    I want to be able to detect and abort OS shutdown from my application, preferably by using the Windows API. I know that it is possible to do this manually using the command shutdown -a In the worst case, I could ShellExecute this, but I was wondering if there was a better way. Also, how do I find out programatically that the OS is about to shut down, via the Win32 API?

    I need an open source project with an API capable of reading a live video stream (stream codec can be any API can read - I can provide with practically any live streamable one) giving me last image data for some processing (like brightness\contrast or more exotic filtering) being able to receive data I've changed and starting to stream that data on to some http://localhost:port/ in some format I need it to be easily accessible from C# (even better, written in C#).

  • Will HTML 5 kill Flash? Is it even worth my time to learn Flash?

    Apple is always in the news these days with "i" this and "i" that. One of the biggest beefs people have with Apple is the lack of Flash support. Last year I held the same belief, Apple's choice to exclude Flash support just seemed senseless. HTML 5 seems to have changed this though. One of the most popular users of Flash is YouTube, and they are already getting on the HTML 5 bandwagon (http://www.youtube.com/html5). Still, I am torn between the two technologies. What is your take? Is it better for a budding developer to learn Flash or should their efforts be devoted to HTML5?

  • Catch $.getJSON error

    I've been trying to figure this out for hours. I have a DYNAMIC youtube search, which I use Youtube's JSON api for. It works usually, but there are times that it won't find anything. Is there a way to figure out if it finds nothing, and then end the function because otherwise it stops the entire code. I tried jsonp, but that didn't seem to be correct. Somewhere I read that error catching is built into the newest jQuery getJSON, but I couldn't find it. The code is really tedious so I'd rather not post it unless it comes to that. I'd appreciate any help! Thanks guys. error showing that json didn't return anything jquery-1.4.4.min.js:32 TypeError: Result of expression 'j' [undefined] is not an object.

I'm using Qt for symbian. my problem is that Qt doesn't provide ready to use API for bluetooth.Only Qt extended(which runs on embedded linux) has API for bluetooth.   • Is it possible to run locally JRuby on Google App Engine without restarting server on every change?

    Unfortunately, GAE requires restart of the server on each code change. Is it possible to prevent it and have immediate feedback after code save? Or, can I import Google App Engine's API into my ruby code and run it on Sinatra server? Tried this but it fails on "import com.google.appengine.api" (it doesn't know what 'com' is). For Sinatra, I use "Rerun" ( http://github.com/alexch/rerun ) which restarts server immediately after a change with minimum wait. Thanks.

I get the following error with both moseycode-0.2.0 and moseycode-0.2.1. 733 KB/s (410936 bytes in 0.546s) pkg: /data/local/tmp/moseycode-0.2.1.apk Failure [INSTALL_PARSE_FAILED_MANIFEST_MALFORMED] I tried on emulators(avd) with Google api 7, android 2.1, Google Api 6.     I'd like to be able to post twitter messages from python 3.0. None of the twitter API I have looked at support python 3.1. Since the post proceedure only requires this : JSON: curl -u username:password -d status="your message here" http://api.twitter.com/1/statuses/update.json I was wondering if it is possible with the standard libraries to format this so a message could be sent. My head says it should be possible.

    This seems like it should be fairly easy - but I can't find the right selector for it According to the docs (http://api.jquery.com/hidden-selector/ and http://api.jquery.com/visible-selector/)... Elements can be considered hidden for several reasons: An ancestor element is hidden, so the element is not shown on the page. What I want to detect is "this element is visible, but is contained in a hidden parent". Ie, if I made the parent visible, this element would also be visible.

    I'm trying to set up a MySQL query that will insert a row into table2 if a row in table1 exist already, otherwise it will just insert the row into table1. I need to find a way to adapt the following query into inserting a row into table2 with the existing row's id. INSERT INTO table1 (host, path) VALUES ('youtube.com', '/watch') IF NOT EXISTS ( SELECT * FROM table1 WHERE host='youtube.com' AND path='/watch' LIMIT 1); Something kind of like this: INSERT ... IF NOT EXISTS(..) ELSE INSERT INTO table2 (table1_id) VALUES(row.id); Except I don't know the syntax for this.

We are currently not in a position to deploy our application on top of App Engine because of limitations in the java frameworks (jboss seam 2.2.0) we are using to build our j2ee application. We would eventually want to deploy our production application on top of Google App Engine, but what are the short term options (java based open source products) which provides comparable functionality to Google App Engine's Image API and will have an easier migration path at a later point in time.

  • Hide public method used to help test a .NET assembly

    I have a .NET assembly, to be released. Its release build includes: A public, documented API of methods which people are supposed to use A public but undocumented API of other methods, which exist only in order to help test the assembly, and which people are not supposed to use The assembly to be released is a custom control, not an application. To regression-test it, I run it in a testing framework/application, which uses (in addition to the public/documented API) some advanced/undocumented methods which are exported from the control. For the public methods which I don't want people to use, I excluded them from the documentation using the <exclude> tag (supported by the Sandcastle Help File Builder), and the [EditorBrowsable] attribute, for example like this: /// <summary> /// Gets a <see cref="IEditorTransaction"/> instance, which helps /// to combine several DOM edits into a single transaction, which /// can be undone and redone as if they were a single, atomic operation. /// </summary> /// <returns>A <see cref="IEditorTransaction"/> instance.</returns> IEditorTransaction createEditorTransaction(); /// <exclude/> [EditorBrowsable(EditorBrowsableState.Never)] void debugDumpBlocks(TextWriter output); This successfully removes the method from the API documentation, and from Intellisense.     I've been assigned a project for a website where users will be allowed to upload video's (using a YouTube API) but more importantly (for me) they will also be allowed to submit video embed codes (from numerous video sites, YouTube, Vimeo, etc. etc.). Having no experience with allowing users to embed video: How can I best protect against cross site scripting and/or cross site request forgery attacks specifically for video embedding? What are some of the common pitfalls to watch for? At a minumum I would think to strip all tags except <object> and <embed>. But I have a feeling this will not be enough, will it? If it is of importance, the environment will be: PHP/Zend Framework MySQL Bonuspoints: Is there a common minimum golden rule/code template for video embed codes that are valid across all video sites that I could use to filter the input?
