This does not work - the the binding expression is passed as string to the control: {<uc:usercontrol runtat="server" message='<%#Me.protectedVariable%>'/>} The code behind include a Page.Databind() call in page_load. But this does work: <uc:usercontrol runat="server" id="usercontrol1"/> And in code behind page_load: usercontrol1.message = Me.protectedVariable Do I have to bind from the code-behind? Is this a page life cycle issue?

• Something wrong with deinstallation of GIT in Windows...

  I tried to remove GIT on my windows-XP, by means of the Windows/Configuration/Software menu. After some error message (which I cannot remember), it removed all files. I checked it, and there are no files with ptp in the name left on the entire system. A problem remained however: each time I opened windows-explorer, a nasty error message came calling for a dll file that wasn't there anymore. Anyone know what is going on here? A wild guess: could there be any interference between svn and git, if certain files are linked to both git and svn? Personally, I went to the registry. I found that many traces to GIT are left in the registry after deinstalling GIT the "windows-way". I removed each one carefully by hand, which seems to have solved my problem. This is of course a dangerous path, but I had no choice. Perhaps it is a good idea to look into the Windows-deinstallation script very carefully.

  I have a RESTful WCF service with a method declared like this: [OperationContract(Name = "IncrementAge")] [WebInvoke(UriTemplate = "/", Method = "POST", ResponseFormat = WebMessageFormat.Json)] Person IncrementAge(Person p); Here's the implementation: public Person IncrementAge(Person p) { p.age++; return p; } So it takes the Person complex type, increments the age property by one, and spits it back, using JSON serialization. I can test the thing by sending a POST message to the service like this: POST http://localhost:3602/RestService.svc/ HTTP/1.1 Host: localhost:3602 User-Agent: Fiddler Content-Type: application/json Content-Length: 51 {"age":25,"firstName":"Hejhaj","surName":"Csuhaj"} This works. What if I'd like to have a method like this? Person IncrementAge(Person p, int amount); So it'd have multiple parameters. How should I construct the POST message for this to work? Is this possible?   Okay, I used selenium to test some automation, which I got to work. I did an export of the script for python. When I tried to run the python script it generated, it gave me a "SyntaxError: invalid syntax" error message.   Are there any tools available that will let me rebase in git style an SVN branch onto a new parent? So, in the following situation, I create a feature branch, and there are commits to the trunk E---F---G Feature / A---B---C---D--H--I trunk I'm looking for a tool which copies the trunk, and applies the commits one by one, letting me resolve any conflicts if any exist - but each commit retains the same commit message, and is still a separate commit. E'---F'---G' Feature / A---B---C---D--H--I trunk So commit E' will be a commit with the same changes as E, except in the case of E causing a conflict, in which case E' will differ from E in that E' has the conflicts resolved, and the same commit message as E. I'm looking for this as it helps in keeping branches up to date with trunk - the svnmerge.py / mergeinfo way does not help, as you still need to resolve your changes when you merge back to trunk.

• Fastest way to move records from an Oracle database into SQL Server

  Ok this is the scenario... I have a table in Oracle that acts like a queue... A VB.net program reads the queue and calls a stored proc in SQL Server that processes and then inserts the message into another SQL Server table and then deletes the record from the oracle table. We use a DataReader to read the records from Oracle and then call the stored proc for each of the records. The program seems to be a little slow. The stored procedure itself isn't slow. The SP by itself when called in a loop can process about 2000 records in 20 seconds. But when called from the .Net program, the execution time is about 5 records per second. I have seen that most of the time consumed is in calling the stored procedure and waiting for it to return. Is there a better way of doing this? • Python - Is it possible to get the name of the chained function?

