• Unable to modify variables phpmyadmin via variables tab (Xampp)

  I am quite new to phpmyadmin configuration. I had project where utf8 encoding is needed. What i'm trying to do is to change the variables text/char all into utf8. I changed, yes at that moment the values changed into values I wanted. But then when I terminate Xampp and reenters phpmyadmin page or even refreshing the page, all the values restored to default (original values). My phpmyadmin had default user as root and hadn't been set a password yet. There is also no logout button in phpmyadmin landing page. I had difficult time even to set the server connection collation (hangs indefinitely and never seems can be updated). phpmyadmin version:4.1.6 mysql:5.5.36 (latest version) I doubt this could be due to malformed installation, because same things happened in my other computer too (exactly the same versions). what could be wrong? thanks.

It seems like unless I click on that "new" button on top, whatever SQL I generate from right-click just overrides the current SQL in the window. I'm probably missing a "generate new sql in new window" setting The default Teradata SQL Assistant doesn't execute just the SQL query I highlighted. There is a setting I have to change first. I'm not really happy that the SQL assistant and SQL admin are different app. Still trying to get used to the fact that I can't quickly look up a table's keys/relationships while writing query. I have to switch between windows. LOVE the execution plan / explanation. I think that part is better done than MS SQL in some ways. The error messages can be better. I feel that Teradata .NET provider sends smaller query command over than others. I don't have any hard data to support my claim. One of my query in SSRS was passing multi-valued parameters to another query, and got error "Teradata 3577 row size or sort key size overflow". The search on this error says the solution is to cast result column into smaller data type, but I found that the problem was that the parameter passed into the where clause could not be too large. I wish Teradata SQL Assistant would remember the window size I just adjusted to. Every time I execute the query, the result set, query, and exec log auto re-adjust back to the default size. In SSMS, if I adjust the result set area to be smaller, it would stay like that if I execute query in the same window.

• Problem with WCF-SQL Adapter

  When using WCF receive adapter with SQL binding in Polling mode please be aware of the following problem. Problem: At some regular but seemingly random intervals the application stops processing new requests, places a lock on the database and prevent other application from accessing it. Initially it looked like DTC issue, as it was distributed transaction that stalled most of the time. Symptoms: Orchestration instances in Dehydrated state, receive location not picking up new messages, exclusive locks on database tables, errors in DTC trace. Cause: Microsoft has confirmed that there is a bug in the WCF-SQL adapter. In the receive adapter binding configuration there's receiveTimeout property set to 10 minutes by default. If during this period data is not found in the table the adapter would start new thread and allocate more memory without releasing old resources. Thus if there's no new data in the table for a long time a new thread will be created in the host instance every 10 minutes until it reaches threshold (1000) and then there's no threads left for this host instance and it can't start/complete any tasks. Then this host instance won't be able to do anything. If other artifacts are hosted in the instance they will suffer consequences as well. Solution: - Set receiveTimeout to the maximum time 24.20:31:23.6470000. - Place WCF-SQL receive locations in separate host to provide its own thread pool and eliminate impact on other processes - Ensure WCF-SQL dedicated host instances are restarted at interval less or equal to receiveTimeout to flush threads and memory - Monitor performance counters Process/Thread Count/BTSNTSvc{n} for thread count trend and respond to alert if it grows by restarting host instance If you use WCF-SQL Adapter in the Notification mode then make sure to remove sqlAdapterInboundTransactionBehavior otherwise this location will exhibit the same issue. In this case though, setting receiveTimeout doesn't help and new thread will be created at default intervals (10 min) ignoring maximum setting.

• Plesk file permissions - Apache/PHP conflicting with user accounts.

