I know about headers but a lot of the clients gone use this do not got the proper developing team to do code. thanks

• What privileges do I need?

  I have a Windows service that isn't writing to the Application Event log under UserAccount. When the service is set to use AdminAccount, the Security log reports the following attributes: Under UserAccount, the only privilege reported is SeImpersonatePrivilege. Is there a security impersonation that I can implement to give the UserAccount the ability to write to the Application Event log? I would prefer to use the UserAccount for this service rather than the AdminAccount.

• PHPMailer, fsockopen(), possible Apache issue?

  I'm using PHPMailer to send out site contacts. In development, the script works perfectly with the GMail service over smtp. However, in production, inside the client's DMZ, it appears unable to connect to the SMTP service they have there. I have connected to the same service using telnet to port 25, so I know for sure it exists and is available to the server. Are there any circumstances where php might not be able to open a socket connection (fsockopen)...? The php extension openssl is loaded and ok. The error is "Unable to connect to SMTP service". That problem is in order to get data access I need to configure a connection string, but that connection string must be configurable in a production environment, I meant in production I am going to deploy the site, which is a very simple project that contains only a reference WCF Service Library Project then a guy from database department will configure the connection string. In development I have an app.config on the data access project but when I do the release that app.config is embedded on the dll. Any ideas how can we achieve our purpose

• Bi-directional WCF Client-Server Communication

  I have been working for weeks on creating a client/server to control a music-server application located on the server-side that is controlled by several client apps located across the LAN. I've been successful in getting the client-side to communicate with the Server, sending commands to operate the music-server, and through the use of callbacks, reply to the clients so that all of the client UI's can be appropriately updated. My problem is however, that I unable to figure-out how to broadcast other messages that need to be sent from the server app to the clients. I was hoping to utilize the callback method; however I have not been able to access it from the server side. Do I need to modify or create another contract that provides for communication from the server to the clients? Does the binding require modification? As I mentioned earlier, I have truly been working on this for weeks (which is beginning to feel like 'years'), and hope to get this last piece of the application working. Would someone please steer me in the right direction? • WCF: parameters handled in custom channel not present in generated WSDL.

  I have some special parameters to all my wcf service methods that are handled inside a custom channel and are not exposed in the service method parameter list. This works fine for json/xml endpoints, but the I don't know how to use a SOAP endpoint with this setup because the generated WSDL doesn't include fields that are not in the service call parameter list. Is there a way I can centralize the handling of the special parameters that apply to all service methods (authentication, locale and other contextual information) and provide a SOAP endpoint that Just Works (tm)? Hand editing wsdl files is not an option.

• Where do interfaces belong in a multitier application

  So say you have a three tier application with the tiers UI, Services, and Repository for a simple application, let's say saving addresses. If AddressService has an interface IAddressService, where does that interface belong? I know that "in the address service" may seem like an obvious answer, but if it's in the address service it would seem to defeat the point of having the interface such that any service library could be swapped in as long as it implemented IAddressService. (specifically this is in a .net problem space, but it's probably more general so it's tagged architecture)

• Where do DQL statements live in an application that is using Zend Framework and Doctrine

  In an application that is using Zend Framework 1.10 and Doctrine 1.2, where should the DQL statements live if our application is built such that it has a Service Layer and a Gateway(aka Doctrine_Table) layer. It seems that our possibilities include: 1) Placing the DQL statements in the Service layer which seems to be a bit too high in our application hierarchy to store DQL. 2) Placing the DQL statements within each model's Table/Gateway which seems a bit redundant because we also need to expose the DQL statements that do things such as getAllUsers() through the Service layer. Which of these is a preferable design? We intend to make use of the Service layer as much as possible so that other projects might consume various parts of our application.

  In my iPhone app, I'm publishing a bonjour service and using the following delegate method: - (void)netServiceDidPublish:(NSNetService *)ns { NSLog(@"Bonjour Service Published: http://%@.%@", [ns name], [ns domain]); } The "name" property is returning the device name, "How's Testing", which is correct. However, when I use Safari to discover available services the name is "hows-testing" -- the service is http://hows-testing.local.:. Why is the published name different than what is being reported by the NSNetService? How do I display for the actual name of the published service? Assuming that, for some reason, there is no way to get the published name from the object, how do I determine it myself? I understand that it's based on device name, but what are the substitution rules? Remove apostrophes, replace spaces with dash...anything else? What about special characters?

