• send credentials with url, possible?

  Hi. I got a web service that I protect with basic authentication and use ssl. to make it easy for the clients that are gone use this web service I want to skip the 401 and send the credentials with the url (I would like so the customer can access the web service with url from their code / web app), question is this possible? I know about headers but a lot of the clients gone use this do not got the proper developing team to do code. thanks

• Hibernate schema parameter doesn't work in @SequenceGenerator annotation

  I hav the following code: @Entity @Table(name = "my_table", schema = "my_schema") @SequenceGenerator(name = "my_table_id_seq", sequenceName = "my_table_id_seq", schema = "my_schema") public class MyClass { @Id @GeneratedValue(generator = "my_table_id_seq", strategy = GenerationType.SEQUENCE) private int id; } Database: Postgresql 8.4, Hibernate annotations 3.5.0-Final. When saving the object of MyClass it generates the following SQL query: select nextval('my_table_id_seq') So there is no schema prefix and therefore the sequence cannot be found. When I write the sequenceName like sequenceName = "my_schema.my_table_id_seq" everything works. Do I have misunderstandings for meaning of schema parameter or is it a bug? Any ideas how to make schema parameter working?

  We have the following tools in place: Subversion (Version 1.5.9) Polarion (version 3.2.2) Polarion is based on Subversion, so on every action that changes anything (which is often the case), Polarion will use a Subversion commit to change anything. All things are currently stored in one and only one repository, so every commit of every user (some 100-200 on the same repository) will trigger the pre-commit hook. So what is the best strategy to provide pre-commit hooks that will trigger only for some, but not all projects run as fast as possible, because every pre-commit hook will block all other commits. We have tried to implement pre-commit hooks with Java (using SVNKit), but this will start on every commit a Java VM. So any ideas how to implement that nicely?

  Our globalization mechanism stores error messages in a SQL 2005 DB. Some of the error messages are used as subjects on email messages sent to the development team.   I need to quickly replace a listings website which has the following characteristics: smallish database (10,000 items, < 1GB) < 10% of the items updated/created/removed daily most common activity is searching the whole dataset, returning 1-1000 items traffic peaks at 1m page impressions per day Scaling strategy for the existing app has been to separate read-only and read/write activity. Multiple slave databases are used for searching and writes are done to a master, which update the slaves using MS SQL replication. Since read activity is more common than write, this has proved to be a cheap way to do database load balancing, without true clustering. I now need to replace the app - are there any C# open-source apps which scale as neatly as this?

  Hi, I'm currently working on a Datawarehouse project using an Oracle Database, Oracle Data Integrator, Oracle Warehouse Builder and some Jython thrown in for good measure. All of which is held within TFS. My background is .net and prior to this project was seeing a lot of promise in CI. I'm not suggesting that the testing element of CI is feasible in this instance, but I would like to implement a stable deployment strategy. What I'm trying to understand is whether or not I can build some NANT scripts that will allow me to deploy ODI\OWB\Oracle DB code to any given environment at any point. Has anyone tried this before? Are there more appropriate tools out there that lends themselves better to this sort of toolset? Am I just a crazy horse to be evening contemplating this? Any view would be greatly appreciated.   I am working with a number of data entities which can be created, read, updated and deleted, and I find myself writing more or less the same code for them. For example, I need to sometimes output data as JSON, and sometimes in a table format. I am finding myself writing 2 different types of view to export the data to. Also, the creation of those entities within DB usually differs just by the SQL statements and the input parameters. I am thinking of creating a strategy pattern to represent different 'contexts'. For example, the read() method of an AJAX context will be to return the data as JSON. However, I wonder if others have deal with this problem beforehand and will like to know what design patterns are usually use for CRUD operations.

I have one API controller and a few Groovy classes in src/groovy folder.   Suppose we have a DAG with edges labeled with numbers. Define the value of a path as the product of the labels. For each (source,sink)-pair I want to find the sum of the values of all the paths from source to sink. You can do this in polynomial time with dynamic programming, but there are still some choices that can be made in how you decompose the problem. In my case I have one DAG that has to be evaluated repeatedly with different labelings. My question is: for a given DAG, how can we pre-compute a good strategy for computing these values for different labelings repeatedly. It would be nice if there was an algorithm that finds an optimal way, for example a way that minimizes the number of multiplications. But perhaps this is too much to ask, I would be very happy with an algorithm that just gives a good decomposition.

• IronPython 2.6.1 for .NET 4.0 RC targeting Silverlight?

  Since the 2.6.1 .NET 4.0 RC release of IronPython (found @ http://ironpython.codeplex.com/releases/view/40146) does not include Silverlight binaries I am wondering if anyone has had any success getting it working themselves. I'd assume it would not be too hard to recompile the source against Silverlight but I can't seem to locate it on Codeplex. EDIT: Per the IronPython team, Silverlight 4 is not yet a stable release so no fully compatible binaries have been released.

• cakephp - try/catch an Action

  I would like to somehow apply a try catch statement to all Actions as a backstop for any uncaught exceptions. I think this would be particularly helpful for Ajax Actions, because the catch statement could send back a default 4xx status code. Prototype's onFailure() function could then do the client-side error handling. How can I do this without wrapping the Action call with a try/catch in the cake dispatcher like this: try { output = $controller->dispatchMethod($params['action'], $params['pass']); } catch {...} Does anybody have a suggestion or another workable strategy for gaining this functionality without touching the dispatcher? How do people feel about putting exception handling in the Displatcher? I imagine when cake drops php 4 support, there will be a built-in mechanism for this.
