  • How does the recursion here work?

    - by David
    code 1: public static int fibonacci (int n){ if (n == 0 || n == 1) { return 1; } else { return fibonacci (n-1) + fibonacci (n-2); } } how can you use fibonacci if you haven't gotten done explaining what it is yet? I've been able to understand using recursion in other cases like this: code two: class two { public static void two (int n) { if (n>0) { System.out.println (n) ; two (n-1) ; } else { return ; } } public static void main (String[] arg) { two (12) ; } } In the case of code 2 though n will eventualy reach a point at which it doesnt satisfy n0 and the method will stop calling itself recursivly. in the case of code 2 though i don't see how it would be able to get itself from 1 if n=1 was the starting point to 2 and 3 and 5 and so on. Also i don't see how the line `return fibonacci (n-1) + fibonacci (n-2) would work since fibbonacci n-2 has to contain in some sense fibonacci n-1 in order to wrok but it isn't there yet. I know my question is worded poorly but looking at this is making my mind explode. the book i'm looking at says it will work. how does it work? `

  • How can I use Functions in VB.NET that's not in App_code

    - by megatoast
    I am currently working with an IPhone API which consist of about 40 pages of aspx along with their respective aspx.vb pages. They are all partial classes because the API continues to add other phone platforms to it. Currently I have them residing just in a folder. /API/0.1 and /API/1.0 ... How would I call the functions from those IPhone API classes without having to put them in the App_code? example: I have a partial class SetTextBroadcast with a function like this Function BroadcastMessage(ByVal Brodcast_recipient() As net.pmgateway.Recipient, ByVal str_Message As String) As net.pmgateway.Reply 'code here End Function How do i use that function in a webform? or do I need to put it in App_Code? something like this is what i'm looking for. Protected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load Dim objSetTextBroadCast as new SetTextBroadCast() End Sub but i get type "SetTextBroadCast" not defined. thanks for your help

  • Creating a user-defined code generation system in PHP

    - by user270766
    My newest project that I'm looking to build with CodeIgniter would require some sort of system that would allow a user to drag and drop pre-defined functions/methods into mini-classes/objects and then run/test them in the browser. So it'd something similar to Scratch. I've designed a relational database that I think could work for this (storing the function names and have these classes "subscribe" to those functions) - but I'm wondering whether or not to go ahead with it. Is there a better way to do this or is there a system out there that would accomplish this for me? EDIT: It would have to be extremely simple for an end user, but hopefully be flexible enough to easily add more complex functionality in the future.

  • Gmail: How to send an email programmatically

    - by Clint
    Possible Exact Duplicate: Sending Email in C#.NET Through Gmail Hi, I'm trying to send an email using gmail: I tried various examples that I found on this site and other sites but I always get the same error: Unable to connect to the remote server -- System.net.Sockets.SocketException: No connection could be made because the target actively refused it 209.85.147.109:587 public static void Attempt1() { var client = new SmtpClient("smtp.gmail.com", 587) { Credentials = new NetworkCredential("[email protected]", "MyPassWord"), EnableSsl = true }; client.Send("[email protected]", "[email protected]", "test", "testbody"); } Any ideas? • Finding JNP port in JBoss from Servlet

    - by Steve Jackson
    I have a servlet running in JBoss (4.2.2.GA and 4.3-eap) that needs to connect to an EJB to do work. In general this code works fine to get the Context to connect and make RMI calls (all in the same server). public class ContextFactory { public static final int DEFAULT_JNDI_PORT = 1099; public static final String DEFAULT_CONTEXT_FACTORY_CLASS = "org.jnp.interfaces.NamingContextFactory"; public static final String DEFAULT_URL_PREFIXES = "org.jboss.naming:org.jnp.interfaces"; public Context createContext(String serverAddress) { //combine provider name and port String providerUrl = serverAddress + ":" + DEFAULT_JNDI_PORT; //Set properties needed for Context: factory, provider, and package prefixes. Hashtable<String, String> env = new Hashtable<String, String>(3); env.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY, DEFAULT_CONTEXT_FACTORY_CLASS); env.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL, providerUrl); env.put(Context.URL_PKG_PREFIXES, DEFAULT_URL_PREFIXES); return new InitialContext(env); } Now, when I change the JNDI bind port from 1099 in server/conf/jboss-service.xml I can't figure out how to programatically find the correct port for the providerUrl above. I've dumped System.getProperties() and System.getEnv() and it doesn't appear there. I'm pretty sure I can set it in server/conf/jndi.properties as well, but I was hoping to avoid another magic config file. I've tried the HttpNamingContextFactory but that fails "java.net.ProtocolException: Server redirected too many times (20)" env.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY, "org.jboss.naming.HttpNamingContextFactory"); env.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL, "http://" + serverAddress + ":8080/invoker/JNDIFactory"); Any ideas?