• sshd running but no PID file

  I'm recently started using monit to monitor the status of sshd on my CentOS 5.4 server. This works fine, but every so often monit reports that sshd is no longer running. This isn't true - I am still able to login to the server via ssh, however I note the following: There is no longer any PID file at /var/run/sshd.pid - after a reboot this file exists. Once it is gone, restarting sshd via service sshd restart does not create the PID file. sudo service sshd status reports openssh-daemon is stopped - again, restarting sshd does not change this, but a reboot does. sudo service sshd stop reports failed, presumably because of the missing PID file. Any idea what is going on? Update sudo netstat -lptun gives the following output relating to port 22 tcp 0 0 :::22 :::* LISTEN 20735/sshd Killing the process with this PID as suggested by @Henry and then starting sshd via service results in service sshd status recognising the process by PID again. Would still like to understand this better. RPM verify suggested by a couple of answerers shows this: sudo rpm -vV openssh openssh-server openssh-clients | grep 'S\.5' S.5....T c /etc/pam.d/sshd S.5....T c /etc/ssh/sshd_config /etc/pam.d/sshd has the following contents: #%PAM-1.0 auth include system-auth account required pam_nologin.so account include system-auth password include system-auth session optional pam_keyinit.so force revoke session include system-auth #session required pam_loginuid.so Should that last line be commented out? I am looking for the best pattern to call WCF service method Should I create the client proxy instance every time I call the service method and close the client as soon as I am done with that? When I profiled my client application, I could see that it is taking lot of time to get the Channel while initializing the proxy client Should I use a Singleton pattern for the client proxy so that I can use the only once instance and get rid of the re-initializing overhead? Is there any hidden problem with this approach? I am using .Net framework 3.5 SP1, basicHttp binding with little customization.

• Js/Jquery bind Datatable or Datalist

  Scenario I have a input box for post codes. When you put in a postcode it makes a call to a web service and gets all the suburb names back and binds them to a list, like an input dropdown list. This works when I return a List<string> from the web service for just the names. No problem. The problem arises when I go to save the values to the db. When it gets saved I cannot save the name of the suburb in the suburb column in the db. I have to save the id of that suburb for the foreign key constraint. So then I changed the List<> thing slighty and cheated and returned the following. <ArrayOfString> <string>8213</string> <string>BROOKFIELD</string> <string>8214</string> <string>CHAPEL HILL</string> <string>8215</string> <string>FIG TREE POCKET</string> etc.... The reason for this is so I can have the value of the item in the drop down as the id and hence can save that in the code behind on save. To do this, I did the following: $(result).each(function (index, value) { var suburbname; var pattern = new RegExp('[0-9*]'); var m = pattern.exec(value); if (m == null) { suburbname = value var o = new Option(suburbname, suburbid); /// jquerify the DOM object 'o' so we can use the html method $(o).html(suburbname); $(document.getElementById('<%= suburb.ClientID %>')).append($("<option></option>") .attr("value", suburbid) .text(suburbname)); } else { suburbid = value } That works as well... the drop down only has name and the value for those is the number The problem....? I am making assumptions above which I don't like... I.e. that the name never has a number it, that the web service will always return the id first to set the id before running the add to the dropdown for the first time. It just feels wrong.... :S (thoughts?) So, if I change the web service to return a datatable, to out the following (which is what the whole query returns): <Suburbs diffgr:id="Suburbs1" msdata:rowOrder="0"> <SuburbID>8213</SuburbID> <SuburbName>BROOKFIELD</SuburbName> <StateID>4</StateID> <StateCode>07</StateCode> <CountryCode>61</CountryCode> <TimeZones>10.00</TimeZones> <Postcode>4069</Postcode> </Suburbs> Is there a way of acheiving the same as above in js/jquery. So when the user inputs the postcode the webservice returns the datatable and then binds it to the select with the SuburbID going into the value and the name going into the text??? Any other ways I could return the data from the web service to solve this? Note: essentially I need the option to look like this: <option value="8213">BROOKFIELD</option> I also thought I could make a second call to get just the id on the bind of the text... but I kind of want to only make one call....   Windows 7 computer running SQL Server Express 2008 (sp1). When I try to run net start mssql$sqlexpress I receive an error: System error 5 has occurred. Access is denied The SQL service is running under "Network Service" account The service starts fine if I use the services window. Could somebody help me figure out why I am receiving this error?

