    - by user198222

Is this the best way to achieve my goal of high quality thumbnails?

  • Twitter Bootstrap: how to put unknown number of span* within a row-fluid?

    - by StackOverflowNewbie
    Assume I have the following nesting: <div class="cointainer-fluid"> <div class="row-fluid"> <div class="span3"> <!-- left sidebar here --> </div> <div class="span9"> <!-- main content here --> </div> </div> </div> I'd like to put an unknown number of <div class="span3"></div> in the main content area. (Each of the span3 is suppose to contain a product photo, name, price, etc.) Of course, my aim is that be responsive. So, I might display 20 products, which I'd like to possibly display 5 products per "row" on a wide screen, then 4 products per "row" on a slightly less wide screen, then 3, then 2, then 1. For example (each X represents a product): Wide Screen row 1: X X X X X row 2: X X X X X row 3: X X X X X row 4: X X X X X Less Wide Screen row 1: X X X X row 2: X X X X row 3: X X X X row 4: X X X X row 5: X X X X Even Less Wide Screen row 1: X X X row 2: X X X row 3: X X X row 4: X X X row 5: X X X row 6: X X X row 7: X X It seems like I need to do nested rows. However, if I do that, then I'll only be able to fit a certain amount of products in each nested row. That'll cause problems as the screen width decreases, for example (each X represents a product): Wide Screen row 1: X X X X X row 2: X X X X X row 3: X X X X X Less Wide Screen row 1: X X X X X row 2: X X X X X row 3: X X X X X How do I do what I want to do in Twitter Bootstrap?

  • Javascript: move the "view point" of the browser

    - by ArchJ
    I have a page with many out-of-bounds contents and since I set body{overflow:hidden}, they are not outside the viewport. So I want to attach a function to a button which would move the PoV of the browser so that the out-of-bounds contents would come into the viewport. What I can think of now is to set body{position:relative} and use jQuery to animate() the body instead. But in terms of performance, is there a better way to achieve that?

  • Problems with viewing site in Internet Exploder

    - by Kevin
    I built a site and I'm just about finished. It displays properly in all the browsers I have (Safari, Chrome, and Firefox) but my client is not computer savvy at all and still uses Internet Explorer, so that's all he's using to view the site. I don't have IE to test the site so I've been using BrowserStack.com and I see in IE that the site is broken. The navigation bar has a white background and is pushed down a line, and the logo isn't appearing. Could anybody please assist me with figuring out why the site isn't displaying properly in IE, and how to fix it? Help is greatly appreciated. Thanks Site: WebuildCAhomes dot com

  • jQuery - Can someone help stitching jQuery code with .ajaxComplete()?

    - by Kenny Bones
    Hi, so I've got this content loader that replaces content within a div with content from a separate page. But the content that arrives contains a menu that uses jQuery and this is not working. Someone told me I need to reinitialize the code. But how do I do that? I've looked into .ajaxComplete(), but I don't really get how I'm supposed to stitch that together with my existing code? $('.dynload').live('click', function(){ var toLoad = $(this).attr('href')+' #content'; $('#content').fadeOut('fast',loadContent); $('#ajaxloader').fadeIn('normal'); function loadContent() { $('#content').load(toLoad,'',showNewContent()) } function showNewContent() { $('#content').fadeIn('fast',hideLoader()); //Cufon.replace('h1, h2, h3, h4, .menuwrapper', { fontFamily: 'advent'}); } function hideLoader() { $('#ajaxloader').fadeOut('normal'); } return false; }); This is the code I'm using for the jQuery menu: $().ready(function() { $('#kontrollpanel .slidepanels').kwicks({ min : 42, spacing : 3, isVertical : true, sticky : true, event : 'click' }); }); Also, notice how I try to call Cufon as well within the first function? That doesn't really work either, could that be reinitialized as well? Would really appreciate any help at all..

