  • Mono - Uri class

    I am making an HttpWebRequest at a url similar to this: "http://mysite.com/search?query=my+search+string" Problem is, the Uri class escapes it with %, and the site I'm making the request against can't handle the escaped characters. (I have no control to fix the site) So tried this [Obsolete] constructor: new Uri(myUriString, true); But it did not seem to make any difference, when debugging, my Uri still got escaped. I am running this on a Mac with Mono, but I have not tried it on standard .Net on Windows to see if it has the same behavior. Is there another way to get around this issue?

I'd like to add a Calendar picker control to my iPad app that is similar in appearence and functionality to the Calendar picker control in the upper right corner of the native Calendar app on the iPad. I've looked into a couple of the 3rd party frameworks that have Calendar controls like this (such as the Tapku Library), but because I'm new to iPhone OS development, I'm having a hard time figuring out how to use them, mostly because the ones I've looked at have little or no documentation. For those that have used 3rd party Calendar picker controls, can you recommend one that is... Easy to use or provide decent enough documentation to figure out how to use it Legit for use in iPhone OS 3.2+ (including 4.0) Or if you could recommend one and provide some code snippets from your projects that show how to...   • Javascript Rich Display WYSIWYG Component/Methodology

    quick back story-- I am working on ASP.Net based template editor that lets authors create text templates using Javascript inserted placeholder tags that will be filled in with dynamic text when the templates are used to display the final results. For example the author might create a template like The word [%12#add] was generated dynamically. The application would eventually replace the tag with a dynamic word down the road (though it's not specifically relevant to this post) The word foo was generated dynmamically. Depending on the circumstances, the template may be created in a text input, textarea or a modified version of the Ajax Control Toolkit HTML Editor. There might be 40 or more of these editable elements on the page, so using lots of stripped down or modified HTML editors would probably bog the page down too much. The problem is that the tags such as [%12#add] are displayed inline with the user text and the result is confusing and aesthetically gross. The goal is parse the contens of the source element and when a tags such as [%12#add] are encountered, display something prettier and less cryptic to the user such as a stylable element or image wherever tags such as [%12#add] occur. The application still needs the template text with the tags on postback. So the user might see The word tag placeholder was generated dynamically. but the original template would still be the value of the text input box The word [%12#add] was generated dynamically. It seems HTML editors like the ACT version and FckEditor accomplish this by rendering their output in an IFrame, but rather than kill myself trying to roll a lighter specialized version myself, I thought I'd ask if anyone knows of an existing free component or approach that has already tackled this. With good reason, I don't think S.O. allows HTML formatting, but the bold "tag placeholder" above would ideally be something like tag placeholder.

  • Audio processing in C# or C++

    Hi, I would like to create an application that uses AI techniques and allows the user to record a part of a song and then tries to find that song in a database of wav files. I would have liked to use some already existing libraries for the audio processing part. So, could you recommend any libraries in C# which can read a wav file, get input from microphone, have some audio filters (low pass, high pass, FFT etc) and maybe have the ability to plot the audio signal as well. I would prefer to develop in C#, but if there aren't good libraries for audio processing, I guess I could work in C++ as well. As far as I know, Mathlab already has the above mentioned functionalities, but I can't use it in my application.

    For example: var myObj={ myValue="hola", asMember=function(){ alert( this.myValue ); } }; myObj.asMember(); // will work fine var asGlobal=myObj.asMember; // global alias for that member function asGlobal(); // won't work in javascript (will work in AS3, but i need js now) So the question is, can I rewrite asMember so that it could be called by global alias and without mentioning myObj at all? It's understood that if I define it: asMember=function(){ alert( myObj.myValue ); } it will work, but in my case, mentioning myObj is not acceptable even inside the function itself (because myObj may be reassigned later, but asGlobal won't change and should keep working)

    Hello, I'm using System.Diagnostics.Process to execute an svn command from a windows console application. This is the configuration of the process: svn.StartInfo.FileName = svnPath; svn.StartInfo.Arguments = string.Format("copy {0}/trunk/ {0}/tags/{1} -r head -q --username {3} --password {4} -m \"{2}\"", basePathToRepo, tagName, message, svnUserName, svnPassword); svn.StartInfo.UseShellExecute = false; svn.Start(); svn.WaitForExit(); My problem is that those arguments, which include the svn credentials, are sent (I suppose) in an unsecure way. Is there a way to send these arguments in a secure way using the Process class? Thanks!

  • How can I make a read only version of a class?

