  • Spring 2012 Provides Plenty of Events for Developers

    April, May and June will be jam-packed with some really cool events, not just within the KW region, but across Canada (and one very popular annual event coming up in the US). Be sure to check them out if you plan to be in the area, and register early! These events tend to fill up quickly. MoBeers 3: The European Invasion, an event where it's all about great mobile content and beers, is coming to Kitchener on April 10th at The Museum. Registration is $5. For more details, check out http://www.mobeers.com Windows 8 Camps are coming up in Toronto (April 16th & 17th), Vancouver (April 3 & 4), and Montreal (April 10 & 11). It's a 2 day event, and is free to attend.     Below is a much simplified version of what I have in the configuration file of a server run by Nginx 1.2.5, yet it causes 301 Moved Permanently with Location: http://example.com/phpmyadmin/ before serving data, which is not what I expected from the default behavior of the rewrite directive. server { listen 80; location /pma { rewrite ^ /phpmyadmin; } location /phpmyadmin { root /var/www; index Documentation.html; } } When I follow http://example.com/pma, the data is served but the URL in the browser is changed to http://example.com/phpmyadmin/ while it was supposed to stay http://example.com/pma. How do I avoid Nginx sending 301 Moved Permanently so that it doesn't expose the actual directory structure on my server?

    I currently have an SPF record with a hostname of @ that is: v=spf1 mx ip4:x.x.x.243/32 include:_spf.google.com include:amazonses.com ~all I also have another record of" spf2.0/pra mx ip4:x.x.x.243/32 include:_spf.google.com include:amazonses.com ~all We have had a lot of email being bounced back because of spam and now when I go to http://www.kitterman.com/spf/validate.html? and check the "Does my domain already have an SPF record? What is it? Is it valid?" it says no spf record exists. However, when I send an email using our Amazon SES script and check the headers it says it passes the SPF test. Is there something I am missing? Do I need to place that text in quotes ""? Any help would be greatly apprecaited.

    I have a new site that has multiple top-level domains and subdomains all going to it: www.domain.com, campaign.domain.com, chicago.domain.com, domain2.com - all go to the same site/site directory. Right now I have one Google Analytics account profile set up for it, but I want to be able to track the traffic that is hitting those different URLs separately. The domains are being routed on the server-side (not .htaccess). How can I do this in Google Analytics? Do I need to create filters? Or create different profiles for each domain?

    I am building a web application with email notification just like Facebook, which will host in http://www.linode.com/. When a user A comment to a post, the poster will get an email notification from 'no-reply@mydomain.com' with the comment message written by user A. (Not spam) I really like Google Apps but they have sending limits 2000 sending per day, that is not suit for my case becuz I cannot have sending limits. There will be many email notifications. http://support.google.com/a/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=166852 I also need company email accounts for team members use which I prefer Google Apps. My web application will host in linode, I am considering "Amazon Simple Notification Service" for the email notification. My questions are Any other recommend email service provider suits my case for me? They all mention joomla/ which is not the cms used on this domain (it's wordpress fyi). NFakeMail makes it easier for developers to do integration/system testing on software that sends emails by providing a fake SMTP server. You’ll no longer have to manually validate the email sending process. It’s developed in C# and IronPython and targets the .NET 4.0 framework. With NFakeMail you can easily automate the testing of components that rely on sending mails while doing its job.   • cPanel default email address and BCC forward

    In my cPanel I redirect all unknown emails to my gmail address of mymail@gmail.com. I set it from default email address option of cPanel of example.com. I wrote a filter in gmail. When I receive email thait is sent to example.com I move it to folder X. But when I receive an email that is sent to example.com as BCC, I don't see my email address in headers, so filter doesn't work. Email comes to gmail inbox, which I don't like. So I need to forward BCC type emails to mymail+bcc@gmail.com. Or add my email address before forwarding to gmail.

    Mozilla Thunderbird v.3.1.7 I am trying to setup Gmail, but none of the settings are working. I have tried every resource: Blogs, tutorials Instructions by Google Instructions by Thunderbird Questions here But, still its not working. My settings are as follows Server Settings Server Type: IMAP Mail server Server Name: imap.gmail.com Username: user@gmail.com Port: 993 Default: 993 Connection Security: SSL/TLS Authentication method: Encrypted password Outgoing server (SMTP) Server Name: smtp.gmail.com Port: 587 Default: 25 Connection Security: STARTTLS Authentication method: Encrypted password Username: user@gmail.com IMAP is enabled in my Gmail settings. ERROR: Connection to the server user@gmail.com timed out. I am behind a proxy server and I have configured those settings under: Thunderbird Preferences - Advanced - Network and Disk Space - Connection Settings - Manual Proxy Configuration The proxy configuration works, as when I created a Blogs and News feeds a/c, it was working properly and fetching the feeds for me. So, Thunderbird is configured properly as per the proxy settings. Help me.