  • letting absoltuely positioned area grow

    - by JCHASE11
    Please see this page for reference: test page I am designing a site that has a sidebar that contains an accordion style vertical nav bar. The sidebar which contains this accordion is absolutely positioned, relative to the container that holds it. I did this so the sidebar would stay sticky to the top, bottom, and side. When you click the products button, the accordion expands well past the container, overflowing into the footer. If I floated the sidebar to the left, it would grow to accommodate the entire sidebar, but it wouldn't be sticky to the bottom of the container by default. I need a solution that allows the sidebar to be absolutely positioned, and allow growth if the accordion expands. Any Ideas? Jquery solution perhaps?

  • JavaScript - Is it possible to get height from div in separate page?

    - by Kenny Bones
    Hi, I'm wondering, is it possible to collect the height of a specific div container from a separate page with JavaScript? I'm using jQuery btw and I'm in need of comparing heights of div containers. Edit: To clarify a bit more, I load content from a specific div in a separate page using jQuery. This content is faded into a different container with dynamic height. But in the small fraction of time before the content arrives, it shrinks down to it's min-height. What I've done so far is collecting the height of the container before and after the load. But it only works after I've loaded content once. Because I don't have the height before it's been loaded the first time.

It should center no matter the resolution. Using XHTML 1.0 Strict. Should work on all major browsers or at least Firefox and chrome.

  • how to make a border area go around the content of a page where there is a footer fixed to the bottom of the page and an header fixed to the top

    - by user277498
    consider the following: http://jsfiddle.net/PxabT/10/ There are 3 divs hd, bd, ft. hd is fixed to the top. ft is fixed to the bottom. I want the lime colored border to go totally around the white central area without increasing the height of the ft or hd divs. How do I achieve that? Many thanks! edit: see http://jsfiddle.net/PxabT/15/ which is a step forward by changing the borders to padding.

  • Have a div cling to top of screen if scrolled down past it

    - by Alex

When a user scrolls past it, I would like the div to "follow" the user in that it attaches to the top of the screen. When the user returns to the top of the page, I want it back in its original position. • fieldWithErrors not wrapping every error field

    - by Teef L
    Notice the following result when I submit blank :title and :description fields The validations are in the controller: class Question < ActiveRecord::Base validates_presence_of :title validates_presence_of :description And, the form is generated with those names: -form_for(@question) do |f| = f.error_messages = f.label :title = f.text_field :title, :size => 50, :onchange => remote_function(:url => {:action => :display_tag_suggestions}, :with => 'Form.Element.serialize(this)') #suggestions = f.label :description = f.text_area :description ... But, for some reason, only :title gets wrapped in the error div tags: <form action="/questions" class="new_question" id="new_question" method="post"> <div style="margin:0;padding:0"><input name="authenticity_token" type="hidden" value="6HQaiu1D0gBQcKw2pLeZP6Jvn0FSClPD5Sk9HwegzPg=" /></div> <div class="errorExplanation" id="errorExplanation"> <h2>2 errors prohibited this question from being saved</h2> <p>There were problems with the following fields:</p> <ul> <li>Title can't be blank</li> <li>Description can't be blank</li> </ul> </div> <label for="question_title">Title</label> <div class="fieldWithErrors"><input id="question_title" name="question[title]" onchange="new Ajax.Request('/questions/display_tag_suggestions', {asynchronous:true, evalScripts:true, parameters:Form.Element.serialize(this) + '&amp;authenticity_token=' + encodeURIComponent('6HQaiu1D0gBQcKw2pLeZP6Jvn0FSClPD5Sk9HwegzPg=')})" size="50" type="text" value="" /></div> <label for="question_description">Description</label> <textarea cols="40" id="question_description" name="question[description]" rows="20"></textarea> ... I don't think that behavior is expected. The problem most people have is that it's wrapping things with divs, which won't display properly. My problem is that fields aren't being wrapped with divs to begin with! I haven't made any (conscious) changes to how errors are handled, so I'm not sure why it's not working properly.

  • How do I make menus like these?

