• How to handle Oracle Stored Proc with ASP.NET and Oracle Data Provider?

  I have been struggling with this for quite some time having been accustomed to SQL Server. I have the following code and I have verified that the OracleDbType's are correct and have verified that the actual values being passed to the parameters match. I think my problem may rest with the return value. All it does is give me the row count. I read somewhere that the return parameter must be set at the top.   Hi guys I'm trying to paste text right into where the cursor currently is. I have been trying to do what it says at: - http://dev.ragfield.com/2009/09/insert-text-at-current-cursor-location.html The main deal is that I can't just go textbox1.text (etc) because the textfield is in the middle of a custom cell. I want to just have some text added to where the cursor is (when I press a custom key on a keyboard). -I just want to paste a decimal into the textbox... • bind() fails with windows socket error 10038

  I'm trying to write a simple program that will receive a string of max 20 characters and print that string to the screen. The code compiles, but I get a bind() failed: 10038. After looking up the error number on msdn (socket operation on nonsocket), I changed some code from int sock; to SOCKET sock which shouldn't make a difference, but one never knows. • UIPageControl bug: showing one bullet first and then showing everything

  I have some strange behavior using a UIPageControl: First it appears showing only one bullet, then when I move the scroll view all the bullets appear correctly. Is there something I'm missing before I add it as a subview? • Partial generic type inference possible in C#?

  I am working on rewriting my fluent interface for my IoC class library, and when I refactored some code in order to share some common functionality through a base class, I hit upon a snag. Note: This is something I want to do, not something I have to do. If I have to make do with a different syntax, I will, but if anyone has an idea on how to make my code compile the way I want it, it would be most welcome. I want some extension methods to be available for a specific base-class, and these methods should be generic, with one generic type, related to an argument to the method, but the methods should also return a specific type related to the particular descendant they're invoked upon. Better with a code example than the above description methinks. What I want is for the extension method (Parameter<T>) to be able to be invoked on both ConcreteTypeRegistration and DelegateRegistration, and in both cases the return type should match the type the extension was invoked on. The problem is as follows: I would like to write: ct.Parameter<string>("name", "Lasse") ^------^ notice only one generic argument but also that Parameter<T> returns an object of the same type it was invoked on, which means: ct.Parameter<string>("name", "Lasse").SomethingConcrete(); ^ ^-------+-------^ | | +---------------------------------------------+ .SomethingConcrete comes from the object in "ct" which in this case is of type ConcreteTypeRegistration Is there any way I can trick the compiler into making this leap for me? If I add two generic type arguments to the Parameter method, type inference forces me to either provide both, or none, which means this: public static TReg Parameter<TReg, T>( this TReg p, string name, T value) where TReg : ParameterizedRegistrationBase gives me this: Using the generic method 'ConsoleApplication16.Extensions.Parameter<TReg,T>(TReg, string, T)' requires 2 type arguments Using the generic method 'ConsoleApplication16.Extensions.Parameter<TReg,T>(TReg, string, T)' requires 2 type arguments Which is just as bad. I can easily restructure the classes, or even make the methods non-extension-methods by introducing them into the hierarchy, but my question is if I can avoid having to duplicate the methods for the two descendants, and in some way declare them only once, for the base class. Let me rephrase that. Is there a way to change the classes in the first code example above, so that the syntax in the Main-method can be kept, without duplicating the methods in question? The code will have to be compatible with both C# 3.0 and 4.0. Edit: The reason I'd rather not leave both generic type arguments to inference is that for some services, I want to specify a parameter value for a constructor parameter that is of one type, but pass in a value that is a descendant. For the moment, matching of specified argument values and the correct constructor to call is done using both the name and the type of the argument. • Dynamic model choice field in django formset using multiple select elements

