  I have two servlet: first servlet is similar to a client and creates an HttpURLConnection to call the second servlet. I would like send a special error, formatted like a JSON object, so I call sendError method in this way: response.sendError(code, "{json-object}") But in the first servlet when I read error with getResponseMessage method I just get standard HTTP message and not my json object as a string. How I can get my json string?

• Which browsers support html5 offline storage?

  Essentially, I wanted to run a piece of demo code from W3c Offline Webapps page. It looks like that: var db = window.openDatabase("notes", "", "The Example Notes App!", 1048576); Firefox 3.5, IE8 and Chrome do not seem to get it. Is there anybody out there that actually wrote support for that? Or is this wishful thinking about 'the standard of the future'?

• IIS 6.0 :: SSL certificate install :: issue

  Certificate request process works fine. Once the certificate is received from VeriSign, the installation process also works fine (no errors.) However, once installed, the new certificate is not "assigned." Meaning, when I view the IIS instance security properties, it still shows the previous certificate start & end dates. Thoughts? Windows 2003, Web Edition. I have 3 other Win2003WE machines, configured nearly the same, and do not have this problem.

• Windows 8 delete key always delete file permanently

  Don't know why, but now my Delete key works the same as Shift + Delete which shows a 'Do you want to delete XXX permanently dialog. And it does not go through Recycle Bin anymore. How so? I am using the Windows 8 x64 edition. Update: My recycle bin setting is fine, that's why this is tricky. But the "Display delete confirmation dialog" check is checked and grayed out. That's one bit that is. The radio button of "Don't move files to recycle bin" is not checked.

  I need a simple floating point rounding function, thus: double round(double); round(0.1) = 0 round(-0.1) = 0 round(-0.9) = -1 I can find ceil() and floor() in the math.h - but not round(). Is it present in the standard C++ library under another name, or is it missing??

  Hi, I'm using godaddy shared hosting, with IIS7, Integrated mode, and published up a bog standard MVC2 app to dev.lazygekko.com created with Visual Web Developer 2010. It all works, however when any of the links are clicked, they point to dev.lazygekko.com/dev/..., dev being the folder it is pointing at. Can anyone shed some light on what I may be doing wrong?   Currently we are using the Enterprise AV Solution eTrust ITM 8.1. The licenses are running out in october and we are going to replace eTrust with another AV solution. The eTrust Server is running on Windows Server 2003 SP2 with an MS SQL 2000 Standard Edition. The problem is that we've got many different policy - sets which we have to redefine in the new AV solution. Is there any way with eTrust ITM 8.1 to export the different policies as csv, pdf ... whatever? I really dont want to do that manually (that would mean one print screen after the other ;-) ) Thank you very much. grub

  I'm trying to find a set of instructions for upgrading Vmware (ESXi and Vsphere) from 5.1 to 5.5, but all I'm finding online is a bunch of separate, incomplete knowledgebase articles which is making it difficult to get an overview of what's involved. What I'd like is a single, concise document that lists the steps involved. It could be a free online article, someone's blog, a small booklet, someone here who takes the trouble to write it out. Does such a thing exist? If so, can you provide the reference or even provide the text here. I'm running a very small, simple environment consisting of two ESXi hosts and Vsphere Standard edition. • External hard disk not showing up as removable media

  Windows 7 Pro x64, my external hard drive is a Western Digital Carviar Black. The hard drive is connected via USB (tried all my 2.0 and 3.0 ob my Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD7) but once I initialized it in the "disk management" (or whatever the proper term is; I'm using a German edition of Windows) I have to assign it a manual drive letter. Otherwise it doesn't show up. I'm confused because usually externally connected drives (be it USB sticks or real hard disks) just show up as "Removable media", but this one doesn't. Is this OK/expected? Will there be troubles when I go to another Windows computer? I formatted the drive with quick format and NTFS. I changed the permissions to have read/write for "Everyone" on that drive. thanks

• Oracle (xe) 10 vs 11 . Have I lost the SQL tuning pages ? Am I going out of my mind?

  Ok .. so perhaps the title needs calming down a bit, but basically I am after the xe 11g equivalent of the pages that you can see here : http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B25329_01/doc/admin.102/b25107/getstart.htm#BABHJAGE whcih you can then navigate to stuff like "top 50 queries" and "longest running queries" etc etc. For the life of me, I can't find that on the most recent xe edition. Please can someone direct me to where I might find these very useful admin pages ! • Is external JavaScript source available to scripting context inside HTML page?

  When an external JavaScript file is referenced, <script type="text/javascript" src="js/jquery-1.4.4.min.js"></script> is the JavaScript source (lines of code before interpretation) available from the DOM or window context in the current HTML page? I mean by using only standard JavaScript without any installed components or tools. I know tools like Firebug trace into external source but it's installed on the platform and likely has special ability outside the context of the browser sandbox.

  Should I use ISO 639-1 (2-letter abbreviation) or ISO 639-2 (3 letter abbrv) to store the user's language? Both are official standards, but which is the de facto standard in the development community? I think ISO 639-1 would be easier to remember, and is probably more popular for that reason, but thats just a guess.
