  • Deal with update location for click-once.

    - by Assimilater
I'm not sure how many people here are experts with visual studios, but I'd imagine a handful (not to raise expectations but to appeal to your egos :P). I'm working primarily in visual basic for now (though I hope to switch to c# in the near future and maybe a java or web app). Basically I'm trying to create an update feature that will work similarly to how common programs such as firefox or itunes update automatically. There is supposed to be provided functionality for this in what is called click once. I carry out the following procedures and get the following errors when trying to change the update url of my program to a password-protected ftp location. Go to project properties Go to publish click updates click browse click FTP Site Under Server put: web###.opentransfer.com Under Port: 21 Under Directory put: CMSOFT Passive mode is selected (which is what filezilla tells me the server is accessed with) Anonymous User is unselected and a username and password are typed in Push Ok Under Update location it shows: ftp://web###.opentransfer.com/CMSOFT I push Ok I see a message box titled Microsoft Visual Basic 2010 Express with an x icon Publish.UpdateUrl: The string must be a fully qualified URL or UNC path, for example "http://www.microsoft.com/myapplication" or "\server\myapplication". I've tried changing the directory to "CMSOFT/PQCM.exe" and the results are the same...hope this was descriptive enough.

  • Question about TerminateProcess hook

  • In .NET, how do you send multiple arguments into a DOS command prompt?

    - by donde
I am trying to execute DOS commands in ASP.NET 2.0. What I have now calls a BAT file which, in turn, calls a CMD file. It works (with the end result being a file gets ftp'ed). However, I'd like to dump the BAT and CMD files and run everything in .NET. What is the format of sending multiple arguments into the command window? Here is what I have now. The .NET Code: System.Diagnostics.Process proc = new System.Diagnostics.Process(); proc.EnableRaisingEvents = false; proc.StartInfo.FileName = "C:\\MyBat.BAT"; proc.Start(); proc.WaitForExit(); The Bat File looks like this (all it does is run the cmd file): ftp.exe -s:C:\MyCMD.cmd And here is the content of the Cmd file: open <my host> <my user name> <my pw> quote site cyl pri=1 sec=1 lrecl=1786 blksize=0 recfm=fb retpd=30 put C:\MyDTLFile.dtl 'MyDTLFile.dtl' quit

  • Calling a WPF Appliaction and modify exposed properties?

    - by Justin
I have a WPF Keyboard Application, it is developed in such a way that an application could call it and modify its properties to adapt the Keyboard to do what it needs to. Right now I have a file *.Keys.Set which tells the appliaction (on open) to style itself according to that new style. I know this file could be passed as a command line argument into the appliaction. That would not be a problem. My concern is, is thier a way via a managed environment to change the properties of the executable as long as they are exposed properly, an example: 'Creates a new instance of the Keyboard Appliaction Dim e_key as new WpfAppliaction("C:\egt\components\keyboard.exe") 'Sets the style path e_key.SetStylePath("c:\users\joe\apps\me\default.keys.set") e_key.Refresh() 'Applies the style e_key.HideMenu() 'Hides the menu e_key.ShowDeck("PIN") 'Shows the custom "deck" of keyboard keys the developer 'Created in the style appliaction. ''work with events and resposne 'Clear the instance from memory e_key.close e_key.dispose e_key = nothing This would allow my application to become easily accessible to other Touch Screen Application Developers, allowing them to use my key_board and keep the functionality they need. It seems like it might be possible because (name of executable).application shows all the exposed functions, properties, and values. I just have never done this before. Any help would be appreciated, thank you in advance.

  • How to access web.config connection string in C#?

    - by salvationishere
I have a 32-bit XP running VS 2008 and I am trying to decrypt my connection string from my web.config file in my C# ASPX file. Even though there are no errors returned, my current connection string doesn't display contents of my selected AdventureWorks stored procedure. I entered it: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\VC>Aspnet_regiis.exe -pe "connectionStrings" -app "/AddFileToSQL2" Then it said "Succeeded". And my web.config section looks like: <connectionStrings> <add name="Master" connectionString="server=MSSQLSERVER;database=Master; Integrated Security=SSPI" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" /> <add name="AdventureWorksConnectionString" connectionString="Data Source=SIDEKICK;Initial Catalog=AdventureWorks;Integrated Security=True" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" /> <add name="AdventureWorksConnectionString2" connectionString="Data Source=SIDEKICK;Initial Catalog=AdventureWorks;Persist Security Info=true; " providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" /> </connectionStrings> And my C# code behind looks like: string connString = ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["AdventureWorksConnectionString2"].ConnectionString; Is there something wrong with the connection string in the web.config or C# code behind file?

