• Guidance for Php for a beginner

  I've just started to learn PHP. I found the $_POST variable is not working and posted the same at the below link $_POST[] not working in php and as per the advise i installed XAMPP. But still the proble of $_POST variable is not solved. Now i've a doubt whether i need to configure any global variable to make $_POST work. I'm totally lost on this and dont know how to proceed. Any help on this is verryy much appreciated. Thanks.

  I'm using a stored procedure in a sql database as the data source for a SqlDataSourceControl on my .aspx page. I'm then using the SqlDataSourceControl as the data source for a gridview on my page. Paging is set to true on the gridview. What i would like to do is set the text of a label to the total number of rows in the gridview. I can use this code 'labelRowCount.Text = GridView2.Rows.Count & " layers found" to return the number of results per page, but it doesn't give me the total. I've looked in several places and haven't been successful in finding a solution.

• Physical storage of data in Access 2007

  I've been trying to estimate the size of an Access table with a certain number of records. It has 4 Longs (4 bytes each), and a Currency (8 bytes). In theory: 1 Record = 24 bytes, 500,000 = ~11.5MB However, the accdb file (even after compacting) increases by almost 30MB (~61 bytes per record). A few extra bytes for padding wouldn't be so bad, but 2.5X seems a bit excessive - even for Microsoft bloat. What's with the discrepancy? The four longs are compound keys, would that matter?

• Self Modifying Python? How can I redirect all print statements within a function without touching sys.stdout?

  I have a situation where I am attempting to port some big, complex python routines to a threaded environment. I want to be able to, on a per-call basis, redirect the output from the function's print statement somewhere else (a logging.Logger to be specific). I really don't want to modify the source for the code I am compiling, because I need to maintain backwards compatibility with other software that calls these modules (which is single threaded, and captures output by simply grabbing everything written to sys.stdout). I know the best option is to do some rewriting, but I really don't have a choice here. Edit - Alternatively, is there any way I can override the local definition of print to point to a different function? I could then define the local print = system print unless overwritten by a kwarg, and would only involve modify a few lines at the beginning of each routine.

  Hi guys, I am getting lot of traffic to my php pages but without the variable $_SERVER['HTTP_HOST'] setted. This traffic is like 1 hit per second. I don't know what it could be, but for reducing server load i am doing this at the top of every php pages: if (!isset($_SERVER['HTTP_HOST'])) exit; Do u know what could cause this? Is it safe to exit whenever http_host is not setted? Can a normal user visit my pages without setting http_host? PHP version: 5.2.0-8, Apache: 2.2.3 Thanks

• Can I play any Buffer only once at a given time?

  From the OpenAL documentation: The basic OpenAL objects are a Listener, a Source, and a Buffer. There can be a large number of Buffers, which contain audio data. Each buffer can be attached to one or more Sources My problem is, that I have one sound file which I need to play multiple times per second, at the same time. The sound is 2 seconds long. So it will overlap. Would I need multiple filled buffers for this (= multiple times that sound in memory)? If I would attach one Buffer to multiple Sources, would I be able to play the sound 10 times, overlapping itself, with just one copy in memory? Or would I still have to deal with 10 copies of that sound in memory?

• Guidance on using drop in DLLs

  I have been giving the task to rewrite a internal utility in .net for my work. One of program requirements the new system has is have a dll that implements a set of interfaces and have the program call the DLL. Now this dll will be changed out a lot per deployment. My question is what is the best way to do it from a development standpoint? Do I add a template DLL (one that only has the interfaces but no implementation) to the project references like I would do any other dll that I would use. • Problems with sys.stdout.write() with time.sleep() in a function

  What I wanted is printing out 5 dots that a dot printed per a second using time.sleep(), but the result was 5 dots were printed at once after 5 seconds delay. Tried both print and sys.stdout.write, same result.   I have an app which will go to our clients and then they can have their clients install it. Meaning there would be multiple versions of the master app but with customization per client. example 200 of our clients get the master app and then can customize it (text and images only via web) Will Apple allow something like this? Is there another way to get around this distribution model? I guess a good example of it would be a real estate agent having an app that's customized and on the app store but it's still Brand XYZ's app. thanks in advance

  sorry for my noob question, I'm currently writing a perl web application with sqlite database behind it. I would like to be able to show in my app query results which might get thousands of rows - these should be split in pages - routing should be like /webapp/N - where N is the page number. what is the correct way to query the sqlite db using DBI, in order to fetch only the relavent rows. for instance, if I show 25 rows per page so I want to query the db for 1-25 rows in the first page, 26-50 in the second page etc.... • Storing acceleration values in Objective-C/Cocoa?

  Hi all, I'm writing for the iPhone and I'm trying to measure the time between maximum accelerations. Imagine you've attached your iPhone to an oscillating spring. What I want to do is measure the frequency of the oscillation. The way I am going about doing this is storing a certain number acceleration values (updated 20 times per second) in an NSMutableArray and comparing the current acceleration value with previous acceleration values. How do I add each updated acceleration value to the NSMutableArray and at the same time delete values from the back of the array as I don't need them any more? Thanks in advance!

