  • Looking for jquery/javascript image rotator controlled by XML file

    I'm trying to find something like this: http://coffeescripter.com/code/ad-gallery/ that is controlled by an xml file that can simply contain the image location, thumbnail location and the text for title/description. Has to be pure jquery or javascript though - no flash based stuff. I've found loads of great components but can't find one that is controlled by XML. Anyone happen to have seen one around anywhere please?

    I've gotten pretty comfortable with Python and now I'm looking to make a rudimentary web application. I was somewhat scared of Django and the other Python frameworks so I went caveman on it and decided to generate the HTML myself using another Python script. Maybe this is how you do it anyways - but I'm just figuring this stuff out. I'm really looking for a tip-off on, well, what to do next. My Python script PRINTS the HTML (is this even correct?     Hi all, how can I set cookies in the middle of a document, without incurring a 'headers already sent' error? What I'm trying to do is make a log out script (the log in cookie setting works...so odd. Is it because it's enclosed in an if statement?) however I've already echoed the page title and some other stuff at the top of the page, before I've made this logout happen. Thanks!

  • Using ImageMagick to create an image from a PDF...efficiently

    I'm using ImageMagick to create a tiny JPG thumbnail image of an already-uploaded PDF. The code works fine. It's a WordPress widget, though this isn't necessarily WordPress specific. I'm unfamiliar with ImageMagick, so I was hoping somebody could tell me if this looks terrible or isn't following some best practices of some sort, or if I'm risking crashing the server. My questions, specifically, are: Is that image cached, or does the server have to re-generate the image every time somebody views the page? If it isn't cached, what's the best way to make sure the server doesn't have to regenerate the thumbnail? I tried to create a separate folder (/thumbs) for ImageMagick to put all the images in, instead of cluttering up the WP upload folders with images of PDFs. It kept throwing a permission error, despite 777 permissions on the folder in my testing environment. Why? Do the source/destination directories have to be the same? Am I doing anything incorrectly/inefficiently here that needs to be improved?   • jquery ui is not scaling text properly!

    I'm trying use jquery ui to scale a div that I'm dragging around to make it easier to see what's behind it, but any text inside it is scaling strangely. The text itself becomes smaller, but it seems to have a bunch of padding around it and is floating now. The text extends past the bottom of the div even though it should be contained properly by the div. I put a red border around the lines of text and the borders are the same size as the original text. I'm not really sure what to do to get this to work... The thing is, i wish to distinguish between the content,title and date for each blog post. I might be able to get the date through regex, but there are so many custom scripts people are using now that the html classes and structure is so different.