  Hiya, I'm building a Drupal site which performs various automatic disk operations using the apache user (id=40). The problem is that the site was set up on a subdomain belonging to user ID 10001 (ie my main FTP account) so the filesystem belongs to that user ID. So I keep getting errors like this: warning: move_uploaded_file() [function.move-uploaded-file]: SAFE MODE Restriction in effect. The script whose uid is 10001 is not allowed to access /var/www/vhosts/domain.com/httpdocs/sites/default/files/images/user owned by uid 48 in /var/www/vhosts/domain.com/httpdocs/includes/file.inc on line 579. I've tried changing the apache group in httpd.conf to apache:psacln, psacln being the default group for all web users but that's not helped. The situation now is: ..../files/images/ = 777 and chown = ftplogin:psacln ..../files/images/user = 775 and chown = apache:psacln ..../files/tmp = 777 and chown = ftplogin:psacln So apparently uid 40 and 10001 both have permissions to write to any of the 3 directories involved, but still can't. Am i missing something here? Can anyone help? Thanks!

• How to start a s3ql script automatically on boot?

  I've been experimenting with s3ql on Ubuntu 10.04, using it to mount Amazon S3 buckets. However, I'd really like it to mount them automatically. Does anyone know how to do that? I've been working on a script, which works when its run from from the commandline, but for some reason I can't get it to run automatically on boot. Does anyone have any ideas?   I've got an old laptop that is running Windows 2000 & Windows 98 in a multi-boot configuration. I need to add MS-DOS to that list of startup options. I've already added a primary partition, formatted it for FAT16 and made it bootable, and installed MS-DOS 6.22. My question is, how do I add my MS-DOS partition to the list of startup options? More information: My single hard drive has three primary partitions: 0: FAT32 Windows 2000 1: FAT32 Windows 98 2: FAT(16) MS-DOS 6.22 Currently, the boot-up screen lists Windows 2000 and Windows 98 as options, with Windows 2000 as the default choice.   Suppose you have a Proxy based Web Service using Oracle Service Bus. In a stage in the request pipeline,  you are using a Publish action to publish the incoming message to a JMS queue using a Business Service. What if the outbound transport provider throws an exception (outside of your pipeline)? Is your pipeline able to catch the error with an error handler?? This situation could occur because of a faulty connection, suspended queue, or some other reason. Here is the Request Pipeline in our simple test case. With an Error Handler added to the message flow containing a simple Log action. By default, the Publish action will invoke the service in a fire and forget fashion. Therefore any exception that occurs in the outbound transport will go unnoticed as shown in the following Invocation Trace. So what now? In a message flow, you can apply a Routing Options action to modify any or all of the following properties in the outbound request: URI, Quality of Service, Mode, Retry parameters, Message Priority. Now add the Routing Options action to the Request Action as shown below. Click the Routing Options to display its properties in the Properties View. Select the QoS option to set the Quality of Service element. Select Exactly Once to override the default setting, and Republish the project. The invocation will now block until the message is completely processed. Trying the same test case as earlier generates the following Invocation Trace showing that the Error Handler is now triggered.

• Management Reporter Installation – Lessons Learned Part II - Dynamics GP

  After feeling pretty good about my deployment skills of Management Reporter for Dynamics GP a few weeks ago, I ran into two additional lessons learned that I wanted to share. First, on another new deployment, I got the error shown below which says “An error occurred while creating the database.  View the installation log for additional information.”  This problem initially pointed me to KB 2406948 which did not provide resolution. After several hours of troubleshooting, I found there is an issue if the defaults database locations in SQL Server are set to the root of a drive. You will want to set the default to something like the following to get it installed; C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\DATA.  My default database locations for the data and log files were indeed sitting on the H:\ and I:\ drives. To change this property in your SQL Server Instance you need to open SQL Server Management Studio, right click on the server, and choose properties and then database settings. When I initially got the error, I briefly considered creating the ManagementReporter database by hand, but experience tells me that would have created more headaches down the road. The second problem I ran into with this particular deployment of Management Reporter happened when I started the FRx conversion utility.  The errors reads “The ‘Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0’ provider is not registered on the local machine. I had a suspicion that this error was related to the fact FRx uses outdated technology and I happened to be on a new install of Server 2008 R2.  A knowledge base search quickly pointed me to KB 2102486. • Cedarview drivers boot to a blank screen

