• Is there anything for Python that is like readability.js?

  Hi, I'm looking for a package / module / function etc. that is approximately the Python equivalent of Arc90's readability.js http://lab.arc90.com/experiments/readability http://lab.arc90.com/experiments/readability/js/readability.js so that I can give it some input.html and the result is cleaned up version of that html page's "main text". I want this so that I can use it on the server-side (unlike the JS version that runs only on browser side). Any ideas? PS: I have tried Rhino + env.js and that combination works but the performance is unacceptable it takes minutes to clean up most of the html content :( (still couldn't find why there is such a big performance difference).

• How to install python physics engine

  I want a python physics engine that works on mac and makes it easy to simulate physics. I have VPython and it works fine, but it is not quite what I want. VPython just shows visual elements and all the physics is in formulas. I looked at the documentation for PyODE and it looked like more what I want. It allowed you to add forces to masses and have worlds and things like that. When I tried to install PyODE (I am using a Mac), it didn't work. One reason was that I didn't have pyrex (I do have Cython, so maybe there is some way to have it use that?), but the other was that I didn't have ode installed. I looked and realized that PyODE is dependent on ode. I tried to install ode but that didn't work. Is there some documentation or binary or something that makes it easy to install PyODE on a mac? Or is there a similar module?

  Super nub question time! I am trying to use simplejson on the google appengine. In a terminal on my machine I have simplejson installed and working. But my when I try to import it in a script running on the appengine I get an error saying no such library exists. If open the interactive console on my machine (from the link on http://localhost:8080/_ah/admin) and type "import simplejson" I get: Traceback (most recent call last): File "/home/chris/google_appengine/google/appengine/ext/admin/init.py", line 210, in post exec(compiled_code, globals()) File "", line 1, in ImportError: No module named simplejson Any thoughts?

• Creating a System.Web.UI.Page programatically in IHTTPHandler

  I am trying to use the ASP.NET (3.5) "Routing Module" functionality to create custom pages based on the contents of the URL. Various articles, such as this one: http://blogs.msdn.com/mikeormond/archive/2008/05/14/using-asp-net-routing-independent-of-mvc.aspx explain how to use ASP.NET Routing to branch to existing pages on the web server. What I would like to do is create the page on-the-fly using code. My first attempt looks like this: public class SimpleRouteHandler : IRouteHandler { public IHttpHandler GetHttpHandler(RequestContext requestContext) { string pageName = requestContext.RouteData.GetRequiredString("PageName"); Page myPage = new Page(); myPage.Response.Write("hello " + pageName); return myPage; } } But this throws an HTTPException saying "Response is not available in this context." at the Response.Write statement. Any ideas on how to proceed? UPDATE: In the end, I went with an approach based on IHttpModule, which turned out to be rather easy.

• Intellij Idea 13.x and ASM 5.x library incompatible?

  I can't get Intellij Idea 13.0 to compile my code against ASM 5.0.3 I have a multi-module Maven project. It compiles and installs successfully. Apparently com.google.findbugs:findbugs has a dependency on asm:asm:3.3 and I want to use org.ow2.asm:asm:5.0.3 to manipulate some bytecode. So in the parent pom.xml I exclude the asm:asm:3.3 dependencies from the classpath. This works fine when I run mvn install from the command line. I can't get the Build - Make Project menu selection to work in Intellij Idea. • How do I create a reusable WF sequential workflow?

  I have two customers that have the same workflow (Create file -transport file - wait for response - send response to internal team); however the implementation of each step is different for each customer. For example, one customer requires a flat file to be sent via SFTP, while the other customer requires an XML file to be sent via FTP. I'd like to create a sequential workflow, using Microsoft Workflow Foundation (WF) and reuse this workflow for multiple vendors. Each action's call to an external module can use the same interface, but a different concrete implementation. However, I'm unfamiliar with WF and I'm not sure how to implement this. Can someone point me to the proper way to use this pattern? Will it make a difference whether I choose WF 3.5 or WF 4.0? Thank you.

I looked at the code of a helper Action , it does accept as a 4th parameter Params, but then I will have to set it somewhere in the layout - which is not good. Basically what are the recommendations of guru people that are pretty professional with zend Framework. Maybe I should do some work around or should change the concept of how I am injecting additional Controller(module) actions

  I am tying to merging web application(gwt, jpa) to an separate 2 application(business login in ejb/jpa and web client in gwt). Currently i can`t inject my beans from web application (simple servlet) I am using glassfish v3. module limbo(ejb jar) is in dependency of module lust (war). If I use lust with compiler output of limbo everything work perfect (if ejb in web application and the are deploying together as one application). Have I messed some container configuration ?   I'm trying to generate C code from a Matlab-Simulink simple model (eg.: sine wave generator with a DAC at the output). This code must be executed with Code Composer Studio for TMS320C6748 DSP (Texas Instrument C6748). Specifically, for the development board OMAP-L138 ZOOM ™EVM DEVELOPMENT KIT. For this, I am using the following versions: Simulink (Version 7.7 - R2011a) Embedded Coder (Version 6.0 - R2011a) Code Composer Studio v3.3 I tried several options (with generic modules in Simulink and programming the C6748 timers, configuring a module "Target Preferences" with "OMAP_L138/C6748 EVM"...) but it isn't working. Is it possible to implement this idea? Is there an example working? Thanks

In other words, in this example, can I make handle_error do return in check_size without actually writing return there?