    I have a class with various public properties which I allow users to edit through a property grid. For persistence this class is also serialized/deserialized to/from an XML file through DataContractSerializer. Sometimes I want to user to be able to save (serialize) changes they've made to an instance of the class. Yet at other times I don't want to allow the user to save their changes, and should instead see all the properties in the property grid as read only. I don't want to allow users to make changes that they'll never be able to save later. Similar to how MS Word will allow users to open documents that are currently opened by someone else but only as read only. My class has a boolean property that determines if the class should be read-only, but is it possible to use this property to somehow dynamically add a read-only attributes to the class properties at run-time? If not what is an alternative solution? Should I wrap my class in a read-only wrapper class?

Most of the users ask why would you ever want to do this - which is not very helpful, trust me, this is the simplest way of solving my UI problem, and it's a very unique and intereting UI related to making generic triple stores easily browsable. Is there something like an && operator?

    I'm writing a wrapper program that loads Winamp input plugins. I've got it working well so far with quite a few plugins, but for some others, I get an error message at runtime when I attempt to call LoadLibrary on the plugin's DLL. (It seems to happen mostly with plugins that were included with Winamp.) A dialog appears and gives me the error code and message above. This happens, for example, with the in_flac.dll and in_mp3.dll plugins (which come with Winamp). Any ideas on how I can remedy this situation?

At the same time, if I wanted to reuse this button, so that other event listeners can register with it, are these the appropriate steps I should do: override addActionListener(ActionListener action) override removeActionListener(ActionListener action) have a private variable like List <ActionListener> list = new List <ActionListener>() to keep track of when events get added and some sort of function with for loop to run all the actions: public void runListeners() { for (ActionListener al : list) { al.actionPerfomed; } } I'm not really sure if this is the way you can do it or if there are other things I am missing.     Hi, I am trying to do as my question states, sooo I have the following code which would find the match. String test = scan.next(); if (test.equals("$let")) return 1; However, I would prefer to use hasNext as to not consume a token; however, when i do the following it fails. if (scan.hasNext("$let")) return 1; I realize the when giving has next a variable it expects a pattern, but I thought if i don't have any regex symbols it should work. I also thought $ was possibly some regex symbol so I tried /$ however, that did not work! Thanks for the help!

  • Collision detections and how efficient they are

    How exactly do you implement collision detection? What are the costs involved? Do different platforms(c/c++, java, cocoa/iphone, flash, directX) have different optimizations for calculating collisions. And lastly are there libraries available to do this for me, or some that I can just interpret for my platform of choice? As I understand it you would need to loop through the collision map and find the area in question and then compair the input thing(e.g. a sprite) to the type of pixel that is in the questioned area. I understand the very basic idea, but I don't understand the underlying implementation or even a higher level one for that matter. It would seem that this type of detection, or any for that matter, is very costly. Tile map? Bit array? How are these created from an image(I would guess looping and doing stuff)? The reason I ask this question is to get a better understanding of the efficiency behind the scenes and to understand exactly what is going on. Links, references, or examples would be very helpful. I know this question is a bit longwinded so any help or references would be very welcome. Thanks SO!

  • Linking Libraries in Xcode

    Hey all, I'm using a powerbook (osx 10.5) and recently downloaded and installed FFTW 3.2 (link text). I've been able to compile and run some simple programs based on the online tutorial using the terminal: g++ main.cpp -lfftw3 -lm however, I can't get the same program to compile in Xcode. I get a linking error, "symbol(s) not found". There is a file called libfftw3.a in /usr/local/lib. How can this be linked? Furthermore, apparently the libraries have to be linked in a particular order, i.e. see: link text thanks for any help

    Hey all. I'm working on an application that was originally intended for HTML, but I've recently concluded that the best thing to do for my purposes is to do it in Flash instead. One of the big things I need is to be able to bring in movieclips from external files and add them to my main movie at runtime (dynamic number of elements, skinning, etc.) Don't need full-on code for this, but I could use some assistance in tracking down the resources to learn how to do these things successfully. Tutorials, best practices… The usual suspects. I've been using Flash for a while now, and used to do this pretty easily in AS2, but I've had some hiccups using classes and addchild in an earlier attempt, so any help would be much appreciated.     In Visual Studio, I can obtain a succinct list of public methods/members exposed in a class for which I do not have the source (i.e. bundled inside a DLL) by pressing F12 (GoToDefinition). Similarly, I am learning the Android API - in Eclipse. Jumping to an Android framework method definition produces decompilation output which is not intuitive to read, and is very verbose. To mimic results like Visual Studio, I am considering several options: How can I format the decompilation output to be 'cleaner' - I have looked through Eclipse's preferences menus and have not found a way to do this. How do I 'add corresponding source files' once Google provides it, so that jumping to definition yields the actual definition? Is there a plugin that does this already? I looked into Jadclipse, but that project has not been updated in several years, and is still a decompiler. Thank you in advance.
