• WAMP - phpmyadmin 403 error from localhost, but not from IP 127.0.0.1?

  I was wondering if anyone can explain this to me. I installed WAMP 2.2. I opened up the dashboard menu, and clicked localhost. I was brought to the WAMP localhost home page. I clicked on phpmyadmin and get a 403 access is denied error message. However, if I type in the ip address 127.0.0.1/phpmyadmin in the address bar, then VOILA, I am in (however, I am not prompted to login to phpmyadmin, I am instantly brought to the phpmyadmin homepage) Please note, I have found the solution to get rid of the 403 error message when entering phpmyadmin from the the localhost extension (change the Deny all setting to Allow all); so I am not asking how to solve that, but my question is: Why if localhost and 127.0.0.1 go to the same spot, will when using the IP addres, I am granted access to subsequent applications and with localhost I am not? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

• How do I upgrade from ubuntu 9.10 to 12.10 on my Acer Aspire 3000

  I had my Acer Aspire 3000 as a dual boot XP/ubuntu 9.10 a couple years ago. I recently blew the dust of it and wanted to upgrade to 7/Ubuntu 12.10 so I began by formatting the Ubuntu side of the partition and apparently damaged the mbr as I could only get black screen with the error message: GRUB loading. error: no such partition grub rescue I then slaved the hdd to my win7 desktop and formatted the entire drive, both sides of the partition then reinstalled it in the Acer and tried to install win7. Upon starting the Acer I got the same error message: GRUB loading. error: no such partition grub rescue I then tried to reinstall Ubuntu 9.10 as I have an Ubuntu produced installation cd. Same result. Next day I received a new battery I had ordered for the Acer. I plugged it and the power supply in and hit the power button just to see if I at least could charge the battery but to my surprise Ubuntu 9.10 began to install, so I let it and it did. Now the hard drive shows 58 gb and 2.5gb partitions neither of which is formatted NTFS for/by windows. I am guessing that the GRUB/mbr was repaired somehow by the Ubuntu reinstallation. My question, should you choose to accept it; How can I get to my goal of dual boot win7/Ubuntu 12.10. I am a beginner and don't know much about linux or the terminology. • SQL Server 2008 database Backup

  Hi guys, today I was trying to restore a database with a backup I had made previously on another computer, however I kept getting the following error message: the media loaded on "filepath" is formatted to support 2 media families, but 1 media families are expected according to the device specification I didn't look into it at the time, I just figured it was a bad backup and I'd redo it when I got home. So now I'm trying to do another backup, and I'm getting the above error message for that too. I did backup to a different location at one point, however that no longer exists now. Is there a way i can get passed this error and just do a fresh backup of the database? any pointers would be much appreciated :)

• Does SQL Server Management Studio 2008 Activity Monitor work with SQL Server 2000?

  I am trying to use SQL Server Management Studio 2008's Activity Monitor with an SQL Server 2000 instance to diagnose some query performance issues. I can connect SMSS 2008 to the db fine, and use it to browse objects and run queries. But when I press the Activity Monitor button, it pops up an error message saying: Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio This operation does not support connections to Microsoft SQL Server Personal Edition version 8.00.818. This MSDN article implies that Activity Monitor works with SQL Server 2000. Is it the fact that it's Personal Edition that's preventing it from working? The error message isn't clear whether it's the edition or version that's the problem.

• ConfigurationErrorsException when serving images via UNC on IIS6

  I have a virtual directory in my web app which connects to a Samba share via UNC. I can browse the files via Windows Explorer without issue, but my web app throws a yellow screen with the following message: Description: An error occurred during the processing of a configuration file required to service this request. Please review the specific error details below and modify your configuration file appropriately. Parser Error Message: An error occurred loading a configuration file: Could not find file '\cluster\cms\qa-images\120400\web.config'. What makes no sense to me is why it's looking for a web.config in that location. I know it's not an authentication issue because the virtual directory can serve images from its root (i.e. \cluster\cms\qa-images\test.jpg serves as http://myserver/upload/test.jpg just fine).

• NFS mount of /var/www to OS X

  I have spent 2 hours trying to create an NFS mount from my Ubuntu 10.04 LTS server to my OS X desktop system. Objective: three way file compare between the code base on the Mac, the development system on the local Linux test system, and the hosted website. The hosted service uses cpanel so I can mount a webdisk - easy as pie - took 10 seconds. The local Ubuntu box, on the other hand - nothing but pain and frustration. Here is what I have tried: In File Browser, navigate to /var/www/site and right-click. Select share this folder. Enter sharename wwwsite and a comment. Click button "Create Share". Message says - you can only share file systems you own. There is a message on how to fix this, but the killer is that this is sharing by SMB. It will change the LFs to CR-LFs which will affect the file comparison. So forget this option. In a terminal window, run shares-admin (I have not been able to convince it to give me the "Shared Folders" option in the System Administration window - Maybe it is somewhere else in the menu, but I cannot find it) define an NFS export. Enter the path /var/www/site, select NFS enter the ip address of the iMac and save. On the mac, try to mount the file system using the usual methods - finder, command line "mount" command - not found. Nothing. Tried restarting the linux box in case there is a daemon that needs restarting - nothing. So I have run out of stuff to do. I have tried searching the documentation - it is pretty basic. The man page documentation is as opaque as ever. Please, oh please, will someone help me to get this @38&@^# thing to work! Thanks for reading this far... PG.