  • Attach a Wordpress.org blog to my BigCommerce Store as a sub-domain

    I am stuck in a peculiar situation. I have a store on BigCommerce configured with a domain from GoDaddy (mystore.com). I recently created a custom wordpress blog and hosted it on 1and1 hosting (s418783372.onlinehome.us), since bigcommerce can't host Wordpress. Now, I want to use it from a sub-domain of my main-bigcommerece store (models.mystore.com), but it doesn't seem to be working since BigCommerce is the Domain Manager, but GoDaddy is the Domain-Registrar and 1and1 is the host so it doesn't control the domain. I have tried setting up a CNAME record on BigCommerece and when it didn't work asked BigCommerece about it, but they said they can't do anything about it since they aren't the domain registrar and gave me a message saying: The responsiblity to show the name in the browser on the site is up to the server or site admin. The Cname can only get the browser there UPDATE: I succeeded in setting up a CNAME on BigCommerce poinitng to the site at 1and1, but for some-reason, all it gives me is a 404-Not-Found error. I was thinking this is due to a restriction on 1and1, any idea on how to overcome that? Not Found The requested URL / was not found on this server. Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. I tried adding a domain on the 1and1 control panel (http://faq.1and1.co.uk/domains/domain_xfers/dns_transfer/4.html), pointing to models.mystore.com, but it isn't letting me add a Sub-Domain, there... UPDATE: I added mystore.com as an external domain and them added models.mystore.com as a sub-domain on the 1and1 hosting Domains panel. And it works :) Thank you all

    here is my scenario i have a website where i redirect my users basing upon the device they were using, lets say a user is visiting from an iPad, i take him directly to the page of iPad wallpapers, the user selects iPad version & i take the user to the gallery of wallpapers where the user can select & download any wallpaper. Every wallpaper is the required resolution, i have my reasons for doing this, now the thing is there are diff. resolution. versions of an image appearing one 5 diff. sections of my website, each having their own view page Now there is only one record in db.table for the image, and basing on the my consistent naming convention of the images, i pick the required image. this means when 5 different pages are generated in 5 categorized sections of the website, due to a shared DB record, the keywords, the titles and every single detail of the 5 pages is same besides the resolution of the image, and the section specific details that the page has and yeah the pages also have different paths like wallpapers.com\ipad-1\cars\Ferrari-dino.html wallpapers.com\ipad-2\cars\Ferrari-dino.html wallpapers.com\ipad-3\cars\Ferrari-dino.html wallpapers.com\ipad-4\cars\Ferrari-dino.html wallpapers.com\ipad-5\cars\Ferrari-dino.html now this is my scenario, How do Search Engines see it and how do they rank it?   • Dreamhost DNS CNAMEs work at my house, not for anyone else

    I have my domain BQQKSHELF.COM that I bought through Dreamhost. I set up a CNAME so that zach.bqqkshelf.com points to my app at zach.heroku.com. The app at Heroku is working fine. Everyone can agree on that. When I go to zach.bqqkshelf.com, everything seems to work okay too. When I ask my roommate to go to it, it works. When I go to it on my iTouch, it works. When I IM my friends and ask them to go to zach.bqqkshelf.com, they get a time out error. How is this possible?

    Let's say I have a domain, www.mydomain.com. And I ordered a new domain, abc.newdomain.com. Both domains are hosted in the same ISP, so currently requests to either of those addresses result in the same page being shown. I want to redirect all requests to abc.newdomain.com to folder /wp so that when users access abc.newdomain.com they would see whatever is inside folder /wp without seeing the URL change. Questions: How can I achieve this using .htaccess? How can I prevent users from accessing directly /wp directory (meaning that www.mydomain.com/wp would be blocked)?

  • Two different sites, same IP, same top-level domain, on IIS 7.5 -- one works and the other displays HTTP 404 error

    I'm running a Windows 2008 R2 box with IIS 7.5 as the web server. On IIS, I have two websites: mysubsite1.mysite.com and mysubsite2.mysite.com. There is only one IP on the server and both sites share this IP. Here is how I have the bindings configured: mysubsite1.mysite.com works fine. However, mysubsite2.mysite.com gives me the following error: Not Found HTTP Error 404. The requested resource is not found. Now, if I change the Host name field for mysubsite1.mysite.com to blank and restart the web server, both sites work! The question is why is the host name field for the first site causing an HTTP 404 error for the second site when both sites' Host name fields are filled? I would appreciate any insight. Thank you.
