• Can I auto-forward Gmail to multiple addresses?

  Hi, I have set up a Gmail account with the intention of having it function as a mail hub, meaning it should forward every mail item to all of its contact list, in this case my friends and me. I created a simple filter for all incoming items (from:*), but the 'Forward it to' field will only allow me a single email address, and not even a contact group. Is there a way around this? And why is such a simple feature not available in Gmail? I thought they were out of beta...

• "net time" returns system error 5, "Access is denied", even when run as administrator

  I am trying to run net time on a Windows 7 box with an account that is part of the Administrators group. When I run the command net time from an elevated command prompt I get the following error: System error 5 has occurred. Access is denied. Why is this happening? I've looked at this Microsoft Knowledge Base article and have gone through the steps. Both the computer and the DC are connected to the same NTP server and I've verified they're synced I'm working on a local account so there should be no permissions issues There is no local firewall running

• Setting WMI permissions remotely

  I've developed a tool that does a simple retrieval of registered services and installed applications from remote Windows Server 2003 servers via WMI. My problem is, the tool needs to be run on an ad hoc basis by a user who is not an administrator of those servers. I've created a domain user (which the tool will use to run the query) that I'd like to grant remote WMI permission on each server, but given there are about 200 servers, I can't do it manually. Is there a way to grant access to that domain user via WMI, or by distributing a registry change via SMS or Group Policy?

• Parallel prologue and epilogue in Grid Engine

  We have a cluster being used to run MPI jobs for a customer. Previously this cluster used Torque as the scheduler, but we are transitioning to Grid Engine 6.2u5 (for some other features). Unfortunately, we are having trouble duplicating some of our maintenance scripts in the Grid Engine environment. In Torque, we have a prologue.parallel script which is used to carry out an automated health-check on the node. If this script returns a fail condition, Torque will helpfully offline the node and re-queue the job to use a different group of nodes. In Grid Engine, however, the queue "prolog" only runs on the head node of the job. We can manually run our prologue script from the startmpi.sh initialization script, for the mpi parallel environment; but I can't figure out how to detect a fail condition and carry out the same "mark offline and requeue" procedure. Any suggestions?

Because Alfresco will not allow its partners to work with the Community edition, I have found it devilishly tricky to find consultants that specialize in Alfresco to help me with this project. Can anyone point me in the direction of someone that can help me get this system up an running? • Can I install Microsoft Visual Web Developer w/o a SQL Server Express installation?

  When I attempt to install Microsoft Visual Web Developer 2010 Express, it forces an installation of SQL Server 2008 Express, which is okay. However, it forces it to have the instance name SQLEXPRESS instead being the default instance. I tried installing SQL Server 2008 Express first, but the Web Platform Installer 3.0 still wants to download and install the named instance, which then I have to uninstall. I'm putting together a guide that several others in my group will follow, so I'd like to not have to tell them to "install, then uninstall". So, is there any reasonable way to either (1) install VWD w/o SS, or (2) install VWD but configure SS do use the default instance?

• SQL Server 2005 jobs running twice in a row - using LiteSpeed

  Howdy! I have a SQL server (2005) backing up to a network share, who has a group of maintenance plans setup through LiteSpeed to backup different DBs. They were just set up to run two sub plans on different schedules for full/diff backups and did that just fine for a couple of months. Then I added "Clean Up" task to the subplans. Ever since that point, the backup creates another bak right after the first bak job is completed. I removed the clean up item from the subplan, and it still creates two baks when ran. Both the SQL Activity Monitor and the machine's windows application log show just one job being executed. I did this same thing to a couple of other servers backing up to the same location, and they are behaving correctly. Thoughts?

• OpenSSH SFTP server with chroot() + user with chroot exception

  I am currently setting up an SFTP server but there is one detail I can't seem to figure out. When I add a user, I would like him to connect using his client and be able to write in his "root dir" right away. My Match case for the SFTP-users group currently has ChrootDirectory set as "/home/%u", and inside that directory I have to have a subdirectory owned by the user, while /home/%u itself is owned by root. Next to that, the "root dir" also has a couple files, .bashrc to name one. Is it possible to put these files somewhere else, remove them, or at least make them invisible to the user? Thanks EDIT: One more little thing I'd like to implement is for one account to have read (or rw, not sure yet) access to all other users' home directories. What is the easiest way to implement this? EDIT 2: Basically, having one user be an exception to the chroot rule would get me started.

• Security permissions for remote shared folders

  I have two servers running Windows Server 2003, and I want copy files from one server (A), programmatically with a windows service running under the Local System account, to a shared folder on the other (B). I keep getting "access denied" errors, and I can't figure out what security settings I need to set to open the shared folder for writing. This is what I've done on the recieving end: On A, right-click on the folder to share, choose the tab "Sharing" and select "Share this folder". Set a share name. Click "Permissions", add the group "Everyone" and give it full control. I tried choosing the "Security" tab to give some permissions there as well, but the "Add" dialog only finds local users, despite the fact that B shows up in the "Workgroup computers" dialog. After further inspection, this is the case also for the "Permissions" dialog under the "Sharing" tab (are they the same?).

