  Hi all, I have an to set background image. it is a red line under the input value. background-attachment:scroll; background-color:#FFFFFF; background-image:url("../images/errorLine.gif"); background-position:left bottom; background-repeat:repeat-x; the input value is like "123; 456; 789;". the red line cover all the string, its length is the same as the input width.   I am attempting to return a rowcount from a subquery as part of a result set. Here is a sample that I've tried that didn't work: SELECT recordID , GroupIdentifier , count() AS total , (SELECT COUNT() FROM table WHERE intActingAsBoolean = 1) AS Approved FROM table WHERE date_format(Datevalue, '%Y%m%d') BETWEEN 'startDate' AND 'endDate' GROUP BY groupIdentifier What I'm attempting to return for 'Approved' is the number of records for the grouped value where intActingAsBoolean = 1. I have also tried modifying the where clause by giving the main query a table alias and applying an AND clause to match the groupidentifier in the subquery to the main query. None of these are returning the correct results. The query as written returns all records in the table where intActingAsBoolean = 1. This query is being run against a MySQL database.

  I have a VS2010 (RTM) solution which contains: WCF Service project Console WCF client project Class project for DataContracts and members Class project for some simple classes I successfully added a service reference in the console client project and ran the client. I then did a long dev cycle repeatedly modifying the service then updating console service reference. I then changed the namespace and assembly names for the projects as well as the .cs using references and app.config. I of course missed some things as it would not build so I eventually removed the project references and the service reference, cleaned and built successfully. I then attempted to add the service reference again, it discovered it but threw the “Object reference not set to an instance of an object” when OK'ing. Fix in answer below...

• Is there a way to set up a Linux pipe to non-buffering or line-buffering?

  My program is controlling an external application on Linux, passing in input commands via a pipe to the external applications stdin, and reading output result via a pipe from the external applications stdout. The problem is that writes to pipes are buffered by block, and not by line, and therefore delays occur before my app receives data output by the external application. The external application cannot be altered to add explicit fflush() calls. When I set the external application to /bin/cat -n (it echoes back the input, with line numbers added), it works correctly, it seems, cat flushes after each line. The only way to force the external application to flush, is sending exit command to it; as it receives the command, it flushes, and all the answers appears on the stdout, just before exiting. I'm pretty sure, that Unix pipes are appropiate solution for that kind of interprocess communication (pseudo server-client), but maybe I'm wrong.   Hello guys, I am working on a larger GUI with Java and I am becoming angry on Layout Managers. I have a "Settings-Panel" with a variable number of JComponents in it (Labels, Buttons, JSpinners, JSliders,...). I just want the following: JLabel <- JComponent JLabel <- JComponent JLabel <- JComponent ... My Panel has a size of 500px, so that there is enough space for a lot of components. Unfortunatly the GridLayout always stretches the size of the Components to the whole Panel, even if I set a MaximumSize for every component. It looks stupid if there are only two buttons each with a height of 250px. I tried flow Layout, but i cannot figure out a way to make new lines properly. I tried BoxLayout.Y_AXIS, but the Components are always centered, and Label and Component are not in the same line. Does anybody know a good and short way with LayoutManagers to handle this properly?

  How to delete a child row (on delete cascade ?) when setting a null value on a parent? Here's the db design. table A [id, b_id_1, b_id_2] table B [id, other fields...] b_id_1 and b_id_2 can be NULL if any of them is null, it means NO B records for corresponding FK (there are 2 of them) so (b_id_1,b_id_2) can be (null,null), (100, null), (null, 100_or_any_other_number) etc How in one SQL query both set b_id_1 or b_id_2 to null and delete all rows from B that have this id? What FK design should be applied to the 2 tables? what foreign keys should be added? A - B (FK_1: A.b_id_1 references B.id, FK_2: A.b_id_2 references B.id) and also B-A (FK_3: B.id references A.b_id_1, FK_4: B.id references A.b_id_2) ? But again, setting an A's b_id_1 or A's b_id_2 to null - will it remove any of B's records? I don't think so. So how to do that?

  From playing around I can see that this code $("#Selected3").select2({ minimumInputLength: 3 }); $("#Selected3").select2({ placeholder: "Show a placeholder" }); will show me the placeholder but remove the minimumInputLength parameters value. Does anyone know a way please that this example could be modified so that the placeholder will be added without losing the minimum..Length value. Any answers will need to allow for the possibility of the statements being in separate files, i.e. one on the page and another in a referenced .js file. I am aware that this would be much easier if I set all the parameters at once, e.g. $("#Selected3").select2({ minimumInputLength: 3, placeholder: "Show a placeholder" }); but I am working within a framework which won't currently allow that. • How should I set up these tables for searching?

