Any ideas ??

  i have an asp.net mvc site and here is a dynamic tooltip using qTip Here is my code: $('a.showNutritionInfo').each(function() { $(this).qtip({ content: { text: '<img src="../../images/ajax-loader1.gif" alt="" />', style: { width: 450 }, url: '/Tracker/NutritionInfo/' + $(this).attr('id'), method: 'get' } }); }); this works perfectly EXCEPT the width attribute listed above is ignored. No matter what i put in that width attribute, i get the same size width tooltip which is about half of the width that i need. the height is perfectly fine. any ideas? is this a bug in the product ?

• Parantheses around method invokation: why is the compiler complaining about assignment?

  I know why the following code doesn't compile: public class Main { public static void main(String args[]) { main((null)); // this is fine! (main(null)); // this is NOT! } } What I'm wondering is why my compiler (javac 1.6.0_17, Windows version) is complaining "The left hand side of an assignment must be a variable". I'd expect something like "Don't put parantheses around a method invokation, dummy!", instead. So why is the compiler making a totally unhelpful complaint about something that is blatantly irrelevant? Is this the result of an ambiguity in the grammar? A bug in the compiler? If it's the former, could you design a language such that a compiler would never be so off-base about a syntax error like this?

• Column.DbType affecting runtime behavior

  Hi According to the MSDN docs, the DbType property/attribute of a Column type/element is only used for database creation. Yet, today, when trying to submit data to an IMAGE column on a SQLCE database (not sure if only on CE), I got an exception of 'Data truncated to 8000 bytes'. This was due to the DbType still being defined as VARBINARY(MAX) which SQLCE does not support. Changing the type to IMAGE in the DbType fixes the issue. So what other surprises does Linq2SQL attributes hold in store? Is this a bug or intended? Should I report it to MS? UPDATE After getting the answer from Guffa, I tested it, but it seems for NVARCHAR(10) adding a 11 char length string causes a SQL exception, and not Linq2SQL one. The data was truncated while converting from one data type to another. • Sending a 'copy' command in cocoa

  Is there any way to send a copy (command-c) instruction without using a cgEvent to mimic the keystrokes? I don't have access to the text field in the application I want to take text from, so need to replicate manually copying to the clipboard, and there seemss to be a bug with cgevent posting. According the Quartz documentation, to type a capital Z I should use: CGEventRef event1, event2, event3, event4; event1 = CGEventCreateKeyboardEvent (NULL, (CGKeyCode)56, true); event2 = CGEventCreateKeyboardEvent (NULL, (CGKeyCode)6, true); event3 = CGEventCreateKeyboardEvent (NULL, (CGKeyCode)6, false); event4 = CGEventCreateKeyboardEvent (NULL, (CGKeyCode)56, false); However, if I attach this set of instuctions to an NSTimer, it only works the first time it is fired. example output: ZzzZzzzzZZzzZ (vs expected ZZZZZZZZZ). How else might I send a copy command to the active window?

• asterisk public ip and clients with public / private ip

  I am using asterisk with a public ip. I have 4 clients which could be behind a nat or with public ip. I did set for all the clients nat=yes and canreinvite=no and qualify=yes. I did notice that if the clients were behind the nat everything went ok, but if the clients had public the call did not establish (no ringing on the asterisk server). WHere is the problem? Is there a bug in asterisk? As I've no there should be no problem for public ip and server with public ip.

• Why does Spring Security Core RC4 require Grails 2.3?

  On the Spring Security Core plugin GitHub repo, I see that Graeme on May 21st upped the required version of Grails from 2.0 to 2.3 before the RC4 version was released a couple of months later, but I don't see any explanation for why. Was it mismatched dependencies, bug reports, etc? I run a 2.2.4 app, and I would prefer not to upgrade at this point just to get the latest RC of spring security core. I understand if the upgrade to 3.2.0.RELEASE of spring security caused mismatched dependencies with older versions of Grails since I've run into the same issues before. This originally came up due to a pull request on the spring security OAuth2 provider plugin that I maintain. The pull request upped the required version to 2.3, and the requester pointed me to the RC4 release of core as the reason. Thanks for the good works as always!

• Anchors requiring multiple clicks to fire

  'This is bizarre bug. I have CSS3 anchors/buttons, which I've continued to strip properties out of, that sometimes require multiple clicks to fire. I've never seen anything like it. http://votizen.com Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't. So it's very tough to pin down. • Export Multiple Sheets to Excel Through Browser

  I need to export multiple data tables to Excel on the clients machine, each to their own sheet. If it was just one sheet, I'd use the Excel/csv content type, but I've heard something about an XML format that can represent an entire workbook. I don't want to go down the Packaging and .xlsx route, so I need standard .xls. Our bug tracker, Gemini, used to have an export function that produced an XML file that Excel automatically opened as a multi-sheet workbook, but I can't find it. Is there still such a mechanism, and where can I find that schema?

  Hey, I am planning to develop a pretty awesome new web app that has a one time fee including free updates of 1.X updates (X being the update). I don't want to get people to download a new version and install it manually as it can be a real pain for some people, also it's bad if there is an important bug that needs fixing and people don't update. • Value was either too large or too small for an Int16 error

  I am working on fixing a bug in VB that is giving this error. I am new to VB, so there is some syntax that I am not fully understanding. The code that is throwing the error says: .Row(itemIndex).Item("parentIndex") = CLng(oID) + 1000000 I understand that adding 1000000 is too much for an int16. I can't change that value (not right now anyway). What I don't understand, and can't seem to find, is what .Row is referring too. Any ideas?

