  I'm having problems with the execution of ServerFilterByForm in Access 2003 When I apply the entered filter it returns the requested data but after it appear on screen (Form) it disappears. Don't know why this is happening Does anyone had the same problem? How can it be solved? • What CSS should I use to create a series of horizontal, non-wrapping blocks?

  I have a set of dynamically generated content - anywhere between 1 and about 25 blocks (each of which I want to be about 250px wide. Clearly, this can run off-screen, but that's fine since my design allows for horizontal scrolling (using jQuery - I don't want the browser to do it with its own scroll bars). So what CSS - cross-browser - is the best approach? Floats seem to wrap unreliably, and the dynamic nature of the content which changes frequently through ajax calls - means that recalculating the container width is not very practical. Other CSS-based option?

The column sums are easy via the 'dims' argument of colSums(): > colSums(a, dims = 1) but I cannot find a way to use rowSums() on the array to achieve the desired result, as it has a different interpretation of 'dims' to that of colSums(). It is simple to compute the desired row sums using: > apply(a, 3, rowSums) [,1] [,2] [1,] 12 12 [2,] 15 15 [3,] 18 18 but that is just hiding the loop. Are there other efficient, truly vectorised, ways of computing the required row sums?

• Are CMAttitude and CATransform3D related by rotational matrices?

  I'm looking at the core motion class CMAttitude, it can express the device's orientation as a 3x3 rotational matrix. At the same time I've taken a look at the CATransform3D, which encapsulates the view's attitude, as well as scaling. The CATransform3D is a 4x4 matrix. I've seen that the OpenGL rotational matrix is 4x4 and is simply 0001 padded in the 4th row and column. I'm wandering if the CMAttitude's rotational matrix is related to CATransform's matrix? Can I use the device's rotation in space obtained via a rotational matrix to transform a UIView using CATransform3D? My intention is to let the user move the phone and apply the same transform to a UIView on the screen. Bonus question: if they are related, how do I transform a CMAttitude's rotational matrix to CATransform3D?

• Advice on embedding video content via CMS - what format?

  Hi, if I set up the facility for people to embed video content on their site via their CMS (using TinyMCE editor), is there any reliable cross platform video format that should be used? From what I can find online, the only reliable way to embed and stream video is using FLV. Other formats seem to have caveats, e.g codecs required or quicktime updates required. Ideally I'd like to avoid this type of situation. If it is the case that FLV is the preferred option, then that involves asking people to encode their video content to FLV before uploading, so there is an extra step required here (unless I can set up the encoding in the back end, but this might take a while to process depending on the size of the video). Does anyone have any additional advice on this? The types of video i'd imagine people will be working with is raw camera footage, so i need to figure out the easiest and most reliable way of getting the footage on to a web page.

• Most efficient way for a lookup/search in a huge list (python)

  Hey guys, -- I just parsed a big file and I created a list containing 42.000 strings/words. I want to query [against this list] to check if a given word/string belongs to it. So my question is: What is the most efficient way for such a lookup? A first approach is to sort the list [list.sort()] and then just use the if word in list: print 'word' -- which is really trivial and I am sure there is a better way to do it. My goal is to apply a fast lookup that finds whether a given string is in this list or not. If you have any ideas of another data structure, they are welcome. Yet, I want to avoid for now more sophisticated data-structures like Tries etc. I am interested in hearing ideas (or tricks) about fast lookups or any other python library methods that might do the search faster than the simple 'in'.   Hello, i have a GridView bound to a DataView. Some columns in the DataView's table are foreignkeys to related tables(f.e. Customer). I want to enable sorting for these columns too, but all i can do is sorting the foreignkey(fiCustomer) and not the CustomerName.   Hi, I need to set a unique color to each bar in the stacked bar chart. Whatever the color I see in one bar it shouldn't be repeated in any other bar or any other stack. For example: I have 5 bars in the report. Each bar has 3 different stacks. I want to apply a red related colors to the first bar and its stacks. Second bar should have blue related colors. etc..   Hello, If I understand correctly, the code below converts $row["datesubmitted"] from one timezone to another. I would like to print the converted $row["datesubmitted"] dynamically in an HTML table. Is there a way that I can apply the conversion below for each row that is pulled from MySQL? I assume that I can't just plug $row["dt"] into the code since there is no field called "dt" in the MySQL that I am using. • Reintegrate a branch with externals fails in SVN

  What I am doing: Apply external properties to a folder in the trunk (both single file and folder external, externals are binary files) Create a branch from the trunk and update the entire project Modify a file on the branch and commit the changes, then update the entire project. Merge - "Reintegrate a branch" when I get to the last screen I click "test merge" and get this error: Error: Cannot reintegrate into mixed-revision working copy; try updating first I update the entire project and still the same error. Other observations: If I "Merge a range of revisions" everything works fine. If I remove the externals everything works fine using either "Merge a range of revisions" or "Reintegrate a branch". How do I solve this issue? I am using Subversion 1.6.6 with TortoiseSVN 1.6.6.

  Is there an easy way to limit the number of times a view can be accessed by a given IP address per day/week? A simplified version of the technique used by some booksellers to limit the number of pages of a book you can preview? There's only one view that this limit need apply to--i.e. it's not a general limit--and it would be nice if I could just have a variable overlimit in the template context. The solution need not be terribly robust, but limiting by IP address seemed like a better idea than using a cookie. I've looked into the session middleware but it doesn't make any references to tracking IP addresses as far as I can tell. Has anyone encountered this problem?

