  • Listen to all Perforce commands made by my client machine to server

    - by Ed
Hi, Is it possible to somehow listen to all perforce cammands issued from my machine to the perforce server? I did some googling yesterday and found a page somewhere about a perforce proxy or broker that would intercept perforce commands and allow you to do what you wanted with them before sending them to the server...and now can't find the page! I am trying to debug our build process (built using Maven) that is failing while running the maven-release-plugin (prepare). Cheers.

  • Dynamically Rendering in a Scrollable Area

    - by James
What is the generic algorithm or process that is commonly used to dynamically render portions of a scrolling area? For example, in Google Maps, when the user scrolls past the bounds of the currently rendered area, a grey checkerboard pattern is displayed within the not-yet-rendered portions while the application loads and renders those areas. I'm looking specifically for the approach, or the mathematics, related to filling a graphics area in chunks based on what has just come into view. If possible, I'm looking for anything relevant to the GDI+ process of doing so.

  • regex breaks on \n

    - by Sourabh
hi segmentText = <input from textarea>; testRgx = [/( \d+\.| [^\W\d_]\.|.)+?([!?.?](?= |$)|$)/g]; arrSegments = segmentText.match(testRgx); This expression fails if segmentText has \n or other white spaces in it.I want to add \n in to the list of chars that the above pattern use [!?.?] = [!?.?\n] so that the segment is separated based on the \n character

  • Where to put common setUp-code for differen testclasses?

    - by Benedikt
I have several different test classes that require that certain objects are created before those tests can be run. Now I'm wondering if I should put the object initialization code into a separate helper class or superclass. Doing so would surely reduce the amount of duplicate code in my test classes but it would also make them less readable. Is there a guideline or pattern how to deal with common setUp-code for unit tests?

  • How Do I grep For non-ASCII Characters in UNIX

    - by Peter Conrey
I have several very large XML files and I'm trying to find the lines that contain non-ASCII characters. I've tried the following: grep -e "[\x{00FF}-\x{FFFF}]" file.xml But this returns every line in the file, regardless of whether the line contains a character in the range specified. Do I have the syntax wrong or am I doing something else wrong? I've also tried: egrep "[\x{00FF}-\x{FFFF}]" file.xml (with both single and double quotes surrounding the pattern).

  • Using static variables in Android

    - by michael
Hi, In android, are using static variables a recommended practice? E.g, implementing a Singleton pattern in Java, I usually do: private static A the_instance; public static A getInstance() { if (the_instance == null) { the_instance = new A(); } return the_instance; } Also, when does this get cleaned up by the Android JVM? Thank you.

  • How to implement IDisposable properly

    - by Vince
    Hi, I've seen so much C# code in my time as a developer that attempt to help the GC along by setting variables to null or calling Dispose() on classes (DataSet for example) within thier own classes Dispose() method that I've been wondering if there's any need to implement it in a managed environment. Is this code a waste of time in its design pattern? class MyClass : IDisposable { #region IDisposable Members public void Dispose() { otherVariable = null; if (dataSet != null) dataSet.Dispose(); } #endregion }

  • Linux C++: how to profile time wasted due to cache misses?

    - by anon
I know that I can use gprof to benchmark my code. However, I have this problem -- I have a smart pointer that has an extra level of indirection (think of it as a proxy object). As a result, I have this extra layer that effects pretty much all functions, and screws with caching. Is there a way to measure the time my CPU wastes due to cache misses? Thanks!

  • Is there a more modern regexp handler for Open Object Rexx

    - by Brent.Longborough
The regular expression class (rxregexp.dll) that comes with ooRexx (I'm on 4.0.0) is relatively low on function compared, say, with Python's re module (even at 2.5.2). It appears to have no assertions, no facilities for group extraction, or for substitution. Greedy or lazy matching is a global pattern option, rather than flagged by an additional "?". Basically, a pre-PCRE regular expression engine. Does anyone know if anything with more up-to-date function is available?

  • How Do I get City State Zip in MVC 3 URL Route without writing a controller for every state and actions for each city

    - by OpTech Marketing
I have the need to have the urls in my bosses application look like: http://domain.com/Texas/Dallas/72701 However, I don't want to write a controller for every state and an action for every city. routes.MapRoute( "DrillDown", // Route name "{controller}/{action}/{ZipId}", new { controller = "State", action = "City", ZipId = UrlParameter.Optional} // Parameter defaults Can someone help me write a pattern for the routes that will accept State/City/Zip without destroying the ability for me to have regular routes with controller/Action/Param ? Looking all over and can't find any direction.

