• Why can't I connect to my home SSH (SFTP) server? What am I doing wrong?

  I am new to this topic of creating a SFTP server on one's computer. I would like to be able to access the folder on my Windows XP computer via SFTP from another computer or a phone. The following is what I have done so far: I have installed SSH Windows and everything is setup correctly because I can access it (the folder on my pc) via WinSCP. I however cannot access it from my phone. It doesn't connect. The phone can be on the same wireless network as the Windows XP computer, but I would prefer to be able to access this when not in the same network. Now, from what I have read and understood, the following is the information needed to connect: 1) Host Name: This would be my computer's ip address which I access by typing ipconfig in a cmd prompt (I access this easily on my computer because I simply put in localhost or 127.0.0.1) 2) Port Number: That would be port 22 (I have also added this to my router in the port forwarding section). 3) Username: This would be my Windows XP username. This however is my full name, including my middle initial followed by a period. I am wondering if this is maybe causing problems in accessing it from my phone, since the name has spaces and punctuation (the period). 4) Password: The password of my Windows XP computer Extra Info: When I say phone, I mean an Android phone and I am using an ftp / sftp app to access my pc via the phone's cellular network (I also tried the wireless, but that didn't work as well). I have tried more than one program. On one program it tells me Connection timed out and on another it tells me "timeout:socket is not established" Also, I know that I can use the site noip, but I prefer to connect this way first. Also, because I am new to this, I would like to look into what exactly noip is doing and if they would be seeing my files as they are transferred from phone to pc. • Graphics card ATI Asus 9250 128 MB AGP problem.Monitor switching off.

  I have an old system with these specs: Motherboard: Via P4x266a (with AGP 4x) CPU: P4 1,7 Ghz Memory: 1152 MB DDR SDRAM Graphics card: Voodoo 3 2000 16 MB PSU: 300 Watt It also has 1 dvd-rom, 1 dvd-rw, 2 hard drives (all 4 connected via molex) , 1 sounblaster sound card and 1 ethernet card (both connected via pci). OS: XP Pro Recently I bought Asus 9250 128 MB AGP to replace voodoo.Wnen I switch on the pc the initial screens (until after the xp logo) sometimes are distorted with blurred colours.When XP are loaded there is some flickering but the rest are ok.XP can't recognize the card seeing it as just a VGA adapter.I have downloaded the latest xp drivers from ATI website and installed them.Then after the restart everything is ok (no distorted image or blurring) until after the xp logo.After this the monitor turns off while the pc is still running.I have tried many drivers but the problem persists (of course I removed the voodoo drivers before from the display adapter properties).Only once I have managed to enter XP (after changing BIOS features for graphics card from 256 MB to 128 MB) but the drivers on the control panel had an exclamation mark (ati 9250!) and below them ati 9250 secondary without ! under the display adapter tab and the ATI catalyst program said that it couldn;t find the card.That was the opnly time I went beyond the xp logo.Now the monitor auto switcheS off. So, what do you think? 1)Is this a broken card? 2)Is it the drivers of the card? 3)Is it PSU fault? 4)Anything else? Thanks for your help and excuse my english!

• Different behaviour when running exe from command prompt than in windows

  Forgive me if I'm not using the correct terminology here but I'll try to explain the issue I'm having as best I can! We use a program that allows you to view video footage from several cameras, and it works in such a way that when it is opened it then automatically loads several video files within its interface. These video files are stored in a subfolder, e.g. "videos\video1.asf", etc. I didn't create the program so I can't say what method it uses to open the files. The files are stored on a network server and are being accessed via a share/UNC path. When the file is run from windows explorer (by navigating to the network share and double-clicking the exe), it works perfectly. When the file is run via the (elevated) command prompt (e.g. by typing the \server\path\to\file.exe) it opens, but the corresponding video files do not load. I am trying to create a script that launches the program via the command prompt, so the first step is finding out why the two actions above have different consequences. Any advice on how running executables from the command prompt could produce a different result would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

