• A submenu (`ToolStripMenuItem`) does not show automatically.

  I have encountered strange problem with a three-level context menu. In some situation the sub menu does not show automatically. I have following structure of the menu: * AAA - level 1 * BBB - level 1 * CCC - level 2 * xxx - level 3 * yyy - level 3 * DDD - level 2 * zzz - level 3 * vvv - level 3 I start from a menu with two option AAA and BBB. After I move the cursor over BBB the second-level menu appears with two other options CCC and DDD. So far OK. Now, when I quickly move the cursor over DDD the third-level sub menu does not show up, but when I move the cursor back to CCC the sub menu shows up, and when I go back to DDD then the sub menu also shows. Why it does not show at first time? Have you ever encountered such a problem? I fixed the problem with MouseEnter and MouseLeave events, but I still wonder why it does not work properly without the events.

  I have to draw a graph of elements composing a topological model of a physical network. There would be nodes and arches, and the latter could be unidirectional or bidirectional. I would like to capture the clicking events for the nodes and the arches (to select the element and show its properties somewhere), and the dragging events for the nodes (to move them around) and arches (to connect or disconnect elements). I've done some research and I've narrowed the alternatives down to OGL (Object Graphics Library) and FloatCanvas. I would not like to go down to the DrawingContext, but it is not discarded if necessary. Which canvas option would you choose?

• IE 8 specifying background-color changes element behavior

  I have an absolutely positioned div on which I am trying to trigger mouseenter and mouseleave events. In IE8/7 with the background-color of the div left unspecified (so that it defaults to transparent), the mouseenter/leave events are not firing when the cursor crosses the div's boundary, only somewhere in the middle of the div and when the cursor is over any text within the div. When I attempt to debug the problem by adding a background color to the div (e.g. background-color: green), the problem magically goes away. The div's box model is honored perfectly and mouseenter/leave fire as when expected. It's only when the div's background color is left unspecified (or even explicitly set to transparent) that it doesn't behave correctly. Any ideas? Googling for this IE bug/quirk is coming up with nothing.

• How do I group a SSRS report by month?

  I have a set of data that includes a field with the datetime that events happen. i want to group the events by month. I haven't come across a simple and elegant expression to achieve this. So far all I can come up with is to convert the field to a date, then take the year and month as integers and then convert this back to a string with the day set to 1. In Crystal Reports I would group on the datetime field and then set the period to month, very easy. I am sure there is an easy answer to this that I haven't been able to find.

• How to shutdown local tomcat server when closing browser window?

  Hi, I hava a web app running on a local tomcat server. When the user starts the app (via desktop shortcut) the server starts and the app is opened in a browser window. But when the user just clicks on the close button to stop the application the server is still running in the background - that's annoying. I tried to utilize the "unonload" and "onbeforeunload" events from javascript but unfortunately these events are also fired on some other requests in the app. So I can't use them, except I do a lot of refactoring. Does anyone have an idea for a possible solution? Btw, what I find interesting is the behaviour of Visual Studio when debugging a web application. When I close the browser window Visual Studio also gets a trigger to stop debug mode. So it seems it somehow notices the close event of the browser window, which would be exactly what I need. • Binding keys from specific device in X.org

  I have a remote control for presentations, which generates Next/Prior key events in X.org (Page up/down). I'd like to use these for navigating in playlist (using MPD, but it probably does not matter). The problem is that I want to make this control work all the time (without application having focus) and I don't want to lose Page up/down functionality from normal keyboard. Is there some application which would allow me to bind actions to events from specific keyboard? Or is there simple way to implement such thing on my own?

• Is there such a thing as a dektop application event aggregator, similar to that used in Prism?

  The event aggregator in Prism is great, and allows loosely coupled communication between modules within a composite application. Does such a thing exist that allows the same thing to happen between standalone applications running on a user's desktop? I could imagine developing a solution that uses WCF with TCP binding and running inside Windows Process Activation Service. Client applications could subscribe or publish events to this service as required and it would ensure all other listeners get notified of events as appropriate. Using TCP would enable event messages to be pushed out to clients without the need for polling, ensuring messages are delivered very quickly. I can't help but think though that such a thing would already exist... Is anyone aware of something like this, or have any advice on how it may be best implemented?