  I'm following the tutorial following tutorial to get my Intel D2700DC motherboard's graphics working: http://daily.siebler.eu/2012/06/ubuntu-12-04-driver-for-intel-cedarview-atom-n2000-und-d2000-serie/ When I boot I'm getting a blank screen. I followed the tutorial and read all the comments. I've also tried: Install gdm and use this instead of lightdm (ubuntu default) sudo apt-get install gdm Remove previous pae kernel: http://www.liberiangeek.net/2011/11/remove-old-kernels-in-ubuntu-11-10-oneiric-ocelot/ Reboot before adding cedarview packages. Have tried with and without the "video=LVDS-1:d" to GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT variable in /etc/default/grub I still get a blank screen. I am plugged into a HD screen through the HDMI and have tried the DVI connector also. I can see the grub menu, then a little of the loading and then 'No signal'. • How to gain admin privileges on D-Link router if my isp is not allowing me to do so?

  So I switched to new ISP yesterday, they gave me a D-Link router, can't use my old router. I want to change the wireless password, went to 192.168.1.1, I can login with the the username and password user user, but not as admin. On the catalog it says that the default username and password are admin admin, tried that didn't work. Tried admin and no pass, tried many combinations, none worked. I asked some other users and they said that the isp is blocking the users from logging in as admins, and blocking the reset button, and said that there's a hack where you do something like: cmd telnet "router ip" and do something like dumpcfg. Could you please give a better explanation on how to gain admin privileges on your own router if your isp is not letting you do so by default?

• Adding partitions to dual boot on Windows

  I am trying to install Ubuntu 12.04 along side Windows 7 on an HP mini 210 netbook. I have down loaded an iso image OK and got the installation program working but I am having problems with partitioning. I want to keep my Windows installation intact so I am following the 'Other' installation route. I have managed to shrink the main Windows partition down to 50GB leaving 250GB free space but I can't find a way of adding any extra partitions for Ubuntu. The free space gets listed by the installer as 'unusable' but on the graphic at the top its called 'free space'. If I select this and click 'Install Now' I get an error message: 'No root file system is defined'. I have tried clicking the Add, Change Delete and New Partition table buttons with the unusable partition selected and nothing happens. How do I define a root mount point when I do not have any Linux partitions?

  In large procedural landscape games, the land seems dull, but that's probably because the real world is largely dull, with only limited places where the scenery is dramatic or tactical. Looking at world generation from this point of view, a landscape generator for a game needs to not follow the rules of landscaping, but instead some rules married to the expectations of the gamer. For example, there could be a choke point / route generator that creates hills ravines, rivers and mountains between cities, rather than cities plotted on the land based on the resources or conditions generated by the mountains and rainfall patterns. Is there any existing work being done like this? Start with cities or population centres and then add in terrain afterwards?

• How secure is the encryption used by Microsoft Office 2007?

  I've read various articles about Microsoft's Office 2007 encryption and from what I gather 2007 is secure using all default options due to it using AES, and 2000 and 2003 can be configured secure by changing the default algorithm to AES. I was wondering if anyone else has read any other articles or know of any specific vulnerabilities involved with how they implement the encryption. I would like to be able to tell users that they can use this to send semi-sensitive documents as long as they use AES and a strong password. Thanks for the information.