  • How do I access the names of VB6 modules from code?

    - by Mark Bertenshaw
Hi All - It is unlikely that there is an answer for this one, but I'm asking anyway. I am currently maintaining some code, which is likely to be refactored soon. Before that happens, I want to make the standard error handling code, which is injected by an Add-In, more efficient and take up less space. One thing that annoys me is that every module has a constant called m_ksModuleName that is used to construct a big string, which is then rethrown from the error handler so we can trace the error stack. This is all template code, i.e. repetivitve, but I could easily strip it down to a procedure call. Now, I have fixed the code so that you can pass the Me reference to the procedure - but you can't do that for the BAS modules. Nor can you access the project name (the part which would be passed as part of a ProgramID, for instance) - although you get given it when you raise an error yourself. All these strings are contained in the EXE, DLL or OCX - believe me, I've used a debugger to find them. But how can I access these in code? -- Mark Bertenshaw

  • Images not shown when publishing MVC application to virtual directory inside default web-site

    - by Michael Sagalovich
Hi! I am developing an application using ASP.NET MVC 1 and VS2008. When I deploy it to the default web-site in my IIS6 on WinXP, all images are shown correctly, path to any given image is localhost/Content/ImagesUI/[image].[ext] When I deploy it to the virtual directory, created inside the same site, any image request returns IIS standard 404 error page, while the path is localhost/[DirectoryName]/Content/ImagesUI/[image].[ext] - that seems to be correct, true? I am mapping .* to c:\windows\microsoft.net\framework\v2.0.50727\aspnet_isapi.dll in both site and directory configurations. When this mapping is removed, images are shown correctly. However, all other URLs do not work, of course. When I am trying to open an image in browser using the URL to it, aspnet_wp.exe process is not even started (I restarted IIS to test it) - I merely get 404 or the image, depending on the presence of * mapping. Thus, I suppose it has nothing to do neither with routes registered for MVC, nor with ASP. The solution that I found is to make Content folder a virtual directory and remove * mapping from its configuration. While that's OK to some extent, I want a better solution, which will explain and eliminate the cause of the problem, not just workaround it. Thanks for your help!

  • Detect Application Shutdown in C# NET?

    - by Michael Pfiffer
    I am writing a small console application (will be ran as a service) that basically starts a Java app when it is running, shuts itself down if the Java app closes, and shuts down the Java app if it closes. I think I have the first two working properly, but I don't know how to detect when the .NET application is shutting down so that I can shutdown the Java app prior to that happening. Google search just returns a bunch of stuff about detecting Windows shutting down. Can anyone tell me how I can handle that part and if the rest looks fine? namespace MinecraftDaemon { class Program { public static void LaunchMinecraft(String file, String memoryValue) { String memParams = "-Xmx" + memoryValue + "M" + " -Xms" + memoryValue + "M "; String args = memParams + "-jar " + file + " nogui"; ProcessStartInfo processInfo = new ProcessStartInfo("java.exe", args); processInfo.CreateNoWindow = true; processInfo.UseShellExecute = false; try { using (Process minecraftProcess = Process.Start(processInfo)) { minecraftProcess.WaitForExit(); } } catch { // Log Error } } static void Main(string[] args) { Arguments CommandLine = new Arguments(args); if (CommandLine["file"] != null && CommandLine["memory"] != null) { // Launch the Application LaunchMinecraft(CommandLine["file"], CommandLine["memory"]); } else { LaunchMinecraft("minecraft_server.jar", "1024"); } } } }

