• NoClassDefFoundError when running java tool under Xcode

  Hi all, I'm trying to create a Java Tool by using Xcode. I've already changed my build.xml to have Xcode target java 1.6 and not 1.3 so I can use generics. I'm getting no build errors and using 'javac' and 'java' in the terminal works. Now I want it to work in Xcode as well. I keep getting the following error: Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: MyClass where 'MyClass' is the class containing the main method. It probably has something to do with the classpath, which as the build.xml prescribes is "${bin}". There is a bin folder in my project folder, and it contains all the .class files needed to run the program. If anybody could help me, it'd be great!

• How to make IIS wait for WCF service gets ready?

  I have a WCF service hosted in IIS 7. It takes some minutes until this service finish to load its data and ready for external calls. Data loads in internal thread. The problem is that from IIS point the service is ready just after it was activated (by some call), and it process a request without waiting for data to be loaded. Is it possible to tell IIS that the service is still loading and make this service unavailable for requests? No problem if such request will throw an exception.

• Disabled Checkboxes

  Hi, Hoping someone can assist or point me in the right direction to another thread/url with regards to disabled checkboxes. I basically have a couple of checkboxes in my form, that are not database items but am retrieving the source value based on a database column. As I do not want the user to be able to change these checboxes, I have disabled these checboxes When I query a record, the form at start-up retrieves the value for the checkbox with no issues. The problem is, when I hit a validation error on my form when the page is submitted, my checkbox values that were originally retrieved as 'Y', i.e checked are now null. Can anyone pls assist with what is going on or a workaround inorder to maintain these values when a validation error occurs. Thanks.

• Nested for loop error with !null checking an element that doesn't exist

  I am currently using nested for loops in a 2D array of size 4,2. When I run my program, I get index out of bounds Exception on the following line else if (state[i][j+1] != null && state[i][j].getFlash() <= state[i][j].getCycleLength() && state[i][j+1].getCycleLength() == state[i][j].getCycleLength()){ } It says the index out of bounds is 2. I would understand the error if I wasn't checking to see if [i][j+1] wasn't null, but I don't understand the exception with the check? I tried moving around the !null check but the program still fails on this line. Any help would be greatly appreciated.   Hello, I am getting the following error when I try to push my app to heroku. I saw a similar thread on here, but the issues seemed related to OSX. I am running windows 7 $ git push heroku master Counting objects: 1652, done. Delta compression using up to 4 threads. fatal: object 91f5d3ee9e2edcd42e961ed2eb254d5181cbc734 inconsistent object lengt h (476 vs 8985) error: pack-objects died with strange error error: failed to push some refs to '[email protected]:floating-stone-94.git I'm not sure what this means. I can't find any consistent answers on the internet. I tried re-creating my ssh public key but still the same.

• IIS 7 problem which does not occur under apache

  I'm hosting a little site using a JavaScript to draw a simple graph. It involves one html index file, some css and some js files. It has all been working perfectly on two different apache servers, but when I set up IIS 7 the ajax calls fail. I get no java debug errors in firefox that I can work with, or any kind of error message at all. Without going into the code itself, does anyone have a similar experience with IIS? This is the first time I'm using IIS so I'm not quite sure what to expect to have trouble with. I'd love some input on this, if I have to delve into the code itself I'll make a new thread, I just thought I'd see if this could be a typical issue. Any help is appreciated!

  I am trying to write a RegEx rule to find all a href HTML links on my webpage and add a 'rel="nofollow"' to them. However, I have a list of URLs that must be excluded (for exmaple, ANY (wildcards) internal link (eg. pokerdiy.com) - so that any internal link that has my domain name in is excluded from this. • Can Parallel.ForEach be used safely with CloudTableQuery

  I have a reasonable number of records in an Azure Table that I'm attempting to do some one time data encryption on. I thought that I could speed things up by using a Parallel.ForEach. Also because there are more than 1K records and I don't want to mess around with continuation tokens myself I'm using a CloudTableQuery to get my enumerator. My problem is that some of my records have been double encrypted and I realised that I'm not sure how thread safe the enumerator returned by CloudTableQuery.Execute() is. Has anyone else out there had any experience with this combination?

