• exchange server 2010 with multiple domains

  i have one exchange server 2010, which is working fine with one domain. my exchange is working as follows pop3 collector collect emails from one master catchall account and then deliver to exchange server, this working perfect. now what i want to add another domain to same exchange, i have added new domain as trusted domain & email policy and this new domain email account works fine with internal emails. now what i have done, i again forward new email account to same catchall account. but if i send email from any other external email address email is bounce, i can see email receive by pop3 collector but bounce by exchange server. to make you more clear let me explain logic on which i am working. i have 2 domains 1. domain1.com ([email protected]) 2. domain2.com ([email protected] -->[email protected]) now on my machine with exchange server i have pop3 collector which collect all emails from [email protected] and forward to exchange 2010 server. all emails to domain1.com is working perfect but when i send email to [email protected] this email redirect to [email protected] perfectly but when exchanger server receive this email, it bounce. i have also study the url link text and follow the whole process but no success. i also check that my DNS/MX is working fine as the bounce message is going from my exchange server. EDIT the only problem is with accepted domain, as email come to exchange server then bounce back. i just try this today i create one user called test, then i goto his properties -- email there was only one email account [email protected] i try to send email to [email protected] from internet (email bounce) then again i go to test user properties -- email and Add one email [email protected] again u try to send email to t*[email protected]* from internet (email received) i think the only problem is with accepted domain but in hub transport , it shows accepted is there any way to check does domain is properly accepted or not in exchange 2010 server.   I am using a corporate mail account which is synchronized via IMAP to both my desktop client and my iPhone, which is exactly the way I like it. However, the account has a limited quota. With POP3 access, this was not a problem, as POP3 clients could be configured to remove messages from server after specified time. This option is missing from my Apple Mail IMAP account configuration pane. Is there a way to replicate this feature with an IMAP account, either on the client, or on the server side? If not, I will probably have to move old messages manually to some local folder on my Mac. Is there a method to retain a single-click searchability of both archived and current mail folders together?

• In Windows 7 is there a way to login from any user account and see the same workspace and be able to use the running programs of another user?

  Our group has a number of Test Stands with PCs that are currently being accessed with a single group login. It has been sent from on high that this is not the way to do things for security reasons and we all agree. However. Multiple team members from around the world log into these Test Stands and need to be able to access programs that have been run from what would be different user profiles if we were to no longer have a single common login. Is there a way to have a common workspace such that when different users login, they will be able to see and interact with all running applications as if they were using a common login? Applications that we run link to and monopolize hardware resources connected to the PC and it is time consuming to restart and reload settings every time a new user logs in. Even if the program did not monopolize the hardware many of these programs are resource intensive and require a large portion of each machine's RAM to run, so trying to run the application again when it is already running from multiple user accounts would quickly consume all system resources. Simple Example: I open a chrome browser while logged into our pc. I then logout and another team member remotes in and should be able to see my open browser and be able to interact with it as if he were the one who opened it. Any alternative process flows or solutions from someone who has gone through a similar transition would be appreciated. This is not a request for how to give all users access to the ability to run a program, but it is the request for how to allow all users access to interact with running applications that have been started by other users and need to be interacted with as if the new user started and has control of the application.

• Unable to access my gmail after moving to another country

  I am completely fed up with google's useless security policy for emails. I hope there is any method to solve this. What is happenibg is that I used to use my gmail account from Turkey and recently I had to move to Sweden. When trying to gain access to the same account from there, google tells me that 'something has changed'since my last access and it is asking that I verify myself using methods that I forgot them all because I created that account two years ago when I had a different phone number and email and when I did not care much to answer the'secret' question. I also tried google's incompetent recovery survey that judged that I did not provide sufficient information for them to give me access again. Is there any way to solve this,please help. I desperately need to access that account. Thanks