  • HashMap Memory Leak because of Dynamic Array

    - by Jake M
    I am attempting to create my own HashMap to understand how they work. I am using an array of Linked Lists to store the values(strings) in my hashmap. I am creating the array like this: Node** list; Instead of this: Node* list[nSize]; This is so the array can be any size at runtime. But I think I am getting a memory leak because of how I am doing this. I dont know where the error is but when I run the following simple code the .exe crashes. Why is my application crashing and how can I fix it? Note: I am aware that using a vector would be much better than an array but this is just for learning and I want to challenge myself to create the hashmap using a 'Dynamic' Array. PS: is that the correct term(Dynamic Array) for the kind of array I am using? struct Node { // to implement }; class HashMap { public: HashMap(int dynSize) { *list = new Node[dynSize]; size = dynSize; for (int i=0; i<size; i++) list[i] = NULL; cout << "END\n"; } ~HashMap() { for (int i=0; i<size; i++) delete list[i]; } private: Node** list; // I could use a vector here but I am experimenting with a pointer to an array(pointer), also its more elegant int size; }; int main() { // When I run this application it crashes. Where is my memory leak? HashMap h(5); system("PAUSE"); return 0; }

  • iMX31 dependencies?

    - by Abhi
Dear all I am beginner in an silverlight application. So at first i looked on demo application which is provided by wince 6.0 r3 at location WINCE600\PUBLIC\COMMON\OAK\DEMOS\XAMLPERF - this contains c++ code and WINCE600\PUBLIC\COMMON\OAK\FILES\XAMLPERF - this contains xaml file with the images Now before running this application in an emulator. I at first proceeded with the following: I have first taken my workspace went to catalog item and added "Silverlight for Windows Embedded" from the drop down menu of an catalog item Then right clicked on solution explorer and choosed on properties and under configuration in drop down menu i have selected environment variables where i have added new variable called "sysgen_samplexamlperf" and assigned value as 1 for that variable. Now after rebuiding the application, i have dumped the image into emulator and i found that at desktop of device emulator i can see the exe file to which i run and i can see the application is working fine with 3d effects. Now same thing i proceeded in iMX31 hardware and i was not able to see the application running in a proper manner as it was performing in an emulator. So now what i feel is that there be any dependency when we run the application on hardware. So what can be the dependency? Also in this location "WINCE600\PUBLIC\COMMON\OAK\FILES\XAMLPERF" the images are in png format. So is there any dependency with an image format? Thanks and regards

  • C++ MFC server app with sockets crashes and I cannot find the fault, help!

    - by usermeister
My program has one dialog and two sockets. Both sockets are derived from CAsyncSocket, one is for listening, other is for receiving data from client. My program crashes when client tries to connect to server application and server needs to initialize receiving socket. This is my MFC dialog class. class CFileTransferServerDlg : public CDialog { ... ListeningSocket ListenSock; ReceivingSocket* RecvSock; void OnAccept(); // called when ListenSock gets connection attempt ... }; This is my derived socket class for receiving data that calls parent dialogs method when event is signaled. class ReceivingSocket : public CAsyncSocket { CFileTransferServerDlg* m_pDlg; // for accessing parent dialogs controls virtual void OnReceive(int nErrorCode); } ReceivingSocket::ReceivingSocket() { } This is dialogs function that handles incoming connection attempt when listening socket gets event notification. This is where the crash happens. void CFileTransferServerDlg::OnAccept() { RecvSock = new ReceivingSocket; /* CRASH */ } OR void CFileTransferServerDlg::OnAccept() { ReceivingSocket* tmpSock = new ReceivingSocket; tmpSock->SetParentDlg(this); CString message; if( ListenSock.Accept(*tmpSock) ) /* CRASH */ { message.LoadStringW(IDS_CLIENT_CONNECTED); m_txtStatus.SetWindowTextW(message); RecvSock = tmpSock; } } My program crashes when I try to create a socket for receiving file sent from client application. OnAccept starts when Listening socket signals incoming connection attempt, but my application then crashes. I've tried running it on another computer and connection attempt was succesful. What could be wrong? Error in debug mode: Unhandled exception at 0x009c30e1 in FileTransferServer.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0xccccce58.