Each group has 20-200 distinct product numbers (pnumber), so there are at least a few thousand CatalogItems. I am working on formsets for the Transaction model. Instead of a single select menu with the several thousand CatalogItems for the ForeignKey field, I want to substitute three drop-down menus, for group, run, and pnumber, which uniquely identify the CatalogItem. I'd also like to limit the choices in the second two drop-downs to those runs and pnumbers which are available for the currently selected product group (I can update them via AJAX if the user changes the product group, but it's important that the initial page load as described without relying on AJAX). What's the best way to do this? As a point of departure, here's what I've tried/considered so far: My first approach was to exclude the item foreign key field from the form, add the substitute dropdowns by overriding the add_fields method of the formset, and then extract the data and populate the fields manually on the model instances before saving them. It's straightforward and pretty simple, but it's not very reusable and I don't think it is the right way to do this. My second approach was to create a new field which inherits both MultiValueField and ModelChoiceField, and a corresponding MultiWidget subclass. This seems like the right approach. As Malcolm Tredinnick put it in a django-users discussion, "the 'smarts' of a field lie in the Field class." The problem I'm having is when/where to fetch the lists of choices from the db. The code I have now does it in the Field's __init__, but that means I have to know which ProductGroup I'm dealing with before I can even define the Form class, since I have to instantiate the Field when I define the form. So I have a factory function which I call at the last minute from my view--after I know what CatalogItems I have and which product group they're in--to create form/formset classes and instantiate them. It works, but I wonder if there's a better way. After all, the field should be able to determine the correct choices much later on, once it knows its current value. Another problem is that my implementation limits the entire formset to transactions relating to (CatalogItems from) a single ProductGroup. A third possibility I'm entertaining is to put it all in the Widget class. Once I have the related model instance, or the cid, or whatever the widget is given, I can get the ProductGroup and construct the drop-downs. This would solve the issues with my second approach, but doesn't seem like the right approach.

• How color attributes work in VBO?

  I am coding to OpenGL ES 2.0 (Webgl). I am using VBOs to draw primitives. I have vertex array, color array and array of indices. I have looked at sample codes, books and tutorial, but one thing I don't get - if color is defined per vertex how does it affect the polygonal surfaces adjacent to those vertices? (I am a newbie to OpenGL(ES)) I will explain with an example. I have a cube to draw. From what I read in OpenGLES book, the color is defined as an vertex attribute. In that case, if I want to draw 6 faces of the cube with 6 different colors how should I define the colors. The source of my confusion is: each vertex is common to 3 faces, then how will it help defining a color per vertex? (Or should the color be defined per index?). The fact that we need to subdivide these faces into triangles, makes it harder for me to understand how this relationship works. The same confusion goes for edges. Instead of drawing triangles, let's say I want to draw edges using LINES primitives. Each edge of different color. How am I supposed to define color attributes in that case? I have seen few working examples. Specifically this tutorial: http://learningwebgl.com/blog/?p=370 I see how color array is defined in the above example to draw a cube with 6 different colored faces, but I don't understand why is defined that way. (Why is each color copied 4 times into unpackedColors for instance?) Can someone explain how color attributes work in VBO? • Plotting points so that they do not overlap if they have the same co-ordinates

  Hi everyone, I have a function that takes longitude and latitude and converts it to x and y to be plotted. The conversion to X and Y is working fine and that is not what I have the problem with. I want to ensure that two points are not plotted in the same place. In one set of results there are about 30 on top of each other (because they have the same latitude and longitude), this number could be a lot larger. At the moment I am trying to achieve this by moving points to the left, right, top or bottom of the point to make a square. Once a square made up of points has been drawn, then moving to the next row on and drawing another square of points around the previous square. The code is Javascript but it is very generic so I guess it's slightly irrelevant. • Java: how to do fast copy of a BufferedImage's pixels? (include unit test)