  My PHP site is an online store with about 5k products. Products belong to a vendor, a category, and possibly a subcategory. Each of those items has a name and the products have descriptions. The search queries we've set up work wonderfully, but tend to run pretty slow. They range between 0.20s and 30s (yes 30 seconds). We've optimized like crazy and I'm starting to think we're out of room to improve on that front, so we're caching them and that's making life a lot easier. But when they run they are still killing the server, because what appears to be all of the table locking that comes with MyISAM. So on to my question: Is there a way for us to use InnoDB (row-level locking) and still maintain FULLTEXT? Should we move our DB offsite and use a service like DB2? Is there some other search engine type software we should use instead? Any help is greatly appreciated :)

  In this question, someone asked how to write a validation method for Core Data. I did that, and it looks cool. But one thing doesn't happen: The validation. I can easily set any "bad" value and this method doesn't get called automatically. What's the concept behind this? Must I always first call the validation method before setting any value? So would I write setter methods which call the appropriate validation method first? And if yes, what's the point of following a strict convention in how to write the validation method signature? I guess there's also some automatic way of validation, then. How to activate this?

  I have a set of jpeg images where eacg image has an associated description. e.g. im1.jpg - suspect enters bank im7.jpg - suspect hands teller a note imj41.jpg - teller gives suspect a bag ... ... It's trivial to view these images individually and see the description but how do I play this as a movie? I need to play the images and when I encounter one with a description, display the description in a status pane. Do I need to convert the images into a movie, if so how? How do I get the player to notify me when the description frame is encountered? I'm using Windows. language doesn't matter, I just need the concept right now.

• Why can't I set attribute "TYPE" of LI element in IE?

  Hello, I've just come to an unusual beghavior of Internet Explorer IE (v8.0.6001.18904). When I try to set "type" attribute of any <LI> element, it will result into error. I used jQuery (v1.32): $("<li>").attr("type", "test"); The same thing works for DIV. LI element does not seem to have "type" attribute reserved by HTML or XHTML definitions. It also might be jQuery issue. Solution is simple - just use another attribute name :-) But is there someone out there who knows WHY does this error occur? Could it happen with another attribute names? Why the error comes with LI element only?

  Hi, I'm trying to create css buttons by using the following html markup: <a href="access.php" class="css_button_red">Forgot password</a> But it ends up being not bigger than the text in the middle. Even though I've set the class's height and width. You can preview the problem here btw, www.matkalenderen.no Notice the first button, that's a form button and it's using it's own class. At first I tried to use the same class on the css button as well and the same problem appeared, so I tried to separate them into their own classes. In case there was some kind of crash. But it didn't matter anyway. What am I missing here?

  Hi all I'm stuck. Tried all the angles but i cant seem to get it working. I have 2 inline calendars. When i select a date from the dtFrm calendar it sets the date on the dtTo calendar as expected. I just cant seem to set the EndDate of the dtTo calendar. Anyone manage to solve this one? Thanks! For example in toString operations, toBool, toInt, etc. Is there a way I can get set a property for the class library to always execute using CultureInfo.InvariantCulture, even if it is not explicitly specified everywhere in the code? Sort of like a global switch?   Basically, I have a unit test that gets a singleton instance of a class. Some of my tests required me to mock this singleton, so when I do Foo.Instance I get a different type of instance. The problem is that my checks are passing individually, but failing overall because one test is interfering with another. I tried to do a TestCleanup where I set: Foo_Accessor._instance = null; but that didn't work. What I really need is Foo_Accessor._instance.IsValueCreated = false; (_instance is a Lazy). Any way to unset the Lazy object that I didn't think of?

  I am testing some scripts that interface with system commands. Their logic depends on the return code of the system commands, i.e. the value of $?. So, as a simplified example, the script might say: def foo(command) output=`#{command}` if $?==0 'succeeded' else 'failed' end end In order to be able to test these methods properly, I would like to be able to stub out the Kernel backquote call, and set $? to an arbitrary value, to see if I get appropriate behavior from the logic in the method after the backquote call. I can't figure out a way to do this. (In case it matters, I'm testing using Test::Unit and Mocha.)

• Why does setting document.domain require me to set it in all popups and iframes too?

  I'm using a long-polling iframe solution for a chat script. Unfortunately, this requires me to set document.domain='yourdomain.com' in the iframe and main document, because the iframe is a subdomain call. The huge problem is...now all my other scripts that use popups and iframes are broken. They now require me to put document.domain in them too. It does fix it, but this is not an ideal solution at all. Is there another way around this problem?

  (honestly I searched and read all the 'related questions' that seemed relevant - i do hope i didn't "miss" this question from elsewhere but here goes...) There are two different ways (at least) to set the DataContext. One can use XAML or one can use the code behind. What is the 'best practice' and why? I tend to favor setting it in XAML because it allows a designer to define collections on their own but I need 'ammunition' on why it's a best practice or why I'm crazy and the code behind is the bomb...