  • PHP - file uploads and ways to prevent viruses from being uploaded in zip/rar archives

    - by Joe
I am trying to provide a service on my website to allow users to upload files so others can download them. The issue is, since some of these files I will allow to upload will be .zip/.rar files, I am curious as to what ideas exist to help prevent the uploading of archives with Viruses/trojans etc. included. Some .zip files will include legitimate .exe files, though I am not sure what options I have. I thought about it and I don't have a method for verifying with a virus scanner on the server, since I am on shared hosting w/o the option to run a service like that... nor do I have the knowledge on how to do that. I am also aware there is no php class or database to scan the files for viruses. This means, my only options are to rely on: a). manual approval <-- not an acceptable option for me as it might become a busy site with thousands of uploads b). get the users to somehow point out it if has viruses through voting or "flagging", etc.... anyway, regarding "b" - what ideas would you suggest?

  • Why can’t PHP script write a file on server 2008 via command line or task scheduler?

    - by rg89
I created a question on serverfault.com, and it was recommended that I ask here. http://serverfault.com/questions/140669/why-cant-php-script-write-a-file-on-server-2008-via-command-line-or-task-schedul I have a PHP script. It runs well when I use a browser. It writes an XML file in the same directory. The script takes ~60 seconds to run, and the resulting XML file is ~16 MB. I am running PHP 5.2.13 via FastCGI on Windows Server Web edition SP1 64 bit. The code pulls inventory from SQL server, runs a loop to build an XML file for a third party. I created a task in task scheduler to run c:\php5\php.exe "D:\inetpub\tools\build.php" The task scheduler shows a time lapse of about a minute, which is how long the script takes to run in a browser. No error returned, but no file created. Each time I make a change to the scheduled task properties, a user password box comes up and I enter the administrator account password. If I run this same path and argument at a command line it does not error and does not create the file. When I right click run command prompt as an administrator, the file is still not created. I get my echo statement "file published" that is after the file creation and no error is returned. I am doing a simple fopen fwrite fclose to save the contents of a php variable to a .xml file, and the file only gets created when the script is run through the browser. Here's what happens after the xml-building loop: $feedContent .= "</feed"; sqlsrv_close( $conn ); echo "<p>feed built</p>"; $feedFile = "feed.xml"; $handler = fopen($feedFile, 'w'); fwrite( $handler, $feedContent ); fclose( $handler ); echo "<p>file published</p>"; Thanks

  • Compiling a C++ application on Windows 7, but execute it on Win2003 Server

    - by dabs
I have a C++ application (quite complex, multiple projects) in Visual Studio 2008, that produces a single dll. Recently I switched to Windows 7, but had previously been compiling under Windows XP. Suddenly the dll in question cannot be loaded by another application, i.e. on a machine running Windows 2003 Server. I've been trying various things: I've installed the VC9.0 redistributable package on the server Also copied various .dll's from that package to the application folder The project is of course compiled in release mode When I run depends.exe on the client machine, I do get the following error: "Error: The Side-by-Side configuration information for "my_dll.dll" contains errors. This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem (14001). Warning: At least one module has an unresolved import due to a missing export function in a delay-load dependent module." and the icon for shlwapi.dll has a red overlay icon. This didn't happen when I was compiling under WinXP, so I'm guessing that there really is no problem with the .dll's on the client machine, but somewhere there is a reference to that particular version of some dll. Does anyone know what would be the best way to resolve this? Regards, Daníel

  • Managed WMI Event class is not an event class???

    - by galets
I am using directions from here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms257351(VS.80).aspx to create a managed event class. Here's the code that I wrote: [ManagementEntity] [InstrumentationClass(InstrumentationType.Event)] public class MyEvent { [ManagementKey] public string ID { get; set; } [ManagementEnumerator] static public IEnumerable<MyEvent> EnumerateInstances() { var e = new MyEvent() { ID = "9A3C1B7E-8F3E-4C54-8030-B0169DE922C6" }; return new MyEvent[] { e }; } } class Program { static void Main(string[] args) { var thisAssembly = typeof(Program).Assembly; var wmi_installer = new AssemblyInstaller(thisAssembly, null); wmi_installer.Install(null); wmi_installer.Commit(null); InstrumentationManager.RegisterAssembly(thisAssembly); Console.Write("Press Enter..."); Console.ReadLine(); var e = new MyEvent() { ID = "A6144A9E-0667-415B-9903-220652AB7334" }; Instrumentation.Fire(e); Console.Write("Press Enter..."); Console.ReadLine(); wmi_installer.Uninstall(null); } } I can run a program, and it properly installs. Using wbemtest.exe I can browse to the event, and "show mof": [dynamic: ToInstance, provider("WmiTest, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null")] class MyEvent { [read, key] string ID; }; Notice, the class does not inherit from __ExtrinsicEvent, which is weird... I can also run select * from MyEvent, and get the result. Instrumentation.Fire() also returns no error. However, when I'm trying to subscribe to event using "Notification Query" option, I'm getting 0x80041059 Number: 0x80041059 Facility: WMI Description: Class is not an event class. What am I doing wrong, and is there a correct way to create managed WMI event?