• Too many connections to Sql Server 2008

  I have an application in C# Framework 4.0. Like many app this one connects to a data base to get information. In my case this database is SqlServer 2008 Express. The database is in my machine In my data layer I’m using Enterprise Library 5.0 When I publish my app in my local machine (App Pool Classic) Windows Professional IIS 7.5 The application works fine. I’m using this query to check the number of connections my application is creating when I’m testing it. SELECT db_name(dbid) as DatabaseName, count(dbid) as NoOfConnections, loginame as LoginName FROM sys.sysprocesses WHERE dbid > 0 AND db_name(dbid) = 'MyDataBase' GROUP BY dbid, loginame When I start testing the number of connection start growing but at some point the max number of connection is 26. I think that’s ok because the app works When I publish the app to TestMachine1 • XP Mode Virtual Machine (Windows XP Professional) • IIS 5.1 It works fine, the behavior is the same, the number of connections to the database increment to 24 or 26, after that they stay at that point no matter what I do in the application. The problem: When I publish to TestMachine2 (App Pool Classic) • Windows Server 2008 R2 • IIS 7.5 I start to test the application the number of connection to the database start to grow but this time they grow very rapidly and don’t stop growing at 24 or 26, the number of connections grow till the get to be 100 and the application stop working at that point. I have check for any difference on the publications, especially in Windows Professional and Windows Server and they seem with the same parameters and configurations. Any clues why this could be happening? , any suggestions?

• How can I document and automate a system's configuration?

  Having a system's configuration represented by its current state is risky, inefficient, and opaque. At some point you may be left with an unsupported system and no upgrade path. Then configuring a new system compatible with the old is a process or trial and error. Furthermore, if at some point the system is damaged the only option is to go back to the most recent full backup, and try to remember what changes followed from that point. Also, the only way to create a system compatible with the original is through a complete dump/restore. Finally, in such a setup there's no way to know how you solved a particular problem; the only thing you can do is to look at the corresponding configuration files and try to guess what you changed to achieve the desired effect. Currently for each system I maintain, I keep a log file where I record all system administration activity, starting from the installation: installation options, added packages, changes in configuration files, updates, problem fixes etc. In theory this allows me to (manually) replay all changes to arrive at the current state, or to unroll an erroneous change by executing the reverse commands. However, this process is also inefficient, error-prone, and relies on human judgment. Another thing I've tried is to put /etc configuration files under version control with git. This helps me document the changes automatically and also apply them on a clean setup. But it's not without problems: git has to run under sudo, passwords and private keys may be stored in the repository, installed packages can't be meaningfully tracked, and git will have a fit if I try to extend this approach to all the system's directories. I've also thought about performing all changes through shell scripts or makefiles, but I think this process will require a lot of effort and will be fragile. Are there some better methods or tools that I'm missing?

I am trying to create simple touch game using EmguCV.Should I use optical flow to determine for interaction between images on screen and with my hand ,if changes of points somewhere on screen more than 100 where the image, it means my hand is over image? But how can I track this new points?   I am filling Uitextfield with Uibutton click event.(e.g. clicking on BUTTONA will add 'a' to textfield.). my problem is that when inserted text reaches the end of textfield, further characters inserted into textfield via UIbutton are not visible.instead ... is seen . how to let text inside Uitextfield scroll to left when width of UItextfield is reached(just like when we enter characters in UItextfield via keyboard) ?   I'm working on sending out an html based email, and every time it sends the image src tags and some of the anchor href tags are modified to be relative url's. Update 2: This is happening between when the body of the email is generated and sent and when it arrives in my inbox. Update: I am using Postfix on a LAMPP server. In addition, I am using Zend_Mail to send the emails out. • Delphi TBytesField - How to see the text properly - Source is HIT OLEDB AS400