WebBrowser control has many events such as Navigated, GotFocus etc. I need to handle an event when HTML is rendered inside the control. Just wondered is it possible. For example, in asp.net we have OnRender, OnInit, OnLoad, OnPreLoad events which form web-page life-cycle.   Just want to start out by saying this seems like a great site, hope you guys can help! I'm trying to use the structure laid out in LunarLander to create a simple game in which the user can drag some bitmaps around on the screen (the actual game is more complex, but that's not important). I ripped out the irrelevant parts of LanderLander, and set up my own bitmap drawing, something like BoardThread (an inner class of BoardView): run() { while(mRun) { canvas = lockSurfaceHolder... syncronized(mSurfaceHolder) { /* drawStuff using member position fields in BoardView */ } unlockSurfaceHolder } } My drawStuff simply walks through some arrays and throws bitmaps onto the canvas. All that works fine. Then I wanted to start handling touch events so that when the user presses a bitmap, it is selected, when the user unpresses a bitmap, it is deselected, and if a bitmap is selected during a touch move event, the bitmap is dragged. I did this stuff by listening for touch events in the BoardView's parent, BoardActivity, and passing them down into the BoardView. Something like In BoardView handleTouchEvent(MotionEvent e) { synchronized(mSurfaceHolder) { /* Modify shared member fields in BoardView so BoardThread can render the bitmaps */ } } This ALSO works fine. I can drag my tiles around the screen no problem. However, every once in a while, when the app first starts up and I trigger my first touch event, the handleTouchEvent stops executing at the synchronized line (as viewed in DDMS). The drawing loop is active during this time (I can tell because a timer changes onscreen), and it usually takes several seconds or more before a bunch of touch events come through the pipeline and everything is fine again. This doesn't seem like deadlock to me, since the draw loop is constantly going in and out of its syncronized block. Shouldn't this allow the event handling thread to grab a lock on mSurfaceHolder? What's going on here? Anyone have suggestions for improving how I've structured this? Some other info. This "hang" only ever occurs on first touch event after activity start. This includes on orientation change after restoreState has been called. Also, I can remove EVERYTHING within the syncronized block in the event handler, and it will still get hung up at the syncronized call. Thanks!

Sadly, following happens: The input <root><c/></root> gets transformed to <root><c><c/></root> I know, from XML point of view, these are equal trees, but not for a human ;) What can I do to get the same output? FYI: I need a XMLEvent[Reader|Writer] pair later to filter "XML events".

• jquery - targetting a select using $this

  I am trying to get individual selects (which have the same class as other selects) to respond to a .change function, however it only works on one of the selects. If you test out this code it will make more sense. Try to add a few "ON/OFF events", and then select "Specified Time" in the various selects. You'll see only the first one responds. Any ideas? • Time diff calculations where date and time are in seperate columns

  I've got a query where I'm trying to get the hours in duration (eg 6.5 hours) between two different times. In my database, time and date are held in different fields so I can efficiently query on just a startDate, or endDate as I never query specifically on time. My query looks like this SELECT COUNT(*), IFNULL(SUM(TIMEDIFF(endTime,startTime)),0) FROM events WHERE user=18 Sometimes an event will go overnight, so the difference between times needs to take into account the differences between the dates as well. I've been trying SELECT COUNT(*), IFNULL(SUM(TIMEDIFF(CONCAT(endDate,' ',endTime),CONCAT(startDate,' ',startTime))),0) FROM events WHERE user=18 Unfortunately I only get errors when I do this, and I can't seem to combine the two fields into a single timestamp.

• How can I disable the F4 key from showing the items in a ComboBox

  You might not know this, but pressing the F4 key on a ComboBox makes it's drop-down item list appear. I believe this is the default behavior on Windows. Does anyone know how to override this behavior in WPF (C#)? I know that overriding default behavior is generally seen as bad practice, however in this case I have a rugged-device that runs XP Embedded. It has a handful of prominent Function keys (F1-F6) that need to trigger different events. This works fine, however when focused over a ComboBox the events aren't triggered as the ComboBox drops down. I have tried catching the KeyDown event both on the form and on the ComboBox and listening for the F4 key, however it doesn't get this far as the key press must be handled at a lower level. Any ideas? Thanks.

• iOS subview widget hooked up to multiple controllers

  So, I want to create a reusable widget as a xib and subview that can appear on a set amount of specific screens. This widget will have three buttons, each with an Action. I want to be able to handle these actions on multiple viewcontrollers. So say ViewControllerA, ViewControllerD, and ViewControllerF can handle the three button events, each in their own way. I've created the nib file. How do I import it into the specific viewcontrollers, and then how do I wire up those events? EDIT: I know that I could potentially get outlets set up via a viewcontroller, but Apple states that UIViewController is for full-screen views only, and my widget is only taking up a small portion of the screen.

• RemoteWebDriver doesn't work with xpath