• HTTP request stream not readable outside of request handler

  I'm writing a fairly complicated multi-node proxy, and at one point I need to handle an HTTP request, but read from that request outside of the "http.Server" callback (I need to read from the request data and line it up with a different response at a different time). The problem is, the stream is no longer readable. Below is some simple code to reproduce the issue.   I'm using GNU Make 3.81, and I have the following rule in my Makefile: jslint : java org.mozilla.javascript.tools.shell.Main jslint.js mango.js \ | sed 's/Lint at line \([0-9]\+\) character \([0-9]\+\)/mango.js:\1:\2/' This works fine if I enter it directly on the command line, but the regular expression does not match if I run it with "make jslint". However, it works if I replace \+ with \{1,\} in the Makefile: jslint : java org.mozilla.javascript.tools.shell.Main jslint.js mango.js \ | sed 's/Lint at line \([0-9]\{1,\}\) character \([0-9]\{1,\}\)/mango.js:\1:\2/' Is there some special meaning to \+ in Makefiles, or is this a bug?

• TFS Automated Builds to Code Packages

  I would like to hear the best practices or know how people perform the following task in TFS 2008. I am intending on using TFS for building and storing web applications projects. Sometimes these projects can contain 100's of files (*.cs, *.acsx etc) During the lifetime of the website, a small bug will get raised resulting in say a stylesheet change, and a change to default.aspx.cs for example. On checking in these changes to TFS, and automated build would be triggered (great!), however for deploying the changes to the target production machine, I only need to deploy for example: style.css default.asx MyWebApplications.dll So my question is, can MSBuild be customized to generate a "code pack" of only the files which require deploying to the production server based on the changeset which cause the re-build?

• HTML, PHP No data in drop down box

  Hey, I am trying to figure out why a website's drop down box will not show any options. The data file for this drop down box comes from a microsoft access .mde file. The file is present and after the last update was working fine. Some changes happened to the site, i.e. text got added along with some photos. Im not saying this was when the drop down box went bad, but when it was discovered these were the only changes made. The data file seems fine as it is worked with everyday. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to where to begin looking for the bug? • Doctrine SQL Server uniqueidentifier isn't cast as char or nvarchar when retrieved from the database

  When I retrieve a record from the database which has a column of type "uniqueidentifier", Doctrine fills it with "null" rather than the unique id from the database. Some research and testing has brought this down to a PDO/dblib driver issue. When directly querying via PDO, null is returned in place of the unique id. For reference, http://trac.doctrine-project.org/ticket/1096, has a bit on this, however, it was updated 11 months ago with no comment for resolution. A way around this, as mentioned at http://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=24752&edit=1, is to cast the column as a char. However, it doesn't seem Doctrine exposes the native field type outside of generating models which makes it a bit hard to detect uniqueidentifier types and cast them internally when building the sql query. Has anyone found a workaround for this?

  I've been playing with three.js for few weeks now and got few inconsistencies on ray casting. Here is a simplified version demonstrating one of the bug I encoutered : http://jsfiddle.net/eMrhb/12/ The camera is added to the sphere mesh for further use of TrackBallControl for example. scene.add(mesh); mesh.add(camera); Clicking a few times on the sphere and opening the console, show us none of the expected intersections between the ray and the mesh. Adding the camera to the scene (http://jsfiddle.net/eMrhb/9/), solves the problem: scene.add(mesh); scene.add(camera); But I could use a much more complex hierarchy between my scene objects and the camera to suit my needs. Is this a limitation? If it is, is there any workarounds I could use?

• C#.NET : A graphical control makes my app freeze after workstation unlock

  Hi, I have a graphical control that is multithreaded. Until now it worked fine, but I just noticed that whenever I'm on my application showing this control the following happens: if I lock and unlock my workstation, it freezes, like if it were in some kind of infinite loop. Even stranger, this bug occurs only when I'm not lauching the app from Visual Studio, and not attached to it. Does anyone have a clue on what's happening? For instance, if I attach Visual Studio to the already freezed app, can I see which lines of code my threads are executing ? Any help will be appreciated!

• Select calls seems to not time out.

  HI Folks, I have a threaded C++ program where up to three threads are calling select on a three separate socket descriptors waiting for data to become available. Each thread handles one socket and adds it to the readfds with a timeout of 300 seconds. After select returns if there is data available I'm calling recv to read it. Is there anything that I need to be aware of with winsock and threads because for some reason after a number of hours the select calls all seem to be not timing out. Can a multi threaded program select from a number of threads without issue? I know that I should have one thread listening to all three sockets however that would be a large change for this app and I'm only looking to apply a bug fix. cheers, Martin.

  I played with HttpRequest and realized that the memory is not cleaned up after any request. After some time the running tab within Chrome will crash. Here is some testing code. • On Solaris, what is the difference between cut and gcut?

  I recently came across this crazy script bug on one of my Solaris machines. I found that cut on Solaris skips lines from the files that it processes (or at least very large ones - 800 MB in my case). > cut -f 1 test.tsv | wc -l 457030 > gcut -f 1 test.tsv | wc -l 840571 > cut -f 1 test.tsv > temp_cut_1.txt > gcut -f 1 test.tsv > temp_gcut_1.txt > diff temp_cut_1.txt temp_gcut_1.txt | grep '[<]' | wc -l 0 My question is what the hell is going on with Solaris cut? My solution is updating my scripts to use gcut but... what the hell?
