is unclear what it is trying to say about functions such as isdigit for which there are no notes about locale-specific aspects. It might be trying to say that such functions must be assumed to be locale dependent, in which case Microsoft's implementation of isdigit would be OK. (Except that the footnote I mentioned earlier seems to contradict this interpretation.)

RMO on Windows 7 - The Specified module could not be found

My machine: Windows XP (x86), VS2008, .net 3.5, sql server 2005, WinForms - App works fine. Production Machines: Windows 7 (x64), SQl Server 2005 Express - App Starts but throws exception Visual Studio Targeting x86 on setup project and RMO project. Visual Studio gives me a a couple warnings but I can still build: Unable to find dependency 'MICROSOFT.SQLSERVER.MANAGEMENT.SQLPARSER' (Signature='89845DCD8080CC91' Version='10.0.0.0') of assembly 'Microsoft.SqlServer.Smo.dll' Unable to find dependency 'MICROSOFT.SQLSERVER.MANAGEMENT.SQLPARSER' (Signature='89845DCD8080CC91' Version='10.0.0.0') of assembly 'Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.SmoMetadataProvider.dll' This is a simple RMO (Replication Management Objects) app that initiates a pull subscription in SQL Server 2005 and displays status. Works fine on my machine, but fails on the production machine. I'm using a setup project to install the app on the production machine, but I think I'm missing a dependency somewhere, but I can't figure it out. On the production machine the app starts fine, but when I try to synch the subscription i get: System.IO.FileNotFoundException: The Specified module could not be found. (Exception from HResult: 0x8007007E)

Lauching Lotus Notes with mailto:

I have a mailto url in a web page. The target system contains both Microsoft Outlook and Lotus Notes. Microsoft Outlook is the **default** Mail Client. So when i click on *mailto* link it opens up Microsoft Outlook. I want it to open Lotus Notes when i click on the link and i do **NOT** want change the default mail client settings in Internet Options as well. Please suggest a solution or work around to achive this.

Hi I spent a day trying to make Ent Lib Logging work and log anything into database or event log, I have a web application and console application withe the same Ent Lib config, only the console is capable to log into the Event Log, I tried everything with permissions, but I don't know what exactly I am doing, which services should have what, It does not work!! Running the application with F5 gives a message saying "\bin\Debug\Infrastructure.Layout.dll was not found"

The problem here is the ProfileCatalog.xml file refers to the old assesmbly namesdlls. It does not get updated when the assembly names change. Steps to fix this issue: 1. Open the ProfileCatalog.xml file in the Shell project, and you'll find there are three ModuleInfo configuration items that need to have the solution name prefixed. 2. I have try with the Datasheet like below : //DataSheet test = objChart.Application.DataSheet; //test.Cells.Clear() This delete the data of the chart but i dont find a solution to insert values in the chart data after. Hello, I am newly using Apache Tomcat6.0 I am unable to access sql database through my jsp and getting java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver Tried steps at http://tomcat.apache.org/tomcat-5.5-doc/jndi-datasource-examples-howto.html downloaded drivers mysql-connector-java-5.1.9 and mysql-5.0.85-win32 na dkept in tomcat\lib modified web.xml with context details but this didinot help me. Please suggest and provide steps if possible. At work we are inte process of starting development on a new web-based product. Before doing so we need to establish what technology stack we are going to use. For this application my preference would have been to use Django but since the development- and management-team is soo heavily rooted with Microsoft the new product will have to be based on Microsoft technologies. So my question is, what setup, with Microsoft technologies, would most resemble a django setup with its MVT-design?

Accessing controls of .aspx file in .aspx.cs without any declaration.!!??

I am able to access the controls of ".aspx" file in ".aspx.cs" directly without any declaration in ".aspx.cs" or in designer.cs. How is this possible? This is happeing only if I open website as using File System. Create a new ASP.NET web site application with Visual Studio 2008. So following three files will be created automatically "Default.aspx", "Default.aspx.cs" "Default.designer.cs" Now Delete "Default.designer.cs" perminently. Just create a button in Default.aspx file <asp:Button runat="server" Text="Save Plan" ID="btnSave" /> Close the Solution and open the website as File System. File -> Open Web Site -> File System -> Select Web Site Folder and Open the project. Now btnSave is automatically recognized in Default.aspx.cs without any declaration in Default.aspx.cs as bellow System.Web.UI.WebControls.Button btnSave; How btnSave is being recognized by .cs file without defining it anywhere as an object of System.Web.UI.WebControls.Button?