All that I can currently think of is that you get mixed revision numbers (so what?), and that you can't use svn:externals unless the repository is actually external. (i think?) The reason I ask is because I'm considering consolidating my multiple repos into one, since my SVN host has started charging per repo.

  I have a MySQL database with a fairly large table where the products are. Each of them has its own id and categoryId field where there is a category id belongs to this product. Now I have a query that pulls out products from given categories such as: SELECT * FROM products WHERE categoryId IN ( 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 34, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 ) Of course, come a WHERE clause and ORDER BY sort but not in this thing. Let's say that these products is 250k and the visits are over 100k per day. Under such conditions in the table slow_log registered weight of these queries with large generation time. Do you have any ideas how to optimize the given problem? Table engine is MyISAM.

• discrepancy in google analytics pageview totals when tracking subdomains

  We are using the old urchin.js and are tracking 2 subdomains under the same profile. We have a “track subdomains” advanced filter defined (as per http://www.google.com/support/googleanalytics/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=55524) as well as 2 segments for presenting data in the reports: hostname matches exactly subdomain1.domain-name.com and hostname matches exactly subdomain2.domain-name.com When I apply these segments to our Top Content Overview report, the All Visits total for PageViews does not correspond to the # of visits reported for each subdomain. For example: All Visits = 53 subdomain1 = 24 subdomain2 = 32 Is there any reason as to why we would be seeing this discrepancy in numbers?

I'm associating each slider (several per page) with an hidden form so far, but I wonder if there's a "cleaner" way to do this. Related to the 1st question; I've some trouble with the script: var score = $(this).slider( "option", "value" ); $(this).closest("input[type=='hidden']").val(score); It doesn't set the value of the hidden input. To complete the work fast we have created a macro that has been updated on all the machines. This macro corrects the font, size and formatting. How can I ensure and implement that nobody can change/replace or delete this macro from their system? In case this happens I should get an alert. In the Run as window that appears, select Android Application and click OK. But when I do the same , I do not see anything on my Mototola xoom Tablet. I have checke dthe following link for Setting up USB drivers.As per the link , I have confirmed that device is connected When plugged in over USB, you can verify that your device is connected by executing adb devices from your SDK platform-tools/ directory. If connected, you'll see the device name listed as a "device." • How to achieve jQuery scrolling/overlay effect (video in description)

  I have two columns. The left column contains text of dynamic lengths. The right column is of fixed height and will contain a set of images selected at random per page load. I am trying to create an effect where while the user scrolls, the Image 2 scrolls above Image 1. When it reaches the top, the Image 1 begins to scroll up until it disappears, then Image 3 comes in and repeats the process. As this is rather confusing, I made a short video describing the desired effect. Video - MP4 I have begun trying to get it working in this jsbin but am at a loss for when the user scrolls back down and also when more images are required. I am thinking my current path is not the right direction. I'm thinking that employing something like jQuery waypoints is more the direction I should be pursuing?

  Hello, I am trying to figure out the SQL for doing some relatively simple operations on sets of records in a table but I am stuck. Consider a table with multiple rows per item, all identified by a common key. For example: serial model color XX1 A blue XX2 A blue XX3 A green XX5 B red XX6 B blue XX1 B blue What I would for example want to do is: Assuming that all model A rows must have the same color, find the rows which dont. (for example, XX3 is green). Assuming that a given serial number can only point to a single type of model, find out the rows which that does not occur (for example XX1 points both to A and B) These are all simple logically things to do. To abstract it, I want to know how to group things by using a single key (or combination of keys) and then compare the values of those records. Should I use a join on the same table? should i use some sort of array or similar? thanks for your help

• Reboot windows machines at a certain time of day and automatically login with Python

  I know how to reboot machines remotely, so that's the easy part. However, the complexity of the issue is trying to setup the following. I'd like to control machines on a network for after-hours use such that when users logoff and go home, or shutdown their computers, whatever, python or some combination of python + windows could restart their machines (for cleanliness) and automatically login, running a process for the night, then in the morning, stop said process and restart the machine so the user could easily login like normal. I've looked around, haven't had too terribly much luck, though it looks like one could do it with a changing of the registry. That sounds like a rough idea though, modifying the registry on a per-day basis. Is there an easier way?

The problem is that i want to allow only queries that will update up to 4 rows. If affected rows count is 5 or more i want to raise error. There are the API specs, of course, but these make precious little sense to me if I don't find an example. • Display (tier) prices with qty increments and taxes

  I need to display (tier) prices based on the qty increments of a product. E.g. a simple product, with a regular price of 50¢, no taxes and qty increments of 20 should be displayed on product views with "$10 per 20". Without using taxes this should be quite easy. But there seems to be no "default" helper or model to do this with taxes enabled and different calulation algorithms (e.g. Mage_Tax_Model_Calculation::CALC_UNIT_BASE); expect for quotes in Mage_Tax_Model_Sales_Total_Quote_Tax and Mage_Tax_Model_Sales_Total_Quote_Subtotal. Did I miss something here, or do I have to write the business logic on my own? And how I would best encapsulate it?
