• How can I upload a file to a Sharepoint Document Library using Silverlight and client web-services?

  Most of the solutions I've come across for Sharepoint doc library uploads use the HTTP "PUT" method, but I'm having trouble finding a way to do this in Silverlight because it has restrictions on the HTTP Methods. I visited this http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd920295(VS.95).aspx to see how to allow PUT in my code, but I can't find how that helps you use an HTTP "PUT". I am using client web-services, so that limits some of the Sharepoint functions available. That leaves me with these questions: Can I do an http PUT in Silverlight? If I can't or there is another better way to upload a file, what is it? Thanks

• Is it possible to map a root domain URL to a Grails' controller?

  Let's have an example: A grails project, myproj, is deployed in Tomcat 6. It can be accessed anywhere thru this link: http://www.mycompany.com/myproj. Let's say we purchase another domain, http://newcompany.com, and we would like to point it to http://www.mycompany.com/myproj/url. If I go to http://newcompany.com/12345, it should be the same as doing http://www.mycompany.com/myproj/url/12345. Can anyone tell me if this is possible? How to implement it (change Tomcat 6 config, add code in UrlMappings.groovy)? Thanks in advance.

• Can an URL shortener pass parameters?

  Hi, I use bit.ly to shorten my urls. My problem - paramters are not passed. Let me explain I use http://bit.ly/MYiPhoneApps which redirects (let's say) to http://iphone.pp-p.net/default.aspx Now when I try http://bit.ly/MYiPhoneApps?param=xx this param is not added to the resulting url. I know I could create an extra "short url" including a paramter - so http://bit.ly/WithParam would result in http://www.mysite.com/somepath/apage.aspx?Par1=yy and so forth. But what I want is to have a short URL directing to a page - and then I want to add a parameter to this shortened url - which shoul (of course) land at my page. Is this a shortcome of bit.ly (and others are maybe able to do it) - or does "parameter forwarding" not work with 301 redirections? Manfred

• 2D Ragdoll - should it collide with itself?

  Hi, I'm working on a ragdoll fighting game as a hobby project, but I have one dilemma. I am not sure if my ragdoll should collide with itself or not, i.e. if ragdoll's body parts should collide. 2D world is somewhat different than 3D, because there are several layers of stuff implied (for example in Super Mario you jump through a platform above you while going up). The setup I'm currently most satisfied with is when only the parts which are joined by a joint don't collide, so head doesn't collide with neck, neck with chest, chest with upper arm etc, but the head can collide with chest, arms, legs. I've tried every different way, but I'm not content with either. Which way would recommend me to go?

• Google Social Graph API, working as intended?

  Hey, I'm experiencing some problems with Google's social graph API. It seems that for some parameters passed to 'otherme' nothing is returned. I'll use Robert Scoble's profiles as an example (as he's a guy sure to be everywhere on the web). If I query: http://socialgraph.apis.google.com/otherme?q=http://twitter.com/scobleizer&pretty=1 I get results, as expected. However, if I query: http://socialgraph.apis.google.com/otherme?q=http://delicious.com/scobleizer&pretty=1 Nothing is returned, even though 'http://delicious.com/scobleizer' is listed in the previous results... • Most efficient way to generate 2D portraits

  Hey, I am not sure if this is a fitting question for gamedev, or if it is too art related. I am currently trying, to create 2D character protraits for my game. At first I tried to draw them and even though it helped polishing my drawing skills the end result either required way too much time or it simply looked like it was created by a grade school kid. So I am currently looking into some tools which from which people like me who are not out of the art-world might benefit. Especially tools which can create a 3D head+hair, so that I can render them. I have tried several 3D generation tools such as makehead and makehuman to create the basic head-shape. But I have to admit I am not well versed in what other options are available/what has the best quality/etc.

