• Linq2XML not getting content of a node that contains html tags

  Hi, I have an XML file that I'm trying to parse with Linq2XML. One of the nodes contains a bit of html, that I cannot retrieve. The XML resembles to: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?> <root> <image><img src="/Images/m1cznk4a6fh7.jpg" /></image> <contentType>Banner</contentType> </root> The code is: XDocument document = XDocument.Parse(content.XML); XElement imageElement = document.Descendants("image").SingleOrDefault(); image = imageElement.Value; // Doesn't get the content, while if I specify .Descendants("contentType") it works Any ideas?   Hello all! I am working on some project which requires some HTML visualizing control (WinForms). Currently I am aware only of two such a controls: AxWebBrowser (as far as I understand this is IE-based ActiveX control for winforms) Nabu HTMLView (open source library with visualizing capabilities). Are there any other choices? What are their cons and pros? How configurable they are? For example I want to disable navigation and scripts, hook onto loading methods to override resources loading and so on.

• ASP.NET: images broken when combining URL Rewriting, asp:ImageButton and html base tag

  Hi, I'm using URL Rewriting under ASP.NET 4 (using ISAPI_Rewrite) and I'm finding that that some of my images are not loading as .NET does not seem to understand I'm using an html BASE tag (pretty standard and essential when doing URL Rewriting): eg in my development environment I have: <base href='http://localhost/venuefinder/Website/'></base> and on my pages I have: <asp:ImageButton runat="server" ImageUrl="~/images/button.gif" /> On the home page of the site (http://localhost/venuefinder/Website/) this works fine, however on a page that uses URL rewriting, the image does not work: /venuefinder/Website/venues/ashton_gate_stadium/V18639/ ..as the browser is trying to load: http://localhost/images/buttons/search-button.gif instead of: http://localhost/venuefinder/Website/venues/images/buttons/search-button.gif This is happening because .NET is rendering the button as: src="../../../images/buttons/search-button.gif" ...which is incorrect. Is there any way I can correct this problem so that .NET renders the correct src attribute for the image? (without all the ../../../ etc)

When my application targets .Net 3.5 This code <%= Html.ActionLink("Forgot your password?","ForgotPassword") %> renders this: <a href="/Account/ForgotPassword">Forgot your password?</a> When my application targets .Net 4.0 The same code renders: <a href="">Forgot your password?</a> It's dropping the url part. backwards compatibility is supposedly enabled in my web.config. <pages controlRenderingCompatibilityVersion="3.5" clientIDMode="AutoID"> Ideas?

• Sending Outlook 2007 Meeting Request with HTML Body

  I know that Outlook.ApointmentItem.Body only supports plain and rich text formats. But my requirement is to send the Appointment with a Html body. Currently I am saving the ApointmentItem as an ics file and attaching it to the e-mail. This works but the outcome that I am looking for is that it is received as a meeting request. I.e. I receive this e-mail I can see the body and have the option to respond to the meeting request. I tried forwarding the AppointmentItem as a vCal but that does not work either. I am I headed in the right direction? Thanks

  I have the following string: <div id="mydiv">This is a "div" with quotation marks</div> I want to use regular expressions to return the following: <div id='mydiv'>This is a "div" with quotation marks</div> Notice how the id attribute in the div is now surrounded by apostrophes? How can I do this with a regular expression? Edit: I'm not looking for a magic bullet to handle every edge case in every situation. We should all be weary of using regex to parse HTML but, in this particular case and for my particular need, regex IS the solution...I just need a bit of help getting the right expression.

After the user change "Value 1" or "Value 2" I would like to call a Controller and put the result (some HTML snippet) in the div marked as "Result of...". I have some vague notions of JQuery. I know how to bind to the onchange event of the Select element, and call the $.ajax() function, for example. But I wonder if this can be achieved in a more efficient way in ASP.NET MVC2.

  I would like to use a html/css/js view in my webstart project without requesting all permissions. I figured out that I could use the java HTTPServer to process the requests but I need a way to avoid using real sockets, so that the HTTPServer instantiation doesn't ask for some permission. Do you know any projects that achieve that ? and if not, what should I do to get an HTTPServer completely working locally (without hitting boundaries...) ? edit: maybe an HTTPServer is too much, I maybe only need a HttpHandler..

