    I have a Java project I'd like to commit to my SVN repository, created with eclipse. Now, what files (aside from the source code, obviously) are necessary? In the workspace root, there is a .settings folder with many files and subfolders, and inside the project folder there are two files - .classpath and .project, and another .settings folder with a single file - org.eclipse.jdt.core.prefs. Which of these files should be committed to SVN and which can be safely excluded?

    I was reading http://www.kernel.org/pub/software/scm/git/docs/gitignore.html and the 6 points used to explain the ignore patterns seem to be describing a custom variant of a glob search syntax. I am more familiar with Mercurial, which allows to explicitly ignore via glob or regex patterns, no questions asked. Is there anything similar functionality in Git?     Simple question, I think. I have org.springframework.scheduling.quartz.CronTriggerBean triggering one job once a day. Because this method can last a long time (over 24 hours), will the next day at the same time a new job be executed if the last one is not ended yet? If yes - is it possible to turn off executing new jobs until the last one is finished? My method is trans-coding videos and some days there a lot of videos and could last long.

  • Detecting when a handler couldn't be started when embedding Jetty

    I'm embedding Jetty in a similar manner as described here. When the RequestLogHandler can't open the specified logfile, it throws an exception which is unfortunately caught by org.eclipse.jetty.server.Server and swallowed (but logged first, at least). This means that there's no obvious way for me to tell if the log handler was started correctly. Is there a way that I'm missing to detect when a handler couldn't start?

    I am new to windows C/C++ programming. I am trying to get a binary program (.exe) to run which needs VTK library. I have installed VTK from http://vtk.org/VTK/resources/software.html on 64-bit windows 7. When I run the binary program, it generates an error in a window saying that "vtkCommon.dll is missing from your computer". Should I add the folder in which VTK has been installed to the windows PATH?

This project was never popular, had only two active days with commits at Google Code and is dead since then. With other words: the project is irrelevant but the name is in use at Google Code and ohloh (the same dead project). The .org domain is available. Would it be ok to reuse this project name?