• Using PAM and vsftpd without root access

  I'm trying to set up a few vsftpd instances on a machine that I have no root access to. The authentication should be done through PAM with pam_listfile, like this: pam_listfile.so item=group sense=allow file=/path/filename onerr=fail I can ask the administrator to set up a PAM service for me and include that line but he is not willing to create 6 PAM services for my 6 vsftpd instances and I really need different /path/filename set for each vsftpd server. Is there a way to solve this problem? Can I somehow not use absolute path as the parameter? (I know the correct solution would be to use one vsftpd instance and set up virtual users properly. However unfortunately I have to work what I have and the users already exist in an Active Directory and are authenticated to the system using another PAM service.)

• Testdisk won’t list files for an ext4 partition inside a LVM inside a LUKS partition

  I have accidentally deleted a file that I want to recover. The partition is an ext4 partition inside an LVM partition that is encrypted with dm-crypt/LUKS. The encrypted LUKS partition is: /dev/sda2 which contains a physical volume, with a single volume group, mapped to: /dev/mapper/system And the logical volume, the ext4 partition is mapped to: /dev/mapper/system-home A # testdisk /dev/mapper/system-home will notice it as an ext4 partition but tells me that the partition seems damaged when I try to list the files. If I # testdisk /dev/mapper/system it will detect all the partitions, but the same happens if I try to list their files. Am I doing something wrong or is it a known bug? I have searched but haven’t found any clue.

  I have a network that is setup for multicast traffic. My setup is the following -Machine A : a server generates multicast traffic. -Machine A : few clients subscribing to that multicast traffic -Machine B : few clients subscribing to that multicast traffic # Address I am using IP : 239.193.0.21 PORT: 20401 The clients in machine A , even if they join the group (I can see IGMP messages through wireshark), don't receive any data while (and this is the funny part) machine B,C and D receive everything. I sorted that issue by completely disabling Linux firewall. Before doing that, I enabled the multicast on the firwall ('reject all'). iptables -A INPUT -m addrtype --src-type MULTICAST -j ACCEPT My question is the following: what I can check in wireshark that can help me in spot such firewall issues in the futures? For TCP/IP I realize by using ping and looking at ICMP packets rejected. What I can check/monitor for multicast? I am using LInux/Red-Hat Enterprise 6.2

  I have a websites that should be completely accessible for Apache(www-data user) and I have an ftp user(that has the same username on the server: user1) that should be able to update the website. I need the user to be able to add files to the website directory, but the www-data should have a full access to the added files. user1 is a member of www-data group. For now when user1 uploads file to the server the file has a rights: 644, but I need 664. How I could organise it. Many thanks

• Problem after resizing partition for Fedora under Vmware fusion

  Hi, I am running FC9 under VMware Fusion 3.0 I wanted to resize my /dev/sda2 partition. In order to do that I did the following: 0. changed the size of the vmware file (under VMware settings). 1. rebooted the host to rescue mode without mounted disks 2. fdisk - removed & added /dev/sda2 - i had bigger /dev/sda2 3. lvm pvresize /dev/sda2 4. lvm pvdisplay - it showed me bigger size on /dev/VolGroup00 for /dev/sda2 5. lvm vgchange -a y - device-mapper: reload ioctl failed: Invalid argument - 2 logical volume(s) in volume group "VolGroup00" now active This is not true because there is no /dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00 My whole "/" disappeared. dmsetup table, shows: VolGroup00-LogVol01: 0 2097152 linear 8:2 38338944 VolGroup00-LogVol00: Can some one help me to solve this? • Getting USB boot to work in SmartOS on HP ProLiant N40L

  I recently downloaded SmartOS and tried running it on my HP ProLiant N40L, but it always fails on boot. After dd'ing the image to the USB stick, I plug it into the internal USB header and turn the machine on. After selecting from GRUB, it displays the following: , bss=0x0 It sits there for 2-4 minutes, then finally boots the OS and displays the following: WARNING: Couldn't read ACPI SRAT table from BIOS. lgrp support will be limited to one group. SunOS Release 5.11 Version joyent_20120614T184600Z 64-bit Copyright (c) 2010-2012, Joyent Inc. All rights reserved. WARNING: kvm: no hardware support After that, it hangs. I've tried this with two different USB sticks. I've seen some mentions on the SmartOS website about people running it on an N40L, booting from USB, so maybe it's just broken hardware? Has anyone gotten this working?