• ssh login with multi-keys (several users) from the same workstation

  Basically, as it comes from the title, I'd like to login from my workstation to a SSH server by using different account in different shells. What I'd like to do is to backup all my account from this server to my hard drive by using rsync, but as you know rsync can get a connection if the keys have been generated. I have already an account set with key for login without pass. What I did was to generate a key on the server and then download it on my ~/.ssh folder. I tried it with another account and I chanced the name of the key. Then I download it in my ~/.ssh...but no way to get it work. I am not an expert of this stuff. If you would provide any tips or way to set it up I would really appreciate your help. Cheers

• protobuf-net: Issues deserializing DataMember fields in lieu of read-only property

  I'm having issues deserializing certain properties of ORM-generated entities using protobuf-net. I suspect something in the way the ORM manages serialization attributes on read-only properties (uses public backing fields with DataMember attributes & [de]serializes) those instead of the corresponding read-only property, which has an IgnoreDataMember attribute). Guid properties might have issues of their own, but the field vs. property thing is my working theory now. Here's a simplified example of the code. Say I have a class, Account with an AccountID read-only guid, and an AccountName read-write string. I serialize & immediately deserialize a clone. In this scenario I get one of two results (depending on the entity, haven't isolated the specific commonality yet). The deserialized clone either: ...has a different AccountID from the original, or ...throws an Incorrect wire-type deserializing Guid exception while deserializing. Here's example usage... Account acct = new Account() { AccountName = "Bob's Checking" }; Debug.WriteLine(acct.AccountID.ToString()); using (MemoryStream ms = new MemoryStream()) { ProtoBuf.Serializer.Serialize<Account>(ms, acct); Debug.WriteLine(Encoding.UTF8.GetString(ms.GetBuffer())); ms.Position = 0; Account clone = ProtoBuf.Serializer.Deserialize<Account>(ms); Debug.WriteLine(clone.AccountID.ToString()); } And here's an example ORM'd class (simplified; hopefully haven't removed the cause of the issue in the process). I've tried protobuf-net with lists vs. single instances, different prefix styles, etc., but always either get the 'incorrect wire type ... Guid' exception, or the Guid property (field) not deserializing correctly. So the specific questions are, is there a quick workaround for this, and/or is there an explanation for both of outcomes 1 & 2 above, and/or can protobuf-net somehow be corralled into behaving like WCF in cases like this (i.e. follow the same DataMember/IgnoreDataMember semantics)? We hope not to have to create a protobuf dependency directly in the entity layer; if that's the case, we'll probably create proxy DTO entities with all public properties having protobuf attributes. (This is a subjective issue I have with all declarative serialization models; it's a ubiquitous pattern, but IMO, "normal" should be to have objects and serialization contracts decoupled.) Thanks!

• Log a user in to an ASP.net application using Windows Authentication without using Windows Authentic

  I have an ASP.net application I'm developing authentication for. I am using an existing cookie-based log on system to log users in to the system. The application runs as an anonymous account and then checks the cookie when the user wants to do something restricted. This is working fine. However, there is one caveat: I've been told that for each page that connects to our SQL server, I need to make it so that the user connects using an Active Directory account. because the system I'm using is cookie based, the user isn't logged in to Active Directory. Therefore, I use impersonation to connect to the server as a specific account. However, the powers that be here don't like impersonation; they say that it clutters up the code. I agree, but I've found no way around this. It seems that the only way that a user can be logged in to an ASP.net application is by either connecting with Internet Explorer from a machine where the user is logged in with their Active Directory account or by typing an Active Directory username and password. Neither of these two are workable in my application. I think it would be nice if I could make it so that when a user logs in and receives the cookie (which actually comes from a separate log on application, by the way), there could be some code run which tells the application to perform all network operations as the user's Active Directory account, just as if they had typed an Active Directory username and password. It seems like this ought to be possible somehow, but the solution evades me. How can I make this work? Update To those who have responded so far, I apologize for the confusion I have caused. The responses I've received indicate that you've misunderstood the question, so please allow me to clarify. I have no control over the requirement that users must perform network operations (such as SQL queries) using Active Directory accounts. I've been told several times (online and in meat-space) that this is an unusual requirement and possibly bad practice. I also have no control over the requirement that users must log in using the existing cookie-based log on application. I understand that in an ideal MS ecosystem, I would simply dis-allow anonymous access in my IIS settings and users would log in using Windows Authentication. This is not the case. The current system is that as far as IIS is concerned, the user logs in anonymously (even though they supply credentials which result in the issuance of a cookie) and we must programmatically check the cookie to see if the user has access to any restricted resources. In times past, we have simply used a single SQL account to perform all queries. My direct supervisor (who has many years of experience with this sort of thing) wants to change this. He says that if each user has his own AD account to perform SQL queries, it gives us more of a trail to follow if someone tries to do something wrong. The closest thing I've managed to come up with is using WIF to give the user a claim to a specific Active Directory account, but I still have to use impersonation because even still, the ASP.net process presents anonymous credentials to the SQL server. It boils down to this: Can I log users in with Active Directory accounts in my ASP.net application without having the users manually enter their AD credentials? (Windows Authentication)

