  • get img src from an img loaded dynamically using jQuery

    Hey Guys (and Ladies) I am looking at getting the image name from an image with a src loaded dynamically. Basically what I am doing is using the Google chat badge on a site to live chatting. And else where on the page, I have an image saying Live Chat:Online or Live Chat:Offline. And I want this to change depending on whether I am available to chat or not. Does this make sense? Anyway, the easiest way I figure to do this would be check the img url. If the img is offline.gif then obviously I am offline. An example of a dynamically loaded img would be something like <img src="http://www.google.com/talk/service/badge/Show?encrypted_acount_id_here" /> Once this image has loaded, it loads one of the following images "http://www.google.com/talk/service/resources/offlinef.gif" "http://www.google.com/talk/service/resources/idlef.gif" "http://www.google.com/talk/service/resources/onlinef.gif" Hopefully this make sense now.     Using geopy to geocode alcohol outlets in NZ. The problem I have is that some places do not have street addresses but are places in Google Maps. For example, plugging: Furneaux Lodge, Endeavour Inlet, Queen Charlotte Sound, Marlborough 7250 into Google Maps via the browser GUI gives me However, using that in Geopy I get a GQueryError saying this geographic location does not exist.     I am new to Java Script. I am using it, in combination with Java Server Faces. I want to add some points to define a Polilyne using GoogleMaps Apiv3. My problem is that I can't add a FOR statement to the javascript, because it dumps. If I comment this FOR loop, it also dumps. The dump I am getting is: "javax.servlet.ServletException: null source".   • Sendmail Issue - Local Mail / Inner Domain Mail

    Environments: Ubuntu / Sendmail / Google Apps Emailing: I send and receive all of my emails through google apps besides emails that are sent directly from my website. My Web Domain: example.com (for the purpose of the question only) Problem: When my website sends an email, using sendmail, to any local address ([email protected]) I get an unknown user error. Emails sent to other domains seem to work just fine. Question: I believe this is because I don't have these users defined on my ubuntu server, this is besides the point I need to configure sendmail such that it doesn't pick out local emails sent to ([email protected]) and instead finds their name server which points to google apps and sends it there instead. This is my first try at serverfault, I normally use stackoverflow so let me know if I'm messing up! Thank you!

    I used to use Emacs/GNUS for reading mailing lists, but that feels very 1990. Plus, it doesn't sync my scoring across PCs. GMail is wonderful, but it kind of sucks for mailing lists. The essential "mute" feature doesn't even work unless the mail is in the Inbox. I'd read my mailing lists on the Google Groups site, but not all of them are Google Groups. Basically, I'm looking for the "Google Reader" of mailing lists. Any suggestions?

    From this morning I get this error whenever I access Google Docs and some websites. My system datetime is correct and I checked "Automatically from the Internet". My BIOS is OK. I cleared everything (cache, cookie, private data) in Chrome and restarted OS but nothing changes. How to fix it? Firefox works but Chrome has that problem. The site's security certificate is not trusted! You attempted to reach docs.google.com, but the server presented a certificate issued by an entity that is not trusted by your computer's operating system. This may mean that the server has generated its own security credentials, which Google Chrome cannot rely on for identity information, or an attacker may be trying to intercept your communications. You cannot proceed because the website operator has requested heightened security for this domain.

    Hi, I've been battling with this issue for couple of months. I need to send bulk mail (not spam) through my social network to users in situations like newsletters, site invitations (when user imports their address book contacts) I'm using shared hosting and it limits 500 mails per hour. Even though i manage to send mails most of them end up in user's spam box. After researching these are the solutions that i finally came up with. 1) Use Google Apps SMTP (http://www.google.com/apps/intl/en/business/features.html) 2) Move into VPS 3) Use shared hosting with throttle enabled Please advise me on what to choose. Will using Google Apps prevent mail being sent as spam? I can't use other 3rd party SMTP like iContact or Aweber as "invitation sending script" will send emails to thousands of contacts, depending on user's addressbook. Thanks in advance

    I use Google Apps with my domain. Recently, we have begun to receive spam that gets past Google's spam filters. They are from our own email addresses. I am wondering how to prevent this kind of email spoofing. We use an SPF record with the "~all" setting. I'm wondering if I can upgrade that to "-all". However, Google Apps recommends against it.   • Are there mapping utilities out there that will let me import geo position data (lat/long) and plot the points on a map?

    I have a data file with a bunch of lat/long positions. Is there any mapping software out there (google maps, etc) that will allow me to import the positions from the file and plot them on a map? I would be this can be done through google maps but I'm not sure how to do it. I just want something that I can use quickly with a minimal amount of programming to do. I don't need to annotate anything. Just view where the points are on the map. I'm just wondering if there is something already available out there to import into google maps.

    Google gave me a Cr-48 about a month ago. I like it. Its simple and powerful. The temptation to fuss and muss has been removed. However, one of the things I miss a lot is hotstrings that I set up in autohotkey. So for instance typing "asap" will autoexpand to "as soon as possible" no matter what software I am in. I cannot do that in Chrome OS. Google Docs has something under toolspreferencesautomatic substitution but that is only specific to Google Docs. I want to have hotstrings everywhere.

  • Making a simple searchable directory of people and their skills in a day - Which technologies?

    Hi All, I am working with a small theatre company. Currently they have a list of people on paper with notes about their skills next to each one. I want to create a database / directory for them so that they can add, delete, update and search for people. It is a very simple and common scenario I know but the issue here is that I only have a day to build a working solution. The search has to be very simple At first I was thinking LAMP but I'd rather not have to create it all from scratch and host it myself. That lead me to Google Spreadsheet as a database, this has the advantage that they already use google docs for everything and if my front end goes tits up they can still get to the data. Presuming none of you can think of some existing software which does exactly what I want the next step is to make a front end for the database. You can create forms for Google Spreadsheets but they only let you add new entries, I can make a Google Gadget but that will only let me implement the search as the Google Visualisation API provides read only access. It's at this point I'm stuck, should I just create a Java Servlet front end for the Google Spreadsheet and use the Java API to add, search and update? I know this is a broad question but I'm just asking 'What would you do?' to implement this system with a day's development time? Gav

For example, if I type... imdb moon ...to the address bar and press Return in Firefox then it redirects me straight to http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1182345/ (and I've not visited the page before) When I try this is Chrome then I just get the google search page http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=imdb+moon So seems like Firefox redirects automatically to the highest ranking search result URL - is there a setting or add-on for Chrome to achieve the same behaviour?

Our application is written in php and should be able to do the following: send mails to our own users "from: [email protected]" send mails from our clients to their clients "from: [email protected]" We don't need to take care of incoming mails, just send out mails with the correct from and reply-to addresses. We cannot make this work using Google Apps (limited to our own domain in the from-field) and we cannot make google apps or google apps domains for all our clients, so we are looking for another simple to manage and set up solution. I'm fully aware of some of the limitations like no native apps, limited functionality while offline (though this is getting better with Google Drive's offline capabilities). Currently, I have a Windows machine on which I've installed Google Drive, so files in that folder are synced. And I use Chrome as my browser. So I have access to all the same apps (Drive, Calendar, Gmail, Google Music, etc.). Is there any advantage to having a Chromebook over my current setup, other than the speed of the lightweight Chrome OS?