  I want to do a copy (of a rectangle area) of the ARGB values from a source BufferedImage into a destination BufferedImage. No compositing should be done: if I copy a pixel with an ARGB value of 0x8000BE50 (alpha value at 128), then the destination pixel must be exactly 0x8000BE50, totally overriding the destination pixel. I've got a very precise question and I made a unit test to show what I need. The unit test is fully functional and self-contained and is passing fine and is doing precisely what I want. However, I want a faster and more memory efficient method to replace copySrcIntoDstAt(...). That's the whole point of my question: I'm not after how to "fill" the image in a faster way (what I did is just an example to have a unit test). All I want is to know what would be a fast and memory efficient way to do it (ie fast and not creating needless objects). The proof-of-concept implementation I've made is obviously very memory efficient, but it is slow (doing one getRGB and one setRGB for every pixel). I can already do simple apps that perform gesture recognition but am not sure where to hook in the gesture views/obj with an IME. Here is a starting skeleton of what I have for the IME so far. • Debugging EXC_BAD_ACCESS that occurs only on release target for an iPhone app?

  I'm developing an iPhone application. I have an EXC_BAD_ACCESS that occurs only in the release target; when I build the debug target the exception does not occur. However, when I set the NSZombieEnabled environment variable to YES, I still get the EXC_BAD_ACCESS with no further information. Is it even possible for NSZombieEnabled to work when executing the release target? I don't see why not, since gdb is running in both cases... • How can I turn a SimpleXML object to array, then shuffle?

  Crux of my problem: I've got an XML file that returns 20 results. Within these results are all the elements I need to get. Now, I need to return them in a random order, and be able to specifically work with item 1, items 2-5, and items 6-17. Idea 1: Use this script to convert the object to an array, which I can shuffle through. This is close to working, but a few of the elements I need to get are under a different namespace, and I don't seem to be able to get them. • MySQL: Creating table with FK error (errno 150)

  I've tried searching on this error and nothing I've found helps me, so I apologize in advance if this is a duplicate and I'm just too dumb to find it. I've created a model with MySQL Workbench and am now attempting to install it to a mysql server. Using File Export Forward Engineer SQL CREATE Script... it outputs a nice big file for me, with all the settings I ask for. I switch over to MySQL GUI Tools (the Query Browser specifically) and load up this script (note that I'm going form one official MySQL tool to another). However, when I try to actually execute this file, I get the same error over and over SQLSTATE[HY000]: General error: 1005 Can't create table './srs_dev/location.frm' (errno: 150) "OK", I say to myself, something is wrong with the location table. So I check out the definition in the output file. So I start to Google this issue and find all kinds of accounts that talk about an error with InnoDB style tables that fail with foreign keys, and the fix is to add "SET FOREIGN_KEY_CHECKS=0;" to the SQL script. Well, as you can see, that's already part of the file that MySQL Workbench spat out. So, my question is then, why is this not working when I'm doing what I think I'm supposed to be doing? • PHP Image resize - Why is the image uploaded but not resized?

  BACKGROUND I have a script to upload an image. One to keep the original image and one to resize the image. 1. If the image dimensions (width & height) are within max dimensions I use a simple "copy" direct to folder UserPics. 2. If the original dimensions are bigger than max dimensions I want to resize the width and height to be within max. Both of them are uploading the image to the folder, but in case 2, the image will not be resized. QUESTION Is there something wrong with the script? Is there something wrong with the settings?   I'm working on a homework and got stuck. The task is to serve objects using a default servant. But when I try to use the reference, weird things happen. Some part of corba prints a stack trace, but no exception is thrown. The problem happens when the server receives the reference and should call some method on it. The reference is then shortened and doesn't contain the object ID (which means that my servant implementation can't do anything reasonable).   There are lots of suggested fixes for this but none of them work for me. I have tried making the upload class (using the following methods: http://codeigniter.com/forums/viewthread/148605/ and http://codeigniter.com/forums/viewthread/125441/). When i try to upload an mp3 i get the error message "The filetype you are attempting to upload is not allowed". Below is my code for my model and my form (i've got a very skinny controller).   This is driving me NUTS! It's something that I've done 100s of time with a Datagrid. I'm now using a Gridview and I can't figure this out.