  • How to solve lazy initialization exception using JPA and Hibernate as provider

    - by rupertin
    I am working on a project for a customer who wants to use lazy initialization. They always get "lazy initialization exception" when mapping classes with the default lazy loading mode. @JoinTable(name = "join_profilo_funzionalita", joinColumns = {@JoinColumn(name = "profilo_id", referencedColumnName = "profilo_id")}, inverseJoinColumns = {@JoinColumn(name = "funzionalita_id", referencedColumnName = "funzionalita_id")}) //@ManyToMany(fetch=FetchType.EAGER) - no exceptions if uncommented @ManyToMany private Collection<Funzionalita> funzionalitaIdCollection; Is there a standard pattern using JPA classes to avoid this error? Snippets are welcome, thanks a lot for your time.

  • Can I disable DataAnnotations validation on DefaultModelBinder?

    - by Max Toro
    I want DefaultModelBinder not to perform any validation based on DataAnnotations metadata. I'm already using DataAnnotations with DynamicData for the admin area of my site, and I need a different set of validation rules for the MVC based front-end. I'm decorating my classes with the MetadataType attribute. If I could have different MetadataType classes for the same model but used on different scenarios that would be great. If not I'm fine with just disabling the validation on the DefaultModelBinder, either by setting some property or by creating a specialized version of it.

  • Can someone please explain this lazy evaluation code?

    - by Tejs
    So, this question was just asked on SO: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2740001/how-to-handle-an-infinite-ienumerable My sample code: public static void Main(string[] args) { foreach (var item in Numbers().Take(10)) Console.WriteLine(item); Console.ReadKey(); } public static IEnumerable<int> Numbers() { int x = 0; while (true) yield return x++; } Can someone please explain why this is lazy evaluated? I've looked up this code in Reflector, and I'm more confused than when I began. Reflector outputs: public static IEnumerable<int> Numbers() { return new <Numbers>d__0(-2); } For the numbers method, and looks to have generated a new type for that expression: [DebuggerHidden] public <Numbers>d__0(int <>1__state) { this.<>1__state = <>1__state; this.<>l__initialThreadId = Thread.CurrentThread.ManagedThreadId; } This makes no sense to me. I would have assumed it was an infinite loop until I put that code together and executed it myself.

  • Entity Frameworks 4 - Changing the model does not update the T4 self tracking template files

    - by Darren
    I am using self tracking entities and have moved the entity classes to another assembly by using 'Add as link' to point to the TT file as mentioned here. Now though, when I update the model (for instance change a property name) the template is not automatically run and so the entity class does not get updated. I can of course manually run the template to get the updates, but it would be easier if it ran automatically in the way it did before I moved the classes. Is there any way to achieve this? Darren.

  • bug with varargs and overloading?

    - by pstanton
    There seems to be a bug in the Java varargs implementation. Java can't distinguish the appropriate type when a method is overloaded with different types of vararg parameters. It gives me an error The method ... is ambiguous for the type ... Consider the following code: public class Test { public static void main(String[] args) throws Throwable { doit(new int[]{1, 2}); // <- no problem doit(new double[]{1.2, 2.2}); // <- no problem doit(1.2f, 2.2f); // <- no problem doit(1.2d, 2.2d); // <- no problem doit(1, 2); // <- The method doit(double[]) is ambiguous for the type Test } public static void doit(double... ds) { System.out.println("doubles"); } public static void doit(int... is) { System.out.println("ints"); } } the docs say: "Generally speaking, you should not overload a varargs method, or it will be difficult for programmers to figure out which overloading gets called." however they don't mention this error, and it's not the programmers that are finding it difficult, it's the compiler. thoughts?

