  Note, my question is not: how do I tell my compiler to compile with profiling on. I want to profile my compiles process. For each file, I'd like to know how much time is spent on each line of the program. I'm working on a project, some files have huge compile times, I'm trying to figure out why.   If I have 'export BLA="hey there"' in .profile in my home directory, how can I change this later in other directories just by cd into the other directory? Also, is there a way to just set a new environment variable when I cd into a directory. My first attempt was to just make another .bashrc file in the directory where I want the change but apparently that proved less than effective. I'm on OS X btw.

• Application Profiling: Memory Usage

  Hello all, I have switched on the Codeigniter profile (very useful) and I have noticed that a page of mine shows the memory used as: 2,405,496 bytes That's ~2MB and it's for one request - does it mean if 1000 users accessed this page at the same time, memory usage will be 2GB? Have I got my maths wrong or is there more to this than just multiplying two numbers? Thanks all for any help