  • Passing ViewModel for backbone.js from MVC3 Server-Side

    - by Roman
In ASP.NET MVC there is Model, View and Controller. MODEL represents entities which are stored in database and essentially is all the data used in a application (for example, generated by EntityFramework, "DB First" approach). Not all data from model you want to show in the view (for example, hashs of passwords). So you create VIEW MODEL, each for every strongly-typed-razor-view you have in application. Like this: using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Web; namespace MyProject.ViewModels.SomeController.SomeAction { public class ViewModel { public ViewModel() { Entities1 = new List<ViewEntity1>(); Entities2 = new List<ViewEntity2>(); } public List<ViewEntity1> Entities1 { get; set; } public List<ViewEntity2> Entities2 { get; set; } } public class ViewEntity1 { //some properties from original DB-entity you want to show } public class ViewEntity2 { } } When you create complex client-side interfaces (I do), you use some pattern for javascript on client, MVC or MVVM (I know only these). So, with MVC on client you have another model (Backbone.Model for example), which is third model in application. It is a bit much. Why don`t we use the same ViewModel model on a client (in backbone.js or another framework)? Is there a way to transfer CS-coded model to JS-coded? Like in MVVM pattern, with knockout.js, when you can do like this: in SomeAction.cshtml: <div style="display: none;" id="view_model">@Json.Encode(Model)</div> after that in Javascript-code var ViewModel = ko.mapping.fromJSON($("#view_model").get(0).innerHTML); now you can extend your ViewModel with some actions, event handlers, etc: ko.utils.extend(ViewModel, { some_function: function () { //some code } }); So, we are not building the same view model on the client again, we are transferring existing view model from server. At least, data. But knockout.js is not suitable for me, you can`t build complex UI with it, it is just data-binding. I need something more structural, like backbone.js. The only way to build ViewModel for backbone.js I can see now is re-writing same ViewModel in JS from server with hands. Is there any ways to transfer it from server? To reuse the same viewmodel on server view and client view?

  • Adding web reference is not generating the expected reference.cs file. Absent functions.

    - by user48408
I'm working with an old windows app in visual studio 2005. A webserviced referenced in the original app has 2 functions and when i peak inside the auto-generated reference.cs file I notice a couple of other functions to allow async calls have been geenrated i.e. BeginWhateverFunctionNameIsCalled and EndWhateverFunctionNameIsCalled. My problem is that I've created a new windows app and added the same web references but the Begin and End functions are not generated in my reference.cs proxy class. Anyone know whats going on?

  • problem with struts actions and redirections

    - by Casey
I am trying to update a simple web app that was built with struts2, jsp and standard servlets. I am trying to redirect a url to a specific action but can't seem to get it to work right. For example, the url that is correct is: http://localhost:8080/theapp/lookup/search.action Here is my web.xml: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?> <!DOCTYPE web-app PUBLIC "-//Sun Microsystems, Inc.//DTD Web Application 2.3//EN" "http://java.sun.com/dtd/web-app_2_3.dtd"><web-app> <display-name>theapp</display-name> <filter> <filter-name>struts2</filter-name> <filter-class> org.apache.struts2.dispatcher.FilterDispatcher </filter-class> </filter> <filter-mapping> <filter-name>struts2</filter-name> <url-pattern>/*</url-pattern> </filter-mapping> <listener> <listener-class> org.springframework.web.context.ContextLoaderListener </listener-class> </listener> And here is my struts.xml: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?> <!DOCTYPE struts PUBLIC "-//Apache Software Foundation//DTD Struts Configuration 2.0//EN" "http://struts.apache.org/dtds/struts-2.0.dtd"> <default-action-ref name="search" /> <action name="search" method="search" class="com.theapp.SearchAction" > <result>index.jsp</result> <result name="input" >index.jsp</result> <result name="error" type="redirect">site_locator_mobile/error.action</result> </action> The problem here is that if I don't specify the correct url as above, I just get the index.jsp file, but without any properties in index.jsp being processed because the information is contained in the servlet. What I would like to is if someone just entered: http://localhost:8080/theapp/lookup/ than they would be taken to: http://localhost:8080/theapp/lookup/search.action Thanks

  • Client for restful web service

    - by Ish
I'd like to create a http-centric client for a restful web service created using CXF. To that end: Does any one know the (maven) dependencies for ONLY the CXF clients (Proxy & HTTP)? Is there any advantage to using CXF's built-in clients over say, Apache HttpClient?

  • How to determine if object in another AppDomain has gone

    - by Dmitry Lobanov
I instantiate an object of some class in other ApDomain using CreateInstanceAndUnwrap(). I can determine if this object resides in other domain by using RemotingServices.IsTransparentProxy(). But can I determine if the real remote object has gone away (e.g. was garbage collected) without probing a call on proxy and catching RemotingException? Is it possible?

  • Can I reuse my existing TCP-Server?

    - by Helper Method
At the moment I have an existing application which basically consists of a desktop GUI and a TCP server. The client connects to the server, and the server notifies the client if something interesting happens. Now I'm supposed to replace the desktop GUI by a web GUI, and I'm wondering if I have to rewrite the server to send http packets instead of tcp packets or if I can somehow use some sort of proxy to grab the tcp packets and forward them to the web client? Do I need some sort of comet server?

  • Avoiding dependency carrying

    - by dotnetdev
When coding, I often come across the following pattern: -A method calls another method (Fine), but the method being called/callee takes parameters, so in the wrapping method, I pass in parameters. Problem is, this dependency carrying can go on and on. How could I avoid this (any sample code appreciated)? Thanks