  • Node.js + express.js + passport.js : stay authenticated between server restart

    - by Arnaud Rinquin
    I use passport.js to handle auth on my nodejs + express.js application. I setup a LocalStrategy to take users from mongodb My problems is that users have to re-authenticate when I restart my node server. This is a problem as I am actively developing it and don't wan't to login at every restart... (+ I use node supervisor) Here is my app setup : app.configure(function(){ app.use('/static', express.static(__dirname + '/static')); app.use(express.bodyParser()); app.use(express.methodOverride()); app.use(express.cookieParser()); app.use(express.session({secret:'something'})); app.use(passport.initialize()); app.use(passport.session()); app.use(app.router); }); And session serializing setup : passport.serializeUser(function(user, done) { done(null, user.email); }); passport.deserializeUser(function(email, done) { User.findOne({email:email}, function(err, user) { done(err, user); }); }); I tried the solution given on this blog using connect-mongodb without success app.use(express.session({ secret:'something else', cookie: {maxAge: 60000 * 60 * 24 * 30}, // 30 days store: MongoDBStore({ db: mongoose.connection.db }) }));

  • C# Interop with dll

    - by Jim Jones
    Using VS2008 C# am attempting to interop a C++ dll. Have a C++ class constructor: make_summarizer(const char* rdir, const char* lic, const char* key); Need to retain a reference to the object that is created so I can use it in a follow-on function. When I did this in JNI the c code was: declare a static pointer to the object: static summarizer* summrzr; Then in one of the functions I called this constructor as follows: summrzr = make_summarizer(crdir, clic, ckey); Where the parameters all where the requisite const char* type; So in C# using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Text; using System.Runtime.InteropServices; using System.Configuration; namespace SummarizerApp { class SummApp { private IntPtr summarzr; public SummApp() { string resource_dir = ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["resource_dir"]; string license = ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["license"]; string key = ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["key"]; createSummarizer(resource_dir, license, key); } [System.Runtime.InteropServices.DllImportAttribute("lib\\summarizer37.dll", EntryPoint = "#1")] public static extern IntPtr make_summarizer( [InAttribute()][MarshalAsAttribute(UnmanagedType.LPTStr)] string rdir, [InAttribute()][MarshalAsAttribute(UnmanagedType.LPTStr)] string lic, [InAttribute()][MarshalAsAttribute(UnmanagedType.LPTStr)] string key); public void createSummarizer(string resource_dir, string license, string key) { try { this.summarzr = make_summarizer(resource_dir, license, key); } catch (AccessViolationException e) { Console.WriteLine(e.Message); Console.WriteLine(e.StackTrace); } } Have also tried using IntPtr created using Marshal.StringToHGlobalAnsi(string). Regardless I get a AccessViolationException on the line where I call the native constructor; So what am I doing wrong? Jim

  • Generating %pc relative address of constant data

    - by Hudson
    Is there a way to have gcc generate %pc relative addresses of constants? Even when the string appears in the text segment, arm-elf-gcc will generate a constant pointer to the data, load the address of the pointer via a %pc relative address and then dereference it. For a variety of reasons, I need to skip the middle step. As an example, this simple function: const char * filename(void) { static const char _filename[] __attribute__((section(".text"))) = "logfile"; return _filename; } generates (when compiled with arm-elf-gcc-4.3.2 -nostdlib -c -O3 -W -Wall logfile.c): 00000000 <filename>: 0: e59f0000 ldr r0, [pc, #0] ; 8 <filename+0x8> 4: e12fff1e bx lr 8: 0000000c .word 0x0000000c 0000000c <_filename.1175>: c: 66676f6c .word 0x66676f6c 10: 00656c69 .word 0x00656c69 I would have expected it to generate something more like: filename: add r0, pc, #0 bx lr _filename.1175: .ascii "logfile\000" The code in question needs to be partially position independent since it will be relocated in memory at load time, but also integrate with code that was not compiled -fPIC, so there is no global offset table. My current work around is to call a non-inline function (which will be done via a %pc relative address) to find the offset from the compiled location in a technique similar to how -fPIC code works: static intptr_t __attribute__((noinline)) find_offset( void ) { uintptr_t pc; asm __volatile__ ( "mov %0, %%pc" : "=&r"(pc) ); return pc - 8 - (uintptr_t) find_offset; } But this technique requires that all data references be fixed up manually, so the filename() function in the above example would become: const char * filename(void) { static const char _filename[] __attribute__((section(".text"))) = "logfile"; return _filename + find_offset(); }

  • Checking attribute exists in JSP

    - by Javi
    Hello, I have some classes which extends a superclass, and in the JSP I want to show some attributes of these classes. I only want to make one JSP, but I don't know in advance if the object has an attribute or not. So I need a JSTL expression or a tag which checks that the object I pass has this attribute (similar to in operator in javascript, but in the server). <c:if test="${an expression which checks if myAttribute exists in myObject}"> <!-- Display this only when myObject has the atttribute "myAttribute" --> <!-- Now I can access safely to "myAttribute" --> ${myObject.myAttribute} </C:if> How can I get this? Thanks.