• Error "403 Forbidden" on Sharepoint Search Settings Page

  Hello I thought I had solved this nightmare by re-entering the values in my SSP properties set up, however accessing the Search Settings page error has reared it ugly head again.   I did a wget on the source and built the apache binaries correctly. Now what do I need to do to get some documents accessible using HTTP (start some services?)? Also, do I need to group all the files I want to make accessible in some directory and make the directory and its contents accessible or can I just make the individual documents available? I will be providing these links to my colleagues and do not want them to be down, so need to make sure that the apache services are up automatically after a reboot. Does apache have some inbuilt support for this?

  Mac OS X Snow Leopard Windows Server 2003 Windows Folder "Videos" Share Permissions on Videos - Everyone NTFS Permissions on Videos - System (Full Control) - Domain Users (Modify) - Domain Admins (Full Control) Mac user Michael is a part of the Domain Users group. He connects to Videos using cifs://server/Videos and authenticates with his username Michael. Michael copies over a file "dance dance baby.avi". User Jon opens the Videos folder but cannot see the dance dance baby.avi file. Checking the dance dance baby.avi file permissions here is what I see: Everyone - Read, Write Domain Admins - Full Control Michael - Read, Write Owner of File - Michael So here's my question, how come when Michael copies a file over from a Mac, the permissions on the file get changed even though Michael has no rights to change permissions? If the same file is copied over from a Windows machine, it just inherits the proper permissions from the parent Video folder. Am I missing something? Are my permissions wrong? Thanks. Michael

  I created a database on a local SQL server that we use for development. I created the log and data files on a second hard drive (E:\MSSQL\DATA). I am using this database to do some speed tests so I created a lot of data (7 Million rows). I started running some pretty intensive queries and to get some test data I ran an update statement that updated all 7 million rows and now it has taken up all of the space on my C:\, which I don't understand since I put the data files on the E:\. Is there some files on the C:\ that would be growing based on me running queries on this other database, if so how do I stop it? I am doing with this database but I need to get my C:\ back in order. The database file group was PRIMARY, is this relevant?

• Printer Management in AD Domain

  Hello, I normally push out all my printers via group policy preferences. However, the new copy machines I have are using some stranger drivers and I can not install x64/x86 drivers on the same machine for my clients to pull drivers from. So now I have two machines setup with the printer so they can pull drivers. Ontop of this there is specific driver configuration settings such as requiring the user to enter an access code to print set. Once the printer is installed via GPP, it puts everything to the default such as color mode, and other custom settings we like. I considered just using a Windows Print Server for this, but I do not know a way to push/delete these from clients like I can with GPP. Does anyone know how I can have a GPP copy the custom configuration I have set in the driver or have any recommendations?

  I have a SonicWall TZ 215 running SonicOS Enhanced 5.8.1.2-6o. I have configured the L2TP VPN using the default crypto suite ESP: 3DES/HMAC SHA1 (IKE). Proposals are as such: IKE (Phase 1) Proposal DH Group: Group 2 Encryption: 3DES Authentication: SHA1 Life Time (seconds): 28800 Ipsec (Phase 2) Proposal Protocol: ESP Encryption: 3DES Authentication: SHA1 Enable Perfect Forward Secrecy DISABLED Life Time (seconds): 28800 When attempting to connect via my Mac OS X client I get an authentication error. It appears to pass the pre-authentication but fails to complete. I am at a complete loss. I reconfigured from scratch multiple times...used simple usernames and passwords to verify this wasn't a miskeyed password issue.   Well i was using the info on this: Puppet - Any way to copy predefined custom configuration files for software on clients from the puppet master (host)? But i need some more elaborated, because i have several Desktops and are in use by 2 or 3 users each one, so i want to make a class for copy a shortcut in his desktops. The computers are joined to a domain, so any user can log in any desktop, and his profile is created in every desktop. I've tryed with this: class applink { file { "/home/installer/Escritorio/Workdesktop.desktop": owner => installer, group => root, mode => 770, source => "puppet://$server/files/Workdesktop.desktop" } This is only for one user called "installer", how can do this for several users? Can i use $USER for do this? Any Thoughts? Thank You!

  How to make a normal user can install package with pkg_add on FreeBSD? pkg_add -r command fails with normal user with sudo. Downloading succeeds, but installation fails with this error message. Equal command executed successfully with root login. %sudo pkg_add -r apache22 Password: Error: Unable to get ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/ports/amd64/packages-8.1-release/Latest/apache22.tbz: Syntax error, command unrecognized pkg_add: unable to fetch 'ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/ports/amd64/packages-8.1-release/Latest/apache22.tbz' by URL % Assume my username as eonil. I added eonil ALL=(ALL) ALL code as next of root ALL=(ALL) ALL via visudo, and added the user to wheel group by pw usermod eonil -G wheel . But the user cannot install package with sudo pkg_add -r apache22. (not only the apache, any package.)
