  • Optionally open folder in new window in vista using keyboard key

    In XP, to ensure a folder opened in a new window, I held down CTRL when I opened (by mouse or keyboard) the folder. This action is so ingrained to me, I pretty much don't even realise I'm doing it at a conscious level. Unfortunately, this action apparently hasn't made it to Vista. Is there a new way to do this, or am I just missing something obvious?

  • Trouble with Debian Lenny and Sphinx

    I've very basic understanding of linux systems, but I've a server which was setup a while ago to host some web apps. Recently I decided to test out and implement Sphinx but unfortunately I cant get the install to work. I'm running a Debian Lenny distro and when I try to install sphinx it says - checking MySQL include files... configure: error: missing include files. ****************************************************************************** ERROR: cannot find MySQL include files. Check that you do have MySQL include files installed. The package name is typically 'mysql-devel'. If include files are installed on your system, but you are still getting this message, you should do one of the following: 1) either specify includes location explicitly, using --with-mysql-includes; 2) or specify MySQL installation root location explicitly, using --with-mysql; 3) or make sure that the path to 'mysql_config' program is listed in your PATH environment variable. To disable MySQL support, use --without-mysql option. ****************************************************************************** I do have mysql 5.1 installed but I can't find the include files, AND one more thing.. I read around the net that I probably need libmysqlclient15-dev but when I try to install that using apt-get i receive the following error.   • Windows 7 Ultimate Restore From Another Machine

    The situation I have an old machine running Windows Server 2008. I make a backup of selected directories. New Machine: I install Windows 7 Ultimate (and Windows Server 2008 [dual boot]) I cannot restore those files that I backed-up on the old machine. On the New machine neither the Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 Restore (Recovery) can 'see' the backup files even though they are on the local machine. Is this behaviour (non-behaviour) 'by design' or am I missing something?

And then I setup some quotas on Default policy. Quota: - Policy: Default - Name: Sending quota - Track: SenderIP:/24 - Period: 3600 - Verdict: REJECT - Data: - Disabled: no Limits: - Type: Message count - Counter limit: 2 - Disabled: no But, problem is that I'm still able to send as manu messages as I want. Perhaps I missing something?

    I am trying to run growl notify over ssh like so ssh [email protected] "growlnotify -m test" is run I get bash: growlnotify command not found however running it straight from the mac it runs fine am I missing something simple or is there a really complex reason this won't work? ps. ssh keys are enabled in both directions edit: I logged into the mac from a remote machine over ssh and tried to run it and it ran fine so it seems to just affect the one line login and run way and DrC tried that cated the .profile to .bashrc

    Windows Calculator can switch into a "Scientific" mode, getting more math and logical operators, but that's not good enough. I know there are tons of features its missing, such as the ones we see in the Windows 7 calc, or simply making things more visual. Its been years and I still haven't found a good calculator replacement. Suggestions? And hopefully your calc replaces MS Calc when I press the dedicated "calculator key" on my Keyboard, so I don't have to hunt around for a shortcut.

    I have setup a Fedora 13 minimum install inside of a VirtualBox VM, and am following this tutorial to setup Cobbler: PXE virtual network with Virtualbox and Cobbler When I go to run the initial cobbler sync the command seems hang. How long should it take to run this command? Since I did a minimum install of Fedora 13 am I missing a application that would prevent cobbler from executing the sync properly?

  • Cinema4D XML scene not rendering texture

    I exported a basic Cinema4D scene as XML (File Export Cinema 4D XML) then opened up the xml in Cinema4D and it looses the reference to the texture applied. If I open up the original c4d file and render it I can see my texture applied. If I open up the exported xml file and render it the texture is missing. Any way to get around that ?

  • Where can I report an issue with IIS?

    While working with an ASP.NET application on Chrome for Android I discovered that Request.Browser.Cookies returns False for that browser (despite the browser supporting cookies). Based on what I've read, this indicates a problem with the database which ASP.NET (and, I assume, IIS) uses to look up information about different UserAgents. The fact that it returns False means that the database is either missing Chrome for Android, or has invalid data for it. What is the a proper place to report IIS issues like this?

    I have a broken AVI, it won't play in VLC, Xine or MPlayer. I tried Handbrake (reads the file and resets the source to None), OggConvert, Avidemux and mencoder fail to read the file, I cannot seem to reencode this file. I suspect the header info is corrupt, is there a way to get the a/v streams out with a missing header?

  • mdadm software RAID doesn't load at boot

    Hi there, I'm using mdadm to create a raid1 mirror across two disks. I can create my /dev/md5 array perfectly using the tools, but it does not automatically reload my /dev/md5 when I restart, I need to manually recreate the array. Am I missing something obvious here?