• Rails, REST Architecture and HTML 5: Cross domain requests with pre-flight requests

  While working on a project to make our site HTML 5 friendly, we were eager to embrace the new method for Cross Domain requests (no more posting through hidden iframes!!!). Using the Access Control specification we begin setting up some tests to verify the behaviour of various browsers. The current Rails RESTful architecture relies on the four HTTP verbs: GET, POST, PUT, DELETE. However in the Access Control spec, it dictates that non-simple methods (PUT, DELETE) require a pre-flight request using the HTTP verb OPTIONS. In addition during testing we discovered that Firefox 3.5.8 pre-flight POST requests as well. My question is this. Is anyone aware of any project for the Rails framework working to address the issue? If not, any opinions about the best strategy to support the OPTIONS method, since it has to support the routes for all the POST, PUT, DELETE methods?

  I have a HTML button. I have tried to render a tooltip on it based on the "title" attribute of the button and it doesn't render. Mainly because it's disabled. I then tried wrapping the button in a span and setting the "title" attribute of the span. Hovering over the button that is wrapped in the span still has no effect. The tooltip will render on any other part of the span that is not part of the button tag. Like if i put some text in the span as well as the button, hovering over the text produces the tooltip, but if you hover over the button it will not render. So: how can I display a tooltip for a disabled button?

  I have a fairly large CSS file developed by my web designer. There are, of course, plenty of IDs, classes and tag properties assigned therein. Are there any tools to automatically generate HTML based on a CSS source file? For example: #basicInfoHead{ background:url(../images/leftHeaders.jpg) no-repeat; margin-left: 0px; width:185px; height:28px; } #basicInfoHead span{ float: left; } Would generate <div id=basicInfoHead><span>#basicInfoHead span</span></div> Etc etc. From there, I could preview the generated code in my browser, and see what each of the individual (primarily text) styles would look like.   Is there any way to suppress the default js and css loaded by application.html.erb on a view by view basis? I'm finding it incredibly difficult to manage a global css and js includes configuration when certain views need different js libraries that for some reason seem to be conflicting with one another. For example, I might want jquery 1.3 for one view and 1.4.2 for another. I don't necessarily want to have to have an include for every view (I do want to have a global site-wide default), but I would also like to be able to override those for any view I want. Thanks!

  Hello all, I'm trying to use a different directory to contain the applets and other directory with .html pages. Both are in the same level, that is, none is a sub-directory of the other. For that I was trying to use the parameter codebase, however, no matter what I put in codebase value (relative, absolute path) I always get a class not found error. I googled and found some people with the same problem, but no answers:( Does anybody knows how to accomplish this? I'm using JRE 1.6_20. Cheers, Jorge

  About three hours ago I started seeing the above error in my production server. It comes from a call to the sanitize gem: vendor/rails/activerecord/lib/../../activesupport/lib/active_support/dependencies.rb:276:in 'load_missing_constant' vendor/rails/activerecord/lib/../../activesupport/lib/active_support/dependencies.rb:468:in `const_missing' vendor/gems/sanitize-1.2.0/lib/sanitize.rb:91:in `clean!' vendor/gems/sanitize-1.2.0/lib/sanitize.rb:84:in `clean' vendor/gems/sanitize-1.2.0/lib/sanitize.rb:49:in `clean' app/helpers/application_helper.rb:28:in `display_none' app/views/main/_blogs.html.erb:13:in `_run_erb_47app47views47main47_blogs46html46erb' The error only occurs on the production server (linux), not my development machine (windows) I tried rolling back my latest deployment but it didn't fix it. I've updated to sanitize 1.2.0 (which was the latest version brought down by gem update sanitize, though I note my host is running 1.3.6. Can anyone provide any clues to help fix this?

• Converting rich text that contains backslashes to plain text or html

  I am trying to convert a rich text string to plain text or html. I am currently using the RichTextBox.Text feature which works correctly for almost all cases except when the text contains backslashes then some of the text is stripped out as the converter believes that it is part of the rtf formatting. Does anyone have any ideas of how to get the backslashes to stay in that instance. Here is an example of a string I would have {\rtf1\ansi\ansicpg1252\deff0\deflang1033{\fonttbl{\f0\fnil\fcharset0 Arial;}}\viewkind4\uc1\pard\fs17 Testing Export \with comments\par} The text I would need would be "Testing Export \with comments" and the text I am getting back from the rtf converter is "Testing Export comments". Any help would be greatly appreciated. Please respond if you have further questions.