• Installing UCMA 3.0 and Creating a Communications Server "14"Trusted Application Pool

  A lot of setup and administration tasks have gotten a lot easier in Communications Server 14; one of them is building an application server to develop and run your UCMA 3.0 applications on. In this post, Ill walk you through installing the UCMA 3.0 Core SDK and creating a Trusted Application Pool on the server, thus adding it to the Communications Server 14 topology and allowing you to host and run UCMA 3.0 applications on it. Note: These instructions will change slightly as the bits get updated for the eventual Beta release I will update this post as soon as I get a chance to run this setup on a more recent build. Im doing the install on a simple Communications Server 14 topology consisting of the following Windows Server 2008 R2 Hyper-V images: DC Domain Controller ExchangeUM Exchange Server 2010 CS-SE Microsoft Communications Server 2010 Standard Edition TS Development machine Ill walk through setting up UCMA 3.0 on the TS VM, which is a fully patched Windows Server 2008 R2 machine that is joined to the Fabrikam domain.   Im also running Visual Studio 2010 on this VM because I intend to use it as a development machine.  In a future post, Ill walk through installing just the UCMA 3.0 run time to build a true production UCMA application server. Im making a couple of assumptions here: You have an existing CS 2010 site and cluster configured(well look at this in a future post) Youre starting with a fully patched Windows Server 2008 R2 machine The machine is joined to your domain This walkthrough was done in my Fabrikam VM environment but can easily be modified for your own environment. Installing the UCMA 3.0 SDK Lets start by installing the UCMA 3.0 SDK.  Run UcmaSdkWebDownload.msi to kick off the SDK installer package extract process. The installed package is extracted to C: >> Program Files >> Microsoft UCMA 3.0 >> SDK Installer Package.  Browse there and run setup.exe. Click Install to install the UCMA 3.0 Core SDK and Workflow SDK. Install Communications Server Core Components UCMA 3.0 introduces a new concept called Auto-provisioning, which is most easily explained from the developer point of view.  Remember what your app.config looked it in UCMA 2.0?  You had to store the application GRUU, the trusted contact SIP Uri, the port for your application, and the name of the certificate authority. Thats all gone with auto-provisioning all you need in your app.config is your ApplicationId, e.g.: urn:application:MyApplication. How does CS 2010 do this? All of the applications configuration data is associated with the applications id.  UCMA also queries a replicated copy of the Central Management Database to retrieve the applications configuration data and also the configuration data for any endpoints. In this step, well run Bootstrapper.exe to install the CS Core components, this checked for the following components and installs them if they are not already present: VcRedist Sqlexpress Sqlnativeclient Sqlbackcompat Ucmaredist OcsCore.msi Open a command window at C: >> Program Files >> Microsoft Communications Server 2010 >> Deployment and run the following command: Bootstrapper.exe /BootstrapReplica /MinCache /SourceDirectory:"%ProgramFiles%\Microsoft UCMA 3.0\SDK Installer Package\Prereq\BootstrapperCache" Create a New Trusted Application Pool The next step is to create a new trusted application pool for the new server.  Fire up the Communications Server Management Shell from Start >> Microsoft Communications Server 2010 >> Communications Server Management Shell and enter the following PowerShell command: New-CsTrustedApplicationPool -Identity <FQDN of Server> -Registrar <FQDN of CS Server> -Site <CS Site Name> Verify that the new server was added to the CS topology by running the following PowerShell command: (Get-CsTopology -AsXml).ToString() > Topology.xml This created a file called Topology.xml in the directory that you ran the command from.  Open the file and find the Clusters section and look for a node for the new server. The Cluster Fqdn is the name of your server, and note the name of the Site that this Cluster is a part of. <Cluster Fqdn="appsrv.fabrikam.com" RequiresReplication="true" RequiresSetup="true"> <ClusterId SiteId="UcMarketing2" Number="5" /> <Machine OrdinalInCluster="1" Fqdn="appsrv.fabrikam.com"> <NetInterface InterfaceSide="Primary" InterfaceNumber="1" IPAddress="0.0.0.0" /> </Machine> </Cluster> Configure CS Management Store Replication At this point, we have the CS Core components installed and the server configured as a trusted application pool.  We now need to set up replication so that the Central Management Store replicates down to the new server. From the Communications Server Management Shell, run the following PowerShell command to enable the Replica service on the new server: Enable-CSReplica The Replica service is enabled, but hasn't done anything yet. This can be verified by running the following PowerShell command to check the replication status for the various servers in the topology: Get-CSManagementStoreReplicationStatus You can see in the screenshot below that the UpToDate property of the new server is still False Run the following PowerShell command to force the replication to run: Invoke-CSManagementStoreReplicationStatus Run Get-CSManagementStoreReplicationStatus again to verify that the new service is now up to date Request and Set a New Certificate The last step in the process is to request a new certificate from the certificate authority on the domain and assign it to the new server. From the Communications Server Management Shell, run the following PowerShell command to request a new certificate: Request-CSCertificate -Action new -Type default -CA <Domain Controller FQDN>\<Certificate Authority> Setting the -Verbose switch on the cmdlet creates an Xml file with its output. • Examining ASP.NET's Membership, Roles, and Profile - Part 18

