  • What's the case when using software licensed under GPL or LGPL

    With everything legal and in line with the ethical questions in software development, is it allowed to use an open source product in my software that I charge a fee for when selling? Scenario: I've developed an PHP Content Management System (CMS) and use some Linux executables licensed under GPL or LGPL in my CMS to accomplish various tasks like image editing. I'm selling the CMS and also including the executables when I deliver the product. I do not edit the source code of the GPL software, just using it.

    Hi. i have a little problem, and I am not sure if it's a compiler bug, or stupidity on my side. I have this struct : struct BulletFXData { int time_next_fx_counter; int next_fx_steps; Particle particles[2];//this is the interesting one ParticleManager::ParticleId particle_id[2]; }; The member "Particle particles[2]" has a self-made kind of smart-ptr in it (resource-counted texture-class). this smart-pointer has a default constructor, that initializes to the ptr to 0 (but that is not important) I also have another struct, containing the BulletFXData struct : struct BulletFX { BulletFXData data; BulletFXRenderFunPtr render_fun_ptr; BulletFXUpdateFunPtr update_fun_ptr; BulletFXExplosionFunPtr explode_fun_ptr; BulletFXLifetimeOverFunPtr lifetime_over_fun_ptr; BulletFX( BulletFXData data, BulletFXRenderFunPtr render_fun_ptr, BulletFXUpdateFunPtr update_fun_ptr, BulletFXExplosionFunPtr explode_fun_ptr, BulletFXLifetimeOverFunPtr lifetime_over_fun_ptr) :data(data), render_fun_ptr(render_fun_ptr), update_fun_ptr(update_fun_ptr), explode_fun_ptr(explode_fun_ptr), lifetime_over_fun_ptr(lifetime_over_fun_ptr) { } /* //USER DEFINED copy-ctor. if it's defined things go crazy BulletFX(const BulletFX& rhs) :data(data),//this line of code seems to do a plain memory-copy without calling the right ctors render_fun_ptr(render_fun_ptr), update_fun_ptr(update_fun_ptr), explode_fun_ptr(explode_fun_ptr), lifetime_over_fun_ptr(lifetime_over_fun_ptr) { } */ }; If i use the user-defined copy-ctor my smart-pointer class goes crazy, and it seems that calling the CopyCtor / assignment operator aren't called as they should. So - does this all make sense ? it seems as if my own copy-ctor of struct BulletFX should do exactly what the compiler-generated would, but it seems to forget to call the right constructors down the chain. compiler bug ? me being stupid ? Sorry about the big code, some small example could have illustrated too. but often you guys ask for the real code, so well - here it is :D EDIT : more info : typedef ParticleId unsigned int; Particle has no user defined copyctor, but has a member of type : Particle { .... Resource<Texture> tex_res; ... } Resource is a smart-pointer class, and has all ctor's defined (also asignment operator) and it seems that Resource is copied bitwise. EDIT : henrik solved it... data(data) is stupid of course ! it should of course be rhs.data !!! sorry for huge amount of code, with a very little bug in it !!! (Guess you shouldn't code at 1 in the morning :D )

    I have actually one app with a SQLite DB and i port this at the moment to the ipad. My idea is a sync between iPad and iPhone for one table... But the Problem is "Person A" edit/change, create or delete a data record on iphone and "Person B" make the same or delete the edited record from Person A on the same time. Has anybody a idea for this? Or a nice lib for this?

  • Remove robot as an editor of a blip

    I have a Google Wave robot which makes changes to some blip content depending on what a user inputs. When this edit is made, the robot is listed in the blip as one of the people who have edited it (so shows its Avatar and robot name). I was wondering if anyone knew if it was possible (and if so how), to stop the robot being listed as an editor (either by it not happening in the first place, or removing it afterwards).

  • How can I get "Copy to Output Directory" to work with Unit Tests?

    When I build a unit test project before the tests are executed the test output is copied to a TestResults folder and then the tests are executed. The issue I'm having is that not all the files in the Debug/bin directory are copied to the TestResults project. How can I get a file that is copied to the Debug/bin directory to also be copied to the TestResults folder?   • IE7 not Caching CSS Image over SSL

    Hello, I'm using the WebDevHelper toolbar for Internet Explorer to troubleshoot HTTP requests/roundtrips on my SSL site and noticed that IE re-downloads my CSS :hover images every time they are triggered. This causes a huge amount of roundtrips. How can I prevent this from happening? Edit: All static content is served with cache-control: public, so images, javascript etc. are cached in Firefox and Chrome. This problem is IE specific.

  • Eclipse: view a document using custom spacing, save using the file's spacing

    I have a silly use case for eclipse: At work, they use 2 spaces for a tab character. Indentation looks really squashed and I'm finding it obstructs readability. Now, I can't set Eclipse to use 4 spaces for a tab as it'll edit any files I change, and obviously don't want to violate the coding standards. So, can I have a custom view onto my document, with saving maintaining the original spacing? Cheers

I went to Tasks Import Data, and imported some data from a flat text file, opting to save the package on the server. Now how the heck do I get to the package to edit or run it again?     I'm making a custom UI element class for iPhone. It'll cool to edit my class on Interface Builder with hierarchy. Some of my class is management class like UINavigationController, but they're not one of them, subclasses from NSObject. Of course, I can place a NSObject instance on IB, but it cannot have a child node. Is there a way to enable adding child node to subclass of NSObject?

  • Trying to filter a ListView with runQueryOnBackgroundThread but nothing happens - what am I missing?

    I have a list of countries in a database. I have created a select country activity that consists of a edit box for filtering and a list which displays the flag and country name. When the activity starts the list shows the entire list of countries sorted alphabetically - works fine. When the customer starts typing into the search box I want the list to be filtered based on their typing. My database query was previously working in an AutoCompleteView (I just want to switch to a separate text box and list) so I know my full query and my constraint query are working. What I did was add a TextWatcher to the EditText view and every time the text is changed I invoke the list's SimpleCursorAdapter runQueryOnBackgroundThread with the edit boxes text as the constraint. The trouble is the list is never updated. I have set breakpoints in the debugger and the TextWatcher does make the call to runQueryOnBackgroundThread and my FilterQueryProvider is called with the expected constraint. The database query goes fine and the cursor is returned.     What is the best procedure for storing and retrieving, using native Java serialization, generic objects like ArrayList<String>? Edit: To clarify. When I serialize an object of type ArrayList<String> I'd like to de-serialize to the same type of object. However, I know of no way to cast back to this generic object without causing warnings.