  • Predicate problem in ToSelectList

    the ToSelectList method I have: public static IList<SelectListItem> ToSelectList<T>(this IEnumerable<T> itemsToMap, Func<T, string> textProperty, Func<T, string> valueProperty, Predicate<T> isSelected) { var result = new List<SelectListItem>(); foreach (var item in itemsToMap) { result.Add(new SelectListItem { Value = valueProperty(item), Text = textProperty(item), Selected = isSelected(item) }); } return result; } when I call this method here: public static List<SelectListItem> lesgeverList(int selectedID) { NASDataContext _db = new NASDataContext(); var lesg = (from l in _db.Lesgevers where l.LG_Naam != "leeg" orderby l.LG_Naam select l).ToSelectList(m => m.LG_Naam + " " + m.LG_Vnaam, m => m.LG_ID.ToString(), m => m.LG_ID == selectedID); return lesg.ToList(); } the selectlist I get has the selectedID as selected. now, when I want to have multiple selected items, I give a list of Lesgevers public static List<SelectListItem> lesgeverList(List<Lesgever> lg) { NASDataContext _db = new NASDataContext(); var test = (from l in _db.Lesgevers where l.LG_Naam != "leeg" && lg.Contains(l) orderby l.LG_Naam, l.LG_Vnaam select l).ToList(); var lesg = (from l in _db.Lesgevers where l.LG_Naam != "leeg" orderby l.LG_Naam, l.LG_Vnaam select l).ToSelectList(m => m.LG_Naam + " " + m.LG_Vnaam, m => m.LG_ID.ToString(), m => lg.Contains(m)); return lesg.ToList(); } the var test does return the Lesgevers that i have in the lg List, in my 'var lesg', there are no selectlistitem's selected at all. where is my mistake? :) how do I fix thix?

  • iPhone Foundation - performance implications of mutable and xxxWithCapacity:0

    - by Adam Eberbach
    All of the collection classes have two versions - mutable and immutable, such as NSArray and NSMutableArray. Is the distinction merely to promote careful programming by providing a const collection or is there some performance hit when using a mutable object as opposed to immutable? Similarly each of the collection classes has a method xxxxWithCapacity, like [NSMutableArray arrayWithCapacity:0]. I often use zero as the argument because it seems a better choice than guessing wrongly how many objects might be added. Is there some performance advantage to creating a collection with capacity for enough objects in advance? If not why isn't the function something like + (id)emptyArray?

  • jqGrid footer cells "inherits" CSS from cells in the main grid

    - by Tore
    I have a footerrow in my jqGrid where I sum up the values in some of the columns. I set the footer using the 'footerData' function when the grid has completed loading. This requires the 'footerrow' property in the grid-options to be set to 'true'. Some of the columns which I don't sum up have CSS applied to them (to show some icons in the cells), which is set using the 'classes' property in the colModel API. The problem is that these CSS-classes are also applied to the cells in the footerrow. I don't want them applied there, but I don't know how to prevent them from being shown. I tried to use jQuery to remove the 'class' property from the td elements after calling the 'footerData' function. The problem is that while the grid is loading, the icons are flashed to the user. How can I prevent the CSS from being applied in the first place?

  • Informix, NHibernate, TransactionScope interaction difficulties

    - by John Prideaux
    I have a small program that is trying to wrap an NHibernate insert into an Informix database in a TransactionScope object using the Informix .NET Provider. I am getting the error specified below. • lwjgl 101: How can I write the basics?

I can write something like package gwison; import org.lwjgl.Sys; public class G { public static void main(String[] args) { System.out.println(Sys.getTime()); } } and I can easily compile a program with several classes in different packages, as long as I wrote all the classes myself. But I have no clue how to make G work. I think it has something to do with classpathes? Maybe? Help?

