For example, when the header of column A is clicked the rows of the grid are sorted on the data from column B. Visually it should still appear that it is column A that has been sorted as the sort glyphys will be shown in column A's header.

  • Getting Wikipedia infoboxes in a format that Ruby can understand

    I am trying to get the data from Wikipedia's infoboxes into a hash or something so that I can use it in my Ruby on Rails program. Specifically I'm interested in the Infobox company and Infobox person. The example I have been using is "Ford Motor Company". I want to get the company info for that and the person info for the people linked to in Ford's company box. I've tried figuring out how to do this from the Wikipedia API or DBPedia but I haven't had much luck. I know wikipedia can return some things as json which I could parse with ruby but I haven't been able to figure out how to get the infobox. In the case of DBPedia I am kind of lost on how to even query it to get the info for Ford Motor Company.

  • When I mark a property as transient, does the type matter?

    For example, I make a fullName property and set it to transient. Does it matter what data type that property is, in this case? For example, does it matter if it's set to int or string? As far as I get it, a transient property is almost "ignored" by Core Data. I make my accessors for that and when someone accesses fullName, I simply construct a string and return that. Did I miss something?

    Hi, I was trying to understand the difference between early and late binding, and in the process realized that the concept of binding is nebulous to me. I think I understand that it relates to the way data-as-a-word-of-memory is linked to type-as-a-set-of-language-features but I am not sure those are the right concepts. Also, how does understanding this deeply help people become better programmers? Please note: This question is not "what is late v. early binding" or "what are the trade-offs between the 2".     Can anyone think of a (preferably quick) way to move the data() attached to a DOM element to a new instance of itself? The lightbox plugin I'm using deletes and re-appends and element to the page in order to display it in the lightbox (to aviod the multiple-ids issue that ASP.net has), and obviously the .data() that is attached to the element is lost when this happens.

    I have an int(11) column which is used to store money. I read some of the answers on SO and it seems I just need to update it to be a decimal (19,4) data type. Are there any gotchas I should know about before I actually do the converting? My application is in PHP/Zend and I'm not using an ORM so I doubt I would need to update any sort of class to consistently identify the data type.

    I want to send data to a printer on LPT1 and i trying exactly this but my CreateFile returns -1 (The system cannot find the file specified.Exception from HRESULT:0x80070002). How to open LPT1 port and send data to? I am trying this on XP and after that in win7 64 bit because from what i've read working with LPT in win7 64 bit is a bit of a problem, or should i say 64 bit of a problem:) PS:Since it's my first post this year: Happy New year to everybody.