  We are connecting to a multi-member AS400 iSeries table via HIT OLEDB and HIT ODBC. You connect to this table via an alias to access a specific multi-member. We create the alias on the AS400 this way: CREATE ALIAS aliasname FOR table(membername) We can then query each member of the table this way: SELECT * FROM aliasname We are testing this in Delphi6 first, but will move it to D2010 later We are using HIT OLEDB for the AS400. We are pulling down records from a table and the field is being seen as a tBytesField. I have also tried ODBC driver and it sees as tBytesField as well. Directly on the AS400 I can query the data and see readable text. I can use the iSeries Navigation tool and see readable text as well. However when I bring it down to the Delphi client via the HIT OLEDB or HIT ODBC and try to view via asString then I just see unreadable text.. something like this: ñðð@ðõñððððñ÷@õôððõñòøóóöøñðÂÁÕÒ@ÖÆ@ÁÔÅÙÉÃÁ@@@@@@@@ÂÈÙÉâãæÁðòñè@ÔK@k@ÉÕÃK@@@@@@@@@ç I jumbled up the text above, but that is the character types that show up. When I did a test in D2010 the text looks like japanse or chinese characters, but if I display as AnsiString then it looks like what it does in Delphi 6. I am thinking this may have something to do with code pages or character sets, but I have no experience in this are so it is new to me if it is related. When I look at the Coded Character Set on the AS400 it is set to 65535. What do I need to do to make this text readable? We do have a third party component (Delphi400) that makes things behave in a more native AS400 manner. When I use its AS400 connection and AS400 query components it shows the field as a tStringField and displays just fine. BUT we are phasing out this product (for a number of reasons) and would really like the OLEDB with the ADO components work. Just for clarification the HIT OLEDB with tADOQuery do have some fields showing as tStringFields for many of the other tables we use... not sure why it is showing as a tBytesField in this case. I am not an AS400 expert, but looking at the field definititions on the AS400 the ones showing up as tBytesField look the same as the ones showing up as tStringFields... but there must be a difference. Maybe due to being a multi-member? So... does anyone have any guidance on how to get the correct string data that is readable? If you need more info please ask. Greg

I can also define parameters under the Command element in the menus extension point when defining menu contributions. I can define a value for the parameter here. Are the command parameters in Command different from parameters in menu contributions? If they are different how are they different?

• Best Practice for Images with Codeigniter : Generating Thumbs or Resizing on the Fly

  Hi all, I know there’s been a good deal written on thumbnail generation and the like with CI, but I wanted to explain what I’ve made and see what kind of best-practice advice I could find. Here’s my story… Currently, I have a site which allows users to upload collections of photos to projects they’ve created after first creating an account. Upon account creation, the site generates folders for the users in the following fashion for each of five pre-defined projects: /students/username/project_num/images/thumbs/ (This is to say that within a pre-created students folder, the username, project_num, images and thumbs folders are created recursively five times.) When a user uploads images to a project, I have a gallery controller which uploads the full images into the images folder for the project_num, and then creates a smaller thumbnail which maintains its ratio. So far so good. On the index page of the site, where these thumbnails and full images are displayed, I had a bit of a brain lapse, thinking I could simply output the full image while resizing it via css for a ‘medium-size’ image which would lead to the full-size image when clicked. (To be clear, the path is: Click on thumbnail— Load scaled full-size (medium-size) image via ajax into a display area above thumbs— Click on medium-sized image— Load full size image via lightbox, or something of that nature.) I have everything working to this point, except, as one might imagine, resizing the full-sized images with css doesn’t maintain aspect ratio for the thumbs, which means I need to find the best way to resize these. In thinking about it, I figured I had two options: I could resize the image on the fly when the user clicks a thumbnail to load the medium-sized image via ajax. (I have a method ‘get_image($url)’ in my gallery controller which simply loads a view with an image tag and the image source passed to it, etc.) I thought perhaps I could send it first to my gallery model, resize it there on the fly, and send it on to the view. The problem I’m having is that resizing it on the fly and echoing it out gives me the raw image data (I apologize, I don’t know that’s the right term). I’ve tried using data_uris to format the raw data into something echoable, but with no success. Is this method possible? The second option I considered was to generate a second medium-sized thumbnail when the user uploads the image with maintain_ratio set to true. This method is slightly less ideal, given that when providing a way for the user to delete their projects, I’ll need to scan for an additional set of images to delete. Not a huge deal, definitely, but something I figured could be avoided by generating the medium-sized image on the fly. I hope I’ve been clear in my explanations, if long-winded!
