• Should I Return "500" or "404" if a Requested Image is not Found?

  I work with code written by other people, occasionally I am left somewhat confused and at these times Stack Overflow saves me. Please, save me again. Our site allows people to upload images and later embed them within text in our site like so: <img src="http://site.com/image_script.php?p=some_image_identifier"/> My question is: If the identifier, "p", does not lead us to an image should the server return "500" or "404"? I would have thought it should be "404", but that's not what is happening right now.

• How do I blur (ios7 style) a section of an image in a UITableViewCell?

  I've got a UIImageView that takes up the whole cell and shows an image. I'd like to blur the bottom third of the view in the iOS7 style (we're targeting iOS7). There will be a label over the blurred part. The issue seems to be that I can't "screenshot" the UIImageView right as I am setting up the cell in tableView:cellForRowAtIndexPath: as it hasn't loaded yet. Although i've even tried setting up a timer for a 0.1 second delay and that also doesn't work. I've tried the stuff on http://damir.me/posts/ios7-blurring-techniques I've tried https://github.com/justinmfischer/7blur I'd like to use the new screenshotting API drawViewHierarchyInRect:afterScreenUpdates: I'd also like to use apple's sample code UIImage+ImageEffects The only thing that has worked so far has been to just put a UIToolbar in but the performance is really slow. I don't need dynamic updates. I've managed to get the following effect a few times but it has just tinted the view and hasn't actually blurred anything so I'm a bit confused.

• PHP/Apache: Permission settings for uploaded JPEG image files not correct.

  I just setup a LAMP development server and am still trouble-shooting some things. The server is installed on one computer and I use a Windows laptop to write my code and test the site via the web browser. My file uploading script works in that JPEG image files are successfully uploaded to the server, but when I try to view the images in the web browser, permission is denied. I check the permissions on the file via the server and they are 600. I can fix the issue by chmod 777 theimage.jpg, but this doesn't seem like a good solution at all. Does the solution have something to do with Apache configuration? Or is there something else I should be doing. Thank-you, Mike

• How do I layout an image that will be dynamically sized in interface builder?

  I am having trouble laying out scrollable view in interface builder. A screen shot of my layout is here. As you can see the layout is pretty simple. The UIImageView above the text will not have a specific height. It may be 100px high or 300px high. This is why the view is scrollable. I am experiencing two problems with this layout: 1) For some reason the image will sit behind the text instead of pushing it down. Take a look here. 2) The obvious other problem is that the upper most UIImage and UILabel are getting pushed up off of the screen. I am thinking this has to do with the UIScrollView but I haven't been able to figure out why. Thanks!

• Online Image Slideshow Question. File Access Problems.

  Hi, I have a flash .swf file that I embed on my webpage. On my server I have the .swf file and multiple image folders. I would like to load every file in one of those folders into the flash slideshow. How should I go about doing this? I tried used Air but it doesn't work on my system as an application so I doubt it will work online. Eventually I plan on making a menu where you can select different folders to display and since they are of different sizes, a foreach loop would be optimal. Keeping a txt file with the number of images is also possible if theres a way to read that in, but I would prefer the more dynamic approach. I am working towards using php for the website if that helps find a solution. Thanks, -Mike Also my slideshow works great online currently but i have to hardcode in the number of files.

• How can I detect whether an image is a PNG or APNG format?

  APNG is backwards compatible with PNG. I opened up an apng and png file in a hex editor and the first few bytes look identical. So if a user uploads either of these formats, how do I detect what the format really is? I've seen this done on some sites that block apng. I'm guessing the ImageMagick library makes this easy, but what if I were to do the detect without the use of an image processing library (for learning purposes)? Can I look for specific bytes that tell me if the file is apng? Solutions in any language is welcome.