  I have a set of bytes I want to apply an sha1 hash to. One hash will be in .net, the other in PHP. Then I'll test to see if they match. In .net, you can create a byte array and use sha.ComputeHash(). byte[] data = new byte[DATA_SIZE]; byte[] result; SHA1 sha = new SHA1CryptoServiceProvider(); // This is one implementation of the abstract class SHA1. result = sha.ComputeHash(data); In PHP, you call sha1($string). I can't do anything about the .net side of the code, but how can I get the same hash out of PHP that .net will generate? Please note: I am ONLY able to work on the PHP side of this.   I have read this article about 400% boost of your website. This is done by a combination of nginx and memcached. The how-to part of this website is quite good, but i mis the part where it says to what types of websites this applies. I know nginx is a http engine, I need no explanation for that. I thought memcached had something to do with caching database result. However i don't understand what this has to do with the http request, can someone please explain that to me. Another question I have is for what types of websites is this used. I have a website where the important part of the website consist of data that changes often. Often being minutes. Will this method still apply to me, or should I just stick with the basic boring setup of apache and nothing else.

  Hi I have a few class's that inherit from a base class. I want to enforce that all of these Class's implement a shared method foo(). I am not able to create the following on the base class Public MustOvveride Shared Sub foo() as this is not allowed. I also cant create an Interface that defines a Shared Sub Foo() and implement that in my derrived class's, as this also is not allowed. Does anyone know how i should implement this? p.s i realise my example is in VB and i have also tagged C#, the same problem applies to both languages and presumably the same fix would apply.

• what's the "best" approach to creating the UI of an audio plugin that will be both audio unit and VST for OS X and Windows?

  I'm working on a couple audio plugins. Right now, they are audio units. And while the "DSP" code won't change for the most part between implementations / ports, I'm not sure how to go about the GUI. For instance, I was looking at the Apple-supplied AUs in Lion. Does anyone know how did they go about the UI? Like, are the knobs and controls just subclasses of Cocoa controls? are they using some separate framework or coding these knobs and such from scratch? And then, the plugs I'm working on are going to be available too as VSTs for Windows. I already have them up and running with generic interfaces. But I'm wondering if I should just get over it and recreate all my interfaces with the vstgui code provided by Steinberg or if there's a more practical approach to making the interfaces cross-platform.

• database change after pressing 'X' button

  What i know:- We can use Ajax to change database from javascript. So whenever we press the 'X' button on title bar it calls "onbeforeunload" event. And by this event we can change the database. But in my case, i want to change the status of user only when user click on 'X' button. Not in case of changing the page. As because changing the page is unloading the page. and closing the page is also unloading the page(As much i know). Is there any way to differentiate between closing the page and moving from one page to other page? I want to use it for changing the status of user(i.e. login/logout), whenever he presses cross button. I don't want to set status "logout" when user changes the page. I want to set status "logout" when user 'X' the button. Plese help me.

• Finding final/effective web.config values (from inherited configurations)

  Are there any apps that can show the final configuration as applied to a particular application directory? What I'm picturing is something along the lines of FireBug's CSS viewer. Basically, it should show the equivalent single web.config file (as if you only had one), with all the values that apply to the directory in question, with each element (or even attribute) annotated with its source (the real .config file it came from). This would greatly help deploying applications into foreign environments (eg, customer sites) where they sometimes have strange configs, that add in global includes (eg, they put the include in machine.config, instead of the web.config for that app) or have allowOverride=false, etc.

How do I then take the CSS and JS that I have, and apply it to the app in a 'Rails Way'. i.e. a dynamic way that works nicely.   I'm trying to make a 2d shooter game with 3d background. The player and enemies are essentially just quads with textures. The background will be simple 3d polygons with textures and some fog and light. Therefore, I don't need a really powerful 3d library. I tried Unity3D and Torque2D, but I don't like to use their GUI editors. I prefer to work with code. So, is there a cross platform (mainly windows and iPhone) 3d / 2.5d game library, commercial or open source? I assume it will be only limited to c, c++, and object-c due to apple's new ToS.

  Hi, i'm trying to put an activeX object on an asp-webpage. it already worked good a week ago, but now the object isn't showing up anymore. already made a little asp testing-project....just an asp-page and a activex control, containing a button and a label. but when i call up the page in the browser, there is only a white area with a little icon in the upper left corner, showing a red dot, a green triangle and a blue rectangle.... what does that mean? object not found? object blocked by IE? or what exactly does this icon stand for? i always thoght that an missing object is represented by an empty area with a little red cross in it. =/

• In GWT, how to known from a SelectionEvent in a Tree if the Shift button is pressed

  Hi, I try in GWT to create a Tree with multiple selection for the nodes and ran into a problem similar to this question http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1411752/shift-key-in-gwt. When a selectionEvent is raised from the Tree, I would like to know if the Shift key is pressed or not. SelectionHandler<TreeItem> getSelectionHandler() { return new SelectionHandler<TreeItem>(){ @Override public void onSelection(SelectionEvent<TreeItem> event) { // is shift key pressed ? } }; } The solution in the question above cannot apply in this case as the SelectionHandler class does not inherit from DOMEvent and then does not have a getNativeEvent() function. I tried a dirty solution by adding keyDownEventHandler and keyUpEventHandler to the Tree with a boolean flag but the handlers are only called when the focus is on the tree so this doesn't work. Is there a simple solution (or just a solution even if it's not simple) ? Thanks.