  • WMI to reboot remote machine

    - by Stephen Murby
I found this code on an old thread to shutdown the local machine: using System.Management; void Shutdown() { ManagementBaseObject mboShutdown = null; ManagementClass mcWin32 = new ManagementClass("Win32_OperatingSystem"); mcWin32.Get(); // You can't shutdown without security privileges mcWin32.Scope.Options.EnablePrivileges = true; ManagementBaseObject mboShutdownParams = mcWin32.GetMethodParameters("Win32Shutdown"); // Flag 1 means we want to shut down the system. Use "2" to reboot. mboShutdownParams["Flags"] = "1"; mboShutdownParams["Reserved"] = "0"; foreach (ManagementObject manObj in mcWin32.GetInstances()) { mboShutdown = manObj.InvokeMethod("Win32Shutdown", mboShutdownParams, null); } } Is it possible to use a similar WMI method to reboot flag"2" a remote machine, for which i only have machine name, not IPaddress. EDIT: I currently have; SearchResultCollection allMachinesCollected = machineSearch.FindAll(); Methods myMethods = new Methods(); string pcName; ArrayList allComputers = new ArrayList(); foreach (SearchResult oneMachine in allMachinesCollected) { //pcName = oneMachine.Properties.PropertyNames.ToString(); pcName = oneMachine.Properties["name"][0].ToString(); allComputers.Add(pcName); MessageBox.Show(pcName + "has been sent the restart command."); Process.Start("shutdown.exe", "-r -f -t 0 -m \" + pcName); } but this doesn't work, and i would prefer WMI going forward.

  • MVC JsonResult with the [Authorize] attribute going to Logon but not displaying the view

    - by likestoski
I am seeing odd behavior with MVC 3 methods that return a JsonResult when used with the Authorize attribute. What looks like happens is the Authorize is correctly evaluated when I am not logged in but instead of redirecting to the logon form the Json response is the logon form. Is there an addition attribute that directs the response to not return a value but instead redirect the user to the logon form, preferebly with the correct returnUrl value? What I did as a demo was to setup a new MVC3 site and added AspNetMembership to my DB using the aspnet_regsql.exe command. All that is setup and logging me in correctly. The behavior of the JsonResult doesn't seem right and I'm hoping I have just missed an attribute to make it work properly. Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks in advance. Here is the Account Controller (leaving out the Post action which is not part of this question). public class AccountController : Controller { public ActionResult LogOn() { return View(); } [Authorize] public JsonResult AuthorizedAction() { return Json("Only returns if I am authorized"); } } Here is the Html markup: <script src="@Url.Content("~/Scripts/jquery-ui-1.8.11.min.js")" type="text/javascript"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function () { $("#btnTest").click(function () { $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "Account/AuthorizedAction", data: {}, success: function (result) { $("#testMe").html(result); }, error: function (result) { $("#testMe").html('Something broke in the ajax request'); } }); }); }); </script> <input type="button" id="btnTest" value="Test me" /> <div id="testMe">I have initial text</div> The Result: 1) When logged in I get 'Only returns if I am authorized' in my test div 2) When not logged and I have a break point in my Logon() method I see this value Request["returnUrl"] "/Account/AuthorizedAction" The test div I have displays the logon form :) this seems like I'm just not handling this properly.

  • How to "End Task" not "Kill" or "Terminate"?

