    This is my first attempt at virtualizing SQL server on VMWare and I want to make sure I am doing things correctly. Should I have SQL server installed on the C: drive / same partition as the OS, Then add a virtual disk for the Data files, say 300GB, and then another virtual disk for the log files say 100GB? Or should I add 2 300GB vdisks, for the data files mirror them in the operating system, and then add a non mirrored vdisk of 100GB for LogFiles??

I happen to have a hundreds-of-megabytes SQLite database that could very well benefit from "improved performance, concurrency, scalability, and reliability", but Oracle's site appears to lack any measurements of the improvements.     hi guys today my first day on asterisk on ubuntu. I installed vmware and then ubuntu and then on ubuntu i am running asterisk. i started the asterisk server successfully by following a tutorial. After making few changes into the sip.conf i want to reload the sip.conf i issue the command sip reload and nothing happens neither the commands to restart the asterisk server work actually the commands do not exists can some please throw light or point to right direction. thanks

    Why would bitmap outperform vector? My Flash is for a large Kiosk, with rich media requirements and must function accurately as a counter. I want to keep everything vector for scalability. When I did a simple FPS test, I noticed my Bitmap version performed perfectly, and the all vector file was noticeably slower. PLEASE EXPLAIN • vector performance• what graphic standards I can apply• solutions for using vector KIOSK TEST ANIMATION RESULTS • only text and bitmap perform well, not vector • background and clouds OK, but more layers slow it down

As of now I've setup so that the switch where all pcs are connected, mirrors the router's traffic to my pc, meaning that from my NIC I am able to see all outgoing and incoming internet connections. This works, I have used NIMAS (http://www.vmware.com/appliances/directory/200) and I am able to see internet traffic. Now what I am looking for is something even more simple, where I can see what computers are using what banwidth, live.

    Hi, I try to play sound from my monitoring application, which is an xp virtual machine on VMware ESX 3, on a physical machine with a real sound card, but I can not add from the ESX console sound card. Currently, I transmit sound with opening an RDP session and play it in this session. I would like to play sound without openning RDP session, do you have a solution to add a virtual sound card and then stream it with vlc?

This just isn't making sense to me as my indexes will easily be larger than the amount of available RAM. Can anyone share some insight on the index/RAM relationship and what happens when both an individual index and all of my indexes exceed the size of available RAM?

  • Can I resize the screen resolution of a remote desktop session?

    Is it possible to change the screen resolution of a Windows remote desktop session after I'm already logged on? For example: it's set for fullscreen but afterwards I want to make the window smaller but now it's Windowed with scrollbars etc. making it a real pain. Basically what I'm hoping for is like when you resize a VMWare session, the guest OS can resize the resolution and everything works beautifully.

    Let's say I want to allow my developers to upload their war files to a web app (not the application server itself) running on our intranet and that web app would then run those wars as if they were separate apps deployed individually in our J2EE container. In other words, we are not actually deploying the wars as separate apps in the container - they are simply running side-by-side inside this one web app that acts like a J2EE container. Is that possible? Something like a war virtualization app?

    I've got two VMware Workstation virtual machines running ... Virtual A can ping the host laptop most of the time, other real machines on my home network all of the time, but it gets a "request timed out" for virtual B Virtual B can ping the host laptop most of the time, and the machines, both real and virtual A all of the time The only difference I know of is virtual B has been joined to my works domain, whereas virtual A is still in workgroup mode Can anyone explain how / why this is occurring ?

    I want to know, before going forward, what I can expected in lost of performance (or not) of creating Windows spanned volumes from LUN delivered by a SAN ? I don't know which kind of SAN is (we don't administer it), but they give us 10 300 Gb LUN to our Windows 2k8 R2 (Vmware) and we need larger volume so we think to spanned some disk but we are aware of the performance issue.     I receive Word documents by mail and read them using the built-in Gmail reader. Sometimes the documents are password protected and I need to obtain access to a Windows machine with Office installed in order to read them. Is there a quicker / less hassle requiring method ? I don't want to have to install Vmware / Parallels nor Office on my fresh and sterile macbook.
