  • Array passing between classes, gone?

    Hey guys . i have two classes, SelectionScreenTable & GraphView. In the SelectionScreenTable class .h, i declared a NSMutableArray called usagedatas NSMutableArray *usagedatas; } @property (nonatomic, retain) NSMutableArray *usagedatas; In the SelectionScreenTable class.m i remembered to @synthesize. Later on, while processing my methods, i did a NSLog(@"usagedatas count:%i",usagedatas.count); to check whether it has value and it returned 1. so yeah its good up to this point. And in the -(void) dealloc , i remembered to released it . [usagedatas release]; So now comes ME trying to use it in another class. In GraphView.m i imported the "SelectionScreenTable.h". in the -(void)viewDidLoad i did SelectionScreenTable *UD = [SelectionScreenTable alloc]; NSLog(@"GraphView UD.usagedataas.count = :%i",UD.usagedatas.count); it returned 0. Any idea guys?

  • GUID or int entity key with SQL Compact/EF4?

    This is a follow-up to an earlier question I posted on EF4 entity keys with SQL Compact. SQL Compact doesn't allow server-generated identity keys, so I am left with creating my own keys as objects are added to the ObjectContext. My first choice would be an integer key, and the previous answer linked to a blog post that shows an extension method that uses the Max operator with a selector expression to find the next available key: public static TResult NextId<TSource, TResult>(this ObjectSet<TSource> table, Expression<Func<TSource, TResult>> selector) where TSource : class { TResult lastId = table.Any() ? table.Max(selector) : default(TResult); if (lastId is int) { lastId = (TResult)(object)(((int)(object)lastId) + 1); } return lastId; } Here's my take on the extension method: It will work fine if the ObjectContext that I am working with has an unfiltered entity set. In that case, the ObjectContext will contain all rows from the data table, and I will get an accurate result. But if the entity set is the result of a query filter, the method will return the last entity key in the filtered entity set, which will not necessarily be the last key in the data table. So I think the extension method won't really work. At this point, the obvious solution seems to be to simply use a GUID as the entity key. That way, I only need to call Guid.NewGuid() method to set the ID property before I add a new entity to my ObjectContext. Here is my question: Is there a simple way of getting the last primary key in the data store from EF4 (without having to create a second ObjectContext for that purpose)? Any other reason not to take the easy way out and simply use a GUID? Thanks for your help.

    Hello all, I am using ASP MVC and SQL Server and I have a database that is updated intermittently with expected wait times for some event. Also, I am using some ajax and jquery. I need to display the average and maximum wait times. How can I take the entire list of time from the server and get the average time? Also, what would be the best method to simply grab a new time from the server when it is updated without having to pull the whole list again? Thanks!

    I'm trying in an asp web application to code a function that would loop through a list of files in a multiple upload form and send them one by one. Is this something that can be done in ASP? Because I've read some posts about how to attach several files together, but saw nothing about looping through the files. There is a numerical field on the form and I would like to sort the results by this number (highest first). How would I go about doing this in jQuery?   • Randomly sorting an array

    Does there exist an algorithm which, given an ordered list of symbols {a1, a2, a3, ..., ak}, produces in O(n) time a new list of the same symbols in a random order without bias? "Without bias" means the probability that any symbol s will end up in some position p in the list is 1/k. Assume it is possible to generate a non-biased integer from 1-k inclusive in O(1) time. Also assume that O(1) element access/mutation is possible, and that it is possible to create a new list of size k in O(k) time. In particular, I would be interested in a 'generative' algorithm. That is, I would be interested in an algorithm that has O(1) initial overhead, and then produces a new element for each slot in the list, taking O(1) time per slot. If no solution exists to the problem as described, I would still like to know about solutions that do not meet my constraints in one or more of the following ways (and/or in other ways if necessary): the time complexity is worse than O(n). the algorithm is biased with regards to the final positions of the symbols. the algorithm is not generative. I should add that this problem appears to be the same as the problem of randomly sorting the integers from 1-k, since we can sort the list of integers from 1-k and then for each integer i in the new list, we can produce the symbol ai.

    I have a php variable that comes from a form that needs tidying up. I hope you can help. The variable contains a list of items (possibly two or three word items with a space in between words). I want to convert it to a comma separated list with no superfluous white space. I want the divisions to fall only at commas, semi-colons or new-lines. Blank cannot be an item. Here's a comprehensive example (with a deliberately messy input): Variable In: "dog, cat ,car,tea pot,, ,,, ;;(++NEW LINE++)fly, cake" Variable Out "dog,cat,car,tea pot,fly,cake" Can anyone help?

    i have an unsigned short dst[16][16] matrix and a larger unsigned char src[m][n] matrix. Now i have to access in the src matrix and add a 16x16 submatrix to dst, using sse2 or ss3. In a my older implementation, I was sure that my summed values ??were never greater than 256, so i could do this: for (int row = 0; row < 16; ++row) { __m128i subMat = _mm_lddqu_si128(reinterpret_cast<const __m128i*>(src)); dst[row] = _mm_add_epi8(dst[row], subMat); src += W; // Step to next row i need to add } where W is an offset to reach the desired rows. This code works, but now my values in src are larger and summed could be greater than 256, so i need to store them as ushort. i've tried this: for (int row = 0; row < 16; ++row) { __m128i subMat = _mm_lddqu_si128(reinterpret_cast<const __m128i*>(src)); dst[row] = _mm_add_epi16(dst[row], subMat); src += W; // Step to next row i need to add } but it doesn't work.     At the very beginning of the javascript file, I have: var lbp = {}; lbp.defaults = { minLength: 40 }; I can successfully alert it afterwards, with: alert(lbp.defaults.minLength); But as soon as I put it inside a function, when I alert, I get "Undefined". What gives, and how do I avoid this? Is it absolutely necessary to pass this variable into each function, for example, by doing: function(lbp) { alert(lbp.defaults.minLength); } I would have thought that defining it first, it would attain global scope and not be required to be passed in?     I have this situation: { float foo[10]; for (int i = 0; i < 10; i++) { foo[i] = 1.0f; } object.function1(foo); // stores the float pointer to a const void* member of object } object.function2(); // uses the stored void pointer Are the contents of the float pointer unknown in the second function call? It seems that I get weird results when I run my program. But if I declare the float foo[10] to be const and initialize it in the declaration, I get correct results. Why is this happening?

    Hi I am currently needing to load the contents of a folders filenames to an arraylist I have but I am unsure as how to do this. I don't see any problem. Any ideas ? Unrolling the copy and performing the explicit loop over the columns works in both compilers. Note that with allocatable instead of pointer I have no problems. The behavior is the same if the statement is either inside a module or not. I confirm the same behavior on Linux using ifort (IFORT) 12.1.3 20120130.
