  • Drawing the UIPicker values from multiple components?

    - by Rob
I have the UIPicker setup with multiple components and a button below it. Depending on what the user has chosen with the UIPicker determines which new view will be loaded but I am having trouble determining how to extrapolate the information from the picker itself. Right now I have this method being called when the button is pressed: - (IBAction) buttonPressed { if (component:1 == 1 && component:2 == 1) { //Load the view number 1. } else if (component:1 == 2 && component:2 == 1) { //Load the view number 2. } else { //Load the view number 3. } } I obviously know that my code is wrong but I hope it gets the point across. I have multiple components and I need to figure out how to use the information that the user is scrolling to on the picker to determine which view to move to. (I know how to load the views, I just commented those in the code to illuminate the problem areas better.)

  • Adding an overlay to Google maps with path taken

    - by user341652
Hi, I am trying to write a class to track a person's location(s), and to draw the path they've taken on a MapView. This feature of the program is for the user to track their speed, distance, path, etc. while running/cycling (or whatever else) using their Android phone. This is my first Android application, and I am not sure how to do the Overlay object for the MapView. I also wanted to see if anyone had opinions on the GPS-Tracking part I have written (if it would work, if there is a better way of doing it, code examples would be helpful). I currently have this for my GPSTrackerService: package org.drexel.itrain.logic; import java.util.Vector; import org.drexel.itrain.Constants; import android.app.Notification; import android.app.NotificationManager; import android.app.Service; import android.content.Context; import android.content.Intent; import android.content.SharedPreferences; import android.location.GpsSatellite; import android.location.GpsStatus; This is my group's first Android app, and we are a little pressed for time at the moment. The project is for a class, and is available from SourceForge (currently called iTrain, soon to be renamed). Thanks in Advance, Steve

  • Silence output from SimpleXMLRPCServer

    - by Corey Goldberg
I am running an xml-rpc server using SimpleXMLRPCServer from the stdlib. My code looks something like this: import SimpleXMLRPCServer import socket class RemoteStarter: def start(self): return 'foo' rs = RemoteStarter() host = socket.gethostbyaddr(socket.gethostname())[0] port = 9000 server = SimpleXMLRPCServer.SimpleXMLRPCServer((host, port)) server.register_instance(rs) server.serve_forever() every time the 'start' method gets called remotely, the server prints an access line like this: <server_name> - - [10/Mar/2010 13:06:20] "POST /RPC2 HTTP/1.0" 200 - I can't figure out a way to silence the output so it doesn't print these access lines to stdout. anyone?

  • Balanced File Distribution from server to client

    - by Abhinav
To design a client-server code in LINUX where server will send the file equally to its entire client connected(all not at a time). Suppose 15 files are there, client1 makes a connection, server starts sending files to it. After 4 files a new connection comes the first client gets halted (not terminated) and client2 start getting the file. After 2 files another connection comes. Server starts sending file to client3. after sending 3[2(client2)+1] files, server resumes client2.then client2 & client3 goes on till file count reaches 4.then client1 wakeup & remaining 3 files are transferred to each 3 clients. File's name are pre written in a file from where server reads it(not a big deal)

  • Java - JTable multiple instances

    - by Brian
I have a JTable that gets data added to it from another JTable. Now I want to switch between JTables according to the day selected in a JComboBox. For example, if I choose Monday I add programs added to it then I select Tuesday from the JComboBox and a fresh JTable appears. If I go to Monday again the programs should still be there (until the program is closed). How do I create multiple JTables (the JTable remains the same) for the days and let the info remain there until program closure? Here is an example to show you what I mean:

  • How to add line breaks in RSS feeds?

    - by Candidasa
I'm building my own custom RSS feed in PHP. I want the tag to contain line breaks to make the text more readable. However, I can't seem to figure out how to do it correctly. No matter what I try some RSS reader interprets it incorrectly. Is there some standard best way to add a line-break in and RSS 2.0 feed? I have tried "\n", which works in NetNewsWire on the Mac, but gets ignored by the built-in Safari browser's RSS reader. I have tried <br />, which works in the Safari RSS reader, but results in all the text after the being cut off in NetNewsWire.

  • While loop in IL - why stloc.0 and ldloc.0?