  Hello. I use mod_rewrite/.htaccess for pretty URLs. I'm using this condition/rule to eliminate trailing slashes (or rather: rewrite to the non-trailing-slash-URL, by a 301 redirect; I'm doing this to avoid duplicate content and because I like URLs with no trailing slashes better): RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^\.localhost$ [NC] RewriteRule ^(.+)/$ http://%{HTTP_HOST}/$1 [R=301,L] Working well so far. Only drawback: it also forwards "multiple-trailing-slash"-URLs to non-trailing-slash-URLs. Example: http://example.tld/foo/bar////// forwards to http://example.tld/foo/bar while I only want http://example.tld/foo/bar/ to forward to http://example.tld/foo/bar. So, is it possible to only eliminate trailing slashes if it's actually just one trailing slash? Sorry if this is a somewhat annoying or weird question! Thanks.

  I am a self taught.. NEW..programmer. The language I chose was Objective-C so I can write for Apple products. I have learned the hard way that Objective-C has a steep learning curve but have forced myself to look at it over and over until I get it. I feel I am completing one major step and that is becoming very comfortable with the syntax and now as I enter the next big step...finding out what is possible with a computer language - I am thinking that all software is just developed within the confines of classes-loops-booleans-IF/OR statements-variables-etc. Is that a true assessment? When thinking of software in my head do I just need to learn to convert it all to arrays-loops/variables/classes - IF/OR statements - etc? Sorry if this question sounds funny but I am just learning how to take the language in my head and talk (what I think is) the language of a computer. Is there a good book or tutorial that helps illustrate how to speak computer speak?

I can create the second part of the Uri /CustomerPortal/Order/9876 dynamically in code-behind. My question is: How can I create the base Uri http://www.BlaBla.com without hardcoding it in my application? Basically I want to have something like: http://localhost:1234/CustomerPortal/Order/9876 (on my development machine) http://testserver/CustomerPortal/Order/9876 (on an internal test server) http://www.BlaBla.com/CustomerPortal/Order/9876 (on the production server) So is there a way to ask the server where the application is running: "Please tell me the base Uri of the application" ? • I am having trouble with a perl Script

  I have web log files and I was having a lot of trouble, being new with perl. I just need a script to find a count of each of the images that were found. I was able to list them but I'm unsure of how to just get a count, say something like "There were x jpgs and x gifs viewed".   I'm writing a admin website which control several websites with same program and database schema but different content. The URL I designed like this: http://example.com/site A list of all sites which under control http://example.com/site/{id} A brief overview of select site with ID id http://example.com/site/{id}/user User list of target site http://example.com/site/{id}/item A list of items sold on target site http://example.com/site/{id}/item/{iid} Item detailed information # ...... something similar As you can see, nearly all URL are need the site_id. And in almost all views, I have to do some common jobs like query Site model against database with the site_id. Also, I have to pass site_id whenever I invoke request.route_path.   Possible Duplicate: How could the first C++ compiler be written in C++? You probably heard that Microsoft released a new language called TypeScript which is a the typed superset of JavaScript. The most interesting thing that makes me wonder is the fact that its compiler writen in TypeScript itself. Call me ignorant but I really couldn't figure out in my head how that is possible. This is just like chicken and egg problem in my head because there is no compiler to compile TypeScript's compiler in the first place. How is it possible to write a compiler of the compiler of a programming language with that language?

• Outlook Mobile Service Configuration Issue

  I am working on writing a OMS implementation. I have verified that service is compliant with the service and schema definitions. When trying to set up the account in Outlook 2007 to test the service, it allows me to use an https address, but not an http address. According to the documentation (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb277363.aspx) "The URL of the OMS Web service can be either http or https, but it is https if not otherwise specified" I have not been able to find any doucmentation that would explain why Outlook will not even let me try to do anything in the wizard if the service url does not start with https. The error that it returns when a http address is entered is: The web service address is incorrect or corrupted. Check the web service address or contact your administrator I have also tried creating a temporary cert on my local machine to test the service, but outlook is rejecting the cert because it is not valid. Is there any way to test the service or run it over http?