• Can't get simple Apache VHost up and running

  Unfortunately, I can't seem to get a simple Apache VHost online. I used to simply have one VHost which bound to all: <VirtualHost *:80>, but this isn't appropriate for security anymore. I need to have one VHost for localhost requests (ie my dev server) and one for incoming requests via my domain name. • Identity in .NET 4.5&ndash;Part 1: Status Quo (Beta 1)

  .NET 4.5 is a big release for claims-based identity. WIF becomes part of the base class library and structural classes like Claim, ClaimsPrincipal and ClaimsIdentity even go straight into mscorlib. You will be able to access all WIF functionality now from prominent namespaces like ‘System.Security.Claims’ and ‘System.IdentityModel’ (yay!). But it is more than simply merging assemblies; in fact claims are now a first class citizen in the whole .NET Framework. All built-in identity classes, like FormsIdentity for ASP.NET and WindowsIdentity now derive from ClaimsIdentity. Likewise all built-in principal classes like GenericPrincipal and WindowsPrincipal derive from ClaimsPrincipal. In other words, the moment you compile your .NET application against 4.5,  you are claims-based. That’s a big (and excellent) change.   While the classes are designed in a way that you won’t “feel” a difference by default, having the power of claims under the hood (and by default) will change the way how to design security features with the new .NET framework. I am currently doing a number of proof of concepts and will write about that in the future. There are a number of nice “little” features, like FindAll(), FindFirst(), HasClaim() methods on both ClaimsIdentity and ClaimsPrincipal. This makes querying claims much more streamlined. I also had to smile when I saw ClaimsPrincipal.Current (have a look at the code yourself) ;) With all the goodness also comes a number of breaking changes. I will write about that, too. In addition Vittorio announced just today the beta availability of a new wizard/configuration tool that makes it easier to do common things like federating with an IdP or creating a test STS. Go get the Beta and the tools and start writing claims-enabled applications! Interesting times ahead!

  All of the Windows 7 64-bit Enterprise machines in my organization are failing to install a good number of printer drivers that previously installed without issue. This only happens with printer drivers. And not with all printer drivers. Just some. Network drivers, video drivers, etc. have had no problems. Likewise, I removed a machine from the domain, manually set all of the domain Group Policy settings in gpedit.msc, and tried that way, and it worked fine. So it seems like the Group Policy settings are irrelevant. What other domain-related issue could be causing this though? Any ideas on what to try next would be greatly appreciated. I'm not sure where to go from here. Thanks!

I've disabled use default gateway in remote network on client machine, so client don't try to route all communication through VPN. I've routed port 1723 (TCP/UDP) on NAT to my server and enabled IPSec/PPTP/L2TP passthrough I've put my laptop in indepedent network (basically I've connected it via 3G network), connected to VPN server and checked ipconfig /all I've get: IP Address: 192.168.1.101 Mask: 255.255.255.255 Gateway: (none) LAN mask in server LAN network is 255.255.255.0 - I am surely missing something obvious, but Google doesn't give me any good advices; How can I access local LAN network from remote VPN client? How can I access local shared documents?

• Efficient skeletal animation

  I am looking at adopting a skeletal animation format (as prompted here) for an RTS game. The individual representation of each model on-screen will be small but there will be lots of them! In skeletal animation e.g. MD5 files, each individual vertex can be attached to an arbitrary number of joints. How can you efficiently support this whilst doing the interpolation in GLSL? Or do engines do their animation on the CPU? Or do engines set arbitrary limits on maximum joints per vertex and invoke nop multiplies for those joints that don't use the maximum number? Are there games that use skeletal animation in an RTS-like setting thus proving that on integrated graphics cards I have nothing to worry about in going the bones route?

Create Site Definition Project Choose the Site URL and note that you can only choose Farm Solution the sandboxed solution is greyed out. After the Visual Studio did his magic, you can see the Project structure as follows, it contains default.aspx which is the default page for that site definition, onet.xml contains the actions for creating site using this site template(This is like the elements.xml in the feature) and webtemp_Ybbest.CustomSiteDef.xml register this Site definition in the SharePoint(This is similar to the Feature.xml in feature) Open webtemp_Ybbest.CustomSiteDef.xml and modify ID field as it has to be unique and you can optionally choose to modify other fields as well. Deploy your solution and you can find your site template when you creating your site in either Central admin or Site Creation in Site Actions Menu      Create your site collection using your new site template and then navigate to the site you will find the site created by using your site definition.
