Error 2006: "MySQL server has gone away" using Python, Bottle Microframework and Apache

After accessing my web app using: - Python 2.7 - the Bottle micro framework v. 0.10.6 - Apache 2.2.22 - mod_wsgi - on Ubuntu Server 12.04 64bit; I'm receiving this error after several hours: OperationalError: (2006, 'MySQL server has gone away') I'm using MySQL - the native one included in Python. It usually happens when I don't access the server. I've tried closing all the connections, which I do, using this: cursor.close() db.close() where db is the standard MySQLdb.Connection() call. The my.cnf file looks something like this: key_buffer = 16M max_allowed_packet = 128M thread_stack = 192K thread_cache_size = 8 # This replaces the startup script and checks MyISAM tables if needed # the first time they are touched myisam-recover = BACKUP #max_connections = 100 #table_cache = 64 #thread_concurrency = 10 It is the default configuration file except max_allowed_packet is 128M instead of 16M. The queries to the database are quite simple, at most they retrieve approximately 100 records. Can anyone help me fix this? One idea I did have was use try/except but I'm not sure if that would actually work. Thanks in advance, Jamie

What is the best way to bookmark positions in code in Visual Studio 2008/2010?

I find myself going to about five or six main places in my code 80% of the time and would like a way to go to them fast even if all files are closed. I would like to be able to open up a solution in visual studio and with no file open, see a list of self-labeled bookmarks like this: LoadNext Settings page refresh app.config connections app settings stringhelpers top stringhelpers bottom I click one of these and it opens that file and jumps to that position. How can I best make bookmarks like this in Visual Studio 2008/2010?

XSLT 1.0 recursion

I'm stuck with recursion, was wondering if anyone can help me out with it. I have <Receipts> and <Deposits> elements, that are not verbose, i.e. that a <Receipts> element doesn't have an attribute to show what <Deposit> it is towards. I need to figure out <Deposits> "still amount due" and when a last receipt towards it was paid if any. I'm trying to do it with the following code: The idea was to take 1st deposit and see if there are receipts. If the deposit isn't fully paid and there are more receipts - call that recorsive function with all the same params except now count in following receipt. If there aren't any more receipts or deposit is payed - process it correctly (add required attributes). Otherwise proceed with 2nd deposit. And so on. However, the XSLT crashes with error message that "a processor stack has overflowed - possible cause is infinite template recursion" I would really appreciate any help/teps... I'm not that great with recursion and can't understand why mine here doesn't work. Hi, I'm trying to format a panelgrid according to a value in the backing bean. I'm currently trying this as the value of the onmouseover attribute: this.className=#{(actions.currentlySelectedActionButton == 0)?'actionButton actionButtonChosen':'actionButton'}; whereas the CSS looks like this: (the relevant parts): .actionButton { width: 100%; height: 20px; border: thin solid #000; cursor:default; } .actionButtonChosen { background-color: blue; } It's not working. Kink detection in drawn polylines

Users can sketch in my app using a very simple tool (move mouse while holding LMB). This results in a series of mousemove events and I record the cursor location at each event. The resulting polyline curve tends to be rather dense, with recorded points almost every other pixel. I'd like to smooth this pixelated polyline, but I don't want to smooth intended kinks. So how do I figure out where the kinks are? The image shows the recorded trail (red pixels) and the 'implied' shape as a human would understand it. People tend to slow down near corners, so there is usually even more noise here than on the straight bits.

What I want is this: Start: End: ---------------- ---------------- |asdf | | | ---------------- | stuff | | | | | ---------------- | asdf | ---------------- When you click asdf it should end up looking like the End box but the 'stuff' box should appear gradually so it looks like the asdf box is pulling down the stuff menu. When asdf is clicked again it should look like the stuff box is pulling up the asdf box and end at the Start position. Any tutorials on doing things like this?

How to draw onto a PictureBox image when control resizes?

I am using the pictureBox_Paint event to try and draw an overlay onto the image in a PictureBox. This is working fine until I resize the PictureBox (set to use SizeMode.Zoom), when I do this the overlay graphic is drawn off position by the margin between the image and the edge of the PictureBox. I guess I need to use the ImageRectangle somehow but this is not public.

Horrible WPF performance!

Why am i using over 80% CPU when just hovering some links? Decoding not reversing unicode encoding in Django/Python

Ok, I have a hardcoded string I declare like this name = u"Par Catégorie" I have a # -- coding: utf-8 -- magic header, so I am guessing it's converted to utf-8 Down the road it's outputted to xml through xml_output.toprettyxml(indent='....', encoding='utf-8') And I get a UnicodeDecodeError: 'ascii' codec can't decode byte 0xc3 in position 3: ordinal not in range(128) Most of my data is in French and is ouputted correctly in CDATA nodes, but that one harcoded string keep ... I don't see why an ascii codec is called. what's wrong ?

Hello World bootloader not working!

Hello. I've been working through the tutorials on this webpage which progressively creates a bootloader that displays Hello World. The 2nd tutorial (where we attempt to get an "A" to be output) works perfectly, and yet the 1st tutorial doesn't work for me at all! (The BIOS completely ignores the floppy disk and boots straight into Windows). This is less of an issue, although any explanations would be appreciated. The real problem is that I can't get the 3rd tutorial to work. Instead on outputting "Hello World", I get an unusual character (and blinking cursor) in the bottom-left corner of the screen. It looks a bit like a smiley face inside a rounded rectangle. Does anyone know how to get Hello World to display as it should?

Hey everyone, I'm developing a new ASP.NET MVC 2.0 application and wanting to use the new ASP.NET 4 encoding blocks. My View code contains <%: Model.ActivityName %> however Visual Studio is reporting: Unexpected toke at the position of the : (colon). MouseLeftButtonUpEvent & Bubbling in Canvas

Hi guys, I think I'm going crazy... I have Canvas with event handlers for MouseMove & MouseLeftButtonUp. However MouseLeftButtonUp is not being fired when it happens with cursor over TextBlock that is inside canvas. (it fires just fine when I release mouse button in empty space of the canvas) I tried attaching handler via AddHandler and using regular += syntax, nothing seems to work. I tried using Canvas.CaptureMouse() but it doesnt seem to work either (CaptureMouse returns true btw). MouseLeftButtonUp just doesnt want to propagate to it's parent when it happens over TextBlock (or any other element with IsHitTestVisible = true) inside Canvas. Please help.

oracle pl sql dump result into file

Hi. I'm working on a pl sql stored procedure. What I need is to do a select, use a cursor and for every record build a string using values. At the end I need to write this into a file. I try to use dbms_output.put_line("toto") but the buffer size is to small because I have about 14 millions lines. I call my procedure from a unix ksh. I'm thinking at something like using "spool on" (on the ksh side) to dump the result of my procedure, but I don' know how to do it (if this is possible) Anyone has any idea? Thank alot. C.C.

Relative silverlight control positioning

I Have a canvas and would like to place silverlight elements within that canvas relative to each. For example, I have an element (A) at canvas.top="0" canvas.left="5". I would like to place all elements proceeding that one relative to its position. So if i move A to canvas.top="10" canvas.left="15" all other elements would reposition themselves. IF this is feasibly with a canvas let me know, else can you recommend what control i should be using. Thank you very much