    - by Luiscencio
Hi community. I have a 3G card to provide internet to a remote computer... I have to run a program(provided with the card) to establish the connection... since connections suddenly is lost I wrote a script that Kills the program and reopens it so that the connection is reestablished, there are certain versions of this program that don't kill the connection when killed/terminated, just when closed properly. so I am looking for a script or program that "Properly Closes" a window so I can close it and reopen it in case the connection is lost. this is the code that kills the program Option Explicit Dim objWMIService, objProcess, colProcess Dim strComputer, strProcessKill strComputer = "." strProcessKill = "'Telcel3G.exe'" Set objWMIService = GetObject("winmgmts:" _ & "{impersonationLevel=impersonate}!\\" _ & strComputer & "\root\cimv2") Set colProcess = objWMIService.ExecQuery _ ("Select * from Win32_Process Where Name = " & strProcessKill ) For Each objProcess in colProcess objProcess.Terminate() Next WSCript.Echo "Just killed process " & strProcessKill _ & " on " & strComputer WScript.Quit

  • Invalid Pointer Operation, advice requested with debugging

    - by Xanyx
I appear to have created code that is trashing memory. Having never had such problems before, i am now settign an Invalid Pointer Operation. In the following the value of the const string sFilename gets trashed after my call to PromptForXYZPropertiesSettings. // Allow the user to quickly display the properties of XYZ without needing to display the full Editor function PromptForXYZProperties(const sFilename:string; var AXYZProperties: TXYZProperties): boolean; var PropEditor: TdlgEditor; begin PropEditor:= TdlgEditor.create(nil); try PropEditor.LoadFromFile(sFilename); Other Details: Delphi 2007, Windows 7 64 bit, but can reproduce when testing EXE on XP REMOVING CONST STOPS PROBLEM FROM EXHIBITING (but presumably the problem is thus just lurking) PropEditor.PromptForXYZPropertiesSettings creates and shows a form. If I disable the ShowModal call then the memory is not trashed. Even though i have REMOVED ALL CONTROLS AND CODE from the form So I would like some advice on how to debug the issue. I was thinking perhaps watching the memory pointer where the sFilename var exists to see where it gets trashed, but not sure how i would do that (obviously needs to be done within the app so is owned memory). Thanks

  • What's a good way to write batch scripts in C#?

    - by Scott Bilas
I would like to write simple scripts in C#. Stuff I would normally use .bat or 4NT .btm files for. Copying files, parsing text, asking user input, and so on. Fairly simple but doing this stuff right in a batch file is really hard (no exceptions for example). I'm familiar with command line "scripting" wrappers like AxScript so that gets me part of the way there. What I'm missing is the easy file-manipulation framework. I want to be able to do cd(".."), copy(srcFile, destFile) type functionality. Tools I have tried: NANT, which we use in our build process. Not a good scripting tool. Insanely verbose XML syntax and to add a simple function you must write an extension assembly. Can't do it inline. PowerShell. Looks great, but I just haven't been able to switch over to this as my primary shell. Too many differences from 4NT. Whatever I do needs to run from an ordinary command prompt and not require a special shell to run it through. Can PowerShell be used as a script executor? Perl/Python/Ruby. Really hate learning an entirely new language and framework just to do batch file operations. Haven't been able to dedicate the time I need to do this. Plus, we're a 99% .NET shop for our toolchain and I really want to leverage our existing experience and codebase. Are there frameworks out there that are trying to solve this problem of "make a batch file in C#" that you have used? I want the power of C#/.NET with the immediate-mode type functionality of a typical cmd.exe shell language. Am I alone in wanting something like this?