    - by Michael Stum
I'm trying to understand how a while loop looks in IL. I have written this C# function: static void Brackets() { while (memory[pointer] > 0) { // Snipped body of the while loop, as it's not important } } The IL looks like this: .method private hidebysig static void Brackets() cil managed { // Code size 37 (0x25) .maxstack 2 .locals init ([0] bool CS$4$0000) IL_0000: nop IL_0001: br.s IL_0012 IL_0003: nop // Snipped body of the while loop, as it's not important IL_0011: nop IL_0012: ldsfld uint8[] BFHelloWorldCSharp.Program::memory IL_0017: ldsfld int16 BFHelloWorldCSharp.Program::pointer IL_001c: ldelem.u1 IL_001d: ldc.i4.0 IL_001e: cgt IL_0020: stloc.0 IL_0021: ldloc.0 IL_0022: brtrue.s IL_0003 IL_0024: ret } // end of method Program::Brackets For the most part this is really simple, except for the part after cgt. What I don't understand is the local [0] and the stloc.0/ldloc.0. As far as I see it, cgt pushes the result to the stack, stloc.0 gets the result from the stack into the local variable, ldloc.0 pushes the result to the stack again and brtrue.s reads from the stack. What is the purpose of doing this? Couldn't this be shortened to just cgt followed by brtrue.s?

  • c# HTTPListener encoding issue

    - by Rob Griffin
I have a Java application sending HTTP requests to a C# application. The C# app uses HTTPListener to listen for requests and respond. On the Java side I'm encoding the URL using UTF-8. When I send a \ character it gets encoded as %5C as expected but on the C# side it becomes a / character. The encoding for the request object is Windows-1252 which I think may be causing the problem. How do I set the default encoding to UTF-8? Currently I'm doing this to convert the encoding: foreach (string key in request.QueryString.Keys) { if (key != null) { byte[] sourceBytes =request.ContentEncoding.GetBytes(request.QueryString[key]); string value = Encoding.UTF8.GetString(sourceBytes)); } } This handles the non ASCII characters I'm also sending but doesn't fix the slash problem. Examining request.QueryString[key] in the debugger shows that the / is already there.

  • SQL Server: One large persisted computed column for Fulltext Indexing

    - by Alex
It appears to me as the easiest, most straightforward solution, but please correct me if I'm wrong. Instead of having a fulltext index on all individual columns of a table, isn't it better to just generate one single wide computed column and run the fulltext index against that only? It appears to me that it gets rid of all the issues of having multiple columns, incl. that I can't search "x AND y" as this will not match a row with "x" present in column 1 and "y" present in column 2. Any counterarguments?

  • Blackberry JDE generating bad .jad file (does not match compiled .cod file)

    - by matkas
I Have a BB application that gets compiled into 3 siblings cod file. ( actualy one cod fil contaning 3 sub cod files). app.cod |--app.cod |--app-1.cod |--app-2.cod which is normal. the jad refers to those 3 inner .cod files. Now I have add some feature to my app, it is getting a little bit bigger. the jad now refers to 4 inner .cod files. but there is still 3 inside the app.cod that is generated. so I now still have app.cod |--app.cod |--app-1.cod |--app-2.cod but with the jad refering to app.cod app-1.cod app-2.cod AND app-3.cod. what is wrong the my compiled program? is it a bug from the JDE? I am using JDE 4.5.

  • jQuery Custom Gallery and jCarousel problem

    - by steve
Active site can be seen here: http://www.studioimbrue.com/index2.php There are currently two small problems with the coding. First: when the page loads and you attempt to click on one of the large images to advance, nothing happens. Once a thumbnail is clicked, the click functionality of the large image comes available. I'm trying to fix it so when the page loads, the user can just start clicking the large image. Second: when an image is clicked, the thumbnail highlight changes. The only problem there is once it gets past 4, the "current" thumbnail needs to be seen, thus the carousel should go to that one. Right now the code for that is nextThumb.closest('.thumbscontainer').jcarousel('next'); but that makes it scroll every time you click. Thanks for any help

  • Unable to resolve user environment variable correctly

    - by Junaid
I am trying to resolve %USERPROFILE% using WScript.Shell. When I create a vbs file and run directly from Windows, I get the correct path for the logged-in user C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator but it gets resolved to C:\Documents and Settings\Default User instead of logged-in user when I used it inside my classic ASP webapp running on the local machine on IIS. The code I used is as below var oShell = new ActiveXObject("Wscript.Shell"); var userPath = oShell.ExpandEnvironmentStrings("%USERPROFILE%"); Is there a permission/setting which I need to check to get correct value of USERPROFILE when retrieving value from the webapp? PS: I am using javascript to code.

