    I downloaded the XAMPP .run file from Apacheandfriends but the installation isn't working for me.     I just installed Ubuntu 12.10 on my DELL Latitude E6230, on first boot wifi worked properly but when I updated the software it stopped working. I can't figure out the problem... The wireless network controller is a Broadcom Corporation BCM4313 802.11b/g/n Wireless Lan Controller (rev 01) "lshw -class network" gives, for the above controller: *-network UNCLAIMED description: Network controller product: BCM4313 802.11b/g/n Wireless LAN Controller vendor: Broadcom Corporation physical id: 0 bus info: pci@0000:02:00.0 version: 01 width: 64 bits clock: 33MHz capabilities: pm msi pciexpress bus_master cap_list configuration: latency=0 resources: memory:f7d00000-f7d03fff After reading the answer to another similar question, I edited the file NetworkManager.conf to make "managed=true", but that did not make any difference, it is as if the wireless adapter were not there. In the "Network" setting window, I only see "Wired" and "Network proxy". Wireless has just disappeared: rfkill list all 0: hci0: Bluetooth Soft blocked: no Hard blocked: no and that's it! Nothing about the wireless controller... Any suggestions?

  • Cron job running successfully suddenly reports script is not found

    What might cause cron to suddenly report a file it is supposed to run is "not found," when the file hasn't been touched, and in fact, the entire system hasn't been touched since it last ran successfully? I have a cronjob schedule I define by doing sudo crontab -e In it, I have dozens of cron jobs that run successfully.. I do not have a PATH specified, and I use absolute paths to call all my scheduled scripts, setting the PATH in them as needed. I do not specify a SHELL in the crontab. All scripts identify the shell as their first line. Without me touching the system, a particular job defined in the middle of other jobs will suddenly stop running. To debug this, I added an output redirection to a log file. In that, the output clearly shows the output of the script successfully running time after time for weeks, and then suddenly the following appears: /bin/sh: /home/iupress/bin/sync-email_images: not found /bin/sh: /home/iupress/bin/sync-email_images: not found /bin/sh: /home/iupress/bin/sync-email_images: not found /bin/sh: /home/iupress/bin/sync-email_images: not found /bin/sh: /home/iupress/bin/sync-email_images: not found /bin/sh: /home/iupress/bin/sync-email_images: not found /bin/sh: /home/iupress/bin/sync-email_images: not found /bin/sh: /home/iupress/bin/sync-email_images: not found /bin/sh: /home/iupress/bin/sync-email_images: not found If I do the ls command, copying and pasting that exact path from the error message, it clearly reports the file is still there (no surprise). Yet the log continues to report that file is "not found" until I take action. I can run the script manually and it runs just fine. If I do sudo crontab -e and save the file, the job runs on the next scheduled time, putting its output in the log, no longer reporting the script is "not found". It seems to me the contents of the script trying to be run are irrelevant since cron doesn't even process the file because it is "not found". I have a job scheduled below the one that is encountering this problem that I know is continuing to run, because I have its output mailed to me. So I know cron is running and continues to run at least one other job, even after it suddenly reports this job's script is "not found". All my lines end with a newline. I had no periods in the crontab until I added the redirection to a log file. I have now added a PATH specification, but left the absolute paths in the jobs. Unfortunately, I have no idea if and when this problem will occur. It will likely be weeks from now. By the way, I am running a script to syncronize the clock, and I see the time is exactly what it should be.

    I had 4 accounts on UBuntu 11.10. The /home folder is in a separate partition. Now, after I reinstalled Ubuntu 12.04 beta 2, I manually created the remaining 3 usernames so that it can use the existing home locations. However, after creating the users i found that the usernames have got mapped to the other home folders. For example user A got mapped to home folder of user B User B got mapped to home folder of user C User C got mapped to home folder of user A How do I change this so that the users get mapped to their correct account.

    I just started to experiment with LXC containers. I was able to create a container and start it up but I cannot get dhcp to assign the container an IP address. If I assign a static address the container can ping the host IP but not outside the host IP. The host is CentOS 6.5 and the guest is Ubuntu 14.04LTS. I used the template downloaded by lxc-create -t download -n cn-01 command. If I am trying to get an IP address on the same subnet as the host I don't believe I should need the IP tables rule for masquerading but I added it anyways. Same with IP forwarding.   • How to run Virtualbox on bridged and host-only networks?

    I wish to run VirtualBox with my Ubuntu laptop on the home network (so the desktop PC can access it through the router) and also be able to ssh into the VirtualBox from host on the go (different network or with no internet). Previously, the only network adapter on the VB instance was a 'bridged connection' adapter. This allowed me to access the internet on the guest VB and for the other computers on the LAN + host to access it. However, whenever I took my laptop off the network, I could no longer access the guest from host. I read that I needed to enable a host-only adapter to access it off the network and a NAT adapter is used to access the internet from guest. My question is can I run a host-only adapter + a NAT adapter alongside a bridged network adapter in VirtualBox? I am confused what I would put inside /etc/hosts? Would I put both IP's (host-only and bridged) with the same servername in /etc/hosts?