• Sending out 20,000+ emails with asp.net

  I am writing an application that will need to send a massive amount of emails to our students who will be selected from our database (each email will be personalized to the extent that will include their name, course of study etc...so needs to be sent one at a time). I could do this looping over an SmtpClient, but I'm afraid that with the numbers I'm trying to send, I'll ultimately run into timeout issues or my thread being killed because of lack of machine resources. At this point I'm just looking for suggestions of a better way to handle this, or if looping over SmtpClient is an ok solution, how I should go about handling it to prevent what I posted above. Would a web service be a better alternative? Please advise, TIA

  I'm running a database-heavy Java application on a cluster, using Connector/J 5.1.14. Therefore, I have up to 150 concurrent tasks accessing the same MySQL database. I get the following error: Exception in thread "main" com.mysql.jdbc.exceptions.jdbc4.MySQLNonTransientConnectionException: Too many connections This happens because the server can't handle so many connections. I can't change anything on the database server. So my question is: Can I check if a connection is possible BEFORE I actually connect to the database? • How to download files directly to disk on the iPhone os?

  Hi, I would like to download files directly from an URL to the disk using objective-c on the iPhone os. Currently I am using NSURLConnection to send a synchronousRequest, writing the returned NSData into a file. How can I change the download handling (still having the request beeing synchronous, it is already in a background thread) to write the data directly to disk, not using memory variables to store the complete content (only small parts)? A sample code would be appreciated. Thank you all in advance for your responses!

• MySQL Locks: order of unblocked threads

  I have a MySQL ISAM table being accessed my multiple php instances. Right now I'm using a WRITE lock to serialize access to this table. My question is how do I ensure that the PHP instances get served on a First-Come-First-Serve basis? Or is this the default behaviour? The official MySQL documentation doesn't mention anything about the blocked thread order for threads of the same lock type (ie multiple threads attempting a WRITE LOCK). It only mentions that a WRITER will jump to the front of the waiting queue if READERS are waiting.

• Where is the chink in Google Chrome's armor?

  While browsing with Chrome, I noticed that it responds extremely fast (in comparison with IE and Firefox on my laptop) in terms of rendering pages, including JavaScript heavy sites like gmail. This is what googlebook on Chrome has to say tabs are hosted in process rather than thread. compile javascript using V8 engine as opposed to interpreting. Introduce new virtual machine to support javascript heavy apps introduce "hidden class transitions" and apply dynamic optimization to speed up things. Replace inefficient "Conservative garbage colllection" scheme with more precise garbage collection scheme. Introduce their own task scheduler and memory manager to manage the browser environment. All this sounds so familiar, and Microsoft has been doing such things for long time.. Windows os, C++, C# etc compilers, CLR, and so on. So why isn't Microsoft or any other browser vendor taking Chrome's approach? Is there a flaw in Chrome's approach? If not, is the rest of browser vendor community caught unaware with Google's approach?

• Unexpected cross threading issue

  I'm trying to do something very simple in principal, but I keep getting a cross-threading exception which has me stumped because I'm not setting out to use multiple threads. I have a Windows Forms application. It launches another Windows Forms application (using the System.Diagnostics.Process class) , and catches the Exited event when that application is closed. My application event handler then tries to copy text from the clipboard to a control on the current displayed form. At this point a Cross-threading exception is thrown. I assume that the problem is that the event from the closing application is in another thread (I'm outside my comfort zone here, so bear with me), so the question boils down to "How do I prevent this exception?" I'm somewhat constrained into having to copy from the clipboard, but I could launch the other application a different way if that would solve the problem.

• CaptureCameraDialog returns OK but does not save (Motorola ES400)

  Ok it seems like everyone in the world has issues with CaptureCameraDialog. In my case the result is OK, but when taking the photo there is a MessageBox that says "Error" that appears and disappears in the blink of an eye, then returns to my app (so I don't have time to actually read the error). It has not saved the file. It does not throw an error to my application. • qapps runs well but breakpoint sometimes generates segmentation fault

  I have a qApp that generates a segmentation fault only when a breakpoint is inserted in the code (I can put it at different places) and only after 4-5 breakpoint stops. Do I have a problem with my code or is this a DBG bug. the method is part of a QThread Class. Basically what I did is i took the mandlebrot example, and have 3 instances of it in my program. So the program would look like a mainwindow that has 3 mandlebrot widgets in it, one besides the other. Is it possible that GDB doesnt support debugging qthread subclasses that are instantiated multiple times or is it thread-unsafe to do so. I dont have any problems at run-time.