Also, I would like to ignore this rule for certain paths. Here is what I was trying and wasn't having success: RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^(admin) RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^(node) RewriteRule ^/(.*)/$ $1/index.htm [L] Here is how the app is outlined. It is actually a subdirectory within an application as the site is in transition at the moment. ParentApp/ /folder/ /folder/ /Drupal/ /(new application here) /... /...

  • Are C++ meta-templates required knowledge for programmers?

    - by Robert Gould
In my experience Meta-templates are really fun (when your compilers are compliant), and can give good performance boosts, and luckily I'm surrounded by seasoned C++ programmers that also grok meta-templates, however occasionally a new developer arrives and can't make heads or tails of some of the meta-template tricks we use (mostly Andrei Alenxandrescu stuff), for a few weeks until he gets initiated appropriately. So I was wondering what's the situation for other C++ programmers out there? Should meta-template programming be something C++ programmers should be "required" to know (excluding entry level students of course), or not? Edit: Note my question is related to production code and not little samples or prototypes

  • Multiple records with one request in RESTful system

    - by keithjgrant
All the examples I've seen regarding a RESTful architecture have dealt with a single record. For example, a GET request to mydomain.com/foo/53 to get foo 53 or a POST to mydomain.com/foo to create a new Foo. But what about multiple records? Being able to request a series of Foos by id or post an array of new Foos generally would be more efficient with a single API request rather than dozens of individual requests. Would you "overload" mydomain.com/foo to handle requests for both a single or multiple records? Or would you add a mydomain.com/foo-multiple to handle plural POSTs and GETs? I'm designing a system that may potentially need to get many records at once (something akin to mydomain.com/foo/53,54,66,86,87) But since I haven't seen any examples of this, I'm wondering if there's something I'm just not getting about a RESTful architecture that makes this approach "wrong".

  • WaitForSingleObject( )

    - by Rakesh Agarwal
I have got myself stuck into a really amazing issue here. The code is like as below. class A { public: A(){ m_event = CreateEvent(NULL, false, false, NULL); // create an event with initial value as non-signalled m_thread = _beginthread(StaticThreadEntry, 0, this); // create a thread } static void StaticThreadEntry(A * obj) { obj->ThreadEntry(); } void ThreadEntry(); }; void A::ThreadEntry() { WaitforSingleObject(m_event,INFINITE); } int main() { A a; SetEvent(m_event); // sets the event to signalled state which causes the running thread to terminate WaitForSingleObject(m_thread, INFINITE); // waits for the thread to terminate return 0; } Problem : When the above code is run, sometimes( 1 out of 5 ) it hangs and the control gets stuck in the call to WaitforSingleObject()( inside the main function ).The code always calls SetEvent() function to ensure that the thread would terminate before calling Wait() function. I do not see any reason why it should ever hang?

  • NSZombieEnabled hides EXC_BAD_ACCESS error entirely

    - by David Liu
So I have a subclass of a UIView that starts causing EXC_BAD_ACCESS errors when I go through a specific set of conditions (run on iPad instead of iPhone or simulator, first login only). It throws the exception when the UIView subclass gets deallocated, during the last line, where I have [super dealloc]. I heard about using NSZombieEnabled, so I tossed that on to see if I could get any more information about it, but now it hides the error completely! Does anyone know a bit more about this type of situation? I thought NSZombie would start spewing stuff into my console like before, but I'm hoping that the nonexistance of errors would tell me some sort of information as well.

  • How do I design a cryptographic hash function?

    - by Eyal
After reading the following about why one-way hash functions are one-way, I would like to know how to design a hash function. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1038307/help-me-better-understand-cryptographic-hash-functions/1047106#1047106 Before everyone gets on my case: Yes, I know that it's a bad idea to not use a proven and tested hash function. I would still like to know how it's done. I'm familiar with Feistel-network ciphers but those are necessarily reversible, horrible for a cryptographic hash. Is there some sort of construction that is well-used in cryptographic hashing? Something that makes it very one-way?