  • Executing a process in windows server 2003 and ii6 from code - permissions error

    - by kurupt_89
    I have a problem executing a process from our testing server. On my localhost using windows XP and iis5.1 I changed the machine.config file to have the line - I then changed the login for iis to log on as local system account and allow server to interact with desktop. This fixed my problem executing a process from code in xp. When using the same method on windows server 2003 (using iis6 isolation mode) the process does not get executed. Here is the code to execute the process (I have tested the inputs to iecapt through the command line and an image is generated) - public static void GenerateImageToDisk(string ieCaptPath, string url, string path, int delay) { url = FixUrl(url); ieCaptPath = FixPath(ieCaptPath); string arguments = @"--url=""{0}"" --out=""{1}"" --min-width=0 --delay={2}"; arguments = string.Format(arguments, url, path, delay); ProcessStartInfo ieCaptProcessStartInfo = new ProcessStartInfo(ieCaptPath + "IECapt.exe"); ieCaptProcessStartInfo.RedirectStandardOutput = true; ieCaptProcessStartInfo.WindowStyle = ProcessWindowStyle.Hidden; ieCaptProcessStartInfo.UseShellExecute = false; ieCaptProcessStartInfo.Arguments = arguments; ieCaptProcessStartInfo.WorkingDirectory = ieCaptPath; Process ieCaptProcess = Process.Start(ieCaptProcessStartInfo); ieCaptProcess.WaitForExit(600000); ieCaptProcess.Close(); }

  • Why might one app connect to SQL backend OK and a second app fail if they share the same connectionstring?

    - by hawbsl
Trying to figure out a SQL connection error 26 in our app. We've got two closely related apps Foo and FooAddIn. Foo is a Winforms app built in VS2010 and runs fine and connects fine to our SQLExpress back end. FooAddIn is an Outlook AddIn which references Foo.exe and connects to the same SQL Express instance. Or rather, it doesn't connect, instead reporting: A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified) Now, both apps share the same connectionstring and we've verified they really do share the same connectionstring. At this stage we're just testing from within the same developer machine, so the apps are on the same machine, going via the same VS2010 IDE. So a lot of the advice online for this error doesn't apply because the fact that Foo connects through to SQL Express tells us the database is there and available and can be reached. What else is there to check? One thing is that Foo and FooAddIn are running different runtime versions of System.Data (v2.0.50727 and v4.0.30319). Could that be a factor?

  • How to create a progress bar while downloading a file using the windows API?

    - by Jorge Chayan
i'm working on an application in MS Visual C++ using Windows API that must download a file and place it in a folder. I have already implemented the download using URLDownloadToFile function, but i want to create a PROGRESS_CLASS progress bar with marquee style while the file is being downloaded, but it doesn't seems to get animated in the process. This is the function I use for downloading: BOOL SOXDownload() { HRESULT hRez = URLDownloadToFile(NULL, "url","C:\\sox.zip", 0, NULL); if (hRez == E_OUTOFMEMORY ) { MessageBox(hWnd, "Out of memory Error","", MB_OK); return FALSE; } if (hRez != S_OK) { MessageBox(hWnd, "Error downloading sox.", "Error!", MB_ICONERROR | MB_SYSTEMMODAL); return FALSE; } if (hRez == S_OK) { BSTR file = SysAllocString(L"C:\\sox.zip"); BSTR folder = SysAllocString(L"C:\\"); Unzip2Folder(file, folder); ::MessageBoxA(hWnd, "Sox Binaries downloaded succesfully", "Success", MB_OK); } return TRUE; } Later I call inside WM_CREATE (in my main window's message processor): if (!fileExists("C:\\SOX\\SOX.exe")) { components[7] = CreateWindowEx(0, PROGRESS_CLASS, NULL, WS_VISIBLE | PBS_MARQUEE, GetSystemMetrics(SM_CXSCREEN) / 2 - 80, GetSystemMetrics(SM_CYSCREEN) / 2 + 25, 200, 50, hWnd, NULL, NULL, NULL); SetWindowText(components[7], "Downloading SoX"); SendMessage(components[7], PBM_SETRANGE, 0, (LPARAM) MAKELPARAM(0, 50)); SendMessage(components[7], PBM_SETMARQUEE, TRUE, MAKELPARAM( 0, 50)); SOXDownload(); SendMessage(components[7], WM_CLOSE, NULL, NULL); } And as I want, I get a tiny progress bar... But it's not animated, and when I place the cursor over the bar, the cursor indicates that the program is busy downloading the file. When the download is complete, the window closes as i requested: SendMessage(components[7], WM_CLOSE, NULL, NULL); So the question is how can I make the bar move while downloading the file? Considering that i want it done with marquee style for simplicity. Thanks in advance.