• rpcbind authorization problems

  Hy, I am using rpcbind (SunRPC) on Arch linux and python rpc.py (wich use standard python socket module) interface for comunication with it, but every time I try to send request for registration or unregistration to rpcbind I get message that I am rejected for security reasons. Only situation when everything works is that when I call rpcbind in insecure mode (rpcbind -i) but I realy want to make everything works in secure mode.I found information from rpcbind datasheet that i can make request in secure mode only from loopback address, but I have tried every aproach i had knew to make such socket and everything fall down. Please help me. Thank you

  Hay, I have come to a point where i need to pass certain variables to all my views (mostly custom authentication type variables). I was told writing my own context processor was the best way to do this, but i am having some issues. My settings file looks like this TEMPLATE_CONTEXT_PROCESSORS = ( "django.contrib.auth.context_processors.auth", "django.core.context_processors.debug", "django.core.context_processors.i18n", "django.core.context_processors.media", "django.contrib.messages.context_processors.messages", "sandbox.context_processors.say_hello", ) As you can see i have a module called 'context_processors' and a function within that called 'say_hello'. This looks like def say_hello(request): return { 'say_hello':"Hello", } Am i right to assume i can now do this within my views {{ say_hello }} because it doesn't return anything.

• Connect ps/2->usb keyboard to linux?

  I have a lovely ancient ergonomic keyboard (no name SK - 6000) connected via a DIN-ps/2 adapter to a ps/2-usb adapter to my docking station. After Grub it stops working. It takes either suspending and waking up or replugging it while Linux is running to get it to work. No extra kernel modules get loaded for this. When it works and I restart without power off, it will work immediately. Even when it does not work, it is visible (lsusb device number varies but output is identical whether working or not): $ lsusb -v -s 001:006 Bus 001 Device 006: ID 0a81:0205 Chesen Electronics Corp.   Hello again, I was doing some reading and have even gotten a "master" SPI working on my microcontroller. Here is my question, basically if the master wants to initialize a write to the slave we write to the SSPBUF, how do we control what the slave responds with? The datasheet doesn't seem really clear to me the order of events in that case. I.E. Master puts a char into the SSPBUF, this initiates the SPI module to send data to the slave, during the shift, the slave returns a byte. In the slave side, is there something that tells you you have incoming data, and you can write to your SSPBUF first, THEN accept the data? OR Do you have to write to the SSPBUF the first "return value" you want sent back before the master can have an opportunity to initiate a transfer?

  I've been trying to figure out how to write this regular expression. It is to be used for ISAPI_Rewrite, a module for IIS 6, for doing URL rewriting. I want the url /hg/<parameter> to be mathed, so it can be rewrited to /hg/hgwebdir.cgi/<parameter>. I've matched it using ^/hg/(.*). My problem is, if the URL /hg/hgwebdir.cgi/<parameter> is used, the regex should NOT match. Using the above regex with this URL, will rewrite to /hg/hgwebdig.cgi/hgwebdig.cgi/<parameter> which is not correct. Can you help me create the matching pattern?

• How to add classes for styling to Drupal when using menu_block?

  I'm using the menu_block module in Drupal for my menus. This works very well, but I want my menu items styled as an image menu. This cannot be done nicely with the default settings - the menu items look something like this: <li class="leaf first menu-mlid-199"><a href="/this/is/some/nice/url" title="Homepage">Homepage</a></li> I'm guessing I could used the menu-mlid-199 class to get the styling I want, because it's a unique id of each menu item, but that seems rather ugly to me. Is there any other way to add reasonably named classes to my menu items, e.g. generate them from the page title or url alias? Even just a sequence would seem nicer - like menu-item-1 and so on.

  In the pickle module documentation there is a snippet of example code: reader = pickle.load(open('save.p', 'rb')) which upon first read looked like it would allocate a system file descriptor, read its contents and then "leak" the open descriptor for there isn't any handle accessible to call close() upon. This got me wondering if there was any hidden magic that takes care of this case. Diving into the source, I found in Modules/_fileio.c that file descriptors are closed by the fileio_dealloc() destructor which led to the real question. What is the duration of the file object returned by the example code above? After that statement executes does the object indeed become unreferenced and therefore will the fd be subject to a real close(2) call at some future garbage collection sweep? If so, is the example line good practice, or should one not count on the fd being released thus risking kernel per-process descriptor table exhaustion?

  I'm calling pipe.communicate from Python's subprocess module from Python 2.6.   My Python Interpreter (v2.6.5) raises the above error in the following codepart: fd = open("some_filename", "r") fd.seek(-2, os.SEEK_END) #same happens if you exchange the second arg. w/ 2 data=fd.read(2); last call is fd.seek() Traceback (most recent call last): File "bot.py", line 250, in <module> fd.seek(iterator, os.SEEK_END); IOError: [Errno 22] Invalid argument The strange thing with this is that the exception occurs just when executing my entire code, not if only the specific part with the file opening. At the runtime of this part of code, the opened file definitely exists, disk is not full, the variable "iterator" contains a correct value like in the first codeblock. What could be my mistake?