• Filter tagged threads in Thunderbird

  I have a big issue with Thunderbird, I need to process a lot of emails coming from request tracking system. Since only few of those apply to me personally, I tag these threads with appropriate tags. The issue now is that I would like to filter out threads, that do apply to me and those that I haven't tagged yet. I'm unable to do this, because new emails keep arriving into the already existing threads, and of course, these new emails don't get the tags. Basically I would need some sort of filtering rule, that would apply not to a specific message, but the master message in the thread. Is there some possibility to create such filters, or is there some other facility, that would allow me to do the same? Tags are great, since they are actually saved into the messages and correctly sync across multiple machines when using IMAP.

• Windows 7 fresh install blank screen

  I've just installed Win7 Ultimate to my PC. During the install it reboots a couple of times, but 2nd or 3rd reboot I see the "Starting Windows..." message, but followed by a black screen. No mouse cursor, taskbar, anything. The monitor power light is blue (indicating it has a signal) and it was displaying the setup wizard with no problems whatsoever. Has anyone else witnessed this phenomenon? Many thanks in advance. UPDATE I booted in safe mode, and got a screen saying "Setup is preparing your computer for first use". That's brilliant, although a message box has popped up over that saying: Windows cannot complete instlalation in Safe Mode. To continue installing Windows, restart the computer. So I don't really have the opportunity to do any cleverness with drivers or anything. I guess I could try getting a different version of Win7 (I'm installing from an MSDN DVD).

  I've setup postfix as smarthost with different relayhosts and sender dependant authentication. Everything works ok, but I have a performance question. Is it better to send all the email corresponding to a domain through only one account? I mean, now I'm sending each message authenticating to the relay host with the sender credentials. Example: If I have 5 email accounts and I send 10 simultaneous messages from each account, How many times is postfix login to the relay host if I have sender dependant authentication? 5 times? once for each sender 50 times? once for each message If I send all the messages corresponding to one realy host through one account, how many times does postfix login to the relay host? only once? • Windows boot iso file without press any key

  I'm trying to make an iso file which will boot without any key-press from the user. In Windows iso files, when booting from a cd, there is a message "press any key to boot from cd" which will wait for 5-10 seconds and then, if there is no key-press, it will boot from HD. I searched the web for how to remove this message, and do not press any key and all the answers were "delete bootfix.bin" from the iso. I edited the iso (I've tried several iso files) to remove the bootfix.bin, but now the iso is not correct. Do you have any suggestions?

  I run a win 2k8 a/d server and an win 2k8 exchange 07 server I have a group called 'No Internet Mail', i made it a distribution group. I tried to setup a transport rule on the exchange server that is configured as follows for outgoing: from a member of no internet mail and sent to users outside the organization redirect the message to administrator and send message refused, forwarded to administrator. Please talk to management for external email use. however , when i enable this it forwards everyones emails to me regardless if they are a member of the no internet mail group or not. not sure what im doing wrong, thanks in advanced.

• Using a Group Managed Service Account (gMSA) for a scheduled task

  Back in Windows Server 2008 R2, when stand-alone Managed Service Accounts (sMSA) were new, they could not be used to execute scheduled tasks. In Windows Server 2012 however, there is a new type of account called the Group Managed Service Account (gMSA). This type of account is supposedly capable of launching scheduled tasks in the task scheduler on clients & member servers inside of a Windows Server 2012 forest/domain functional level. • Is there a way to get Postfix to both forward an e-mail *and* reject it via recipient_address_rejected

  In postfix, I'd like a way to deal with e-mail accounts that are no longer active by having postfix send the standard "Recipient address rejected" type message, but still forwarding the e-mail to another user. Thus, if someone sends an e-mail to [email protected], it will bounce the message back to the sender for future reference, but the mail will still get forwarded to [email protected] to deal with. .vacation and / or .forward files let me down because they will either reply or forward, but not both. Any tips?

• My home partition slowly fills up until the system is unable to complete even simple tasks

  So I have an awesome configuration on my home pc. My /home directory has its own partition. My home partition slowly fills up until the system is unable to complete even simple tasks. For example, when this issue has occured, I can load up firefox. It just pops up an error message saying that it cannot be done. Rebooting solves the issue. The strange thing is, I've run baobab and it doesn't notice a problem. There should be hundreds of gigabytes of data somewhere, but it doesn't see it. Does anyone have any idea of how I might troubleshoot this issue? I'm thinking I could do lsof but I've always found the output of that to be too much information. Maybe my drive is, like, dying. Edit: is there a /home analog of /var that gets cleared out at boot time? Maybe I could check in there next time I notice this problem to see if I can divine what's up. Update: I found the issue. my .xsession-errors file is filling up with Authentication deferred - ignoring client message Is there a way I can see what is causing this error and fix it?