  Membership, in a nutshell, is a framework build into the .NET Framework that supports creating, authenticating, deleting, and modifying user account information. Each user account has a set of core properties: username, password, email, a security question and answer, whether or not the account has been approved, whether or not the user is locked out of the system, and so on. These user-specific properties are certainly helpful, but they're hardly exhaustive - it's not uncommon for an application to need to track additional user-specific properties. For example, an online messageboard site might want to also also associate a signature, homepage URL, and IM address with each user account. There are two ways to associate additional information with user accounts when using the Membership model. The first - which affords the greatest flexibility, but requires the most upfront effort - is to create a custom data store for this information. If you are using the SqlMembershipProvider, this would mean creating an additional database table that had as a primary key the UserId value from the aspnet_Users table and columns for each of the additional user properties. The second option is to use the Profile system, which allows additional user-specific properties to be defined in a configuration file. (See Part 6 for an in-depth look at the Profile system.) This article explores how to store additional user information in a separate database table. We'll see how to allow a signed in user to update these additional user-specific properties and how to create a page to display information about a selected user. • San Joaquin County, California Wins AIIM 2012 Carl E. Nelson Best Practice Award

  Last month, AIIM, the global community of information professionals, announced the winners of the 2012 Carl E. Nelson Best Practices Awards. And San Joaquin County, California won in the small company category for 1-100 employees. The Carl E. Nelson Best Practices Award was established to recognize excellence in the area of information management. "Best practice" denotes a standard of excellence that has been achieved with an organization and refers to a process that can be quantified, adapted and repeated. Like many counties, San Joaquin County, California, was faced with huge challenges due to decreasing funds and staff, including decreased cost of building capability. It needed to streamline processes, cut costs per activity, modernize and strengthen the infrastructure, and adopt new technology and standards such as the National Information Exchange Model (NIEM). The Integrated Justice Information System (IJIS) provides a Web-based system to link more than 650,000 residents, 18 agencies countywide and other law enforcement systems nationwide. The county’s modernization initiative focused on replacing its outdated warrant system, implementing service-oriented architecture (SOA) to simplify integration between county law and justice systems, deploying Business Process Management (BPM), Case Management with content management, and Web technologies from Oracle. A critical part of their success has been the proper alignment of our Strategic Vision to the way the organization was enabled to plan and execute (and continues to execute) their modernization project. • Data Quality Through Data Governance