  • SimpleXMLElement (PHP) throwing error on XML root attributes

    I am working on a project that will take XML data submitted through a textarea input in a form then extract the data and throw it into a database. I am getting errors about the attribute in the root field of my XML (it is the same schema each time, but with different values).     From Android widget screen guidelines, http://developer.android.com/guide/practices/ui_guidelines/widget_design.html, we know that, home screen has 4*4 cells, and in portrait orientation, each cell is 80 pixels wide by 100 pixels tall. I think these are for baseline HVGA screen. How about for large screens and hdpi screens, do they still have 4*4 cells for widget and each cell in portrait orientation is still 80 pixels * 100 pixels? Thanks.

  • Why is YAML installing to my home directory instead of its proper directory?

    I keep getting the following error when installing Ruby 1.9.3-p125: It seems your ruby installation is missing psych (for YAML output). To eliminate this warning, please install libyaml and reinstall your ruby. I've tried installing LibYAML and for some reason it's installing in my home directory on OS X Lion where the Documents, Music, Pictures, etc. folders are. Any idea how I can get rid of this error, properly install YAML and never have to deal with this again?

When i want to request this variable in my home.ctp, it provides me with an error, saying that the variable is undefined.. Is there any way in cakePHP to request this variable on any page you want it to? Thnx in advance!

  • How to serve static files for multiple Django projects via nginx to same domain

    I am trying to setup my nginx conf so that I can serve the relevant files for my multiple Django projects. Ultimately I want each app to be available at www.example.com/app1, www.example.com/app2 etc. They all serve static files from a 'static-files' directory located in their respective project root. The project structure: Home Ubuntu Web www.example.com ref logs app app1 app1 static bower_components templatetags app1_project templates static-files app2 app2 static templates templatetags app2_project static-files app3 tests templates static-files static app3_project app3 venv When I use the conf below, there are no problems for serving the static-files for the app that I designate in the /static/ location. I can also access the different apps found at their locations. However, I cannot figure out how to serve all of the static files for all the apps at the same time. I have looked into using the 'try_files' command for the static location, but cannot figure out how to see if it is working or not. Or am I totally off base on this and I need to put each app in a subdomain instead of going this route?     Hi. When I synchronize two folders using Unison, only one of the roots seems to be affected. Below are all the information I would think is necessary to figure out why it is working like it is.   • How do I connect my Windows XP laptop to the internet?

    Hello fellow super users, The Past I have a Acer Travelmate 2300 laptop running Windows XP. 6 months ago I moved into a new apartment and got a new internet connection set up. After getting an internet connection installed in my apartment I reinstalled Windows XP and at the same time wiped my drive clean losing all the original Acer software and drivers. Once XP was reinstalled I had to find all the drivers again to get the Travelmate laptop connected to the internet. So, using my Vista laptop which was connected fine, I went to the Acer Travelmate Series drivers download page to download the necessary drivers. I transferred them to my Acer XP machine and installed them the best I could (there were no easy instructions so I just had to find all the executables and run them). I eventually got connected to the internet but not exactly in the way I had hoped for. The Present To be connected to the internet I need to have an Ethernet cord connecting my computer (via the Ethernet port) to my router. This is a problem since it defeats the purpose of having a Wireless LAN card in my Acer laptop. One of the programs I downloaded from the Acer Travelmate Series page was the Acer Wireless LAN Configuration Utility. This program allows me to see the current network I am connected to and all the available networks I could potentially connect to. It reminds me of XP's Wireless Network Connection window/utility where you can see all available wireless networks, refresh the network list and connect to one of the networks. I should mention that my ISP set up a security enabled wireless network with WPA. This network requires a network key if you want to connect to it. I guess my Vista computer has the network key entered into it already. The problem is that I do not know what the network key is. Now obviously you would say just contact my ISP to get the key. And I will but there is just one extra weird issue. I am able to connect to another unsecured wireless network in the Wireless Network Connection window/utility. I can be on it as long as my Ethernet cable is plugged in. So this is not really wireless is it? And this indicates that even if I do get that network key password from my ISP, I will only solve one of the two problems I have. I will only solve being able to get online as long as I am connected to my router via the Ethernet cable. The Main Questions So how do I enable my acer IPN2220 Wireless LAN Card so that I can use my Acer laptop from anywhere with in my apartment? Or should I first get the network key from my ISP to access my security enabled wireless network? And then deal with getting the acer IPN2220 Wireless LAN Card working? Hard & Learned VS Easy & Stupid Of course contacting the ISP would be easier. Have em just come in here and do there thing. The problem with that is that they do not speak English (yeah, im in Poland) and it'd be a hell of a time trying to understand what they are doing (uncomfortable looking over their shoulder). Also, I want to learn how to do this task myself so that I can fix the problem if it ever happens again. You know, be more self sufficient. I look forward to helpful replies. Thanks, Xaviour