• "No row with the given identifier exists" although it DOES exist!

  Hello all! I am using Hibernate and getting Exception in thread "main" org.hibernate.ObjectNotFoundException: No row with the given identifier exists: [<MyDbObject>#271] What is pretty weird about this error is, that the object with the given id exists in the database. I inserted the problematic record in another run of the application. If I access it in the same run (i.e. same hibernate session) there seem to be no problems retrieving the data. Just because it could be a fault of the mapping: public class ProblemClass { @ManyToOne(optional = false) private MyDbObject myDbObject; } public class MyDbObject { @OneToMany(mappedBy = "myDbObject") private List<ProblemClass> problemClasses; } I have absolutely no clue even where to look at. Any hints highly appreciated!

• How to handle recurring execution?

  I am trying to validate the solution I came up for what I think is a fairly typical problem. I have a service running and every 10 minutes it should do something. I've ended up with the following: private bool isRunning = true; public void Execute() { while(isRunning) { if(isRunning) { DoSomething(); m_AutoResetEvent.WaitOne(new Timespan(0, 10, 0)); } } } public void Stop() { isRunning = false; m_AutoResetEvent.Set(); } The immediate potential problems I can see is that I'm not doing any sort of locking around the isRunning modification in Stop() which gets called by another thread but I'm not sure I really need to? The worst that I think could happen is that it runs one extra cycle. Beyond that are there any obvious problems with this code? Is there a better way to solve this problem that I'm unaware of?

• Combining RequiresSTA and Timeout attributes on a test fails

  I have a test that opens and closes a WPF Window and thus requires the STA threading apartment. To safeguard the test against the window staying open (and thus hang the test indefinitely) I wanted to use the Timeout attribute. The problem is that applying the Timeout attribute causes the test to fail on timeout regardless of whether the test works or not. Without the attribute everything works fine. My theory is that Timeout causes the test to be executed on a new thread that does not inherit the STA apartment. Is there another way to have both STA and the timeout safeguard in NUnit? • Temporary files & folders on Windows

  Emulating multithreading by loading a DLL multiple times (it's designed for this). Since LoadLibrary() doesn't really allow it, the DLL copies itself into a temporary file, via GetTempPath() and GetTempFileName(). It's a small file and upon thread destruction it frees the library and deletes the temporary file. Problem now is that the number of threads is configurable (maniacs can pick 50, 100, more) which basically exposes the risk of running unstable, crash and not go through the usual "delete temporary files" routine. Is it okay if I just leave those temporary files to die there? Does the OS usually clean the up by itself? Or should I write an autocleanup routine? If yes, how can I go about saving another temporary file to hold a list with those files, and not hit UAC restrictions or otherwise? Any ideas?

  Hello, In onCreate method I hav the following order of code objItem = new DbClass(this);//the onCreate event creates the database new PrepareAdapter1().execute();//this task uses the tables, but SQLException occures, tables doesn't exists As you see in my short code, I get a new instance of the SQLiteOpenHelper class, which does create the tables in onCreate. And after that I start an AsyncTask instance where I use the created table. But I get SQLiteException as table doesn't not exists. I am using this code in wrong way? I expect the table to be created when I launch the thread.

• Learning rails and AJAX. How do I load a div via ajax and then toggle hiding/showing it?

  I'm doing my first Ruby on Rails project. I am working on a project where the user can add a new message. Then they can add updates to this message like a thread. I've got it all written and now I'm going back and applying some AJAX. I want to show just the main message when the page first loads. Then when I click a link I want an AJAX event to fire that populates a div with all the updates to the message. Then I want this same link to toggle hiding and showing the div. I've made a submit button to fire the ajax and get back the updates using form_remote_tag. I've also created a separate link to toggle the hiding using $(div_id).toggle();. But now I'm stuck on how to combine these two things into one all purpose link. Thanks.