  Data Quality Governance Data quality is very important to every organization, bad data cost an organization time, money, and resources that could be prevented if the proper governance was put in to place.  Data Governance Program Criteria: Support from Executive Management and all Business Units Data Stewardship Program  Cross Functional Team of Data Stewards Data Governance Committee Quality Structured Data It should go without saying but any successful project in today’s business world must get buy in from executive management and all stakeholders involved with the project. If management does not fully support a project because they see it is in there and the company’s best interest then they will remove/eliminate funding, resources and allocated time to work on the project. In essence they can render a project dead until it is official killed by the business. In addition, buy in from stake holders is also very important because they can cause delays increased spending in time, money and resources because they do not support a project. Data Stewardship programs are administered by a data steward manager who primary focus is to support, train and manage a cross functional data stewards team. A cross functional team of data stewards are pulled from various departments act to ensure that all systems work to ensure that an organization’s goals are achieved. Typically, data stewards are subject matter experts that act as mediators between their respective departments and IT. Data Quality Procedures Data Governance Committees are composed of data stewards, Upper management, IT Leadership and various subject matter experts depending on a company. The primary goal of this committee is to define strategic goals, coordinate activities, set data standards and offer data guidelines for the business. Data Quality Policies In 1997, Claudia Imhoff defined a Data Stewardship’s responsibility as to approve business naming standards, develop consistent data definitions, determine data aliases, develop standard calculations and derivations, document the business rules of the corporation, monitor the quality of the data in the data warehouse, define security requirements, and so forth. She further explains data stewards responsible for creating and enforcing polices on the following but not limited to issues. • DNS: forward part of a managed domain to one host, but sub domain services to another (Google Apps)

  I was going to post this as a comment against DNS: Forward domain to another host, but I don't seem able to do that. I'm in a similar situation. I have a DNS registered/managed by enom, except with the slight twist that the domain was originally registered with enom through a Google Apps account creation. The domain currently supports a Google Apps site/account. I now want to direct the bare primary domain and www entries to a hosting provider for the website component, but leave the Google Apps setup intact for its services such as calendar, mail etc. For now, I'm leaving the domain managed by enom. Also note that when I registered my account with the hosting provider, I gave the same domain name as the existing domain (e.g. example.com), so at their end I'm working with the same domain name in cpanel, etc. In my case, the existing enom DNS entries don't have an A record for the www.example.com, or the bare example.com domain. Instead, there are 4 x @ records with the Google Apps IP Address, 2 x TXT records with what I assume are Google Apps site verification strings/tokens, and a bunch of CNAME records for the various features of Google Apps (mail, calendar, docs, sites, etc). So, my questions: How do I point the www.example.com and example.com DNS entries at enom to my web site hosting provider, while leaving the domain managed by enom, and the Google Apps services working as they are now (with the obvious exception of Google Sites)? How do I setup the example.com mail-related DNS records (MX, etc) at the web site hosting provider, so that outbound email to [email protected] gets correctly sent to the google apps mail account, and doesn't get trapped inside the pseudo domain within the hosting providers servers?
