    Why is MainFrame better choice to stores data related to customer, orders etc? I work with a online retail store, they use .net technologies for applications and MainFrames for storing product, customer, order etc related data. Is SQL DB server not a good option for these type of applications? How is MainFrames better choice than SQL DB? Please provide your insight.

The gateway's client will address files by ID: /file_gw/download/1 Internally, the file itself is accessed via HTTP from an internal file server: http://internal-srv/path/to/file_1.content The files may be quite large, so I want to stream the content.   • How do you label output variables in an IDL FOR loop for further processing outside the loop in the same program?

    I have a FOR loop like this: FOR k = 1,216 DO atom = G[,0::(215+k)] END What I would like to be able to do is to store in memory the array for each atom, say, atom_k and then call these different variables to perform further operations outside the FOR loop. Conceptually, I want to label the "atom" variable with the "k" counter somewhat like this: FOR k = 1,216 DO atom(k) = G[,0::(215+k)] END Of course, this doesn't work because "k" is no longer a label in this case. Does anyone know?

For example, like this: type my_type = int; // or string, or Foo, or any other type void* data = ...; my_type* a = (my_type*) data; I know that 99.9% of the time there's a better way to do what you want without resorting to casting void pointers, but I'm curious if C++ allows this sort of thing.

  • If I never ever use HashSet, should I still implement GetHashCode?

    I never need to store objects in a hash table. The reason is twofold: coming up with a good hash function is difficult and error prone. an AVL tree is almost always fast enough, and it merely requires a strict order predicate, which is much easier to implement. The Equals() operation on the other hand is a very frequently used function. Therefore I wonder whether it is necessary to implement GetHashCode (which I never need) when implementing the Equals function (which I often need)?