  • Do i *have* to use ObservableCollection in Silverlight WCF client?

    - by Simon_Weaver
When accessing Silverlight in WCF you get proxies generated with ObservableCollection Thats fine when you're databinding, but a little clumsy when you're just calling a method. For instance the following service method : [OperationContract] public SearchOrdersMsgOut SearchOrders(ShippingStatusType[] shippingStatuses, string[] orderId) { } gets generated with ObservableCollection. What! They're just parameters. Why would I ever want to 'observe' them? I'm fine if I have to do this - but it seems like there should be a way to force simple array structures when I know I'm never databinding - especially on input messages. I'd much rather do this : searchCriteria.PaymentStatus = new [] { PaymentStatusType.PaymentFailed, PaymentStatusType.Unpaid }; than this : searchCriteria.PaymentStatus = new ObservableCollection<PaymentStatusType> { PaymentStatusType.PaymentFailed, PaymentStatusType.Unpaid }; Is there a way? PS. I do actually use a SearchCriteria object for my search criteria - but I simplified for this example wondering if parameters were handled differently.

  • Spring 3 MVC - how to turn a form into a query string?

    - by caerphilly
I have a simple Spring form that gets bound to a form object on post. The http POST handler does some work, and then needs to redirect to a new URL, passing the form data as querystring parameters. So, assuming I have a form backing object with properties "param1" and "param2", I want to build a string that looks something like this: redirect:/app/new/page?param1=value;param2=value Now, Spring will automatically bind values FROM a querystring or a form post into my form object, but I want to GENERATE a querystring with values taken from the form object. Obviously it's trivial to do this manually but since I'm going to have lots of different form backing objects, is there some built-in facility in Spring to generate a query string from a form object, suitable for building into a URL? Thanks.

  • Passing hash as values in hidden_field_tag

    - by funkymunky
I am trying to pass some filters in my params through a form like so: hidden_field_tag "filters", params[:filters] For some reason the params get changed in the next page. For example, if params[:filters] used to be... "filters"={"name_like_any"=["apple"]} [1] ...it gets changed to... "filters"="{\"name_like_any\"=[\"apple\"]}" [2] note the extra quotations and backslashes in [2] when compared to [1]. Any ideas? I'm attempting to use this with searchlogic for some filtering, but I need it to persist when I change change objects in forms. I would prefer not to have to store it in session.

  • source control when starting up a new project

    - by jaras
when starting with a project and using source control i find it hard to separate the things people are working on so they don't either write duplicate code or think it should be named one thing and so on. this problem diminishes over time because the general foundation is in place and it's easier to separate the tasks so they don't overlap as much how do you manage working with source control in the beginning phase? EDIT: I can see that it don't really have anything to do with source control, but it gets more apparent when you have source control too. so the question becomes more along the lines of "how do you manage to separate the tasks so they don't overlap too much. I think it's really hard and i haven't really seen much about how to do it.

  • convert HTML to PDF with dynamic image using PD4ML

    - by vishwanath
We are using PD4ML library to convert HTML to PDF. Is there any way with which I can include a image from the internet in my HTML to convert it into PDF. I am having problem in getting the image into PDF. I tried using base parameter in the PD4ML library but that didn't worked out. May be I am doing something wrong or PD4ML doesn't support including image from the internet. Because when I discussed my problem with other colleagues, found out that when we use the image from local server it gets to the PDF but image from internet don't. I am bound to use PD4ML, so solution with PD4ML only will be highly appreciated.

  • Do not compile t4 file

    - by brian b
Suddenly, after doing a TFS 2010 get, Visual Studio 2010 is attempting to compile my .tt file as if it was c#. Moreover, anytime I set it to "Build Action=None", Build Action gets mysteriously reset to Compile. This is breaking our builds on the desktop. I can get builds to work on the desktop by closing then reopening VS. Our builds on TFS are totally broken because of this. What to do? The template generates a (totally ok) c# file, so I need the project to build. I tried changing the file extension from .tt to .donotbuilddammit but that had no effect.
