  Trying to install TFS on my computer in order to make a demonstration. I can't figure out what else can I do to solve these errors: Information [ System Checks ] TF255142: Windows Firewall is not enabled. If you enable Windows Firewall after configuring Team Foundation Server, you must add exceptions for ports used by Team Foundation Server to Windows Firewall.   Hi, I am new to the Web services scene. I currently have access to a RHEL5 box and i need to deploy a java web service on it. It runs apache and i know this because i have a website hosted on this machine. Now, i want to deploy a web service on to this website to be able to just pass a link to someone when they need to access my web service. Could someone point out a resource or explain what all i need to get the webservice deployed using Tomcat/Apache Axis and Java. I have done this on Windows (hosted on localhost) but couldn't quite figure out things on linux. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks. Deepak.

• Are there any negative impact running all services on a single static IP?

  I need to setup a VPN trunk (with remote branch office location), Video Conference and Web Server on-premise in the office. I am used to ISP providing blocks of 8 or 16 IPs. But I have a new ISP which says they only can provide a single IP. Are there any issues with running all services on a single IP? I don't think this has any thing to do with bandwidth..? I'm not using SSL certificates... I can do port forwarding to different machines... What else...? Disclaimer: I am a programmer by training. Sorry for noob question.

• At what point does Active Directory and Domain Services become necessary? [closed]

  I see time and time again such services running in a business environment with only 10 users. Everyone in the office authenticates with the DC and interacts with a shared drive where files and documents are stored. I can't help but think...reeeeealy? But I don't know, that's why I'm asking. To me it seems like you need to reach a certain threshold of size and needs before you throw a DC into the mix. ie: a 20+ user business (and growing) with permission requirements that separate the sales team from accounting. Thoughts?

• DFS-R + Volume Shadow Services - Run VSS at all locations or one?

  I have 4 servers, one at each office location, each sharing read/write copies of 1.5TB of data. Changes are replicated 24/7 between all 4 servers via DFS-R. All servers run Windows 2008 R2. I'm interested in implementing VSS (Volume Shadow Services) on this data. I've read that DFS-R and VSS play nicely together, but I'm left with one unanswered question: turn on VSS at all locations or just one (the headquarters). Can I run VSS at all 4 locations safely, or is it wiser to run it at just 1 location? Thanks!

• Cloud storage services offering one-time download links? [closed]

  Is anyone aware of consumer-targeted cloud storage services that allow users to generate a one-time download link for hosted files? Case in point: I have an encrypted container with some documents I need to send to a vendor. I would prefer to give them a one-time download link, so that I know when they have accessed the file, and then inform them of the passphrase by phone. I have heard that MediaFire offers 1-time links, but that they are buried in tons of advertising. At the moment, I'm not sure that I consider MediaFire fully legitimate; I'm more interested in solutions with Google Drive, Box.net, DropBox, etc.

• Best cloud based IT Systems management services out there?

  Our startup organisation is growing fast in 2 different office locations. That brings new challenges and headaches. Our entire company is cloud based, and I am looking for a good product to manage our remote systems. Currently we do not have on-site AD servers, we are using the Windows Azure AD services, so cannot rely on group policies at this stage. I would like to be able to achieve the following: (they are all laptops) Remote Desktop Support Patch management Lock down software on machines (restrict them) Monitor and manage systems Other benefits would be good, but if I can achieve the ones listed above, it will go a long way. We have a combination of Windows 7 pro & Windows 8 & 8.1 machines. I am currently using Windows Intune, but it is really limited. Really just a glorified patch enforcer.   I'm trying to use nscd (Nameservices Cache Daemon) to cache dns locally so I can stop using bind to do it. I've gotten it started and ntpd seems to attempt to use it. But everything else for hosts seems to ignore it. e.g if I do dig apache.org 3 times none of them will hit the cache. I'm viewing the cache stats using nscd -g to determine whether it's been used.   I post in multiple categories, so is it better to have: Consulting Services Implementation Service A Consulting Services Optimization Service A Consulting Services Upgrade Service A or, Consulting Services Implementation, Optimization, Upgrade Service A I was doing second way, the problem is google doesn't show 3rd set of crumbs. ie it only displays: Consulting Services on search result. But having multiple breadcrumbs on the page doesn't look good. any suugestions? Update For @PatomaS 's question I mean 3 lines of breadcrumbs, see above i have posted same article (Service A) in 3 categories (Implementation, Optimization, Upgrade). So you can reach same article through 3 categories. So whats the best breadcrumb to display on article 'Service A'?

  So i am totally new to VBS, never used it. I am trying to create multiple shares and i found a Microsoft VBS script that can do this(http://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/scriptcenter/6309d93b-fcc3-4586-b102-a71415244712) My question is, this script only allows for one domain group or user to be added for permissions where i am needing to add a couple with different permissions(got that figured out) Below is the script that i have modified for my needs but just need to add in the second group with the other permissions. If there is an easier way to do this please let me know.   I have a drive mounted at /media/ that contains a directory with a space in the name - let's call it "My Stuff". I would like to bind mount it to "My Stuff" in my home directory.   My question is very basic in nature. Is the mount point for external media (like USB) always /media? Because in a Debian system, if I plug in any USB device that goes to the /media folder. So is it the case with all the other Linux flavors like Fedora, Ubuntu, etc. If a USB device is automatically mounted will it always go to the /media directory?

• Transfer all 1&1 web and e-mail services to own Synology NAS using No-IP for DDNS

  I have a domain x-treem.net. The registrar is DomainDiscover and I have a hosting package with 1&1 which includes web and e-mail. I also have an additional package with 1&1 - Microsoft Exchange which centralises all my e-mails, tasks, contacts, notes, etc. and I connect to it with my PC (Outlook) and my Android phone. I have just purchased a Synology NAS (DS213) and I can see I can run a web server (Web Station), e-mail server (Mail Server) on it amongst other things. I am behind a dynamic IP. So, I'm looking to get some clarification on what I must do to consolidate my services and make use of my NAS to do as much as possible and save third-party hosting costs. My registrar specifies nameservers as NS45.1AND1.CO.UK and NS46.1AND1.CO.UK. The MX record is mx00.1and1.co.uk and mx01.1and1.co.uk. I'm aware of the concept of DDNS and I am looking at using No-IP.com for this. This is where I need clarification. If I registered with the No-IP paid service and pointed my registrar to No-IP's nameservers, and used the DDNS support on my NAS (which supports No-IP), then any requests to x-treem.net would go to my NAS. Is that correct? Therefore, web requests would hit the web server on my NAS, and e-mails would hit the mail server on my NAS? So, given all of the above, I can then drop 1&1 completely and use my NAS for everything. I use MySQL, phpMyAdmin, phpBB on 1&1 all of which the Synology NAS appears to support in its available packages. As for Microsoft Exchange, Synology offers Zafara which appears to be a drop-in replacement for Exchange. Am I on the right track here, or is there anything I am missing?