• django-lfs upload Image doesn't work on some environment ?

  yesterday, after I complete setup django-lfs without buildout. Happlily create categories and products but while I upload image to product after I push upload button its stay always 'pendings'. I use fedora django==1.1.2,PIL==1.1.7. but its work on osx. Now I try on Ubuntu9.10 with completely PIL==1.1.7 and Django==1.1.2 and its won't work. Anyone hav some good solution for this ? (i may think of flash version because upload part looklike its come from flash)

  I was unable to activate Safari Reader in a local HTML file, so I cannot give you a running example but only describe my problem: The markup of my blog posts is basically this: <div class="post"> <div class="post-header">Hello, World</div> <div class="post-body"> <p>Look at this picture:</p> <p><img src="http://37prime.com/news/wp-content/uploads/2008/03/safari_icon.png"/></p> <p>Isn't that a nice picture?</p> </div> </div> This looks as expected in all browsers, including Safari. In Safari Reader however, the third paragraph "Isn't that a nice picture?" is floating around the image, instead of being on a paragraph of it's own. Has anybody experienced a similar problem?

• Best way to validate a WinCE OS image (.bin) file?

  We have a Windows CE 6.0 based product that allows for firmware upgrades through a web interface. I want to perform a sanity check on the new firmware image to be sure that it is valid. How should I perform the validation? I see in the BIOSLOADER code, there is support code for decoding a BIN file. I suppose I could massage that to perform the validation. Is there a better way?   I am looking for a .NET library that is able to decode data from a PDF-417 barcode that is embedded either in an image file or PDF. At this point, I have only been able to find a Java version and a C version. Ideally, this library would be both open-source and free of charge, but I doubt such a decoder exists. I am open to trying out demos of existing products that you may have had experience with - which leads me to the question - have you had any experience reading PDF-417 barcodes embedded in images or PDFs using .NET, and which of the available products would you recommend to do so?

  Is there any way to vertically align an image element generated by a "content" property as part of a ":before" selector, next to adjacent inline text? In other words, I have <a href="..." class="facebook">Share on Facebook</a> As I don't want to pollute my markup with unnecessary IMG elements that only have to do with style, I resort to adding a small icon to the left of the link, via CSS (except that it does not align properly, hence the question): a.facebook:before { content: url(/style/facebook-logo.png); } I tried adding a "vertical-align: middle" (one of the most notoriously difficult aligning concepts to grasp in CSS, in my opinion, is that very property) but it has no effect. The logo aligns with text baseline, and I don't want to hardcode pixel offsets, because frankly text size differs from browser to browser, etc. Is there any solution for this? Thanks.

  If you look at the Snip tool in windows there is an option to send the snip as an embedded attachment in the default mail client (I guess as an html email). I need exactly that. At the moment I am using simple MAPI to attach the image but that does not allow embedding. One key requirement is that it should be created and then shown in the default mail client. I don't think I can use System.Net.Mail for that. Or can I? Its a WPF application using c#.

  Hi all, In my application, I need to add this functionality that there should be an arrow image upside down placed before first cell and some text like "Pull down to refresh" and when user pulls the table beyond this then this arrow gets inverted and text changes to "Release to refresh" and when the user releases his finger, the data is refreshed and rows get added to that point So now this initial arrow and text moves upwards before the first cell again. I'm trying to have my personal website parse through my mail box for attachments from a certain subscription list, and then be able to view the PDF attachments as images, preferably jpg. With the help of this: http://www.linuxscope.net/articles/mailAttachmentsPHP.html I'm currently using imap_base64() to decode the MIME data and create the PDF. However, I hate using PDF readers in general and I thought it would be a lot more streamlined if I could just view it as an image instead. I've heard for convert with ImageMagick, but would I need to actually write the PDF to a directory before using this, or can I convert somehow directly from the MIME data in the email? • Is it possible to get download progress of video/image in HTML5 ?

  Hello, Almost every flash player has an option to display how much of buffer (or % of total video) is downloaded to the client. At the moment I don't see it in any implementation of html5 video player. The real problem I am trying to solve is to have a way of knowing % of downloaded asset (image/swf/video whatever). In flash its easy by using MovieClipLoader and bytesLoaded property. Is there any way of doing it in HTML/HTML5/Javascript (without relying on Flash) ? Thanks!
