    We have some applications that are being worked upon in .Net 2.0 since long back. I'm recommending my team to move the base from .net 2.0 to .net 3.5sp1 and focus and leverage from C# 3.0 but I'm facing difficulties in doing so. What are the implications of not migrating to .net 3.5 and C# 3.0 ? What are your experiences on this front and what tactics did you use to successfully migrate your team and projects to .net3.5.

  • Why is a .net generic dictionary so big

    I am serializing a generic dictionary in VB.net and I am very surprised that it is about 1.3kb with a single item. Am I doing something wrong, or is there something else I should be doing? I have a large number of dictionaries and it is killing me to send them all across the wire.     I am having an issue on OS X 10.7.5 as I used to use MAMP but for .htaccess issues I am now using my own compiled local server from a long time ago, the problem is i forgot the root password for mysql.     Let say I have the following folders: /A/C /D/B/E /D/B/C (this is a symlink to /A/C created by ln -s) When one of the makefiles tries to use the path /D/B/C/../E it gets a "no file or directory" error. I understand why this happens; /A/E does not exist. However I have to use symlinks to populate the B folder and create the build tree (very long story). Any ideas?

    I have a form with certain elements, input boxes, check boxes etc. I need to encrypt the names of these input boxes and check boxes. I'm currently using a Rijndael encryption/decryption method through c# however this is making the encrypted names too long to be passed in a post. Is there a better way to get decent encrypted names? my purpose is to have the names encrypted before the post happens so if someone views the code behind the names are already encrypted.

I want different controllers/actions to be invoked depending on the presence of a parameter after the '?'.   • Abort call to unmanaged DLL

    I have an unmanaged DLL with a function that can run for a long time if the input parameter is a large value, sometimes that is desirable but not always. How can I in c# call this function so that I can abort it when needed? So far I have tried to put the call in a separate thread, but neither interrupt nor abort seem to stop the process, which runs at 100% CPU until the dll is done. Is it possible to terminate the running dll code?