    - by Doug
    So I'm looking at slickdeals.net and amazon.com, and I found something very intriguing. It's basic for most of you guys out there, but it's new to me. For slickdeals.net, when you click login, a login box pops up like so. Also for Amazon.com, when you hover over the left navigational menus, a new menu pops up! I think it's JavaScript, but how does this work? How can I do something like that?

  • HTML columns or rows for form layout?

    - by Valera
    I'm building a bunch of forms that have labels and corresponding fields (input element or more complex elements). Labels go on the left, fields go on the right. Labels in a given form should all be a specific width so that the fields all line up vertically. There are two ways (maybe more?) of achieving this: Rows: Float each label and each field left. Put each label and field in a field-row div/container. Set label width to some specific number. With this approach labels on different forms will have different widths, because they'll depend on the width of the text in the longest label. Columns: Put all labels in one div/container that's floated left, put all fields in another floated left container with padding-left set. This way the labels and even the label container don't need to have their widths set, because the column layout and the padding-left will uniformly take care of vertically lining up all the fields. So approach #2 seems to be easier to implement (because the widths don't need to be set all the time), but I think it's also less object oriented, because a label and a field that goes with that label are not grouped together, as they are in approach #1. Also, if building forms dynamically, approach #2 doesn't work as well with functions like addRow(label, field), since it would have to know about the label and the field containers, instead of just creating/adding one field-row element. Which approach do you think is better? Is there another, better approach than these two?

  • Jquery menu help please

    - by Trai Tran
    I am having trouble with this menu, when I hover to the subcategories they keep slideup. I want the subcategories to remain when I hover it and when I move my mouse outside it will slideup, same go to the main categories. Please help. I had been working on this for 1 hour but no solution. $(document).ready(function(){ $('ul#level1').slideUp(); $('a#tab').hover(function(){ var content_show = $(this).attr('title'); $('.'+ content_show).stop().slideDown(); },function(){ var content_show = $(this).attr('title'); $('.'+ content_show).stop().slideUp(); }); }); <li><a href="#" id="tab" class="active" title="one">Sport</a> <ul id="level1" class="one"> <li><a href="#">View All</a></li> <li><a href="#" >Shoes</a></li> <li><a href="#" >T-Shirt</a></li> <li><a href="#" >Tools</a></li> <li><a href="#" >Hats</a></li> <li><a href="#">Pants</a></li> </ul> </li> <li><a href="#" id="tab" class="tab" title="two">Foods</a> <ul id="level1" class="two"> <li><a href="#">Link Here</a></li> <li><a href="#">Link Here</a></li> <li><a href="#">Link Here</a></li> <li><a href="#">Link Here</a></li> <li><a href="#">Link Here</a></li> </ul> </li>

  • How do I keep website footer on bottom of the window?

    - by taw
    Coding footer naively, if there's not enough content, then there will be empty space between footer and bottom of page. I would like to get rid of this and move footer to the bottom of the window. On the other hand when there is more content, I want the content to push the footer down (so position: fixed; bottom: 0; won't do). How do I achieve this?

  • Show information over image on rollover

    - by Chris
    I want to be able to show information (HTML basically) over an image when the mouse rolls over the image... I know there is a .hover() jQuery function but am unsure how to use it to get the desired effect. Ideally when a user hovers over an image it would "grey out" (e.g. layer of 50% opacity black) with some HTML like a title etc etc. Can someone point me in the right direction or provide sample code Thanks

  • Toastr.js notifications as modal notfication

    - by Maxsteel
    I know it's not what toastr (or toast notifs in general) are meant to be used for, but I want to use them as a modal notification. My idea is following. On toast show: toastr.options.onShown = function() { //Create an overlay on the entire page} Overlay: #overlay { background-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.8); z-index: 999; position: absolute; left: 0; top: 0; width: 100%; height: 100%; display: none; } And on toast close: toastr.options.onHidden = function() { //make overlay go away } Also, I'm setting timeout of toast to 0 so it won't disappear by itself. Question: I want the toast notification to stay atop the overlay and not behind it as overlay will cover everything. How can I do it?