The idea is that if I use the same random number generator throughout the application, I could merely save the seed and then reload from the seed to recompute a certain interesting run. public sealed class RandomNumberGenerator : Random { private static readonly RandomNumberGenerator instance = new RandomNumberGenerator(); RandomNumberGenerator() { } public static RandomNumberGenerator Instance { get { return instance; } } } I also wanted a method that could give me two different random numbers. public static Tuple<int, int> TwoDifferentRandomNumbers(this Random rnd, int minValue, int maxValue) { if (minValue >= maxValue) throw new ArgumentOutOfRangeException("maxValue", "maxValue must be greater than minValue"); if (minValue + 1 == maxValue) return Tuple.Create<int, int>(minValue, maxValue); int rnd1 = rnd.Next(minValue, maxValue); int rnd2 = rnd.Next(minValue, maxValue); while (rnd1 == rnd2) { rnd2 = rnd.Next(minValue, maxValue); } return Tuple.Create<int, int>(rnd1, rnd2); } The problem is that sometimes rnd.Next(minValue, maxValuealways returns minValue. If I breakpoint at this point and try creating a double and setting it to rnd.NextDouble(), it returns 0.0. Anyone know why this is happening? I know that it is a pseudo random number generator, but frankly, I hadn't expected it to lock at 0. The random number generator is being accessed from multiple threads... could this be the source of the problem?

  • wsimport and header params for logging

    - by Milan
    I have this situation. Generating form based on the WSDL. I made it but I came to the situation when the wsimport tool generates classes with methods with params for header(for authentication) and the params are not just simple types. But some complex. The problem is that I dont know which classes will be generated so I need simple types for the methods. @WebMethod(operationName = "DNSLookup", action = "http://www.strikeiron.com/DNSLookup") @WebResult(name = "DNSLookupResult", targetNamespace = "http://www.strikeiron.com") @RequestWrapper(localName = "DNSLookup", targetNamespace = "http://www.strikeiron.com", className = "invoker.DNSLookup") @ResponseWrapper(localName = "DNSLookupResponse", targetNamespace = "http://www.strikeiron.com", className = "invoker.DNSLookupResponse") public SIWsOutputOfDNSInfo dnsLookup( @WebParam(name = "HostNameOrIPAddress", targetNamespace = "http://www.strikeiron.com") String hostNameOrIPAddress, @WebParam(name = "LicenseInfo", targetNamespace = "http://ws.strikeiron.com", header = true, partName = "LicenseInfo") LicenseInfo licenseInfo, @WebParam(name = "SubscriptionInfo", targetNamespace = "http://ws.strikeiron.com", header = true, mode = WebParam.Mode.OUT, partName = "SubscriptionInfo") Holder<SubscriptionInfo> subscriptionInfo); you can see that LicenseInfo licenseInfo, and Holder subscriptionInfo);? Is it possible to somehow to specify to have simple types for header params?

  • UniqueConstraint in EmbeddedConfiguration

    - by LantisGaius
    I just started using db4o on C#, and I'm having trouble setting the UniqueConstraint on the DB.. here's the db4o configuration static IObjectContainer db = Db4oEmbedded.OpenFile(dbase.Configuration(), "data.db4o"); static IEmbeddedConfiguration Configuration() { IEmbeddedConfiguration dbConfig = Db4oEmbedded.NewConfiguration(); // Initialize Replication dbConfig.File.GenerateUUIDs = ConfigScope.Globally; dbConfig.File.GenerateVersionNumbers = ConfigScope.Globally; // Initialize Indexes dbConfig.Common.ObjectClass(typeof(DAObs.Environment)).ObjectField("Key").Indexed(true); dbConfig.Common.Add(new Db4objects.Db4o.Constraints.UniqueFieldValueConstraint(typeof(DAObs.Environment), "Key")); return dbConfig; } and the object to serialize: class Environment { public string Key { get; set; } public string Value { get; set; } } everytime I get to commiting some values, an "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." Exception pops up, with a stack trace pointing to the UniqueFieldValueConstraint. Also, when I comment out the two lines after the "Initialize Indexes" comment, everything runs fine (Except you can save non-unique keys, which is a problem)~ Commit code (In case I'm doing something wrong in this part too:) public static void Create(string key, string value) { try { db.Store(new DAObs.Environment() { Key = key, Value = value }); db.Commit(); } catch (Db4objects.Db4o.Events.EventException ex) { System.Console.WriteLine (DateTime. Now + " :: Environment.Create\n" + ex.InnerException.Message +"\n" + ex.InnerException.StackTrace); db.Rollback(); } } Help please? Thanks in advance~