  I have been using WCF for a few years now and am fairly comfortable with it, however there is one simple WCF concept that I have yet to employ and am having difficulties with it. Following this article about WCF addressing as it specifically relates to multiple endpoints in IIS I see these two excerpts: "Suppose you have a file named calc.svc and you place it in a virtual directory that corresponds to (http://localhost:8080/calcservice). The base address for this service will be (http://localhost:8080/calcservice/calc.svc)." and "Now, consider the endpoint configuration found in the virtual directory’s web.config file (in Figure 3). In this case, the address of the first endpoint becomes the same as the base address (http://localhost:8080/calcservice/calc.svc) since I left the endpoint address empty. The address of the second endpoint becomes the combination of the base address appended with "secure", like this: (http://localhost:8080/calcservice/calc.svc/secure)." Now in my application I'm trying to create two endpoints for the same service (shown below). The service name is MainService.svc. For endpoint one I have address="" and endpoint two has address="Soap11". Bringing the site up in IIS I can successfully hit this URL: (https://localhost:444/MainService.svc). This is the base address for the service according to all the documentation I can find. According to this article and others I have seen that confirm its information I should have the second endpoint at (https://localhost:444/MainService.svc/Soap11) but if I navigate to that URL I get a .Net exception indicating the resource is not found. Is there a tool I can use to see where my different endpoints will be available? Maybe some IIS or aspnet_isapi.dll logging I can turn on? My web.config section defining my endpoints follows. • Error calling webservice from JQuery

  I have a strange problem when I'm trying to call a simple webservice method from Jquery. Locally it works fine, but on my test-server it does not. The jquery request looks like this (only showing the actual request and not the rest of the method): $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "/Service/Service.asmx/AddTab", data: "tab=" + element.innerHTML, success: function(msg) { alert('success'); } }); When I run this locally from the test-server it works fine, which has me wondering if it could be some setting that I've missed in the IIS. If I navigate to the .asmx file and click the AddTab method I get a list of SOAP 1.1 and SOAP 1.2 XML, but not the HTTP POST request. If I navigate to it locally I get all three (SOAP 1.1, SOAP 1.2 and HTTP Post) The service is set up as follows: [WebService(Namespace = "mynamespace")] [WebServiceBinding(ConformsTo = WsiProfiles.BasicProfile1_1)] [System.ComponentModel.ToolboxItem(false)] [ScriptService()] public class Service : System.Web.Services.WebService { [WebMethod(EnableSession=true)] [ScriptMethod()] public void AddTab(string tab) { //Some code to add a tab which evidently works locally... } } Anyone have a clue what I'm missing here?

  I have a WCF service hosted in a web application (IIS). I need to expose 1 end point over wsHttp and the other over netTcp. I am on a IIS7 environment that makes it possible for me to host non HTTP based services. Anyways, when I browse the .svc file using a browser, I get the error: The service cannot be activated because it does not support ASP.NET compatibility. ASP.NET compatibility is enabled for this application By googling, I realized that WCF runs in two modes - Mixed and ASP.NET compatible. When I apply the attribute [AspNetCompatibilityRequirements(RequirementsMode = AspNetCompatibilityRequirementsMode.Allowed)] However, it appears that once I apply this attribute to the Service Contract implementation, I cannot use a non HTTP binding. How do I set it up so that: I can support non HTTP endpoints I can host the service on a Web app I don't create multiple services one with aspnet compatibility turned on and the other turned off