  I'm working on a class that basically allows for method chaining, for setting some attrbutes for different dictionaries stored. The syntax is as follows: d = Test() d.connect().setAttrbutes(Message=Blah, Circle=True, Key=True) But there can also be other instances, so, for example: d = Test() d.initialise().setAttrbutes(Message=Blah) Now I believe that I can overwrite the "setattrbutes" function; I just don't want to create a function for each of the dictionary. Instead I want to capture the name of the previous chained function. So in the example above I would then be given "connect" and "initialise" so I know which dictionary to store these inside. I hope this makes sense. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated :)

• NSIS- Error handling

  I have written an installer and uninstaller in NSIS which creates and drops an sql database, which is working fine. I have written some .bat and .sql files to create and drop the database and then just call these files from NSIS script. My problem is if I keep this database open in SQL Server Management Studio and run the uninstaller ideally it should give an error message that the database is opened. In my case it shows the success message of uninstaller but dosnt drop the database properly. How can I handle this error in NSIS?

  Hi, Using the DTD validator here, I am informed that the following DTD is invalid. <!ENTITY % text "(#PCDATA|L)*"> <!ELEMENT H (%text;)+> <!ELEMENT L (#PCDATA)> The error message is: "A '(' character or an element type is required within declaration of element type "H"." at line 2, column 22. Can anyone please point out why it is invalid? The error message is not exactly very friendly to me. Thanks.

  Any failed ASSERT statements on Windows cause the below debug message to appear and freeze the applications execution. I realise this is expected behaviour but it is running periodically on a headless machine so prevent the unit tests from failing, instead waiting on user input indefinitely. Is there s a registry key or compiler flag I can use to prevent this message box from requesting user input whilst still allowing the test to fail under ASSERT? Basically, I want to do this without modifying any code, just changing compiler or Windows options. Thanks!

• UnicodeDecodeError from a GET-parameter in webapp2

  I'm getting a UnicodeDecodeError when recieving a GET-parameter from webapp2 that contains unicode characters, and then using it to do a NDB query. I get the same error message when manually running a unicode() on the parameter in the handler, so there either seems to be a problem in webapp2's URL routing or I've missed something. Preferably, all GET-parameters should be converted to unicode before getting passed into the handler so I don't need to do manual conversions in all of my handlers. I actually think it's worked before in an earlier version. The full error message read: UnicodeDecodeError: 'ascii' codec can't decode byte 0xc3 in position 1: ordinal not in range(128) The GET-parameter contains the following string: göteborg. It looks fine when I raise an Exception on it, but gives me an error when I (or NDB) use unicode() on it. EDIT: In NDB, it fails on the following code: File "C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\google_appengine\google\appengine\api\datastore_types.py", line 1562, in PackString pbvalue.set_stringvalue(unicode(value).encode('utf-8')) Thanks.

  I have a class that implements an interface. In another area of the code I check if that class instance contains that interface, but it doesn't work. The check to see if the class contains the interface always fails (false) when it should be true. Below is a simple representation of what I am trying to accomplish.   I have a Stream object that occasionally gets some data on it, but at unpredictable intervals. Messages that appear on the Stream are well-defined and declare the size of their payload in advance (the size is a 16-bit integer contained in the first two bytes of each message). I'd like to have a StreamWatcher class which detects when the Stream has some data on it. Once it does, I'd like an event to be raised so that a subscribed StreamProcessor instance can process the new message. Can this be done with C# events without using Threads directly? It seems like it should be straightforward, but I can't get quite get my head around the right way to design this.

  Newbie in testing. I generated a test case using Selenium, and then exported it as a Python script. Now, when I try to run that in terminal, I get following error: raise exception_class(message, screen, stacktrace) NoSuchElementException: Message: u'Unable to locate element: {"method":"link text","selector":"delete"}' I am using the command generated by Selenium i.e driver.find_element_by_link_text("delete").click() The reason for the error I believe is that the link "delete" in my web page is seen only when I click on a particular line to be deleted. So I guess it is being unable to locate the link. Please suggest what alternative measure could I use to locate and click on the "delete" link. Thanks in Advance:)