• Outlook 2010 stopped marking messages as read after reading them

  Yesterday I noticed that Outlook 2010 had stopped marking messages as read unless I right click and select Mark as Read. I have checked the Reading Panel settings (it's set to 0 seconds), but I don't use the reading panel to read my mail. When I open a message by doubleclicking it, then close it again, the message is still marked as Read. Outlook 2010 is connecting to Exchange Server 2003. This was working fine until yesterday. As far as I know there have been no config changes at either the client or server end.

• Application or plugin for turning screenshots into searchable text?

  It's a common practice in our company that people take screenshots of any software error situation they get into, and then they paste the screenshots in mail messages and/or Word documents that get sent and forwarded back and forth. I have lots of stuff like this in my Outlook mail archives, and the problem with it is, the screenshots aren't searchable, because they're just dumb images as far as Outlook or Windows Search are concerned. Sometimes I edit the original mail messages and type the text (typically an error message) from the screenshot into the message, but quite rarely, because it's slow and prone to typing errors. Is there a program or Outlook or Windows plugin that would OCR and index images in the Outlook mail archives, so the image contents would become indexable?

• Winlogon Application Error

  This error is happening to 6 out of 32 computers. I have created a base image from scratch using Ghost Enterprise, but error still shows on the same machines. It happens at the log on prompt and after doing a soft reset the message goes away, but it comes back eventually. -Error message- The Instruction at "0X74eF400e" referenced Memory at "0X00000000" The memory could not be "Written". Winlogon.exe - Application Error Any reason why this is happening? I have tried to run a memTest but everything shows okay.

• Keep IMAP messages locally when deleted remotely

  I use my email from my phone and my computer via IMAP. I want to set something up so that if I delete a message via my phone, my computer will still keep the message locally. For example, assume I leave my computer on, with a synchronize interval of 5 minutes. I want to be able to send something from my phone, wait 5 minutes to be sure my computer has downloaded the item from the Sent folder, then delete it from the IMAP sent folder via my phone, but have the computer at home keep it's copy. Is this possible with any readily available email clients out there? I have Thunderbird and Outlook at the moment, but would be willing to learn a new interface for this feature. How can I accomplish this?

• wmp12 refuses to convert files when syncing

  I have quite a large music collection of MP3s at 320kbps and some WMA files at various bitrates. I'm trying to sync some of them to my HTC Desire and am quickly running out of space. WMP12 has options to set, per device you wish to sync, to auto convert to a lower bitrate whilst syncing. I have set this to auto convert files to a maximum bitrate of 192kbps, that way I can fit more music on the device but keep the files on my PC at the higher rate. See these screens to see that it's set up correctly. Only problem is, surprise surprise for a Microsoft product, it doesn't actually work. Any file that is greater than 192kbps, MP3 or WMA simply fails, doesn't get converted or copied to the device. The message in the sync log displays the rather unhelpful message "error" and that's it. Any help would be appreciated. I'm not really looking for alternative software solutions I'd like to get this working since that's what it's supposed to do.

"Fatal error: Call to undefined function readline()" I recently found the below thread which pointed out the name of the package that contained the desired readline: How to solve configure: error: readline library not found? I went ahead and installed # apt-get install libreadline6. But this didnt seem to make a difference. I still get the same error message: "Fatal error: Call to undefined function readline()". • How to match responses from a server with their corresponding requests? [closed]

  There is a server that responds to requests on a socket. The client has functions to emit requests and functions to handle responses from the server. The problem is that the request sending function and the response handling function are two unrelated functions. Given a server response X, how can I know whether it's a response to request X or some other request Y? I would like to make a construct that would ensure that response X is definitely the answer to request X and also to make a function requestX() that returns response X and not some other response Y. This question is mostly about the general programming approach and not about any specific language construct. Preferably, though, the answer would involve Ruby, TCP sockets, and PHP. • "Permission denied (publickey)" error when ssh'ing to Amazon EC2 Debian AMI 05f3ef71

  I have launched a Debian system using AMI 05f3ef71 in Amazon EC2, but I have no lock connecting to it using SSH as suggested in "Connecting to Your Linux/UNIX Instances Using SSH". I tried several user names: ec2-user, root, debian... None of them worked. I always get a Permission denied (publickey) error message. Using ec2-get-console-output instance_id as suggested doesn't work either, it requires option "-K". If I supply it, I get the error message Required option '-C, --cert CERT' missing, but I have no idea what to supply there. Port 22 is opened on the affected instance. Does anyone have an idea what I could try to log in to my instance?

• Installed Windows 7 without formatting disk? Possible?

  I've just installed Win7 but I'm little confused. When booting from XP cd, there is an option to format hard drive. After choosing which partition to format, format process takes usually not less than hour (depends on size of partition), but when I clicked on Format when in Windows 7 installation interface, I received some message (I cant remember what was it, but it was not any error message or something like that) and that was it. After that I choose to install Windows 7 and installation began. "Expanding Windows Files" was the longest process of installation. Was that the part when the hard drive was formatted? I don't understand what happened? Is it possible that my hard drive was not formatted but still installation was successful?
